Hepatitis C Virus (HCV)
Hepatitis C is an infectious disease and inflammation of the liver which caused by the hepatitis
C Virus(HCV). This disease was belongs the the microbial group of virus. This infection is
asymptomatic, but it is a chronic infection that may lead to scarring of the liver and ultimately to
cirrhosis. The liver is a vital organ that processes nutrients, filters the blood, and fights infections.
When the liver is inflamed or damaged, its function can be affected. Acute Hepatitis C refers to the
first several months after someone is infected. Acute infection can range in severity from a very mild
illness with few or no symptoms to a serious condition which require hospitalization.
There are about 20% of people are able to clear or get rid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only way to know if you have Hepatitis C is to get tested. A blood test called Hepatitis
C Antibody Test. This test helps to look for antibodies to the Hepatitis C virus. Antibodies are
chemicals released into the bloodstream when someone gets infected. Antibodies remain in the
bloodstream even the person already cleared from the virus. A positive or reactive Hepatitis C
Antibody
Test means that a person has been infected with the Hepatitis C virus at some point in time. However,
a positive antibody test does not necessarily mean a person still has Hepatitis C. In addition, RNA test
is needed to determine if a person is currently infected with Hepatitis C. Even if there is currently no
vaccine to prevent Hepatitis C, there are still ways to reduce the risk of becoming infected with the
Hepatitis C virus. First, avoid sharing or reusing needles, syringes or any other equipment to prepare
and inject drugs, steroids, hormones, or other substances. Second, do not use personal items that may
have come into contact with an infected person s blood, even in amounts too small to see, such as
razors, nail clippers, toothbrushes, or glucose monitors. Third, do not get tattoos or body piercings

Natural Disasters And Manmade Disasters Essay
Abstract Some or maybe all of us have been a part of some event that has taken place throughout their
existence. The events that you or other people may have taken part in have been for enjoyment or for
pleasure as for others or there are people who have gone through a series of events that has completely
ruined their lives in a matter of days. Just to throw this out there, some events that could ruin people
lives are natural disasters or manmade disasters, losing someone that you cared about most in this
world. These events leave us looking hopeless, needing a sense of direction and a big contribution
from the man upstairs. I m here to talk to you about a natural disaster that happen just a little over 10
years ago and the event that had taken place was Hurricane Katrina. What comes to mind when we
think of the word natural disaster? Well my take on it is that it s a major adverse event resulting from
the natural processes of the Earth. Natural disasters can claim properties, damage the economy, and
can even result in death. You know as well as I know what happened in Hurricane Katrina. I went
through it back in 2005. I m here to research and provide a summary of the event, to examine the
precautions (preparations) that were taken beforehand when the storm was still in the tropics, to take a
look at how the local, state, and federal governments responded to the event and talk about the
recovery process and where the state of Louisiana is today. Keywords: Natural

Idi Amin Research Paper
The human race is known for the anger and violence that each individual is capable of releasing. A
primal and sometimes carnal instinct embedded deep in almost everyone. But through the centuries,
there have been certain people who have taken their violent urges and released them on a grander
scale scarily imaginable. One such individual came to be known as the butcher of Uganda, Idi Amin.
Raised in the Muslim faith and hailing from the northwestern areas of Uganda known as Koboko,
from a small ethnic tribe known as the Kakwa. The future dictator s exact date of birth is unknown,
but it is estimated that Idi Amin was born around the year 1925. His father, a member of the Kakwa
Tribe, is said to have abandoned their family leaving Amin being ... Show more content on

of the country s economy which would reach inflation rates of as high as 1000%. Amin also decided to

Prosthetic Hip Dislocation And Its Effects
Prosthetic Hip Dislocation
A prosthetic hip dislocation means that your artificial hip joint (prosthesis) has moved out of place.
This can happen because of a hard, direct hit or injury (trauma) to the hip, such as a fall. A prosthetic
hip joint may be more likely to dislocate than a normal hip joint because a prosthetic hip joint does not
have all the structures that normally hold the joint in place.
After the prosthetic hip is moved back into place, you will generally recover fully. Prosthetic hip
dislocation is a medical emergency that requires immediate treatment.
CAUSES
This condition is often caused by trauma to the hip. Trauma may be caused by:
Falls, especially falls from a height.
Motor vehicle accidents.
Contact sports.
Industrial accidents.
RISK FACTORS
This condition is more likely to develop in:
People over 60 years of age.
People with bone loss (osteoporosis).
People who lack vitamin D.
People who are overweight or obese.
People who lack hip strength and flexibility.
People with poor vision.
SYMPTOMS
Symptoms of this condition include:
Severe pain in the hip area. Pain may get worse when you move or try to put weight on the hip.
Inability to move the hip.
The leg on the side of the dislocated hip appearing shorter than the other leg.
The foot on the side of the dislocated hip turning inward.
Loss of feeling in your lower leg, foot, or ankle.

Figurative Language In Beloved
Within Beloved, Toni Morrison uses the same opening phrase at the beginning of each section of the
novel for a variety of purposes. The phrase 124 was... is repeated at the beginning of each section in
order to illustrate the returning presence of the past as well as show the growing influence of Beloved
on Sethe and her family. The past and its lasting effects are heavily emphasized in Beloved as the past
holds painful memories for the characters of the novel. As the story progresses, memories of the past
become more vivid and begin to take a larger hold on Sethe and Paul D. Both Sethe and Paul D were
subjected to horrific experiences which they bury deep within their minds. Beloved s presence,
however, forces Sethe and Paul D to confront ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The third section of the novel opens with the line 124 was quiet (Morrison 281). The house is quiet
due to the fact that everyone Sethe has once known has been driven off by either Beloved or the baby
spirit. Beloved is free to feed of off Sethe and drives Sethe and Denver apart. After Sethe sees the scar
of where she cut Beloved s throat, she begins to spend time only with her which leaves Denver to be
alone by herself. Sethe is engulfed by Beloved and Beloved grows larger by feeding off of Sethe
which causes Sethe s physical state to deteriorate. Their relationship eventually reaches the point
where ... Beloved was more important, meant more to her than her own life. That she would trade
places any day. Give up her life, every minute and hour of it, to take back just one of Beloved s tears
(Morrison 284). Beloved has become the only important thing in Sethe s life and Sethe is willing to do
anything for Beloved. Sethe even ignores Denver completely just to spend more time with Beloved.
Beloved has taken complete control over Sethe and is unwilling to let her go. Beloved is
representative of the past which is preventing Sethe from moving on with her life. The past has taken
total control over Sethe s life, but Sethe has accepted it and is not willing to fight against

Web Search For Web Searching Engine Essay
Abstract Web searching engine are mostly used for finding certain information among a huge amount
of data in a minimum amount of period. Profile based personalized web search (PWS) has determine
their effectiveness in improving the quality of various internet search technique. We study security of
privacy protection for PWS applications that as hierarchical user profiles. In this paper we can
implement the PWS system called UPS that can flexibly create profiles by queries while regarding
user definite privacy requirements. Our runtime generalization goals at striking a level between two
predictive metrics that evaluate the effectiveness of personalization and the privacy risk of exposing
the generalized profile. We implemented this system with greedy algorithms, for runtime profile
generalization also provides a runtime prediction mechanism for determining whether personalizing a
query is useful. Extensive experiments prove the effectiveness of our system. The experimental results
also reveal that Greedy algorithms significantly outperform in terms of effectiveness. Index Terms

