The Code Of Professional Conduct
The AICPA requires members to follow the Code of Professional Conduct in order for there to be
guidance and rules in regards to CPAs performance of professional responsibilities. One of these
rules includes independence, where the accountant should not have a financial interest in the client.
More specifically, within independence, the accountant should follow Interpretation 101 5: loans
from financial institution clients and related terminology, where independence is considered
impaired if a covered member holds a loanfrom a client owning 10 percent or more of a client.
However, there are exceptions which are grandfathered loans and other permitted loans, which
show cases where these loans would not be impaired. The AICPA stands

More specifically, accountants in public practice should be independent in fact and appearance
when providing auditing and other attestation services (AICPA Independence and Conflicts of
Interest). Independence in fact means ___. Independence in appearance means ___. Independence
will be impaired under the AICPA rules if an accountant does either of three things. First, if the
accountant makes investment decisions on behalf of audit clients or otherwise has discretionary
authority over an audit client s investments. Second, if the accountant executes a transaction to buy
or sell an audit client s investment. Third and lastly, if the accountant has custody of assets of the
audit client, such as taking temporary possession of securities purchased by the audit client. In
these cases, Independence would be impaired because the accountant would be aware of insider
information, which could benefit the accountant when making their own personal investment
decisions. However, there are ways in which accountants can provide services that do not impair
independence. First, if the accountant recommends the allocation of funds that an audit client
should invest in various asset classes, based on the client s risk tolerance and other factors. Second
if the accountant provides a comparative analysis of the audit client s investments to third party
benchmarks. Third, if the accountant reviews the manner in

How Did Django Reinhardt Influence Jazz
During World War II, the people of Europe had very limited forms of entertainment to keep them
positive and their spirt s up. One source of happiness and entertainment for them was music
though. Jazz grew in popularity in Europe after it was introduced by American troops to
Europeans during World War I. It remained popular between wars and was known as a symbol of
opposition to colonialism during the second World War. One of the most famous and influential jazz
guitarists of this era was Django Reinhardt. Django Reinhardt was one of the most prominent
musicians of his time for his style of combining American jazz with some Gypsy influences. His
personality and unique form of artistry made him a musicicon during such a dark time in world...

artist has truly stood the test of time having such a huge impact not only on jazz musicians today,
but various guitarists across different genres, inspiring great musicians like B.B. King and Carlos

The Importance Of Advertising And Marketing
The main goal of advertising and marketing is delivering the right message to the right person at
the right time. Having a strong an e commerce brand is vital for an e commerce business to be
successful. Marketing and advertising is almost as important as a brand. A major part to branding
is how the message is delivered. Advertisers have new and ingenious ways to get their advertising
messages to the consumer. Using the world wide web, social medias sites, display ads, video
advertisements along with mobile technology will increase visits and earnings to any e commerce
site.
The number one way for e commerce sites to advertise is the world wide web. A website is a
major tool for launching the initial connection with a consumer. Google for example, is a major
source of online advertising. This site alone has over 3.5 billion searches per day and 1.2 trillion
searches per year worldwide. To get an idea of companies advertising on the internet, there are close
to one billion websites on the Internet (Internet Live Stats, n.d. c).
Another ingenious way for an e commerce site to advertise is social media. Utilizing social media
as a marketing and advertisement involves promoting the brand and images directly to the
consumers that results in sales and services directly. With over 1 billion members, Facebook has a
membership equal to one sixth of the global population.
Mobile technology marketing and advertising tools involve the use of displays, banners, ads, search
engines,

Pirates Of The Music Industry Research Paper
Pirates of the Music Industry
The way consumers have shaped recorded music has always had an impact on the record industry.
In the history of recorded music, we have witnessed a great deal of technological change.
Although opinions may vary, we can reasonably assume that the way we consume music has
consistently increased and evolved since the invention of the first phonograph. While previous
generations focused on format and standards, in the early 21st century we saw a great upset in not
how we consume music, but how we gained access to new music digitally. As a technological
greedy society we began to witness the rise of music piracy in the record industry. Piracy is the use
of another person s idea, product or invention without their permission, ... Show more content on

Music piracy was sweeping the world, the record industry was taking an exuberant revenue
decrease. Consumers who would purchase an album in a retail store at market value were now
able to obtain their music for no price at all. Music pirates were able to download their favorite
songs to digital devices such as MP3 players and Steve Job s creation of the iPod. Between 1999
and 2008, annual U.S. revenue from physical recorded music products had fallen from $12.8
billion back to $5.5 billion (Woldfogel). This decrease would begin to cause concern for sales and
creation of new music. Record labels began to push for stronger copyright laws, the weak copyright
laws were causing major consequences in the recording industry with every investment made in
new artists and brands. The first attempt to prosecute someone who released copyrighted material
on the Internet, in 1994 collapsed embarrassingly when the judge threw out the charges existing
case law said that infringement had to be associated with financial gain, and the material had been
given away. The No Electronic Theft Act, passed in 1997, closed this loophole. The Digital
Millennium Copyright Act, passed in 1998, further strengthened the industry s hand it banned
attempts to circumvent copy protection (Mann). With obtaining stronger copyright laws, the record
industry would be able to efficiently protect each artist as they produced and released new albums

