What are the primary aims of HPV.edu?
› The primary aim of the trial is to increase the uptake of HPV
vaccination.
› Secondary aims are to:
(a) improve vaccination-related psychosocial outcomes,
including knowledge and attitudes, decision-making
involvement, self-efficacy, and fear and anxiety, and
(b) improve program logistical outcomes, including reduction
in time spent vaccinating adolescents and increased number
of consent forms returned (regardless of
decision).

An online biosurveillance system called sickchildcare.org was implemented to monitor gastrointestinal and influenza-like illnesses in child care centers. The system collected daily illness reports from participating centers starting in 2013. Compared to state surveillance data, sickchildcare.org identified illness outbreaks up to one week earlier and detected more cases during the study period. The results suggest web-based surveillance of child care centers provides an effective method for early detection of outbreaks and has potential for year-round illness monitoring.

So to reduce child mortality ,requires tackling perinatal causes and co-ordinated strategies to reduce antenatal and perinatal risk factors are essential .We need to identify evidence based prevention strategies which start in pregnancy and continue into the first years of a baby's life to reduce harm and build resilience .We need to understand what are the barriers and facilitators of behavioural change in pregnant women and health professionals .This presentation will outline some of the neurodevelopmental and anatomical changes in the child's brain which are most affected by forms of child abuse and neglect and outline current Scottish Government policies which are delivering on prevention , to make Scotland ‘The best place to grow up ‘. Dr Katherine McKay has been a consultant paediatrician since 1995, working in areas of high deprivation in Glasgow. Her special interests are Community Paediatrics, particularly disability, including children with complex needs and life limiting conditions, child protection and the vulnerable child, and interagency work with social work and education. She became Lead Clinician for Community Child Health in Glasgow in 2000, and Clinical Director from 2005 till 2010 covering all of the Glasgow City CHCPs and CHPs in a period of significant organisational change towards Integrating Children's Services across health, education and social work. She has been a fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health since 1994, Clinical Adviser to NHS QIS on the first Standards for Children's Services published in 2004 for Children and Young People with Asthma and then was an Associate Inspector for HMIE in the Child Protection Inspections. She was National Clinical Lead for Children and Young People's Health in Scotland from August 2010 to 2012 and then became Senior Medical Officer for Child Health in October 2012. Since October 2012 her main policy input has been in Early Years, especially the Implementation of GIRFEC, in universal health services; the identification and response to vulnerable children by health services; Child Death Review Systems; and the health service input to Looked After Children. She continues a clinical practice one day every fortnight.

It was found that developing locally-produced sanitary pads, creating school-based awareness programs involving teachers and parents, and raising community awareness through partnerships could help address challenges.

This study tested the effect of weekly SMS messages on HIV testing rates among young women in rural Kenya. - 600 young women from 4 colleges were enrolled and randomly assigned to receive either weekly SMS on HIV/reproductive health or no messages (control group). - Those receiving messages had significantly higher rates of HIV testing - 67% tested compared to 51% of the control group. The SMS intervention increased the rate of HIV testing by 57%.

Acute viral hepatitis is the most common parenchymal liver disease seen in community. It is a worldwide problem including India. It occurs mainly due to unhygienic practices, unsafe water and poor environmental sanitation. It is common in children there was a need to educate this group focusing on primary prevention. one group pre test and post test design. and non probability convenient sampling technique was used and sample consisted of 30 mothers of school children Data analysis and interpretation was done using inferentional statistics It was observed that the post test mean scores was 78.36 and standard deviation was 20.723 which was significantly higher than the pretest mean value is 33.83 and standard deviation is 20.01 The t test value was 0.198 at P=0.5 level. Thus the findings of the study signify that structured teaching programme was effective in enhancing the knowledge of hepatitis. The researcher concluded that, the present study concluded that structured teaching programme on prevention of viral hepatitis was an effective method for providing moderate to adequate knowledge among school children to enhance their knowledge regarding prevention of viral hepatitis. This study highlights the need to change practices in primary care clinics to increase Human Papillomavirus vaccination rates. The study compares vaccination rates before and after the introduction of the American Academy of Pediatrics Tool Kit and a staff training session.

Methods: All children (< 21 years) admitted during a six-month period were included in the study. CSHCN were identified using the CSHCN screener and Federal Maternal and Child Health Bureau definition. Demographic data, Pediatric Index of Mortality (PIM-2), and hospital mortality were recorded.