Abstract In this second part of article review, it will be mainly focused on the controllable part (Risk
Management Framework, RMF). The controllable part contains six different phases that work among
the system development life cycle (SDLC). The controllable phases provide the system developers a
way to enable security controls, measure the risk level of data, and the system. Combine both parts, it
becomes a security framework to allow the system developers to go through the step by step process

Basically, Jesus was saying everyone who hears his words and put them into practice is like a man
who builds a house on a strong foundation. As for foolish build that does not build on the strong
foundation, when disaster come, the house was destructed. The principle is the same as developing a
strong and secure product/system by following the system development life cycle and risk
management framework. Using the security model will enhance the stability of the product and
decrease the risk of exposing any vulnerabilities.
Questions
1. Which phase of the security engineering holds the most critical part?
2. Does the US government follow the same security engineering framework as the article says?
3. How often should a company update their common controls or policies?

Rodney Castleden s The Stonehenge
Stonehenge is one of the most famous sites in the world from the Neolithic period. It began as early as
3000 BC, and went under different stages of arrangement. Known for its circle of giant stones
standing in Salisbury Plain, this monument has baffled archeologists for centuries. Stonehenge, which
derives from the Saxon term for hanging stones, has been examined several times over the centuries,
but the primary reason for its creation remains unknown. The only information we do know is that it
was a religious site, and that worship here involved the cycles of the sun; the alignment of the stones
on the axis of the mid summer sunrise makes this clear. The books I choose to review this topic each
approach the ideology behind this monument; each in a different way. In the first half of The
Stonehenge People, Rodney Castleden investigates, in detail, many of the popular sites that could
contribute to figuring out the reconstruction of Neolithic society. Moreover, he begins with the impact
man had on the land, from the development of trade routes to the beginning of settlements and
agriculture. In the second half of the book, he attempts to look deeper ... Show more content on

Stonehenge people were oriented towards ritual and symbolic

Capsaicin Lab Report
The Wonderful World of Capsaicin
Abstract
Capsaicin contains amounts of antimicrobial properties varying from pepper to pepper. In this
experiment, the bacteria, Serratia, was used to test the strength of different solutions containing
capsaicin using jalapeno seeds mixed with water, ethanol, or both, and compared with a control
without the seeds. The zones of inhibition were then measured after one week to compare the reaction
between each solution to the bacteria.

Figure 1.1 reveals that there was no supportable correlation between the combined use of ethanol and
capsaicin against the gram negative bacteria, Serratia. The results varied in an unpredictable manner.
According to the Figure 1.1, the 5 mL solution of pure ethanol, on average, resulted in higher zones of
inhibition than the other treatments, which was expected due to ethanol s antimicrobial properties.
But, the ethanol and seed solution, which warranted the best possible results, produced straight zeros
across the board. In the 5 mL solution of ethanol and water, we saw effects from both seeds and
seedless solutions. Surprisingly, the solution with seeds ended up being 75% as effective as the
ethanol solution without seeds and in a way, contradicting the previous no show results from the
ethanol with seeds. Both solutions, seeds and seedless, containing 5 mL of water failed to produce any

An Analysis Of Bette Greene s The Summer Of My German Soldier
An action, a statement, one instant, has the power to alter your life and for young Patricia Bergen in
the young adult fiction novel, The Summer of my German Soldier by Bette Greene, many different
conflicts she had to face caused her to think very poorly of herself. Fortunately, with the influence of
one German soldier her whole mindset was revised. In the beginning of the novel , Patty Bergen
portrays as an insecure, desperate, and a solitary young girl, but at the resolution of the story we see
Patty as a confident, mature, and hopeful young woman who dreams of life away from the hardships
she faced.
When Patty Bergen is first introduced, we get an impression of Patty s life at home and her parent s
behavior towards her. Patty s father physically abuses her for misbehaving yet he beats Patty
mercilessly for foolish reasons in particular Mr. Bergen on page 106 and 107, God damn you! He
shouted at me. You ll obey me if it kills you! . In this quote, the harsh treatment Patty had to
experienced is displayed, the reader can notice that at the point, the quote occurs, Henry Bergen
assaults his daughter for a very foolish reason, explaining the reason why Patty is very unaccompanied
and how she is very determined to be adored by her parents. Not only is Patty physically abused, but
her mother verbally abuses her with insults and comments that cause Patty to think she needs to revise
her appearance. Mrs. Bergen s actions are demonstrated when Patty enters their general

Co ordination Co ordination is the bringing together of a work force and the activities they are to
perform, in such a manner that they are achieved with maximum efficiency and harmony. It is a
product of the organising function however; it must be achieved throughout the organisations
structure. Here are some of what I would consider to be the most important co ordination activities in
construction: * Ensuring the timeliness of work carried out * Maintaining records of all drawings
information, verbal instructions, directives and documents received from both clients and consultants
* Managing the quality of work * Liaising with clients and consultants * Identifying delays and
strategic activities
Communication The goal of communication is to convey information and the understanding of that
information, from one person or group to another person or group. The efficiency and effectiveness of
the construction process depend heavily on the quality of communication. Throughout the
construction process the people involved can communicate via email, word of mouth, drawings,

Virtue Ethics and Ethics of Care Essay
Fried Pataters
Mr. Hahn
Phil 2310
10 May 2010
Virtue Ethics and Ethics of Care Aristotle and Rita Manning both have different theories when it
comes to ethics. Aristotle uses virtue ethics to answer questions about morality whereas Manning uses
what is called ethics of caring to do the same thing. Virtue ethics claims people s actions aim towards
the highest good of happiness. From happiness, moral virtue stems from reasons governing the desires
of the soul. Manning on the other hand believes that moral actions extend from people caring for one
another on a personal level. By developing the ability to care for others, people become morally aware
of how to act in certain situations. When the question of: how ought I live my life? ... Show more

Then there are the two extreme ends of the states of character which is superhuman virtue and
brutishness. Superhuman virtue is displaying virtuous character in every case including extreme
situations. On the opposite end, brutishness is absent of reason and the desires are so morbidly wrong
that the actions are morbidly wrong as a result. Aristotle feels people should strive for the superhuman
virtue state, yet because being superhumanly virtuous is incredibly difficult, being virtuous or
continent is seen as good as well. Rita Manning s approach to ethics is referred to as ethics of caring.
She claims that ethics of caring has two elements, the first being disposition to care. Disposition to
care is a willingness to receive others, a willingness to give the lucid attention required to
appropriately fill the needs of others (Manning 477). The disposition deals with a commitment to
caring for the needs of others. Manning claims that humans are obligated to care for not only the needs
of others, but also what is required for the needs of others. A great example is sending beef to India
after a natural disaster. By sending provisions, people are showing they care but they fail to realize
that Hindu people do not eat beef. Instead, people should learn more about the people they are helping
so that they can send provisions that will do the most good. Manning states that we need to be aware
of the individual needs of certain people in