Emirates Airline: Connecting the Unconnected
Introduction
Late afternoon was fading to dusk as Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, gazed out at the
large crowds mingling outside at the 2013 Dubai Airshow. Front and center at the event was the
official program launch of the Boeing 777X, a massive new hit thanks to Emirates record order of
150 new planes. Valued at $76 billion at list prices, this was the largest airplane deal ever inked.
Letting his thoughts drift, he noted, he imagined with pride these planes joining the collection of
widebodied Emirates planes assembled on the tarmac of Dubai International Airport, ready to ferry
passengers from Europe, Asia, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Aviation in the Middle East
The 1980s aviation market in the Middle East was dominated by Gulf Air, a regional carrier
backed by the states of Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, and the emirate of Abu Dhabi. While several
European carriers serviced the region, the overall market was small and Gulf Air maintained a high
market share. The majority of its flights emanated from its four hub cities to points in the Middle
East, South
Asia, and Europe, primarily on a point to point network.
As a non core city for Gulf Air, Dubai experienced reductions in air service in 1985 that compelled
Dubai s leaders to launch its own airline. Local airline expertise was minimal, so the royal family
commissioned a small team of expatriate airline veterans, helmed by Sir Maurice Flanagan, to
charter the service they named Emirates. Divisional Senior Vice President (SVP) of Corporate
Communications, Marketing Brand Boutros Boutros remarked, Locals or expats, management all
had the same outlook and shared mentality, which ultimately helped build a successful and
cohesive executive team. 6 Armed with only two planes and $10 million in seed capital provided
by the
Government of Dubai, the airline initially developed a regional focus to connect underserved
markets. Emirates

Detecting The Properties Of The Planets
These techniques that the astronomers used in detecting the properties of the planets is more likely
in detecting the properties of the exoplanet and other far object in the solar system like the Pluto.
Even if it is so far away, Astronomers were able to see exoplanet by observing the host star with
various method they used like transit method, the one method they used to find the trappist 1.
Observing distant starrequires the use of the space telescope like the Kepler telescope and spitzer
telescope and it is study by the use of electromagnetic radiation emit by the star and the planet.
(spectroscopy) To be able to know the properties of the exoplanet, astronomers first determine the
properties of the host star of the exoplanet such as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you know the planets orbital speed and orbital period, we can work out the orbital radius. The
mass of the planet can also determine by the wobble method. As the planet orbit the sun,
gravitational pull of the planet makes the star wobble, changing the sun velocity. This change of
velocity can be detected by astronomical spectroscopy using redshift and blueshift. When the star
wobble closer to us, the star emits higher frequencies, longer wavelength, and showing bluer colour
when detecting to a spectroscope. When the star wobble away to us, the star emits lower
frequencies, shorter wavelength, and showing reddish colour in the spectroscope. How the planet
change the velocity of the sun determine the planet mass as gravitational pull of the planet depends
on the mass of the planet. This transit can also give the astronomer the estimated linear diameter of
the planet. When you know the star size, you can work out the size ratio of the planet and the star
when the planet transit the star. As I mentioned before, knowing the linear diameter of the planet
gives the astronomers the volume of the planet and volume of the planet and its mass determine the
density of the planets.
Knowing the properties of the planets, the astronomers can tell the conditions of the planets like
their atmosphere, and surface environments especially to the exoplanets because this is the only

quickly in the automotive industry. This can provide opportunities to firms from emerging
economies who try to enter the world stage of automotive production, provided they can react to
this more nimbly than established competitors. How technological change affects the supply chain
coordination of incumbents from developed economies and new entrants from emerging economies
should strongly determine the speed of competitive reaction. We use the example of automotive

Effective Internal Communication

Abstract
Proper communication with any company is imperative to its daily operations and employee
morale. Communication is defined as purposeful activity of exchanging information and meaning
using various techniques or natural means. Large companies can lose sight of this as they grow and
grow outside of their center of operations. When any company acquires additional business and
begins to run it in a different culture it is important to know how that culture or environment thinks,

The break down in the communication process has cost the company money and the challenge
of constant rework. The lack of communication is frustrating for lower level employees as it
seems to reach them last; yet impact them the greatest. They are on the front line with the
customers (doctors and hospitals) and have to deal and try to correct the problems before they
reach higher up management. There are too many, capricious methods of communications that
do not provide the employees with a simplified, efficient process to perform their duties. The
company s INTRANET site was developed to serve as a tool to distribute announcements,

The North American Free Trade Agreement (TPP)
The TPP, if signed and enforced, would eliminate 98% of trade and non trade tariffs, from everyday
produce to resources and energy, which would supposedly mean cheaper food, medications for
citizens in the signed countries. The agreement would also set standards for business practices to
online commerce, and regulates them, including minimum wages and labor standards. (Bajekal 14)
From past free trade treaties, critics have also argue that the jobs and prosperity TPP promises to
bring is merely a myth. As with the North American Free Trade Agreement(NAFTA), an agreement
signed by Canada, the United States and Mexico in 1994, the results of the treaty have been
abysmal for the U.S.: In 1993, the U.S. had a $1.66 billion trade surplus with ... Show more content

