This document discusses improving the speed of side information generation in distributed video coding (DVC) using parallel processing based on CUDA and GPGPU techniques. The authors demonstrate significant speed improvements—up to 14.15 times for forward motion estimation and an overall average speedup of 9.46 times for the entire side information generation process—while maintaining the quality of the output. The work highlights the potential of using lower-grade hardware to achieve efficient real-time applications in video coding.