How I Did Not Put Someone At Jail
How I did not put someone in jail A time in my life when I had to faced a mortal challenge and I had

from a denominational church beliefs to the church of Christ beliefs. The second transition was I was
leaving a life of being single to a life of being married. The third was having a empty nest syndrome.
With these three major components came about making a decision to allow someone I love not to
spend time in jail. Transitioning from my denominational church of the Baptis faith, to the Church of
Christ was interesting. I chose to take my beliefs of Baptist faith, which entails me as a Christian to
look at every day life encounters not so serious comparedto the Church of Christ more strictly, for we
will be jidge heavily for our sins. A good example would be. Many Baptis Christians would state once

that due to Gore s request to recounts the votes manually, there were four counties in Florida such as
Volusia, Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami Dade that recounted the votes which were also not
completed within the seven days deadline after the election. Volusia County finished but not the other
three counties and Florida s Secretary of State Republican Katherine Harris then requested them to
give proof of reasons they have not finished recounting the votes to what she also rejected and decided
to certify the ballots on November 18th, however, the Gore legal team sued Harris to prevent the
action, and the Florida Supreme Court agreed and ordered Harris to accept the results of any manual
recount that was completed by November 26th (Krakow, 2006). The Supreme Court took the case,
stopped the recount of the votes, and made the decision only with the votes that were recounted
awarding the election to Bush on December 11. On December 12th they had a certified list of electors
which was needed for the meeting of the Electoral College on December 18th so the Congress would
not have to certify the Florida electors (Krakow, 2006). In conclusion, the election of 2000 was indeed

Everyman Play Essay
1. Text one: EVERYMAN
Question: What is the most moving moment of the play? Why?
This play was so moving and touching, it represented life in general and how everyone should view it.
The part that touched me the most was when death came and said to Everyman that he will take the
pilgrimage of the soul and stand before God. Then, Everyman begs to be released and delay just one
day, but death tells Everyman he has come for everyone and God has sent him. This moment moved
me so much because, it is so true when the angel of death comes to take someone s soul, even if that
person begs to stay he will die. Also, nothing will matter at that time not your friends, family, and
material possessions will be there for you, nobody can take the final journey

Transcendentalist
Transcendentalism and Christianity Have Incompatible Beliefs
Transcendentalism is a group of new ideas in literature, religion, culture, and philosophy that emerged
in the early to middle 19th century (Wikipedia). Transcendentalism first started with Ralph Waldo
Emerson, one of the pioneers of the Transcendentalists, who in his essay Nature , criticized several
things, especially the Unitarian church (Wikipedia). Many other Transcendentalists such as Thomas
Parker, Henry David Thoreau, Amos Bronson Alcott, and James Freeman Clark, along with Emerson,
were critics of their society because they didn t like the fact that people had unthinking conformity
(Stanford 1). Transcendentalists work to make the world better through social ... Show more content

This means that God occupies the first place in their beliefs; therefore, they will never put God and
nature in the same unity as Transcendentalists do. A last incompatible belief about God between
Transcendentalists and Christians is that Transcendentalists believe that human beings can become
like God, that they can grow a resemblance to God (Stanford 2). Christians do not have the same point
of view about that because, for them, God is perfect and the creator of everything, including humans
(Certificate 2). So, logically, there is no way that humans could achieve the perfection of their creator.
The incompatible beliefs about God make the two doctrines even more incompatible because
Transcendentalists don t see God as powerful as Christians do. The last area where the beliefs of
Transcendentalists and Christians are incompatible is about the Bible. The Bible or Holy Scriptures
contains the Old and New Testaments which are the written words of God and Christians believe
strongly in it. They say that it was given by God and contains his knowledge which is the basis of
Christian s theology (Certificate 2). But Transcendentalists don t like the idea of putting theology
between people and God (Gentry). They believe that people can by themselves know more about God
or the truth in general (Lewis). This is incompatible with the Christians beliefs about the truth found in
the Bible. Another reason why Transcendentalist and Christian beliefs about the

King Stephen King Reflection
The video Stephen King on Childhood changed the way I look at things. He claims, the things that
really scare us are the things that are going on just outside the spotlight that you can t quite see (
Stephen King on Childhood ). The video starts off with Stephen King talking about a day he was
walking and came across a little girl on the side of the street drawing in the dirt talking to herself or an
imaginary person. Then, he thought to himself, If I did that, somebody would come along and say
there s a grown man sitting in the dirt, talking to himself to people who aren t there and drawing with
a stick ( Stephen King on Childhood ). If I saw a grown man doing that, I would be a little creeped
out. If a little kid was doing it, I would think that was a normal thing for kids to do. He is talking about
how when we are kids, we can think, imagine, and dream about whatever we want because there are
no limits. When we start growing up, we realize what reality is. We snap into this new mode and
change the way we think, imagine, and dream. When I was a kid, I would think the most bizarre
things, like when I would connect anything to a face, like cars, buildings, clouds, houses, etc. I would
try to explain it to my parents they would think I was crazy and had no idea what I was talking about.
Next, the interviewer, Thomas Smith, asks Stephen, Did you have a highly developed sense of evil
yourself as a child or were you obsessed by the nature of evil? (Stephen King on Childhood). King
then goes on to ask why people ask about his childhood. He does not remember having an unusual
childhood. Then, because of him not remembering, something bad must have happened when he was a
kid. King then goes on to talk about, I think a lot of people make the assumption that we block
memories that are terrible. When I think what really happens is this: that we think in a different way as
children. we tend to think around corners instead of in straight lines. sometimes for a kid, the shortest
distance between two points is not a straight line and that s the way that we think and dream (Stephen
King on Childhood). He says he uses this thought to connect childhood memories to his paranormal
present time stories. I think that

Cage Free Egg Free Eggs
The article from Huffington Post with the heading McDonald s Plans To Switch To Cage Free Eggs
mentions the announcement of McDonald s plan on cage free eggs. McDonald s plans to complete the
transition to cage free eggs in the U.S. and Canada by 2025.1 The article not only brings cage free
eggs into concern, but also raises heated discussion about whether hens should be bred in the cage free
system or in the conventional way. In this essay, I will argue that it is a right choice to switch to the
cage free system in terms of the animal welfare. Besides, I will suggest that the cage free system
should be encouraged because eggs laid by hens raised in such system embraces better nutrition.
Encouragement of cage free eggs is a bold move, but it is worth carrying out. In terms of the animal
welfare, the cage free system treats hens in a more humane manner and ensures them a life with more
freedom. An overwhelming majority of hens are limited in the conventional cages, where they each
can share only 67 square inches of the cage space.2 67 square inches cannot even compare with a
piece of letter size paper which takes up about 93.5 square inches. Such tiny space is not enough for
hens to spread their wings, let alone make nests or perch. The conventional system shows a lack of
certain humanity. Unlike the conventional system, the cage free system provides more spacious room
for hens, where they are able to walk around within a certain range, to spread their