Precipitation Levels and the Affects to Beak Size
The experiment demonstrates the affect of precipitation levels to the beak size of finches on
Darwin Island and Wallace Island. The levels of rainfall not only affectthe beak sizes of the finches
but also the population over time. The experiments were conducted over a period of three
hundred years. The parameters remained constant over the three hundred year span to determine
the effect of more or less precipitation on the food sources for the finches. The level of rainfall
controls the types of seeds the birds eat. More rainfall creates smaller, softer seeds. Less ... Show

The size of Wallace Island was increased from 0.5 km to 1.0 km. and no change to the
precipitation level. Darwin Island size remained the same at 0.5 km but the level of
precipitation was increased from 20.0 cm to 50.0 cm. The experiment was conducted over a
three hundred year span with the same parameters to measure the affects to beak size over time.
The last experiment parameter changes were also to the island size and precipitation levels.
Darwin and Wallace Island size were increased from 0.5 km to 1.0 km. However, the
precipitation levels were changed to 40.0 cm from 20.0 cm on Darwin Island and reduced on
Wallace Island from 20.0 cm to 10.0 cm. This experiment provided the most drastic results in
beak size over a three hundred year span. The populations of the birds were almost the same
number after two hundred years. But, the beak sizes were markedly dissimilar. According to the
data, in the year 2210, the population of both islands had a difference of only 19 birds. However,
the beak size for the Darwin Island finches was 19.93 mm and the Wallace Island finches had beak
sizes of 24.29 mm.

A Christmas Memory Truman Capote
In the story, A Christmas Memory by Truman Capote, Buddy is the main character in the story
that doesn t have a real family that looks after him, except for his older cousin, who is the only
person who has ever offered to foster him and who would give up everything just for him. Buddy
and his older cousin have such a strong bond because they have been one another s familyfor a long
time, they have become best friends since they have done everything together while their other
relatives have left them to fend for themselves; true friends are the ones who would do anything to
make you happy when you re at your worst, this is exactly what buddy s cousin was for him and
what he was for her.
To start off, Buddy doesn t have a family to fall back on except for his cousin, he makes sure that
his cousin is always well taken care of and is always happy. Buddy will do absolutely anything
for his cousin, just as she would do for him. Buddy went to pick out a tree far from where they
had gone before because it made his cousin happy, Queenie wades the stream first, paddles across
barking complaints about the swiftness of the current. (69) Buddy would never go against his
cousins wishes knowing that it would disappoint her, Buddy goes to get the tree with his cousin
even though he knows that is it dangerous. Buddy knows that the tree is something that she wanted
and it meant something big to her, she is the only person Buddy has ever really had to care about,
he wants the best for her no matter what it is that he has to do.
Additionally, Buddy and his cousin maintain a successful life by working together and coming
up with creative ways to earn money, they never grew up having enough money, so they had to
make up for it by earning it themselves. Last summer others in the house contracted to pay us to a
penny for every twenty five flies we killed. Oh, the carnage of August: the flies that flew to
heaven! (66) They worked well together that summer in order to get the money from their
relatives, they most likely figured that if their relatives were going to give them anything, let it
might as well be money. Buddy and his cousin may not have liked each other, but they sure did
work well together when they were given

Itp Research Paper
What is ITP? ITP stands for Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura which is a scientific way of
saying the body has an abnormally low number of platelets. These platelets are cells in the blood
that help blood clot. When these cells are present in low numbers excessive bleeding and
bruising often occur. A common symptom is red blotches on the skin that do not blanch. These
spots are caused by bleeding underneath the skin. ITP affects both adults and children. In
children, it is normally a temporary condition. In adults, the condition is often chronic. A
diagnosis of ITP is a process of exclusion as similar symptoms appear in a range of other
conditions including HIV and lupus. Once these conditions are ruled out, treatment begins. The
first step to any sort of treatment is to speak with a physician. Only a doctor is able to diagnose
ITP and specialists often work for years or decades to treat conditions such as ITP. As the condition
is often chronic in adults and potentially life threatening, the most important step to recovery is to
see a physician. What is Traditional Chinese Medicine?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Standardized Testing, By Alfie Kohn
Terminate Testing
State mandated standardized testing has lately become a monster to be feared by students from the
beginning of their school career. According to well respected educational author Alfie Kohn, [...]
Most of today s discourse about education has been reduced to a crude series of monosyllables: Test
scores are too low. Make them go up (Kohn 1). Why all the testing? Some is to meet the federal
government requirements, some to meet state requirements, some for the district and some for the
school, and still more tests are given simply to help students prepare for the ones already
mentioned. So much testing has reduced time for instructors to actually teach. In addition, many of
the tests neglect to cover all important material, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During a TED talk in 2013, Sir Ken Robinson, a speaker, author, and educational advisor, stated:
Finland regularly comes out on top in math, science and reading. The thing about [...] Finland is
this: [...] They have a very broad approach to education, which includes humanities, physical
education, the arts. He later explains, Kids prosper best with a broad curriculum that celebrates
their various talents, not just a small range of them. And by the way, the arts aren t just important
because they improve math scores. They re important because they speak to parts of children s
being which are otherwise untouched ( How to Escape Education s Death Valley ). In other
words, there are abstract things like humanities and the arts that are vitally important parts of an
adult life that can be taught in schools but would be difficult to test. Because of the difficulty
found in attempting to test on these subjects, schools are tempted and it seems somewhat
encouraged to drop or spend less time and money on them in order to focus more on the subjects
that will raise the scores. However, some people believe that the test given today are reasonable
and necessary. In an effort to argue for the tests, Latasha Gandy, the Minnesota Program Director

