General Goal: To lose the weight I have gained since high school.SpecificI would love to lose about 10 pounds..MeasurableI have two ways of measuring; 1. Weighing myself to chart my progress, and 2. If I am finally able to wear my old jeans again.AttainableMy parents are both also trying to lose weight, with them having the same plans, we can all support each other, and there will be less unhealthy temptations in the house to sneak a snack. RealisticWith the support of family, and having the same general goal in mind, cutting out junky foods and adding more veggies, along with daily exercise (crunches and walking on the treadmill). I work during the day, but at night instead of sitting on the couch watching TV I can walk on the tread mill, when I get up and before bed I can do crunches. Also, cutting out junk foods and incorporating low calorie snacks, I’m not a big fan of fruit. I will incorporate more veggies with dinner, which will be easy I’m usually the one cooking. Timely/Tangible
*I have lost 8 pounds*I still cannot fit into my old jeans, getting closer though*I have been eating more veggies, and have pretty much stopped eating junk food*I did not do crunches during the time like I had planned, *I have back problems and was not able to*I have gotten sick two times(viruses) during the process, doing exercises has been a challengeSo Far…I haven’t reached my goal yet, but I will lose the 2 pounds and I plan to keep motivated and lose a little more.Determination got me going, and now I want to keep going. Lose a few more pounds, and stay fit. When I was sick the first time I didn’t think there was anyway I could come close to completing my goal. I was wrong, I just had to make sure I stayed focused when I got healthy again, I managed to lose most of the weight by just eating better. I did use the treadmill, but not as much as I had wanted to, or probably should have.
ResourcesChallenges~Getting sick~Junk food in the house~Lack of motivation to exercise~Working full time and keeping up in school~Family: both of my parents also wanted to lose weight. So, we were able to encourage each other and do it together. My dad lost the most weight, but I’m happy that he supported me.~Motivation: I want my body to look better, and I want feel better about myself.~Food Shopping: I am the shopper in my house, so I was able to buy more healthy foods, and decrease the number of fatty snacks available.Tracking Progress-At the beginning of my goal, I weighed myself on my home scale, and weekly from there I weighed myself. (I do not feel comfortable putting the weights online)-I tried to keep track of what I eat, some days things were very busy and I would forget.-I wrote down when and for how long I used the treadmill.
It seemed hard at some points to keep going but I look back now, and know I could have gotten better results if I had tried harder. I could have used the treadmill more, or taken advantage of the warm days we have had and walked. I also could have eaten even better. I am happy with the results so far, but am still going to keep working.Treadmill Days and Time9-21: 15 minutes9-23: 25 minutes9-26: 20 minutes9-28~20-6: virus10-9: 10 minutes10-12: 10 minutes10-16: 15 minutes10-21: 15 minutes11-2: 10 minutes11-6: 15 minutes11-11: 15 minutes11-12~current: virusDietI cut out completely:Ice creamCookiesI cut of for the most part:CandyHot CocoaFood cooked in the fryerI added:More vegetablesMore white meat