In a dimly lit stone room, gathered around a simple stone table, surrounded by plain stone pillars,
eight large figures stood barking at each other in harsh, guttural tones. The room was undecorated;
made for utility without much care for how it pleased the eye. The green skinned men occupying the
room were far better decorated, wearing coloured furs over their leather and chain armor. Each one
was adorned with a sigil representing their tribe hanging from a chain around their neck. The largest
among them, however, wore no sigil. Instead he wore a simple iron crown with no decorations. This
marked him as the chosen leader of the tribes, and he was the only one present who held a blade. The

The Four Core Beliefs Of Derek Jeter
When you start your education at Sport and Medical Sciences Academy(SMSA) you are taught and
are expected to follow the four core beliefs that shape our school and its environment. The four core
beliefs are discipline, respect, dedication, and responsibility or how most students know it as D.R.D.R.
However, SMSA students are not the only ones that abide by these rules and beliefs. A well known
athlete that is a great example of this is the New York Yankees shortstop, Derek Jeter. According to
Jeter, his success did not come overnight. His biography displays all the hard work he went through to
become the best and he started just at the age of eight with a goal of becoming a shortstop for the New
York Yankees. Jeter inspires others to set their goals above and beyond, and if you work hard or
believe in yourself that you can achieve anything you want.
Discipline is just one of the four core beliefs and it means behavior in accord with rules of conduct,
(Dictionary.com). Throughout his career Jeter made his own rules of do s and don ts and an example
is, I always tell people that I don t like to boast and I don t like people who brag, but I break my own
rules when it comes to my parents, (Curry 55). Instead of bragging like most players would after a
win, Jeter made his own rule that he could not brag and he followed that rule, unless it comes to his
parents of course. Jeter also followed another rule, he says, I ve always felt that whether you re a
professional athlete or a bus driver, it s better to be humble, (Curry 130). Jeter probably follows most
of the rules he makes for himself every day. It keeps his behavior and the way he acts around others in
check, by now these rules are more of a habit/lifestyle instead of a burden.
Respect is the second core belief and its definition is esteem for or a sense of the worth or excellence
of a person, a personal quality or ability, or something considered as a manifestation of a personal
quality or ability, (Dictionary.com). Derek had so much respect for his coaches, teammates, and
especially his parents because when he felt like quitting they were there to make sure he achieved his
goal and dream. At a young age, Jeter and his sister Sharlee were treated

Wildland Fire Essay
Virtually everywhere in the United States is affected to one degree of another by wildland fires. Even
if a community is not directly involved with the fire itself, chances are that some of its members have
gone to help fight wildland fires in other areas of the country by providing manpower, financial
support, or other humanitarian aid.
Policies regarding the handling of wildland fires continue to change and evolve as new information is
learned each fire season. Attitudes have changed between complete wildland fire suppression to no
suppression at all. We now seem to have reached a balance between the two schools of thought and

These sources are chemical, mechanical, electrical, and nuclear.
Chemical The most common source of heat for the purpose of firefighting comes from chemical
reactions. When something burns, it is the result of a chemical reaction where heat is being released.
Pyrolysis is the decomposition or transformation of a compound caused by heat. (Coleman, et al. 81)
Mechanical The mechanical source of heat deals the heat that is created from friction. Friction is a
resistive force that occurs from the rubbing or compression of materials. For firefighters, this source of
fire is seen mostly in industrial machinery (Coleman, et al. 81).
Electrical An electric current exists when there is a net flow of charge through a given area. Electrons
flow from the negatively charged region to the positively charged region. This is usually accomplished
by using an electrical conductor which allows the electrons to pass freely through the material
(Serway, et al. 709). This flow of electrons can generate heat when collisions between the molecules
and electrons occur. These collisions then cause the molecules to break apart thus releasing heat. Some
common examples of electrical energy are lightning, static electricity, and wiring outlets (Coleman, et
al. 82). For the wildland firefighter, lightning is probably the

The Black Death As A Turning Point Essay
The Black Death was a bubonic plague pandemic that spread throughout Medieval England during the
years 1348 1350. The Black Death is believed to have killed between 30 45% of people in England
alone. There were numerous ideas if what the cause of the disease was but in reality, was a bacteria
born disease from the bacteria Yersinia pestis, which was carried on the fleas off infected black rats
and spread to Europe by Genoese trading ships from Asia. Some historians believed the Black Death
marked the beginning of a deep recession within Britain as well as the beginning of the Renaissance, a
period of striking artistic expression, whereas other historians seem to take the view point that the

Regardless, the decline in population may have simply marked a continuation of what was already
happening in Britain as according to Waley demographic growth had come to an end before the Black
Death had arrived in Europe and that it merely accentuated an existing trend, due to the severe living
conditions at the time as a result of poor sanitation and the Great Famine of 1315 17.
Inflation and a shortage of labour supply immediately implemented farmers as would likely have not
been able to afford to pay for their land due to a loss of rental income from tenants, causing them to
lose their land. Many farmers, according to Rubin sought to move away from labour intensive
cultivation to more diverse activities such as mining, pasturing and fisheries, as required less care than
crops, indicating a turning point in the ways that farmers sought to earn their money. This is supported
by Dyer , who analysed the consumption of foodstuffs of harvest workers in Norfolk, to find an
intensification in meat consumption to 15% in 1353 from 9% in 1341 and a decrease in bread
consumption from 34% in 1341, to 31% in 1353. This indicates a clear shift, which may have resulted
from the impacts of the Black Death, inferring that there may have been a turning point at the time as

and much more. People will continue arguing about these topics. According to studies, it shows that
four out of ten American women s pregnancies are terminated by abortion (Induced Abortion in the
United States). Sondra Forsyth, a journalist, wrote stories about three teens that got pregnant and their

First, there is the medical abortion. Medical abortion, sometimes called Mifeprex™, RU 486, is a non
surgical abortion done using medication. There are two different methods of medical abortion
available: mifepristone followed by misoprostol and methotrexate followed by misoprostol.
Mifepristone is a pill that is swallowed by the patient. It interferes with a woman s ability to produce a
hormone called progesterone, which is needed for the fetus to grow. MTX or methotrexate is a drug or
injection that stops embryonic cell growth and stops from growing outside the uterus. Misoprostol is
either swallowed by the patient or placed in the vagina by the doctor. The second type of abortion is
surgical abortion, also known as vacuum aspiration. Surgical abortion is when a doctor removes a
fetus from the uterus. Ectopic pregnancy is an abnormal pregnancy that grows outside the uterus and
is often found in the fallopian tube, and it is very dangerous because it can harm a woman or threaten
her future fertility (Abortion: Which Method is Right for Me?).
In conclusion, abortion should not be legal, even though abortion may take a burden off the woman s
shoulders. Abortion should be illegal because it is the killing of an innocent human being. A baby
deserves the right to live. Not only does abortion destroy a human life, but it can also severely affect
the mother, mentally, physically, and emotionally. Life is sacred and not meant to be broken. It goes
against the sixth commandments, and the landmark case of Roe v. Wade. People should be more

