Alan Robbie has over 40 years of experience in commercial diving and underwater engineering. He is currently the Engineering Technical Manager at JFD, where he is responsible for managing commercial diving projects including saturation diving systems and life support equipment design. Previously he held roles as a Project Manager for several diving equipment companies where he oversaw technical operations, equipment design, and training. He has extensive experience managing diving system installations, refurbishments, and certifications on vessels and offshore projects around the world.

Engineering Technical Manager
Responsible for the technical aspects and management of all
commercial diving projects undertaken by the Company. To date
this has included 8 portable saturation diving systems, 1 inbuilt
system, 4 HRF’s and various air spreads and system refurbishments.
Also appointed life support design authority for all work undertaken
by the company in Australia and South East Asia.
Divex was purchased by James Fisher and Sons in 2013 and was
merged in 2014 with its subsidiary company, James Fisher Defence,
to form JFD and within Australia have become involved in work
with the Royal Australian Navy in providing Submarine Escape and
Training as well as the commercial diving industry.

System Consultant to North East Shipbuilders. Responsible for
installation and commissioning of equipment supplied by French
and German companies for two specialised diving / well stimulation
vessels. Duties included liaison between shipyard, classification
authority, owners and suppliers.

installation of equipment manufactured by the company.
This comprised mainly of diving systems but also covered material
handling equipment, conveyor belts, grain buckets etc.
The majority of this time was spent in the USSR managing the
installation and commissioning of pressure vessels, compressors,
refrigeration plant, control panels, pipework and electric’s
associated with saturation diving equipment on board three semi -
submersible drilling rigs under construction in Soviet shipyards.
Involved in negotiating contracts both technically and commercially
direct with the Soviet Authorities.
