book focuses on the Ibo culture and the oral traditions within the indigenous society. Because the
Ibo people do not have a written language, the book shows oral tradition mainly storytelling as the
main shaping force for their culture and society. Throughout the book, some stories merely provide
entertainment while others help create personal bonds. Although both reasons for telling stories are
important to the Ibo society, storytelling is most crucial to the Ibo culture because it preserves the
religion, societal values, and gender roles within its community. Lacking a written document
such as the Bible, the Ibo religion relies on oral storytelling to pass on religious beliefs. In the
later half of the book, Christian missionaries arrive at the Ibo villages and begin to gain converts.
This spreading of Christian beliefs soon threatens to replace the native Ibo religion. After the
missionaries arrival, one of the Ibo religious leaders, Akunna, meets with a missionary to discuss

classic was converted into an hour and ten minute long film (in 1954) which is suitable and
supposedly appealing to young children.
However, the conversion between the novella and the cartoon meant having to cut down and alter
some of the storyline and characters within the novella to suit this age range but at the same time,
trying not to lose the basic structure of the novella and the messages given out by George Orwell
throughout the book.
I felt that on a whole, the cartoon version of Animal Farm did not maintain the textual integrity to
the novella. However, you find that this is the case with most films that have been converted from
books. Although the basic storyline of the novella was suitable for children, the meaning behind it
was beyond the understanding of this age range. I feel that the producers took on a very hard task
to try and convert this high standard novella into a film for all ages.
The purpose of the novella was clear, it is a piece of political satire, mainly concerning the Russian
Revolution. I did not feel however, that this came across in the film in any way. The film was
clearly aimed at children, as the simplicity of the converted storyline was obvious. Although they

In this paper, I will be writing about my reflection and reaction to an Upon Awakening Alcoholic
Anonymous meeting which was held at the Unity of Sedona Church, 65 Deer Trail in Sedona,
Arizona on Thursday, October 29, 2015. This meeting was held at 7:30 AM in the morning. The
meeting consisted of an eleven step grouping of middle aged men and women ranging from ages
30 to 65 years old. There were seven men and thirteen women whose purpose was to practice
prayer through the eleventh step of the Big Book. The meeting started out with an introduction of
everyone who was present. They stated their names and said they were alcoholics and how long
they had been sober. They continued to go over old business, and then proceeded to read from the

One of the early test programs to study the performance of sprinklers for tunnel protection was
conducted in the Ofenegg tunnel in Switzerland in 1965. The tunnel was an old single track
railway tunnel, 4 m wide at the base and 6 m high. Three fire sizes obtained with aircraft petrol
fuel were used in the test with following specifications: (a) 100L and 6.6 m2 pool size; (b) 500 L
and 47.5 m2 pool size; and (c) 1000 L and 95 m2 pool size. Two lines of sprinklers were installed on
the ceiling of the tunnel. The water capacity was 19 L/(min m2). There was no information on the
sprinkler system activation time.
The fires developed very quickly during the tests and the maximum temperature was reached 1 to 2
minutes after ignition. Temperatures in the tunnel were quite high with maximum temperatures
near the ceiling ranging from 1200 degree Celsius to 1400 degree Celsius prior to sprinkler
activation.
The sprinklers were able to extinguish all of the fires within a short period of time. But, a
significant quantity of hot steam was obtained during fire suppression. Visibility was found to
decrease because of hot steam and cooling of the smoke layer by the sprinklers discharge. Smoke

In 1941, Germans started to transport the people they believed were the least useful from the
ghettos to the concentration camps. Many of these people were sick, old and very young. On
March 17, 1942, the first gassings began at the camp of Belzec. From then, five more mass killing
centers were built at camps in Poland. Between 1942 and 1945, Jews were taken to the camps from
all over Europe. In Warsaw ghetto, 300,000 Jews were taken and placed into a camp and at
Auschwitz more than 2 million people were murdered. Within the labor camps, there was a large
population of Jewish and non Jewish prisoners who were not only gassed, but thousands of others
either died of disease or starvation. A large proportion of Hungary s Jewish population was taken
to Auschwitz, killing as many as 12,000 Jews every day.
