This document summarizes a survey conducted on internet usage trends and preferences among students at University Brunei Darussalam (UBD). Over a two week period, 503 questionnaires were distributed to students in UBD Library to understand their computer lab usage patterns, preferred wireless network, and opinions on internet accessibility on campus. The findings showed that most students spent an hour in the computer lab for research and first-year students reported three months of usage. While more than half preferred the on-campus Wifi network, many felt it was unreliable and not widely available. The conclusion calls for UBD to improve wireless connectivity by adding more routers and regularly checking access across campus areas.

2. Introduction
A survey focused on the trend and preference of internet
accessibility in UBD campus area. Basically, we want to find
out the average duration and the reason for the usage of
computer room in UBD Library. Furthermore, an investigation
was conducted on which Wifi connection that UBD students
prefer to use to access the internet as well as their opinions
on internet accessibility.
Venue: UBD Library
Time Frame: 2 weeks from 16th October 2012 to 25th October
2012
Time: 2 pm to 4 pm

3. Methodology
In every meeting, we did a minutes to record our progress.
Conducted a pilot study to identify flaws in the
questionnaire.
After the pilot study, all members agreed adding likert
scale into the questionnaire.
A total of 503 questionnaires were distributed.
All responses were entered into IBM SPSS. Table and bar
graph to represent distribution of data.

Majority respondents are from Faculty of Arts and Social
Science (FASS) because population of FASS students
being the largest in UBD.
Small respondents are from Institute of Health Science
(IHS) because the faculty itself have their own computer
room.
Most respondents chose 1 hour to do their research at
computer room.
Highest response chose 3 months usage and are mainly
the First year students.

15. Conclusion
More than half of our respondents prefer to use
Wifi@UBD.
BUT, they do not agree with the statement regarding the
availability and accessibility of the Wifi connection.
Eventhough, computer rooms are available in the library,
the Wifi connection would still preferable as students can
access it within the campus area.
UBD would need to provide more routers and checking
the accessibility of the connection from time to time.
