ABSTRACT
The aim is to design and implement a magnetically levitated
vertical axis wind turbine system that has the ability to operate
in both low and high (1.5m/s to 40m/s) wind speed conditions.
 This model uses magnetic levitation to reduce the internal
friction of the rotor which is considered as a revolution in the
field of wind technology.
 This technology provides an extreme efficient, versatile and
elegant method of producing power from wind with nearly zero
pollution.
OBJECTIVES
We intend to use the cheapest available sources as raw material for constructing a
power generation VAWT’s unit which can be used as a source of electricity for
Powering so as to make it cost-effective. Analysis of VAWT includes,
1. Taking different readings of power output at two different type wind mill first
Normal VAWT & another magnetic repulsive VAWT.
2. The main objective of this project is to assess the feasibility and economic
viability of utilizing– Wind–battery based standalone power supply systems to
meet the load requirements by using magnetic repulsive VAWT wind power
generation system.
3. To make nonconventional system which will give continues & sufficient power in
all working conditions.
4. To make energy efficient magnetic repulsive wind power generation system as an
low cost alternatives to conventional one.
FACTOR OF EEE
 Energy:- It generates energy itself
 Environmental:- Wind turbines are a form of renewable energy
that will help the environment by not producing emissions while
creating electricity. As an end result less fossil fuel would be
required in order to provide electricity for a house.
 Economic:- With a simpler design of these turbines and easier
assembly, it will make it possible for local hardware stores to sell
these products. Along with simpler design this will also decrease
manufacturing cost and make it more economical for families to
buy.
INTRODUCTION
Maglev technology serves as an efficient replacement for
ball bearings used on the conventional wind turbine and
implemented with permanent magnets.
 Unlike the traditional horizontal axis wind turbine, this
design is levitated via maglev (magnetic levitation)
vertically on a rotor shaft
 Vertical axis wind turbines accept wind from any direction.
HAWT designs are continuously getting bigger to produce more
power.
Increased blade size leads to large bending moments on the
blades at high rotational speeds.
In VerticalAxis Wind Turbine (VAWT) main axis is perpendicular to
the ground hence does not need the complicated head mechanisms
of conventional horizontal axis turbines..
NEED OF PROJECT
WHAT IS MAGLEV ?
 Maglev=Magnetic Levitation
 Operates on the repulsion characteristics of permanent
magnets.
 By placing these two magnets on top of each other with like
polarities facing each other, the magnetic repulsion will be
strong enough to keep both magnets at a distance away from
each other.
 The force created can be used for suspension purposes and is
strong enough to balance the weight of an object depending on
the threshold of the magnets

done the work on Vertical axis wind turbine provides
economically sustainable energy solution for remote areas
away from the integrated grid systems. With the purpose of
spread the use of VAWT, the problems associated with various
patterns, i.e. poor self-starting and low initial torque etc.,
should be overcome. Furthermore, following conclusions can
be drawn from the present review:

done the work on The system generates electrical power as
non-conventional method by wind energy power using wind
turbine set up. A careful selection has to be made for the
blade profile so that the losses will be minimum and the power
generation can be enhanced. Since the wind energy is not
constant at all the time so the operation of the wind machine
will be intermittent and the power production rate will also
vary; the component should be design in such a manner so
that the losses should be at minimum.

done the work on By using this technology all the highways can
be lightened without use of non- renewable energy resources. And
if this method is implemented in all national highways we will able
to reduce use of large amount of conventional power and it will
also save the environment from pollution

done the work on Vertical Axis Wind Turbine capable to run on
lower wind conditions in India. Following conclusion are
summarized from the experimental study.
1)Coefficient of performance (Cp) increases with velocity
2) Rotations per minute (RPM) increases with increase in velocity
3) Wind potential power is higher at Pune-Nashik highway
4) The wind velocity increases consistently with increase in altitude
PROBLEM FORMULATION
 In the early part of the century, coal was the dominant source of energy.
 The most acute problem with the large oil consumption is the environmental
concerns associated with oil, i.e. the greenhouse effect.
 The wind as a fuel for producing electricity is inexhaustible, free and always
available somewhere, and there is enough of it.
Increasing blade size adds extra weight to the blades, leading to higher
centrifugal and inertial forces that the blade must beable to resist.
In vertical axis turbines main axis is perpendicular to the ground, they
accept wind from any direction .
Maglev technology serves as an efficient replacement for ball bearings
used on the conventional wind turbine and is usually implemented with
permanent magnets

