Book of Baruch, ancient text purportedly written by Baruch, secretary and friend of Jeremiah, the Old Testament prophet. The text is still extant in Greek and in several translations from Greek into Latin, Syriac, Coptic, Ethiopic, and other languages. The Book of Baruch is apocryphal to the Hebrew and Protestant canons but was incorporated in the Septuagint and was included in the Old Testament for Roman Catholics. The work is a compilation of several authors and is the only work among the apocrypha that was consciously modeled after the prophetic writings of the Old Testament.
The Book of Tobit, also known as the Book of Tobias or the Book of Tobi, is a 3rd or early 2nd century BC Jewish work describing how God tests the faithful, responds to prayers, and protects the covenant community. Oil painting by a Dutch painter in the 17th century.
The Book of Obadiah is a book of the Bible whose authorship is attributed to Obadiah, a prophet who lived in the Assyrian Period. Obadiah is one of the Twelve Minor Prophets in the final section of Nevi'im, the second main division of the Hebrew Bible.
The seventh son of Jacob and Bilhah. The jealous one. He counsels against anger saying that "it giveth peculiar vision." This is a notable thesis on anger.

2. KAPITOLA 1
Zabulon, šestý syn Jákoba a Ley.
Vynálezce a filantrop.
9 Simeon a Gád totiž přišli proti Josefovi,
aby ho zabili, a on jim s pláčem řekl:
hoďme ho do jedné z těchto suchých jam,
které naši otcové vykopali a nenašli vodu.
15 Hospodin proto zakázal, aby v nich
stoupala voda, aby byl Josef zachován.
16 A činili tak, dokud jej neprodali
Izmaelicům.
17 Neboť na jeho ceně jsem neměl podíl,
mé děti.
18 Ale Simeon, Gád a šest dalších našich
bratří vzali cenu Josefa a koupili sobě,
svým ženám a dětem sandály a řekli:
sny.
20 Proto je v písmu Mojžíšova zákona
psáno, že kdokoli nevzbudí semeno svému
bratru, tomu bude rozepnutý sandál a
naplivni mu do tváře.
21 A bratři Josefovi si nepřáli, aby jejich
bratr žil, a Pán jim uvolnil sandál, který
měli na svém bratru Josefovi.
22 Když totiž přišli do Egypta, byli
bratři k jídlu a pití.
nezabili ho.
27 Když však viděli, že nejím, postavili
mě, abych ho hlídal, dokud nebyl prodán
Izmaelicům.
28 Když Ruben přišel a uslyšel, že když
byl pryč, byl Josef prodán, roztrhl svá
roucha a truchlil:
29 Jak budu hledět na tvář svého otce
Jákoba? A vzal peníze a rozběhl se za
obchodníky, ale když je nenašel, vrátil se
zarmoucený.
30 Ale kupci opustili širokou cestu a prošli
Troglodyty zkratkou.
31 Ale Ruben byl zarmoucen a toho dne
nejedl.
32 Dan k němu tedy přišel a řekl: Neplač,
ani se nermucuj; neboť jsme našli, co
můžeme říci svému otci Jákobovi.
33 Zabijme kozla a ponořme do něj sukni
Josefovu; a pošleme to Jákobovi se slovy:
Víš, je to plášť tvého syna?
34 A oni tak učinili. Když ho prodávali,
svlékli z Josefa kabát a oblékli ho do
otrockého roucha.
35 Simeon si vzal plášť a nechtěl ho vzdát,
nezabil.
36 Potom jsme všichni vstali a řekli jsme
mu: Nevzdáš-li se pláště, řekneme svému
otci, že ty sám jsi spáchal tu špatnost v
Izraeli.
Dan.
KAPITOLA 2
Vyzývá k lidské soucitu a porozumění
bližním.
1 A nyní, děti, já vás, abyste zachovávali
přikázání Páně a prokazovali milosrdenství
svým bližním a měli soucit se všemi, nejen
s lidmi, ale i se zvířaty.
2 Kvůli tomu všemu mi Hospodin
požehnal, a když byli všichni moji bratři
nemocní, vyvázl jsem bez nemoci, neboť
Pán zná záměr každého z nich.
3 Mějte tedy slitování ve svých srdcích,
děti moje, neboť jako člověk činí bližnímu
svému, tak i Pán naloží jemu.
4 Synové mých bratří totiž onemocněli a
nepřišli do Egypta.
11 Pročež i mne Hospodin nasytil hojností
dává, prokazujte bez váhání soucit a
milosrdenství všem lidem a dávejte
každému s dobrým srdcem.
17 A nemáte-li co dáti tomu, kdo to
potřebuje, smilujte se nad ním v útrobách
milosrdenství.
18 Vím, že moje ruka nenašla prostředky,
které bych mu dala, co potřeboval, a chodil
jsem s ním a plakal jsem sedm honů a
moje útroby po něm soucitně toužily.
19 Smilujte se tedy i vy, mé děti, s každým
milosrdným člověkem, aby se i Pán
slitoval a smiloval nad vámi.
20 Neboť i v posledních dnech sešle Bůh
své slitování na zemi, a kdekoli nalezne
vnitřnosti milosrdenství, přebývá v něm.
21 Nebo do jaké míry se slitovává člověk
se svými bližními, do té míry s ním i Pán.
22 A když jsme sestoupili do Egypta, Josef
proti nám nenesl žádnou zlobu.
23 Na koho dbejte, toho i vy, děti moje,
schvalujte se bez zloby a milujte se
navzájem; a neskládejte každý z vás za
zlého proti bratru svému.
24 Neboť to ruší jednotu a rozděluje
všecko pokolení, trápí duši a unavuje tvář.
25 Pozorujte tedy vody a vězte, že když
spolu splývají, ženou se po kamenech,
stromech, zemi a jiných věcech.
dvě ramena, dvě ruce, dvě nohy a všechny
ostatní údy.
28 Nebo jsem se naučil v písmech svých
otců, že budete rozděleni v Izraeli a budete
následovat dva krále a budete páchat
každou ohavnost.
29 A vaši nepřátelé vás povedou do zajetí
a mezi pohany budete zlí úkladně s mnoha
slabostmi a souženími.
30 A po těchto věcech si vzpomenete na
Pána a čiňte pokání, a on se nad vámi
smiluje, neboť je milosrdný a soucitný.
31 A nepočítá zlého proti synům lidským,
poněvadž jsou tělo a jsou oklamáni svými
zlými skutky.
32 A po těchto věcech vám povstane sám
Pán, světlo spravedlnosti, a vrátíte se do
své země.
33 A uvidíte ho v Jeruzalémě pro jeho
jméno.
34 A opět ho budete popudit k hněvu pro
špatnost svých skutků,
35 A budete jím zavrženi až do doby
kdo ostříhají Hospodinova zákona a
přikázání jejich otce Zabulona.
38 Ale na bezbožné uvede Hospodin oheň
věčný a zničí je po všechna pokolení.
39 Ale já nyní spěchám k odpočinku, jako
i moji otcové.
41 A když to řekl, usnul v dobrém stáří.
42 A jeho synové ho uložili do dřevěné
rakve. A potom ho vynesli a pohřbili v
Hebronu s jeho otci.
