PROFILE OF PROFESSIONAL ASSIGNMENTS:-
1. Presently working at Qassim Combined Cycle Power Project as lead I &
C design review Engineer in SEC Project execution team. This project
consists of conversion of 12 Open Cycle GE Gas Turbines installed at
Qassim power plant to a combined cycle plant consisting of 12 HRSGs,
three Air Cooled Condensers and three steam turbines. Main
responsibility is reviewing the contractors’ design transmittals ensuring
that the contract specifications and applicable standards are followed in
letter and spirit.
2. Working as consultant I & C engineer on SEC project for the
construction of four crude oil storage tanks and installation of 12
loading arms. The responsibilities are the construction supervision and
design review. All the installation, testing and commissioning activities
for TIMS, control system PLC, fire alarm system and loading system
were supervised.
3. Worked as consultant I & C engineer at Open Cycle Gas Turbines
Power plant (08 No. GE 7EA gas turbines) at Qassim Power Plant.
Supervision of project execution, design review and contract
implementation being the main responsibilities. Being the only I & C
engineer during the whole project, supervised the installation, testing and
commissioning of all the PLC based systems, DCS, CEMS, COTP, Air
compressors, BSDG, plant security system, fire alarm system, weather
station, public address and clock systems. All the contract violations,
warranty issues were also raised and discussed with the contractor as a
SEC representative and resolved as per contract provisions.
4. Worked as Consultant Instrumentation & Control Engineer at RPP-
10 (36 GE 7EA open cycle gas turbines Power plant Riyadh K.S.A.)
which includes the erection / installation and commissioning of forty GE
7EA Open Cycle Gas Turbines with Mark VIe Speedtronics control
system. The project also includes the installation and commissioning of
balance of plant auxiliary equipment with centralized DCS control.
 Supervision of Erection, Testing & Commissioning of the entire
PLC based systems for Fuel Oil unloading, storage, crude oil
Treatment Plant and fuel forwarding.
 Supervision of Erection, Testing & Commissioning of the entire
PLC based BOP systems for Fuel additives, compressed air,
Water treatment plant (Sewage water treatment, Demine water,
raw water and drinking water).
 Supervision of Erection, Testing & Commissioning of Distributed
Control System (DCS) Invensys I /A Series USA for control and
monitoring of the whole plant from one central location. All the
PLC systems are interfaced with DCS system.
 Supervision of erection, Testing & Commissioning of Fire Alarm
& Protection Systems for the whole plant. The Fire protection
systems installed at site are FM200, Deluge water spray, Foam
deluge spray system and wet sprinkler spray system. All the
systems are monitored at a central fire control room.
 Installation, testing and commissioning of CEMS (Controlled
emissions monitoring system) for all the gas turbines. Extractive
type CEMS system is installed at site.
 Calibration of all the field instruments, smart field transmitters
including Level, Pressure, Temperature & Flow Transmitters,
Gauges, Switches.
5. Supervised the Faras PowerPlant Expansion project, as Consultant I &
C Engineer. This project included the installation and commissioning of
four GE 7FA Open Cycle Gas Turbines with Mark VIe Speedtronics control
system and GE DCS system. The project included the installation /
commissioning of balance of plant auxiliary equipment with centralized
DCS control.
 Supervision of installation / erection and Testing / Commissioning
of Telephone, Intercom & Public address Systems.
 Supervision of installation / erection and Testing / Commissioning
of security and access control system.
6. As Instrumentation and control maintenance engineer Combined Cycle
Power Plant GTPS Wapda Faisalabad, following major works were
performed,
 Supervised number of major overhaulings of the gas turbine
units. The work included removal of all the monitoring, control
and measuring instruments, complete overhauling, testing,
calibration of all the removed instruments and their re-
installation.
 Up gradation project of three gas turbine units attached with CCP
was performed. This up gradation included replacing the
conventional wheel space and exhaust temperature monitoring
parts with Advanced Technology Parts, modification in the flame
detection system and the calibration of control system at new
values.
 Gas turbine units at G.T.P.S. Faisalabad are equipped with G.E.
Speedtronic Mark-I Control system. This control system was
declared obsolete by the manufacturer. Up gradation of this
control with latest Gas Turbine control system was proposed. The
tender specifications were prepared and the up gradation work
was carried out after the tendering process was finalized.
 DCS TDC 3000 system (make Yamatake Honeywell) is installed
at CCP G.T.P.S.Faisalabad for block coordination control and all
the closed loop control operations. This system was declared
obsolete by the manufacturer; a project for up-gradation of the
system with the latest Honeywell DCS System (version R640)
was carried out starting from administration approval to
execution level.
 The FGC System MACS-3000 Make Mitsubishi Heavy
Industries Japan is installed at CCP unit G.T.P.S. Faisalabad to
operate all the control drives. This system has also been declared
obsolete by manufacturer. Tendering process was initiated for the
replacement of this system.
7. As I & C Maintenance engineer, performed the major overhauling of CCP
unit and following jobs were performed,
 All the control supervisory, monitoring and measuring
instruments removed from the steam turbine and overhauling of
the removed instruments was performed.
 New generator winding temperature monitoring RTDs were
reinstalled.
 All the smart field instrumentations were calibrated and
reprogrammed.
 All the control valve (pneumatic and motorized) were
overhauled.
 The turbine supervisory system instrumentation were removed,
overhauled, reinstalled and calibrated.