Worship Lessons From Isaiah.
WORSHIP LESSONS FROM ISAIAH
As we continue with Worship Lessons from the Old Testament we will dive into the book of
Isaiah. Before I get into my main point, I wanted to give you a quick biography of the prophet
Isaiah, since many of us, including myself, have at one time or another skimmed through this book.
Who exactly was the prophet Isaiah?
Born In Jerusalem
Lived about 700 years before Christ
Jewish tradition says he was of royal descent and may have been a cousin of King Uzziah
He was married to a prophetess (Isaiah 8:3) and had two sons.
His ministry lasted at least 40 years
Quoted the New Testament more than any other prophet and the list can go on and on.... (but I will
spare you from boredom)
You might ask, HOW DOES HIS LIFE HAVE ANY SIGNIFICANCE OF WORSHIP IN TODAY
S DAY AND AGE?
To answer that question lets look at what the definition of worship is? Worship is to honor with
extravagant love and extreme submission (Webster s Dictionary, 1828). We quickly tend to assume
that the only worshiper in the old testament was King David. We have a misconception that
because he was gifted and talented in music that he is automatically a worshiper but we have to
be careful that we don t fall victim to categorizing worship or leadership mainly into something
YOU DO as oppose to something that YOU LIVE. To go a little further in depth, let me break
down a certain event in Isaiah s life that I think really showcases him and what true worship really
is.

Rites of passage according to Arnold Van Gennep (1960) are experiences of transition that
represent growth in life which can be divided into; rites of separation, in which the individual is
divorced from their familiar environment, rites of transition, in which the old identity is destroyed
and a temporary one created, and the rites of aggregation where the individual is reintegrated into
society in their new role. The 2016 wedding can be understood as a rite of separation where the
bride and groom give up their single identity upon engagement, another example can be seen
where the bride is given away by the father of the bride, shedding one family identity for another.
The rite of transition can be seen where they are stripped of their single identity upon engagement
and placed in a liminal state with identities of Bride and Groom until the conclusion of the
transition (Turner, 1987). Finally, the rite of aggregation can be observed as the two individuals are
presented with their new identities and re enter society as Husband and Wife via ring and vow

It is blatant that the only acceptable course of action is a systematic change in the system, from all

accountability needs to be found between the member schools, and the actual organization. Once a

referred to as soft computing, pioneered by a man named Lofti Zadeh (Peterson). Lofti Zadeh

Zadeh s early life was spent under the influence of Soviet ideas. In an interview with Betty Blair,

The choice is no longer just zero or one. Fuzzy logic allows for fuzzy sets, which do not rigidly
follow a yes or no logic when attempting to determine the elements of such a set. Fuzzy sets can
include partial elements; elements that may or may not belong to the set depending on other
circumstances (Peterson). Because of this flexibility, fuzzy sets are used in soft computing, a
process engineers now use in many modern home appliances. Prior to the 1970 s, fuzzy logic had
not been put into practical, real world use. This changed when many Japanese manufacturers began
to implement simple fuzzy systems in their household products, leading to the vast amount of items
which make use of soft computing today (Zadeh).
To go back to a previous example, my washing machine determines which type of cycle to use
based on the weight of the clothing. A small load or a medium load is not rigidly defined, but the
fuzzy logic allows the washing machine to approximate the type of cycle it should use. An
amount of clothes on the cusp of both small and medium could be placed in either category,
depending on other variables such as fabric mix and the amount of detergent ( Fuzzy logic ). In
this specific example fuzzy logic and soft computing can lead to errors, such as a wash cycle
erroneously stopping after the clothes become heavier due to

The Hagen Farm Superfund Site is Used for Agricultural Needs
The Hagen Farm Superfund Site is located in the town of Dunkirk in Dane County, Wisconsin.
The 28 acre Hagen Farm is centered in a rural community with about 350 people residing within
1 mile of the superfund site. Approximately 1 mile west of Dunkirk is the city of Stoughton
which has an extraterritorial jurisdictional boundary that incorporates the Hagen Farm Site. This
area has been utilized primarily for agricultural needs, but has also been used for sand and gravel
mining and commercial business. The site is located in the Yahara River watershed, and the
southerly flowing Yahara River is located about 1.5 miles to the west of Hagen Farm, and the
groundwater flows south, west, and east away from the site. The Stoughton Airfield is also located
in proximity to the northwestern portion of the site. The Hagen Farm acquired its name when the
property was sold to farmer and sheep grazer Orrin Hagen in 1970.
Prior to the late 1950s the site was used as an excavation pit for sand and gravel. The quarry was
subsequently used for the disposal of waste materials from 1950 until 1966. 10 acres of the 28 acre
site has been used as a disposal area for several hazardous waste contaminants that included
volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as benzene, tetrahydrofuran, toluene, vinyl chloride and
xylene; other organics such as phenols and PCBs as well as lead. The main area of contamination