A Hunting Scene By Piere Di Cosimo
Often times, the artifacts of a society can tell us much about the values and beliefs of the people that
lived in it. The art and artifacts of a society must have been produced for having a significant role in
its culture and it s important that they demonstrate important characteristics of a society s culture to
the audience. By examining and comparing physical objects from different societies that depict similar
things or have similar function, we can often be able to reveal important features of each culture. Two
such pieces of art are the relief fragments from the wall of a tomb that belonged to an Egyptian official
named Khety, and a painting entitled A Hunting Scene by Italian Renaissance artist, Piere di Cosimo.
The most significant feature of these objects is that they both portray hunting scenes. The Egyptian

attempt to represent the subject as realistically and as truthfully as possible. Cosimo represents hunting

reflected a different set of practices. While the Egyptians also attempted to capture their subjects as
realistically as possible, their view of reality was different than the reality accepted by Renaissance
artists. Khety s tomb fragments demonstrated how the Egyptians commonly used stoic and idealistic

The various roles of a manager in a company will be decided by their style of management and the
way they handle various situations in an organization. The two of the main styles are autocratic and
Democratic (Jordan, 1977). With a contrast in both the style, every management style comes in a way
between these two opposing management styles. Autocratic style is oriented towards the results and
the strict rules and procedures that should be followed by the employees whereas in a Democratic
style the manager is completely oriented towards people and their needs and hence employees and
customers are the main themes for his management. The choice of management style will suit
according to the required situations as every style is not fit for every scenario and hence an efficient

John Locke s Second Treatise On Civil Government
Freedom, a concept essential to the human experience, should have some limitations. In addition, I
will explore the definition of freedom, how the power of government is also limited and how these
limitations fit into the theories of Hobbes, Locke, and Aristotle.
There should be limits to freedom because unlimited freedom can endanger the liberties of others.
Without limits to freedom, individuals can use their natural rights to cause harm and hurt others.
Freedom, as defined as by John Locke, is to be free from any superior power on earth, and not to be
under the will or legislative authority of men. If the individual exists in a society, then Locke theorizes
their liberty exists under the legislative power established by consent in the ... Show more content on

In Locke s Second Treatise on Civil Government, the philosopher theorizes on the limitations of
freedom. To begin with, Locke makes the critical point that in the state of nature men are perfectly
free to order their actions, and dispose of their possessions and themselves, in any way they like,
without asking anyone s permission. However this freedom is subject only to limits set by the law of
nature. Locke believes that the limitations to freedom are dictated by the law of nature. In Locke s
view, everyone is equal in the state of nature, with the same advantages and privileges. Therefore, no
individual has the right to abuse the liberty of others, even if they have the freedom and ability to do
so. This abuse, termed as license, exists outside the state of nature and Locke believes that this power
is not granted to anyone. This is especially important when considering the power of the government.
For Locke, the power of the government must be limited to the laws of nature. Once the government
starts acting outside the laws of nature, the government becomes illegitimate.
Aristotle also feels that freedom should be used for the peace and prosperity of others. In Aristotle s
Nicomachean Ethics, there exists two different types of freedom: positive and negative. Negative
freedom is the freedom from something, such as barriers or government coercion. Positive freedom,
which is recommended by Aristotle, is the freedom to pursue an end. For Aristotle, the ideal end is a
complete life, full of virtue. This life, full of happiness and friendship, does not exist to harm or foul to
others. Without these limitations, positive freedom would not be

Challenger Disaster
Risk Quantification
7. How did NASA decide what is or is not an acceptable risk?
NASA identified and evaluated hazards through a formalized hazard reduction process as described in
the NASA Handbook, NHB5300.4. The process required that hazards be determined for probability
and credibility. In order to ensure that the standards within NHB5300.4 were adhered to, a Senior
Safety Review Board was established for overseeing the risk assessment process. The process allowed
for a certain amount of risk to be allowed as long as it was acceptable. To determine whether or not a
hazard was an acceptable risk, NASA used a Safety Classification System, which was a qualitative
system rather than a quantitative system. This was due to the high ... Show more content on

Instead, they maintained their current trajectory of making decisions qualitatively. NASA should have
improved their risk management processes as more data was gathered. Databases could have been
compiled with the information from previous flights that could have provided probabilistic risk
assessment and trends for future flights. If NASA and Thiokol had used quantitative data when
assessing the erosion and blow by incidents, they likely would have come to a different conclusion
when they decided to launch the Challenger shuttle.
10. Which risks should be elevated? To whom should they be elevated? Who should have the final say
in the response mechanism for a risk?
All risks should be elevated to whatever level of responsibility are related to the task or component the
risk is assigned to. For example, lower level risks should be assigned to lower level management and
the critical risks, as described in exhibit V, should be the responsibility of the program manager and
the NASA administrator. It s also important to note that for the risks involved in space travel, the
astronauts on the flight should also be aware of the assumed risks that are taking place during the
development of the space shuttle. One of the issues that NASA faced during the space shuttle
development is that risks weren t assigned to a specific level of authority. No one person had the

Comparing Nature And Nature In Julius Caesar
man (2315). The narrator compares Nature to the natives, in order to emphasize the concept of purity,
which inherently goes hand in hand with the Adam and Eve reference. This comparison to nature,
portrays the vulnerability of the natives, by using Nature as a way to symbolize a modest way of life
that God had first intended for Adam and Eve in paradise. Consequently, the terms used to describe
Nature, such as harmless, inoffensive, virtuous can also be used to refer to the native people, prior to
the devastation caused by the European colonizers. Additionally, the comparison to nature also
enhances the natural state of the natives and how she is something that must be admired and protected
in order to make the most of its existence. The narrator openly admits the erroneous ways of
Europeans, by claiming that the invaders could have learned far more from the natives than all the
inventions of man, which exposes the barbarity of European intervention. Despite coming to the
realization that both cultures can learn a lot from each other, the narrator merely conveys the extent of
the natives purity and continues to document the varying degrees of oppression. Ultimately, Behn
signifies the shift of power when Mr. Trefrey changes Oroonoko s name to Caesar and the narrator
follows through with this oppressive gesture, by calling him Caesar until the end of his narrative. The
name change foreshadows Oroonoko s tragic death, but also serves as a representation of

Analysis Of The Poem Death Of A Soldier
Faaiza Ajmal

English 100 ONLINE

Analysis: Death of a Solider
Louisa May Alcott served as a volunteered nurse during the American Civil War, which took place in
the 1860 s. It was a brutal war between the United States and the Confederate states. Alcott
documented the last days of a brave solider named John. The almost thirty year old seldom spoke,
uttered no complaint, asked no sympathy, but tranquilly observed what went on about him.
With the use of several changing literary parts in the essay, Death of a Soldier, written by Louisa May
Alcott, the writer s remembrance of such a terrible disaster is a lot simpler to imagine and feel than if
she had recited her tale dully and emotionless. The meaning of Louisa May Alcott s, Death of a
Soldier is obvious in its reason to accentuate the different responses of a person in relation to death, in
addition to describing the more pleasing results of such a sad incident. She expressed her story by the
use of vivid descriptions and similes in her essay. It made the readers in a way experience what she
was going through.
In her story, Alcott showed the nurse s sympathy towards John even in the case of his unavoidable
death. She showed the soldiers unselfish mindset and added meaning to her words by using
similarities. She used some key strategies that really brought life to her piece of writing, with the
intention of inflicting an intense feeling that is able to move the readers. She was also

