There are three major professional associations that support school libraries and librarians in Croatia: the Croatian Association of School Librarians, the Croatian Library Association's School Libraries Section, and the Croatian Network of School Librarians. These associations organize conferences, projects like reading initiatives, and awards that recognize excellence. They also helped school libraries recover after a flood in 2014 and have gained international recognition, with Croatia hosting the International Congress of School Librarians in 2019.

Ulricehamn Municipality has 22,700 inhabitants and offers educational services including 23 pre-schools, 15 middle schools, and 1 upper secondary school. The main library, School Library Center, supports 9 school libraries in the rural area through an integrated public library system. The School Library Center arranges purchases, maintains a library catalogue, provides agreements and extra media support to the small schools with 50-200 pupils aged 6-12.

The next LIASA conference will be hosted by the Institute of Education, University of London from July 9-12, 2012. The speaker challenges academic librarians to get more involved as "embedded librarians" and share their roles and experiences at conferences to increase awareness of how librarians support learning.

The Ukrainian Library Association has made continuing education for librarians a top priority for over 17 years. In 2000, they established the Center for Continuing Library Education in partnership with other organizations to provide trainings, workshops, and conferences. Since 2009, the Bibliomist Program launched the National Training Center and 24 Regional Centers across Ukraine to create an educational network for librarians. Over 1430 librarians have been trained through interactive courses on topics such as technology, management, and ethics. Trainees have reported starting new library initiatives and services after their education. The ULA aims to design more courses and train an even broader audience of librarians going forward.

The mobile library project was created by MEX Advertising for MTS Ukraine to present the mobile operator as an innovative and socially responsible company aimed at improving education and culture. The project involved creating a free mobile e-library with over 500 e-books accessible via QR codes on bookshelves placed in central squares in Kiev, Lviv, Odessa, Vinnitsa, and Zitomir. During the first month, the mobile library had over 500,000 visitors who downloaded 50,000 books, and received 212 free media placements.

Noreen Masud is a DPhil candidate in English Literature at the University of Oxford. She holds degrees from the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge.