Birds In Kate Chopin s The Awakening
Birds are a common sight in most places people tend to be. These winged creatures are seen in
bustling places like the pigeons that are in urban and suburban areas, the woodpeckers in rural
regions, the crows on farms, and even in cages within buildings. In fact, these elegant creatures
are so common a sight in society that they are often overlooked and underappreciated. This is
similar to how women were and sometimes still are treated within society; they are given little
appreciation when they are present and doing as they are told, but when they do not do as they are
told they become a problem. This parallel that can be drawn between women and birds is used
throughout Kate Chopin s novel, The Awakening, in which its main character Edna Pontellier is
often likened to and symbolized by a bird. Throughout the novel, the bird acts as a theme and
symbol of both Edna and women in general. To start, many comparisons can be drawn between
Edna and an imprisoned bird. The first lines of the novel describe [a] green and yellow parrot,
which hung in a cage outside the door (Chopin 5). Starting at the bird s physical description, the
brightly colored feathers of this creature strongly represent the power and... Show more content on

brave birds that women s roles in society have changed so greatly within the last century. In no

to women both real and fictional who went against societal

Slavery During The Twentieth Century
Jeremy Black has recently stated slavery played a major role in the twentieth century. The twentieth
century, he argues, witnessed a highpoint in slavery as it rose to a new peak. He defines slavery as
being public which differs from the conventional account of enslavement, economic exploitation
and racism. For Black, the conventional account of slaveryhas been easier to define and confront.
This dissertation through the work of three authors: Buchi Emecheta, Ayi Kwei Armah and Tayeb
Salih aims to act as a corrective to approaches similar to Black s theory, that slavery has been easily
defined, by demonstrating the tension between remembering and forgetting history. The twentieth
century narratives trace the history of the Atlantic slave tradethrough contemporary Africa,
reflecting the role of slavery in present day. The works unearth remnants of the past in order to
locate African memories in literature and bring them forth from the margins of history. Each author
originates from different geographical locations in Africa, which allows various forms of slavery to
emerge in the narratives, representing slavery as continuing to haunt the African psyche.
In tracing transatlantic slave trade literature, Achille Mbembe states, there is, properly speaking no
African memory presenting the void of African voices in the history of the slave trade. The
memories depicted in literature are as Paul Connerton claims remembered by those in power

Brave New World States Research Paper
Home of the Brave America has long promised a life of ease for all citizens. Today, our
technological and scientific developments keep thousands of people, if not happy, then
comfortable. Correspondingly, the inhabitants of the World State portrayed in Aldous Huxley s
Brave New World live entirely content lifestyles due to their technological and scientific
advances. Both the World State and modern American societies share a common background,
and while Huxley s futuristic world may have advanced farther than our society has, America is
continually developing into a Brave New World. Parallels of the two worlds exist in abundance
within the novel, perhaps the most obvious examples of which lie in the desire to retain youth
and the use of drugs in both societies. World State citizens never grow old, at least not on the
surface. Huxley explains how his characters . . .keep their internal secretions artificially balanced
at a youthful equilibrium (111). The process described allows Huxley s characters to continue to
look young as their bodies grow old. Subsequently, a thirty year old character appears the same as
a sixty year old character, their skin having never wrinkled or sagged. However, the retaining of
youth does not suppress the internal effects of aging, the sixty year... Show more content on

The Consequences Of Huck Finn
As certain characters use language as a source of power, others use it to help others. It is these
different motivations that sharpen the image for who has good and bad intentions, allowing
differing consequences to occur. As a result of lying, this leads to conflicting morals and inevitable
consequences that have an impact on everyone else. In the novel Huck Finn Mark Twainargues that
lying is wrong and is a source of power that certain characters use to either help others or
themselves; however, the consequences are different due to these different motivations with
characters such as the King, Duke and Huck who end up having a greater impact on the rest of the
community.
Although Huck lies to help others most of the time, his conflicting morals hold him back which
results in a stronger impact than intended. In the beginning of the novel, Huck states, You don t

was things which he stretched, but mainly he told the truth(Twain 11). Huck is defensive and
makes it clear that he is trustworthy and does not lie, which is not true. Huck questions his morals

In some compliments Creon is seen as respectable but with others as evil. The large fall that
Creon took was the fall from the good grace of being a loved king. According to the book on
pages 256 and 257, Your people are beginning to question your decision and are starting to agree
with Antigone. This is the original stage of Creon s dawdling fall from power. His people may
see him as a fine leader, but the people who are under his authority see him as an unfit leader to

for the great fall that this tragic hero is supposed to come upon.
A tragic hero is hypothetical to either have a character mistake or an error of judgment. In the play,
Creon has two mistakes. He has the character flaw of willful pride and his inflexible behavior
and he has the flaw of making and error of judgment when he passes the announcement. He
understands his character flaw when he states, According to the book on pages 93 and 94, Oh it

error of judgment is when he permits the

Digital Signal Processing
With the advent of digitization in every field from communication to media, the need for methods
to process digital signals is more important than ever. Now that I am on the threshold of
embarking on a career that will encompass a major part of my adult life, I think it is natural that I
veer towards Signal processing. As I look back, I feel that my natural inclination and excellence in
mathematics from childhood has led me along this path. Digital Signal processingincorporates the
use of mathematics to manipulate an information signal to modify or improve it in some way,
fitting naturally into my area of strength and interest.
I graduated from high school with 97% in Physics, Chemistry and Maths as a result of which I was
admitted in SSN, ranked amongst the top engineering colleges in India. During my undergraduate
study in Electronics and Communications Engineering I developed a liking for subjects like Digital
Communication, Digital Image Processing, Digital Signal Processing.etc which provided me with a
fundamental knowledge about digital signals and a thirst to explore more.
My actual venture into DSP, started during fifth semester holidays when I attend a course on DSP
Applications conducted by IIT Madras and Analog Devices. This gave me a great opportunity to
work with several professors in IIT on projects like Noise Cancellation, Image Restoration using