Mayan Accomplishments
The Mesoamerican society of the ancient Maya was one of the most dominant civilizations of its time.
Centered in what is now Guatemala, this empire reached its peak around the sixth century CE. The
Maya excelled in a variety of fields such as agriculture, pottery, writing, and mathematics, just to
name a few. Many of their accomplishments can be traced back to their deeply religious way of life.
Understanding the Mayan religion gives us insight into their values and traditions; it allows us to see
the world through the eyes of the ancient Mayans. Astronomical discovery is at the heart of Maya
religion and culture. Without the advent of modern technology such as telescopes and computers, they
were able to successfully track cycles of celestial

Vertigo Movie Essay
Alfred Hitchcock outdid himself once again when releasing, Vertigo, in 1958, which coined a new
camera movement respectfully still referred to today as the Vertigo Shot . In this mysterious and
disturbing love story, drawn out characterization tied with a specific repetitive camera movements,
highlight the fantasy world the obsessively in love main character, Scottie, descents into when falling
for a forbidden love. Through this alignment with Scottie, in Vertigo, Hitchcock brilliantly traps the
audience in Scottie s fantasy world along with him, where his illicit desires plausible, until Hitchcock
cleverly employs certain point of view and narrative sequences allowing the audience by the end of
the movie to come back to reality and realize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The initial sound heard, even before any credits come on the screen, is an eerie suspenseful music that
reminds one of a twilight zone while also making the audience feel anxious. It then opens with a close
up frame of the face of who we later learn to be the woman Scottie falls in love with, Madeleine. The
shot then continues to pan her face, from her lips to her eyes, displaying her beauty, which is further
portrayed and intensified throughout the whole movie as Scottie falls deeper and deeper in love with
her. When the camera zooms in to show a close up shot of both her eyes that completely fill the frame,
the eyes look left and right to create the sense of being watched and followed, a common motif
throughout the film. The digital editing comes into play shortly after when the camera zooms in on
just one of her eyes, which after the eye widens and glows a florescent red color, creating an even
deeper sense of fear, a digital circling object appears in the center of her eye, and grows until
eventually filling the whole frame. This circling object creates the first initial feeling of vertigo,
allowing the audience to experience what Scottie feels in the opening scene, allowing the audience to
subjectively align itself with Scottie in future scenes without even meeting

Solar Mass Helium Essay
Option 1 Solar Mass Main Sequence Star
Once its 10 billion years of burning comes to an end, the hydrogen that it has been using as a fuel
source has, for the most part, depleted. The center of the star begins to increase in size as the
production of helium increases and an inner core of helium starts to grow. The helium does not burn at
these temperatures so the burning is moved out to higher layers. This inner core begins to shrink under
the force of gravity and while the star is extremely hot, it is still too cool to fuse helium. The burning
of hydrogen in the outer layers, however, increases and the radius of the star increases nearly three
times, bringing the star out of Main Sequence section and into the category of subgiant.

The inner core has reached its final high density state and the nuclear burning surrounding it increases
in intensity. The helium burning becomes unstable and the shell becomes sensitive to changes in
temperature and high in pressure, causing explosive flashes. The star s outermost layers begin to
expand and contract as they heat and cool in response to the flashes. Once the star exhausts the
remaining fuel at its core, ultraviolet radiation ionizes the surrounding cloud and the star. The result is
a planetary nebula, which is a round or oval shape created by the escaping of expanding

Love Medicine Character Analysis
Erdrich s novel, suitably titled Love Medicine encapsules numerous and colourful characters. An
interrelated story centered on two Chippewa families, the Kashpaws and the Lamartines, and the way
these families are interwoven. Lulu Lamartine, one of the interesting characters, described as hyper
sensual but determined, is brought to life by what others say about her, how the speaker describes her
and what her actions convey about her. Readers are overwhelmed with amazement as they discover
Lulu through these portrayals and are spell bound with rapt attention throughout the events in the
novel. Readers come to understand hyper sensual but determined Lulu Lamartine by what others say

He is of the same opinion that his mother is a hyper sensual but determined person. He is aware of his
mother s escapades from childhood by what he hears in the community. Even as a grown man running

they have a disagreement in the factory where she works for him. He describes her here as, Lulu
Lamartine was usually controlled as a cat and got her way through coaxing, cajoling, rubbing against
your leg. An old woman who remained infuriatingly pretty, she bent others to her will before they

and what he says about her is very parallel to what all the other characters know her to be. A complex,
hyper sensual but determined Lulu Lamartine appears all through the story and connects the families
together. Though her behaviour might be unusual because of her strong sexual desire, she shows care
and compassion to people, especially family. Lulu is frank in giving her opinion and very mischievous
in having her way with people. Might have come from a family that uses witchcraft to manipulate

What Is The Theme Of The Movie Girlhood
Girlhood Movie Review Life displays many petrifying inevitable circumstances to things that
humanity must live by. A main significant theme in Girlhood is coming of age, and I believe that
growing up is one of those petrifying inevitable issues that life leaves us to face by ourselves.
Marieme, the protagonist played by Karidja Touré, eventually finds herself going through several
difficulties in a rough environment. Unconfident about her choices in life, Marieme struggles
constantly until she discovers her inner strengths. French screenwriter, and film director, Céline
Sciamma, introduces the coming of age theme by screening different stylistic choices Marieme goes

Many parts of the film were confusing unless you took the time to pause and think about the concepts
of certain scenes, as many were needed to re watch it to fully understand. The movie being French had
nothing to do with my confusion in fact, I think that the movie being French is what allowed me to
give it a half more than my original rate. Although I found the message of the film to be a bit foggy, I
have to admit that it has a very magnificent message when you follow up with it. Losing yourself is a
very difficult situation to deal with, especially if at the moment you allow your heart to believe that
the people you re standing by now are the people that can satisfy your social happiness. Marieme
learning from her faults is an excellent example of how we should keep our fighting spirits up and
never give up on anything or anyone we love. The harsh truth is; sometimes that person we forget to
cut some slack, and or to love through all their faults is ourselves. Once we learn to overcome that, the
wonders of the world will be inevitable to occur

Analyzing Themes in Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken Essay
Analyzing Themes in Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken
This is a wonderful poem with many different themes and ideas. One of the biggest themes is not
being afraid to take a chance. Some of the other themes include, not following the crowd, trying new
things, and standing for something. This poem stated that the author took the one (road) less traveled
by, and that has made all the difference so the author is telling the reader that we too should not be
afraid to take another path.
The Road Not Taken is a twenty line poem written in iambic pentameter with the rhyme scheme

Could he be referring to his own death and a decesion that he may have made that makes him feel
more confident about his salvation? Another thing the author is saying is that he wanted to take both
roads, but he knew he couldn t. So what he really wanted was the best of both worlds, meaning he
wanted to take both roads. There is a common saying about not being able to have the best of both
worlds, and it applies very well in this situation; you can t have your cake and eat it too. He eventually
ends up making up his mind; he chooses the road that was ...grassy and wanted wear (5). Many people
before him had taken the road he did not select, and it is possible that we can look at that road as being
the easy way out. We can tell that not may people have taken the road in which he has selected,
because it still has a lot of grass growing there; this road could symbolize the long term success of
doing what is right and not what is easy. It would have been easiest for him to take the same road as
everybody, but instead he wanted to be different from the people around him. In the poem the author
says, I doubted if I should ever come back (5 ); could this be because he likes the road he choose? We
have all made choices in our lives that made us so happy that we did not want to go back to our old
ways; is that what the author feels? I believe the main point the author is trying to get across in this
poem is

