Culture is a system of dynamic and interrelated characteristics. Profound opportunity for cultural insight lies in the patterns that the people of a given ideology, a given place and at a given point in time are adopting and adapting.
Those who don't learn from history are doomed to NOT repeat it.
We know the old adage, but the other reality is that there's nothing new under the sun. The same goes for the practice of User Experience (UX) and it goes back further than you might think.
History can be fun – especially when we see how it relates to our ever-expanding and shifting industry of today. This presentation is geared to new practitioners who want to understand the foundations of our field and veterans who would like to see a different perspective on our profession. Let's look at the practice of UX through a historical lens at some of man's most creative pursuits and demonstrate the parallels between the past and today's design trends.

Architecture and the Expression of Cultural Identity in Kuwait العمارة والتعب...Galala University
The Journal of Architecture, ISSN: 1360-2365
Volume 12, Number 2, pp. 165-182
2007
The phenomenon of expressing cultural identity in architecture is apparent in many parts of the world: this paper examines it in the context of Kuwait. It focuses on architects, and the strategies they use in expressing cultural identity. The aim is to understand their views and current efforts in this context. In Kuwait, architecture has passed through dramatic transformations during the second half of the twentieth century that were the result of economic, regional and global changes. A survey of the views of eighteen Kuwaiti architects was conducted using focused interviews and a standardised questionnaire. Examples of their projects were analysed to illustrate their views and ways of thinking. The study concluded that there were several strategies employed by Kuwaiti architects to express a Kuwaiti cultural identity in their work. A three- dimensional matrix was developed to illustrate the relationship between the ranges of these strategies and architecture in Kuwait. It is hoped that this matrix will be useful for practitioners and critics of contemporary architecture in Kuwait interested in understanding current trends in achieving a cultural identity in architecture.

Structuralism- Art movement in Architecture.pptxSharupPaul
Hello everyone,
Here I prepared a slide on structuralism.Structuralism is a movement in architecture and urban planning that evolved around the middle of the 20th century. It was a reaction to Rationalism's (CIAM-Functionalism) perceived lifeless expression of urban planning that ignored the identity of the inhabitants and urban forms. So I want to share this.
This is a slide deck from one of Marc Stickdorn's courses on service design. It is structured in three parts, the first one is about customer experience in general and how important it is. The second part explains service design in a nutshell, and thirdly you can apply your newly acquired knowledge and create a persona.

Two models of design-driven innovation - UX AustraliaSteve Baty
The drive for innovation in products and services and a culture of ‘fail early; fail often’ has bred a desire for very early prototypes. This approach lends itself to an entire industry tackling a problem or for the venture capitalists funding them. It can be broadly characterised as hypothesis-led. It is much less appropriate or advantageous for an individual project team within an established industry attempting to reinvent an existing product/service category. For these teams, an insight-led approach in which multiple concepts are developed in parallel is more appropriate.
This presentation will give an introduction to each of these two dominant models of design-driven innovation. It will look at the advantages and disadvantages of each; and look at the issue of localised optimal solutions and what this means for innovation.

Two culture game-changers will share insights on how to make design part of your organization by making it part of your culture. In a fast-paced discussion, you’ll learn about the three critical programs you need to build a culture of design and drive your organization forward.
Strategic insights for creative agencies based on the principles of Design Thinking from Tim Brown of IDEO and Roberto Verganti, Professor of Management Innovation, at Politecnico of Milano
デジタル化の進展により、企業外部のアプリ開発者の活力を取り込んだようなイノベーションで成功するIT企業が目立っている。基本的にはこの流れはコアに物理要素を保有する自動車産業などにも押し寄せている。最近、自動運転やMaaS(Mobility as a Seevice)絡みのニュースを目にしない日は無い。