The Governmental Branches Of The United States Essay
Three governmental branches were created by the new constitution: an executive branch, a
judicial branch and a legislative branch. The constitution called for the election of a governor
and 24 senators and identified eligible voters as men who were possessed of freeholds of the
value of one hundred pounds, over and above all debts charged thereon. The constitution also
called for the election of 70 assemblymen for 14 declared counties who were to be elected by
male inhabitant of full age, who shall have personally resided within one of the counties of New
York State for six months immediately preceding the day of election. New York also guaranteed the
right to trial by jury, which had been eroded under British rule. The Constitution granted the
national government more power than under the Articles of Confederation. Many Americans were
concerned that the national government with its new powers, as well as the new division of power
between the central and state governments, would threaten liberty. Legislative Branch New York
State Legislature refers to the two houses that act as the state legislature of the U.S. state of New
York. The New York Constitution does not designate an official term for the two houses together. It
says only that legislative power is vested in the senate and assembly. The Legislature, through its
varied functions, serves as a check upon the executive authority of the Governor and helps ensure

A Descriptive Essay About My House
In my lifetime, I have lived in 4 different homes. None of them can even compare to the very first
home I lived in, in my hometown of Allentown, Pennsylvania. It was a quaint duplex home that
was on a tranquil street underneath a towering maple tree. Nothing will ever be able to replace
its permanent spot in my heart. Through my eyes, my house seemed like a castle and I was the
princess. The backyard was my favorite part of the whole house. It was always so luminous with
dew and the lingering smell of petrichor in the air. The grass always felt as soft as silk. It almost
seemed like little feathers tickling your feet. The lawn was also filled with plants of all shapes
and sizes, varying from as dainty as a dandelion, to as mighty as a pine tree. My favorite plant in
my backyard were the clovers, which grew in copious amounts. Whenever I was bored, I would
search for four leafed clovers in hopes of having eternal luck. Walking along the side of the house,
you can see the different shades of red and white bricks used to build the home that I admired so
much. At the base of the house, next to the gigantic maple tree, grew a running vine that had
massive greenleaves. That vine grew us pumpkins that we used to carve and make our own
homemade pumpkin pie. Then, there was the front of the house that was built with oversized,
textured, white bricks. In the center of the house was a large window. Below it was a green and
silver aluminum awning that reflected

Essay on Higher Security at College Football Games
College football is a major part of many peoples lives, especially here in the South. Whether we
or someone we know is an alumni, we plan to go there in the future we think the uniforms are
cute, or whatever reason, we always have one favorite team we cheer for. sometimes fans of a team
will wear a shirt with the teams logo and that is as far as their loyalty goes. Others may attend a few
games a season, but there are also those die hard fans that never miss a gameor always tailgating,

A huge part of going to college football games is tailgating. People always enjoy the fellowship,
food, and for some, alcohol before watching the game. Colleges could raise the cost of the
tailgating spots slightly and make a huge amount of money. Raising the cost of a tailgating spot is
yet another way just a small amount from everyone adds up to make a huge difference for the
school.
The football teams already have several companies sponsoring them, but finding more companies
to give money to the football programs would not be difficult at all. Sponsoring the team helps a
company s business and if spectators know their safety from tighter security was paid for by a
certain company, their business would increase even more. Once the idea is proposed to
companies, gaining more sponsors, and therefore more money for security, would be a breeze.
I personally love going to games. I always have so much fun, but I have also seen fans be
entirely too competitive. It is a scary feeling not knowing if something were to happen or even
worse, if something did happen, would there be security to help before myself or someone else
gets hurt. I speak not only for myself, but for all the other football fans like me when I say
having tighter security on campus during a game would lift a heavy burden off of our shoulders
and make us feel a whole lot safer. Paying for the extra security would be no problem, either with an

So This Is Nibraska
So this is Nebraska is a poem by Ted Kooser in the postmodern age. The poem had been written in
present tense, probably to emphasize the current state of rural Nebraska, which is a small village in
America.
The poem describes a Sunday afternoon in July in Nebraska and this is mentioned in the third
stanza of the poem all the other descriptive language in the poem is used to explain this setting.
The very first paragraph is a compound complex sentence. The purpose of this is to slow the pace
of the poem. In the first line the gravel road rides, the road is being personified, further
description of telephone lines is given to create the image of a long monotones. A visual image

Tactile imagery is used with the phrase squeezing the air, this immediately makes the reader identify
with the environment and feel like he/she is there in Nebraska. In the 4th line of this stanza
anthropomorphism has been used because the meadowlarks are waiting and the author had given
them human qualities. The word waiting suggests that it is very still and silent in Nebraska.
The fourth stanza talks about a shelterbelt of cedars and a visual image is used here to make the
trees seem big and protected. An auditory image is used to describe the staring up of the engine of
the pick up truck.
The 5th stanza the phrase you feel has been repeated several times to elaborate the feeling that
the u in the poem is yearning to feel which is laid back and care free. The 5th stanza also suggests
that the u in the poem wants to fit into the environment. The phrase tires go flat implies silence
and lack of movement. The 5th stanza is also one big long compound complex, which runs into the
next stanza to slow the pace and contribute to this feeling of silence. The tone of this stanza is laid
back suggesting that the u in the poem wants to be off card and calm. The 6th stanza starts with an
onomatopoeic word clucking to describe the various sounds in the environment. The narrator says
that the u in the poem feels like holding a skinny old man in his/her lap... Waiting for someone to
wave to.

