The Bus Improvement Project aimed to enhance public transportation services in several Indonesian cities in a socially, economically, and environmentally friendly manner through small-scale infrastructure upgrades. The project worked with officials in Palembang, Surakarta, Bogor, and Yogyakarta to develop proposals for missing transportation infrastructure, which were submitted to AusAID for funding approval. AusAID approved funding for 119 new bus shelters in Palembang and 13 new shelters in Surakarta totaling around $1 million, while proposals from Bogor remained pending resolution of issues with Angkot minibuses.
