AN OVERVIEW ON THE CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY INITIATIVES BY AMULVARUN KESAVAN
Amul is an Indian dairy cooperative, based at Anand in the state of Gujarat.[2]
Formed in 1948, it is a brand managed by a cooperative body, the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd. (GCMMF), which today is jointly owned by 3.6 million milk producers in Gujarat.[3]
Amul spurred India's White Revolution, which made the country the world's largest producer of milk and milk products.[4]
The white revolution was spearheaded by Tribhuvandas Patel under the guidance of Sardar Patel and Verghese Kurien. As a result, Kaira District Milk Union Limited was born in 1946. Tribhuvandas became the founding chairman of the organization and led it until his death. He hired Dr. Kurien three years after the white revolution. He convinced Dr. Kurien to stay and help with the mission.[citation needed]
Kurien, founder-chairman of the GCMMF for more than 30 years (1973–2006), is credited with the success of Amul.[5] Amul has become the largest food brand in India and has ventured into markets overseas. Amul products are now available in more than 60 countries.

The Taste of India, a brand so distinctively Indian has been a part of our lives for nearly five decades now and still is able to touch a chord in our hearts. As a brand AMUL has grown from being merely a differentiating factor to protect the interests of producers and consumers. AMUL inspired ‘Operation Flood’ and heralded the ‘White Revolution’ in India. It began with two village cooperatives and 250 liters of milk per day, nothing but ooze compared to the flood it has become today. AMUL distributes over a million liters of milk per day, it also collects and processes various milk products, during the peak, on behalf of more than a thousand village individually owned by half a million farmer members. AMUL too has become a symbol of the aspirations of millions of farmers.

Community-based seed systems: Improving access to quality seeds
Lack of access to good-quality rice seeds, inadequate storage facilities to keep seeds healthy and viable for the next cropping season, not having enough money to buy seeds, and experiencing long hungry months—these are some of the reasons Arakan Valley farmers adopted the community-based seed system (CBSS).
The Uttar Pradesh region, the major rice and wheat producing area of Northern India, stands as number two among the 10 highest rice and wheat producing Indian states. More than 70% of Uttar Pradesh’s 200 million population is dependent on agriculture for their livelihoods. The region is facing the multiple challenge of growing sufficient food for its increasing population, while at the same time facing increasingly unreliable and unfavorable environmental conditions for food production. In such a situation, the introduction of new crops tolerant to new climatic conditions, coupled with broader climate change adaptation efforts, offers a viable option at the moment, and has thus become the focus of this project.
Digital Commerce Lecture for Advanced Digital & Social Media Strategy at UCLA...Valters Lauzums
E-commerce in 2024 is characterized by a dynamic blend of opportunities and significant challenges. Supply chain disruptions and inventory shortages are critical issues, leading to increased shipping delays and rising costs, which impact timely delivery and squeeze profit margins. Efficient logistics management is essential, yet it is often hampered by these external factors. Payment processing, while needing to ensure security and user convenience, grapples with preventing fraud and integrating diverse payment methods, adding another layer of complexity. Furthermore, fulfillment operations require a streamlined approach to handle volume spikes and maintain accuracy in order picking, packing, and shipping, all while meeting customers' heightened expectations for faster delivery times.
Amid these operational challenges, customer data has emerged as an important strategy. By focusing on personalization and enhancing customer experience from historical behavior, businesses can deliver improved website and brand experienced, better product recommendations, optimal promotions, and content to meet individual preferences. Better data analytics can also help in effectively creating marketing campaigns, improving customer retention, and driving product development and inventory management.
Innovative formats such as social commerce and live shopping are beginning to impact the digital commerce landscape, offering new ways to engage with customers and drive sales, and may provide opportunity for brands that have been priced out or seen a downturn with post-pandemic shopping behavior. Social commerce integrates shopping experiences directly into social media platforms, tapping into the massive user bases of these networks to increase reach and engagement. Live shopping, on the other hand, combines entertainment and real-time interaction, providing a dynamic platform for showcasing products and encouraging immediate purchases. These innovations not only enhance customer engagement but also provide valuable data for businesses to refine their strategies and deliver superior shopping experiences.
The e-commerce sector is evolving rapidly, and businesses that effectively manage operational challenges and implement innovative strategies are best positioned for long-term success.