  • 3. ABSTRACT The aim is to design and implement a magnetically levitated vertical axis wind turbine system that has the ability to operate in both low and high (1.5m/s to 40m/s) wind speed conditions.  This model uses magnetic levitation to reduce the internal friction of the rotor which is considered as a revolution in the field of wind technology.  This technology provides an extreme efficient, versatile and elegant method of producing power from wind with nearly zero pollution.
  • 4. OBJECTIVES We intend to use the cheapest available sources as raw material for constructing a power generation VAWT’s unit which can be used as a source of electricity for Powering so as to make it cost-effective. Analysis of VAWT includes, 1. Taking different readings of power output at two different type wind mill first Normal VAWT & another magnetic repulsive VAWT. 2. The main objective of this project is to assess the feasibility and economic viability of utilizing– Wind–battery based standalone power supply systems to meet the load requirements by using magnetic repulsive VAWT wind power generation system. 3. To make nonconventional system which will give continues & sufficient power in all working conditions. 4. To make energy efficient magnetic repulsive wind power generation system as an low cost alternatives to conventional one.
  • 5. FACTOR OF EEE  Energy:- It generates energy itself  Environmental:- Wind turbines are a form of renewable energy that will help the environment by not producing emissions while creating electricity. As an end result less fossil fuel would be required in order to provide electricity for a house.  Economic:- With a simpler design of these turbines and easier assembly, it will make it possible for local hardware stores to sell these products. Along with simpler design this will also decrease manufacturing cost and make it more economical for families to buy.
  • 6. INTRODUCTION Maglev technology serves as an efficient replacement for ball bearings used on the conventional wind turbine and implemented with permanent magnets.  Unlike the traditional horizontal axis wind turbine, this design is levitated via maglev (magnetic levitation) vertically on a rotor shaft  Vertical axis wind turbines accept wind from any direction.
  • 7. HAWT designs are continuously getting bigger to produce more power. Increased blade size leads to large bending moments on the blades at high rotational speeds. In VerticalAxis Wind Turbine (VAWT) main axis is perpendicular to the ground hence does not need the complicated head mechanisms of conventional horizontal axis turbines.. NEED OF PROJECT
  • 8. WHAT IS MAGLEV ?  Maglev=Magnetic Levitation  Operates on the repulsion characteristics of permanent magnets.  By placing these two magnets on top of each other with like polarities facing each other, the magnetic repulsion will be strong enough to keep both magnets at a distance away from each other.  The force created can be used for suspension purposes and is strong enough to balance the weight of an object depending on the threshold of the magnets
  • 9. LITRATURE REVIEW SR. NO. AUTHORS FINDINGS 1 1)Prof. Sunil Shukla 2)Dr. P. K. Sharma , 3) Suryabhan Patil done the work on Vertical axis wind turbine provides economically sustainable energy solution for remote areas away from the integrated grid systems. With the purpose of spread the use of VAWT, the problems associated with various patterns, i.e. poor self-starting and low initial torque etc., should be overcome. Furthermore, following conclusions can be drawn from the present review: 2 1) N. Venkata Subbaiah done the work on The system generates electrical power as non-conventional method by wind energy power using wind turbine set up. A careful selection has to be made for the blade profile so that the losses will be minimum and the power generation can be enhanced. Since the wind energy is not constant at all the time so the operation of the wind machine will be intermittent and the power production rate will also vary; the component should be design in such a manner so that the losses should be at minimum.
  • 10. SR. NO. AUTHORS FINDINGS 3 1) Kalpesh chavda, 2) Tushar thakar done the work on By using this technology all the highways can be lightened without use of non- renewable energy resources. And if this method is implemented in all national highways we will able to reduce use of large amount of conventional power and it will also save the environment from pollution 4 1)Pratush Sambhus 2)R.S. Patil done the work on Vertical Axis Wind Turbine capable to run on lower wind conditions in India. Following conclusion are summarized from the experimental study. 1)Coefficient of performance (Cp) increases with velocity 2) Rotations per minute (RPM) increases with increase in velocity 3) Wind potential power is higher at Pune-Nashik highway 4) The wind velocity increases consistently with increase in altitude
  • 11. PROBLEM FORMULATION  In the early part of the century, coal was the dominant source of energy.  The most acute problem with the large oil consumption is the environmental concerns associated with oil, i.e. the greenhouse effect.  The wind as a fuel for producing electricity is inexhaustible, free and always available somewhere, and there is enough of it. Increasing blade size adds extra weight to the blades, leading to higher centrifugal and inertial forces that the blade must beable to resist. In vertical axis turbines main axis is perpendicular to the ground, they accept wind from any direction . Maglev technology serves as an efficient replacement for ball bearings used on the conventional wind turbine and is usually implemented with permanent magnets
