My Goal (S)Specific Goal: To run at least 3 miles 6 out of the 7 days a week using the treadmills available to students at Plymouth for a timeframe of 2 months in hopes of losing 15-20 pounds.  (M)Measurement: Each Friday for the 8 week time period I will weigh myself to see if I am on pace towards the targeted goal. If the pace seems too slow, a mile or two might be added to see if that helps the following weeks weight.  (A)Attainable Goal: To make sure that I go work out every day that I say I am supposed to work out even if I don't really want to go, to force myself to go. (R)Reachable Goal: To get to the desired 20 pound mark is desirable but to reach for 15 and know that is good too. The 20 pound mark will be what will motivate me. (T)Timely: The start date could be for next Monday September 21st and 8 weeks or two months later would be on Monday November 16th. I would like to try to reach my goal within that timeframe. The reason to choose a goal like this was to get into better shape overall and become more healthy.

Process The steps I used to try to achieve my goal were just to motivate myself enough to go use the treadmills at the gym. Even if I didn’t want to go I would force myself to. My routine was simple, just to go use a treadmill and run for at least 3 miles per day 6 out of 7 days a week. If I felt like running past the 3 miles, I would do so. Some inhibitors would be if I were really too tired to run or if I had a late night the night before. Also studying and doing homework sometimes interfered with my plans to run.
Results I did end up doing the SMART goal, but did not follow it completely. There were certain days were I would skip the gym, but I would sometimes try to make up for it by running an extra mile or two later on in the week. My goal was to get into the 15-20 pound range for weight loss in the 2 month period. I ended up around 10-12 pounds which is alright, but if I focused more on the goal, I would have had a better chance at reaching it.