This disease was belongs the the microbial group of virus. This infection is asymptomatic, but it is a chronic infection that may lead to scarring of the liver and ultimately to cirrhosis. The liver is a vital organ that processes nutrients, filters the blood, and fights infections. When the liver is inflamed or damaged, its function can be affected. A blood test called Hepatitis C Antibody Test. This test helps to look for antibodies to the Hepatitis C virus. Antibodies are chemicals released into the bloodstream when someone gets infected. Antibodies remain in the bloodstream even the person already cleared from the virus. A positive or reactive Hepatitis C Antibody Test means that a person has been infected with the Hepatitis C virus at some point in time. However, a positive antibody test does not necessarily mean a person still has Hepatitis C. In addition, RNA test is needed to determine if a person is currently infected with Hepatitis C. Even if there is currently no vaccine to prevent Hepatitis C, there are still ways to reduce the risk of becoming infected with the Hepatitis C virus. First, avoid sharing or reusing needles, syringes or any other equipment to prepare and inject drugs, steroids, hormones, or other substances. Second, do not use personal items that may have come into contact with an infected person s blood, even in amounts too small to see, such as razors, nail clippers, toothbrushes, or glucose monitors. • 3. Natural Disasters And Manmade Disasters Essay Abstract Some or maybe all of us have been a part of some event that has taken place throughout their existence. The events that you or other people may have taken part in have been for enjoyment or for pleasure as for others or there are people who have gone through a series of events that has completely ruined their lives in a matter of days. Just to throw this out there, some events that could ruin people lives are natural disasters or manmade disasters, losing someone that you cared about most in this world. These events leave us looking hopeless, needing a sense of direction and a big contribution from the man upstairs. I m here to talk to you about a natural disaster that happen just a little over 10 years ago and the event that had taken place was Hurricane Katrina. What comes to mind when we think of the word natural disaster? Well my take on it is that it s a major adverse event resulting from the natural processes of the Earth. Natural disasters can claim properties, damage the economy, and can even result in death. You know as well as I know what happened in Hurricane Katrina. I went through it back in 2005. I m here to research and provide a summary of the event, to examine the precautions (preparations) that were taken beforehand when the storm was still in the tropics, to take a look at how the local, state, and federal governments responded to the event and talk about the recovery process and where the state of Louisiana is today. One such individual came to be known as the butcher of Uganda, Idi Amin. Raised in the Muslim faith and hailing from the northwestern areas of Uganda known as Koboko, from a small ethnic tribe known as the Kakwa. • 5. Prosthetic Hip Dislocation And Its Effects Prosthetic Hip Dislocation A prosthetic hip dislocation means that your artificial hip joint (prosthesis) has moved out of place. This can happen because of a hard, direct hit or injury (trauma) to the hip, such as a fall. A prosthetic hip joint may be more likely to dislocate than a normal hip joint because a prosthetic hip joint does not have all the structures that normally hold the joint in place. After the prosthetic hip is moved back into place, you will generally recover fully. Prosthetic hip dislocation is a medical emergency that requires immediate treatment. CAUSES This condition is often caused by trauma to the hip. Trauma may be caused by: Falls, especially falls from a height. Motor vehicle accidents. Contact sports. Industrial accidents. RISK FACTORS This condition is more likely to develop in: People over 60 years of age. People with bone loss (osteoporosis). People who lack vitamin D. People who are overweight or obese. People who lack hip strength and flexibility. People with poor vision. SYMPTOMS Symptoms of this condition include: Severe pain in the hip area. Pain may get worse when you move or try to put weight on the hip. Inability to move the hip. The leg on the side of the dislocated hip appearing shorter than the other leg. Profile based personalized web search (PWS) has determine their effectiveness in improving the quality of various internet search technique. We study security of privacy protection for PWS applications that as hierarchical user profiles. In this paper we can implement the PWS system called UPS that can flexibly create profiles by queries while regarding user definite privacy requirements. Our runtime generalization goals at striking a level between two predictive metrics that evaluate the effectiveness of personalization and the privacy risk of exposing the generalized profile. We implemented this system with greedy algorithms, for runtime profile generalization also provides a runtime prediction mechanism for determining whether personalizing a query is useful. Extensive experiments prove the effectiveness of our system. The experimental results also reveal that Greedy algorithms significantly outperform in terms of effectiveness. Basically, Jesus was saying everyone who hears his words and put them into practice is like a man who builds a house on a strong foundation. As for foolish build that does not build on the strong foundation, when disaster come, the house was destructed. The principle is the same as developing a strong and secure product/system by following the system development life cycle and risk management framework. Using the security model will enhance the stability of the product and decrease the risk of exposing any vulnerabilities. Questions 1. Which phase of the security engineering holds the most critical part? 2. Does the US government follow the same security engineering framework as the article says? 3. • 10. Rodney Castleden s The Stonehenge Stonehenge is one of the most famous sites in the world from the Neolithic period. It began as early as 3000 BC, and went under different stages of arrangement. Known for its circle of giant stones standing in Salisbury Plain, this monument has baffled archeologists for centuries. Stonehenge, which derives from the Saxon term for hanging stones, has been examined several times over the centuries, but the primary reason for its creation remains unknown. The only information we do know is that it was a religious site, and that worship here involved the cycles of the sun; the alignment of the stones on the axis of the mid summer sunrise makes this clear. The books I choose to review this topic each approach the ideology behind this monument; each in a different way. In the first half of The Stonehenge People, Rodney Castleden investigates, in detail, many of the popular sites that could contribute to figuring out the reconstruction of Neolithic society. Moreover, he begins with the impact man had on the land, from the development of trade routes to the beginning of settlements and agriculture. In this experiment, the bacteria, Serratia, was used to test the strength of different solutions containing capsaicin using jalapeno seeds mixed with water, ethanol, or both, and compared with a control without the seeds. The zones of inhibition were then measured after one week to compare the reaction between each solution to the bacteria. • 18. Virtue Ethics and Ethics of Care Essay Fried Pataters Mr. Hahn Phil 2310 10 May 2010 Virtue Ethics and Ethics of Care Aristotle and Rita Manning both have different theories when it comes to ethics. Aristotle uses virtue ethics to answer questions about morality whereas Manning uses what is called ethics of caring to do the same thing. Virtue ethics claims people s actions aim towards the highest good of happiness. From happiness, moral virtue stems from reasons governing the desires of the soul. Manning on the other hand believes that moral actions extend from people caring for one another on a personal level. By developing the ability to care for others, people become morally aware of how to act in certain situations. When the question of: how ought I live my life? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then there are the two extreme ends of the states of character which is superhuman virtue and brutishness. Superhuman virtue is displaying virtuous character in every case including extreme situations. On the opposite end, brutishness is absent of reason and the desires are so morbidly wrong that the actions are morbidly wrong as a result. Aristotle feels people should strive for the superhuman virtue state, yet because being superhumanly virtuous is incredibly difficult, being virtuous or continent is seen as good as well. Rita Manning s approach to ethics is referred to as ethics of caring. She claims that ethics of caring has two elements, the first being disposition to care. Disposition to care is a willingness to receive others, a willingness to give the lucid attention required to appropriately fill the needs of others (Manning 477). The disposition deals with a commitment to caring for the needs of others. Manning claims that humans are obligated to care for not only the needs of others, but also what is required for the needs of others. A great example is sending beef to India after a natural disaster. By sending provisions, people are showing they care but they fail to realize that Hindu people do not eat beef. Instead, people should learn more about the people they are helping so that they can send provisions that will do the most good. Transcendentalist Transcendentalism and Christianity Have Incompatible Beliefs Transcendentalism is a group of new ideas in literature, religion, culture, and philosophy that emerged in the early to middle 19th century (Wikipedia). Transcendentalism first started with Ralph Waldo Emerson, one of the pioneers of the Transcendentalists, who in his essay Nature , criticized several things, especially the Unitarian church (Wikipedia). Many other Transcendentalists such as Thomas Parker, Henry David Thoreau, Amos Bronson Alcott, and James Freeman Clark, along with Emerson, were critics of their society because they didn t like the fact that people had unthinking conformity (Stanford 1). This means that God occupies the first place in their beliefs; therefore, they will never put God and nature in the same unity as Transcendentalists do. A last incompatible belief about God between Transcendentalists and Christians is that Transcendentalists believe that human beings can become like God, that they can grow a resemblance to God (Stanford 2). Christians do not have the same point of view about that because, for them, God is perfect and the creator of everything, including humans (Certificate 2). So, logically, there is no way that humans could achieve the perfection of their creator. The incompatible beliefs about God make the two doctrines even more incompatible because Transcendentalists don t see God as powerful as Christians do. The last area where the beliefs of Transcendentalists and Christians are incompatible is about the Bible. The Bible or Holy Scriptures contains the Old and New Testaments which are the written words of God and Christians believe strongly in it. They say that it was given by God and contains his knowledge which is the basis of Christian s theology (Certificate 2). But Transcendentalists don t like the idea of putting theology between people and God (Gentry). They believe that people can by themselves know more about God or the truth in general (Lewis). This is incompatible with the Christians beliefs about the truth found in the Bible. Another reason why Transcendentalist and Christian beliefs about the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. King Stephen King Reflection The video Stephen King on Childhood changed the way I look at things. He claims, the things that really scare us are the things that are going on just outside the spotlight that you can t quite see ( Stephen King on Childhood ). The video starts off with Stephen King talking about a day he was walking and came across a little girl on the side of the street drawing in the dirt talking to herself or an imaginary person. Then, he thought to himself, If I did that, somebody would come along and say there s a grown man sitting in the dirt, talking to himself to people who aren t there and drawing with a stick ( Stephen King on Childhood ). If I saw a grown man doing that, I would be a little creeped out. If a little kid was doing it, I would think that was a normal thing for kids to do. He is talking about how when we are kids, we can think, imagine, and dream about whatever we want because there are no limits. When we start growing up, we realize what reality is. We snap into this new mode and change the way we think, imagine, and dream. When I was a kid, I would think the most bizarre things, like when I would connect anything to a face, like cars, buildings, clouds, houses, etc. I would try to explain it to my parents they would think I was crazy and had no idea what I was talking about. Next, the interviewer, Thomas Smith, asks Stephen, Did you have a highly developed sense of evil yourself as a child or were you obsessed by the nature of evil? (Stephen King on Childhood). King then goes on to ask why people ask about his childhood. He does not remember having an unusual childhood. Then, because of him not remembering, something bad must have happened when he was a kid. King then goes on to talk about, I think a lot of people make the assumption that we block memories that are terrible. When I think what really happens is this: that we think in a different way as children. we tend to think around corners instead of in straight lines. sometimes for a kid, the shortest distance between two points is not a straight line and that s the way that we think and dream (Stephen King on Childhood). He says he uses this thought to connect childhood memories to his paranormal present time stories. I think that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