Symbolism and the Theme of Incest in quot; The Fall of the...
Symbolism and incest are both very apparent themes throughout the story of The Fall of the House
of Usher , by Edgar Allan Poe, and helps us to better understand the events that occur. Poe uses his
symbolism to reveal character traits, foreshadow future events and helps his reader to understand
the events that occur throughout the story. Throughout the story we realize that the relationship
between brother and sister is not a normal sibling bond. We also see that the siblings themselves are
not normal in all the aspects of a human being. Incest is an issue throughout the story and Poe
constantly used symbolism in the story to relate back to incest. Poe uses symbolism to expose
character traits throughout the story, from the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As dark as his home is, so is his soul, he is a dark depressed man. Even the music he listens to is
just instrumentals and never is upbeat or of a happy sound, it s always sad or scary music that
is played. He could also only wear silk because his skin was so sensitive, and he could only eat
bland food. He and his sister have the most pale skin and unhealthy hair, which is all a direct
cause from being products of incest. The house is always being referred to as alive, and
throughout the story different parts of the house are being talked about as though they are body
parts of a human. Minute fungi overspread the whole exterior, just as a disease or an illness
would overcome a human body (Poe 716). They say the house has eye like windows and are of a
crimson red. The house is connected to the family and the family name, because this family is
the only family to have ever lived in this house, and the house has `seen everything that has gone
on with the family from the very beginning. As long as the house stays up and strong the family
name will remain and continue, but if the house were to crumble the family members in it would
die with the house. Because the house is almost like their hearts, and as long as it s alive and well
they will stay alive and well, and the family name will be carried on. Both he and

How Did Christopher Columbus Imperialism
he history of early Imperialism and Colonialism is filled with stories of conquest, enslavement, and
forced conversion. European nations including Spain required the establishment of a moral
justification for these actions. The Spaniard claimed a moral imperative and further, a moral
obligation to save the indigenous people from themselves. The Spanish also used racial superiority
as a justification for their actions. The result of the beliefs in racial and religious superiority was the
subjugation, Exploitation, enslavement and near extermination of the native peoples of New Spain
and the Caribbean.

Aristotle s Views On Politics
Politics is a political philosophical work by Aristotle, a fourth century Greek Philosopher, logician
and scientist. Along with his teacher Plato, Aristotle is considered as one of the most influential
ancient thinkers of political theory in western civilization. Therefore, it is important to understand
the gist of his work Politics from our perspective. Influenced by Platos Republic and Laws, Politics
presents synthesis of lifetime political thoughts and observations. The philosopher attempts to
answer many questions such as; the relation between states and people, harnessing the best life
style of citizens, best education, type of constituents, democracy, inequality and slavery. These are
crucial topics in present world politics as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Becoming biased towards Greek, he supports slavery. Aristotle relates citizenship with holding of
public office and administration of justice. According to him, those are citizens whose parents were
also citizens. This depicts Aristotle being conservative philosopher of Greece where citizenship was
given to only privileged class. He opposed the idea of citizenship to foreigners, slaves and women.
According to him, the latter group of people don t have moral and intellectual skills to hold public
offices.
One of the remarkable issues in Politics is about good citizen and good men. According to the
work, good citizen and good men are different things. Good citizen knows how to rule and how to
obey. A good man is one who is suitable to rule. But a good citizen knows how to rule abiding by
the rule. Therefore, for Aristotle, citizenship was a matter of moral training as well.
Another important aspect of Politics is its explanation about constitutions. There are 6 types of
constitutions. Among them, three are just and three are unjust. A constitution becomes just when it
benefits all in the city states while the same becomes unjust if it benefits the ruler only. He
considers the mix of democracy and oligarchy will allow the best constitution.
In Books IV to VI, Aristotle moves towards the practical examination of political institutions. He
found the differences between needs of city states due to differences in wealth , population
distribution and

