Dew forms in the morning and evening due to condensation, as exposed surfaces cool by radiating heat and atmospheric moisture condenses faster than it can evaporate, forming water droplets on thin exposed objects. Dew forms when the temperature drops and objects cool below the dew point, the temperature at which air is saturated with water vapor and condensation occurs, forcing water vapor in the air around objects to condense into small water droplets. Dew formation is greater on clear nights when the sky radiates more heat from surfaces.
