A dynamic and forward thinking transport planner capable of working in a variety of environments

EMPLOYMENT
Boxley Haulage (September 2015 - October 2015); Transport Planner / Supervisor
• Involved in the gaining of general haulage loads from customers, planning them over a daily and
weekly period, utilising resources to the best of their capabilities maximising revenue on a daily
basis. Working with both day and night drivers to cover throughout the UK.
• Incorporated maintenance of vehicles around the plan to ensure legal requirements were met.
• Oversaw the daily plan to put in place any contingencies and informing customers of any changes,
utilising my experience to minimise disruption.
• On call tri weekly and making decisions outside of office hours.
Solstor Group Ltd (September 2013 – August 2015); Transport Planner
• Organise over seventy loads per day including collections and deliveries for a variety of customers
including Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Lidl using various I.T. systems to process vehicle movements
through varying customer demand patterns.
• Liaise with sub-contractors and other Solstor depots to utilise the whole business fleet and to meet
the varying demand throughout the week and seasonal periods
• Working with sub-contractors to carry loads where there is no re-load available.
• Planning for reloads over 24 hours in advance to reduce empty mileage to a minimum, and ensure
highly perishable goods arrive at depots on time.
• Understanding of driver hours and the maintenance schedule of vehicles to enable we maximise
our resources and vehicle fleet.
• When executing the plan I work with a flexible traffic sheet ensuring accurate information is
available to the team and manage the drivers so that any changes are effectively carried out.
• On call to make decisions outside of the office using the traffic sheet and own judgement.
Unipart Logistics Graduate Scheme (September 2011 – September 2013)
(November 2012 – September 2013); PMC Analyst
• Part of the Production Material Control team building strong relationships with both national and
international suppliers and customers to put in place systems to enable the efficient running of
production lines. Worked with the IFS Material Requirements Planning system. Dealt with
international transport of goods through groupage and expedited transport.
• As part of a team working on a new product introduction worth £1.9m in annual turnover I
presented the logistics concept to the Unipart Manufacturing board. Was also first point of contact
for the customer and all suppliers. Created KPI’s to monitor supplier performance.
• Managed projects utilising lean principles when supplying production lines and creating FIFO stock
movements. Included training of team leaders in the lean technique, Kanban. Led a team that
improved stock control from the mid-40%s to the mid-90%s.

• Leadership development as a team leader involved in disciplinary matters, employee development
and efficiency projects.
• Used the BMW sequencing system to ensure parts arrived in the correct order. Through Excel and
co-ordination skills with the freight forwarder, the courier vehicles arrived on time for collections.

• Undertook Lean Practitioner training and worked on the Land Rover Discovery Exhaust line.
• Through use of lean techniques our team increased capacity of a manufacturing process by 47%.

• Developed leadership skills and problem solving techniques to lead a multi-skilled team using
strong employee engagement and KPI data to regularly meet the customer’s varying schedule.
• Pro-actively put in place Total Preventative Maintenance checks in various manufacturing cells.

• 2:1 Honours in a Master of Arts in Management with Business Law.
• During the course, modules included; accountancy, economics, HR management, business law,
procurement, operations management, business policy and corporate strategy. I also studied
logistics of supply chain management, undertaking an analysis of how firms operating in the FMCG
market could reduce logistical problems during adverse weather. In law I examined international
trade law and the documents needed for goods to be transported internationally.
• My dissertation investigated compensation law for injuries sustained in international sport with
countries that do not hold the employment contracts of the players involved. I utilised legal
statutes, analytical journals and interviewed a sports law expert through my research meeting
numerous deadlines and conducting the research myself.