The Code Of Professional Conduct The AICPA requires members to follow the Code of Professional Conduct in order for there to be guidance and rules in regards to CPAs performance of professional responsibilities. One of these rules includes independence, where the accountant should not have a financial interest in the client. More specifically, within independence, the accountant should follow Interpretation 101 5: loans from financial institution clients and related terminology, where independence is considered impaired if a covered member holds a loanfrom a client owning 10 percent or more of a client. In the history of recorded music, we have witnessed a great deal of technological change. Although opinions may vary, we can reasonably assume that the way we consume music has consistently increased and evolved since the invention of the first phonograph. While previous generations focused on format and standards, in the early 21st century we saw a great upset in not how we consume music, but how we gained access to new music digitally. As a technological greedy society we began to witness the rise of music piracy in the record industry. Piracy is the use of another person s idea, product or invention without their permission, ... Consumers who would purchase an album in a retail store at market value were now able to obtain their music for no price at all. Music pirates were able to download their favorite songs to digital devices such as MP3 players and Steve Job s creation of the iPod. Between 1999 and 2008, annual U.S. revenue from physical recorded music products had fallen from $12.8 billion back to $5.5 billion (Woldfogel). This decrease would begin to cause concern for sales and creation of new music. Record labels began to push for stronger copyright laws, the weak copyright laws were causing major consequences in the recording industry with every investment made in new artists and brands. The first attempt to prosecute someone who released copyrighted material on the Internet, in 1994 collapsed embarrassingly when the judge threw out the charges existing case law said that infringement had to be associated with financial gain, and the material had been given away. The No Electronic Theft Act, passed in 1997, closed this loophole. The Digital Millennium Copyright Act, passed in 1998, further strengthened the industry s hand it banned attempts to circumvent copy protection (Mann). Aviation in the Middle East The 1980s aviation market in the Middle East was dominated by Gulf Air, a regional carrier backed by the states of Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, and the emirate of Abu Dhabi. While several European carriers serviced the region, the overall market was small and Gulf Air maintained a high market share. The majority of its flights emanated from its four hub cities to points in the Middle East, South Asia, and Europe, primarily on a point to point network. As a non core city for Gulf Air, Dubai experienced reductions in air service in 1985 that compelled Dubai s leaders to launch its own airline. Local airline expertise was minimal, so the royal family commissioned a small team of expatriate airline veterans, helmed by Sir Maurice Flanagan, to charter the service they named Emirates. If you know the planets orbital speed and orbital period, we can work out the orbital radius. The mass of the planet can also determine by the wobble method. As the planet orbit the sun, gravitational pull of the planet makes the star wobble, changing the sun velocity. This change of velocity can be detected by astronomical spectroscopy using redshift and blueshift. When the star wobble closer to us, the star emits higher frequencies, longer wavelength, and showing bluer colour when detecting to a spectroscope. When the star wobble away to us, the star emits lower frequencies, shorter wavelength, and showing reddish colour in the spectroscope. A common symptom is red blotches on the skin that do not blanch. These spots are caused by bleeding underneath the skin. ITP affects both adults and children. In children, it is normally a temporary condition. In adults, the condition is often chronic. • 23. Birds In Kate Chopin s The Awakening Birds are a common sight in most places people tend to be. These winged creatures are seen in bustling places like the pigeons that are in urban and suburban areas, the woodpeckers in rural regions, the crows on farms, and even in cages within buildings. In fact, these elegant creatures are so common a sight in society that they are often overlooked and underappreciated. This is similar to how women were and sometimes still are treated within society; they are given little appreciation when they are present and doing as they are told, but when they do not do as they are told they become a problem. This parallel that can be drawn between women and birds is used throughout Kate Chopin s novel, The Awakening, in which its main character Edna Pontellier is often likened to and symbolized by a bird. Throughout the novel, the bird acts as a theme and symbol of both Edna and women in general. To start, many comparisons can be drawn between Edna and an imprisoned bird. The first lines of the novel describe [a] green and yellow parrot, which hung in a cage outside the door (Chopin 5). • 25. Slavery During The Twentieth Century Jeremy Black has recently stated slavery played a major role in the twentieth century. The twentieth century, he argues, witnessed a highpoint in slavery as it rose to a new peak. He defines slavery as being public which differs from the conventional account of enslavement, economic exploitation and racism. For Black, the conventional account of slaveryhas been easier to define and confront. This dissertation through the work of three authors: Buchi Emecheta, Ayi Kwei Armah and Tayeb Salih aims to act as a corrective to approaches similar to Black s theory, that slavery has been easily defined, by demonstrating the tension between remembering and forgetting history. The twentieth century narratives trace the history of the Atlantic slave tradethrough contemporary Africa, reflecting the role of slavery in present day. The works unearth remnants of the past in order to locate African memories in literature and bring them forth from the margins of history. Each author originates from different geographical locations in Africa, which allows various forms of slavery to emerge in the narratives, representing slavery as continuing to haunt the African psyche. In tracing transatlantic slave trade literature, Achille Mbembe states, there is, properly speaking no African memory presenting the void of African voices in the history of the slave trade. The memories depicted in literature are as Paul Connerton claims remembered by those in power demonstrating the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Today, our technological and scientific developments keep thousands of people, if not happy, then comfortable. Correspondingly, the inhabitants of the World State portrayed in Aldous Huxley s Brave New World live entirely content lifestyles due to their technological and scientific advances. Both the World State and modern American societies share a common background, and while Huxley s futuristic world may have advanced farther than our society has, America is continually developing into a Brave New World. Parallels of the two worlds exist in abundance within the novel, perhaps the most obvious examples of which lie in the desire to retain youth and the use of drugs in both societies. World State citizens never grow old, at least not on the surface. Huxley explains how his characters . . .keep their internal secretions artificially balanced at a youthful equilibrium (111). The process described allows Huxley s characters to continue to look young as their bodies grow old.
