Leonardo Da Vinci conceived of many aerial inventions centuries before their practical realization, including designs for an early helicopter, airplane, and parachute. While the materials and technology of his time prevented full construction, his concepts helped lay foundations for modern aviation. He created detailed designs for a flying machine powered by pedals, an anemometer to measure wind, and a large multi-person helicopter driven by hand cranks. Though some like the helicopter were likely not functional, Da Vinci's innovative ideas paved the way for aerial transportation we enjoy today.
