This presentation explains the work being done by Digital Democracy and VozMob and our ideas for collaboration between our two organizations, for N2Y4 Featured Projects Pitch Series
Educators are increasingly using new media and digital technologies to teach and engage their 21st century students. Reading, writing, gaming, trans-media, immersive worlds, augmented reality, and Web 3.0 are all part of the new digital frontiers. Whether it’s science or science fiction, Alice in Wonderland or Angry Birds, the dynamics of this new information ecology are transforming learning experiences in our schools. We can lead this learning revolution by ensuring that our library and the learning ecology we create can harness these new environments. How we do this, will determine our success and the future relevance and importance of our school libraries.

School libraries are at the heart of a new digital learning nexus. Our world changed in April 1993 when the Mosaic 1.0 browser was released to the general public. The challenges we face are equally creative as they are complex. What is your focus for tomorrow?
Developing a Digital Citizenship ProgramCathy Oxley
Promoting responsible Digital Citizenship within the school environment.
Schools have a duty of care to teach students how to behave in responsible and ethical ways when using the internet. A negative online presence can have a profound impact on a student’s learning, and personal and professional life. This looks at ways of helping students create a positive digital footprint and the process for developing a whole school Digital Citizenship program. Includes examples of a wide range of sources schools can use when implementing such a program.

This is an expanded version of my Engaging Digital Natives Presentation. It is designed to accompany a full-day hand-on lab session and workshop. http://jdorman.wikispaces.com/digitalnatives
Today’s youth lead online lifestyles. They interact in online communities, build relationships, express themselves, stay informed, and find answers to life’s questions all online. Notebook PCs, smartphones, and wireless networks provide access to social networks anywhere, anytime. This generation, the iGeneration, is accustomed to on-demand, individualized service, and is becoming increasingly intolerant of traditional teaching methods where lectures and textbooks assume that “one size fits all” and that learning takes place through individual effort in a classroom. As teachers struggle to satisfy tech-savvy students, we also face pressure to serve increasing numbers of students with fewer resources. Some schools are finding success in dealing with these issues through innovative uses of technologies. Moving curricula online, adopting online pedagogies that emphasize exploration and collaboration, designing engaging activities such as “serious games,” and implementing online learning communities are key to connecting with the iGeneration. This presentation looks at current research in innovative online education technologies, along with the presenter’s own work in the area.
Skillful Digital Activism: Cultivating Media Ecologies for Transformative Soc...Vicki Callahan
“Skillful Digital Activism: Designing Strategies for Transformative Social Change”
This presentation explores the conceptual frameworks and practical strategies employed in social change campaigns that have utilized digital media as a crucial component of their organizing tool kit. Moving beyond the hazards of superficial social media engagement, or the justly maligned “clicktivism,” to transformative and long term impact, I examine a range of case studies that have worked to develop a “horizontal,” rather than top down, rich media ecology, which networks diverse groups, fosters community, and promotes real change. Whether using virtual reality, interactive documentaries, or DIY tools, projects such as Half the Sky, Lunch Love Community, Food Inc, Triangle Fire Archive, Through the Lens Darkly/Digital Diaspora, VozMob, and #BlackLivesMatter are all pioneering digital tools and strategies in the struggle for social justice. While their philosophies and strategies might be different each campaign mark a shift from a broadcast to a participant focused model where advocacy and engagement are connected. This work was presented at Dublin City University on November 10, 2015 and also an earlier version of this was at the Performance, Protest, and Politics Conference at University College Cork in August 2015. These presentations with part of my Fulbright Research award for 2015-2016.

Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.

"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.
Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.