McDonald s plans to complete the transition to cage free eggs in the U.S. and Canada by 2025.1 The article not only brings cage free eggs into concern, but also raises heated discussion about whether hens should be bred in the cage free system or in the conventional way. In this essay, I will argue that it is a right choice to switch to the cage free system in terms of the animal welfare. Besides, I will suggest that the cage free system should be encouraged because eggs laid by hens raised in such system embraces better nutrition. Encouragement of cage free eggs is a bold move, but it is worth carrying out. In terms of the animal welfare, the cage free system treats hens in a more humane manner and ensures them a life with more freedom. An overwhelming majority of hens are limited in the conventional cages, where they each can share only 67 square inches of the cage space.2 67 square inches cannot even compare with a piece of letter size paper which takes up about 93.5 square inches. Such tiny space is not enough for hens to spread their wings, let alone make nests or perch. The conventional system shows a lack of certain humanity. • 30. The Four Core Beliefs Of Derek Jeter When you start your education at Sport and Medical Sciences Academy(SMSA) you are taught and are expected to follow the four core beliefs that shape our school and its environment. The four core beliefs are discipline, respect, dedication, and responsibility or how most students know it as D.R.D.R. However, SMSA students are not the only ones that abide by these rules and beliefs. A well known athlete that is a great example of this is the New York Yankees shortstop, Derek Jeter. According to Jeter, his success did not come overnight. His biography displays all the hard work he went through to become the best and he started just at the age of eight with a goal of becoming a shortstop for the New York Yankees. Jeter inspires others to set their goals above and beyond, and if you work hard or believe in yourself that you can achieve anything you want. Discipline is just one of the four core beliefs and it means behavior in accord with rules of conduct, (Dictionary.com). Throughout his career Jeter made his own rules of do s and don ts and an example is, I always tell people that I don t like to boast and I don t like people who brag, but I break my own rules when it comes to my parents, (Curry 55). Instead of bragging like most players would after a win, Jeter made his own rule that he could not brag and he followed that rule, unless it comes to his parents of course. Jeter also followed another rule, he says, I ve always felt that whether you re a professional athlete or a bus driver, it s better to be humble, (Curry 130). Jeter probably follows most of the rules he makes for himself every day. It keeps his behavior and the way he acts around others in check, by now these rules are more of a habit/lifestyle instead of a burden. Respect is the second core belief and its definition is esteem for or a sense of the worth or excellence of a person, a personal quality or ability, or something considered as a manifestation of a personal quality or ability, (Dictionary.com). Derek had so much respect for his coaches, teammates, and especially his parents because when he felt like quitting they were there to make sure he achieved his goal and dream. Pyrolysis is the decomposition or transformation of a compound caused by heat. (Coleman, et al. 81) Mechanical The mechanical source of heat deals the heat that is created from friction. Friction is a resistive force that occurs from the rubbing or compression of materials. For firefighters, this source of fire is seen mostly in industrial machinery (Coleman, et al. 81). This is usually accomplished by using an electrical conductor which allows the electrons to pass freely through the material (Serway, et al. 709). This flow of electrons can generate heat when collisions between the molecules and electrons occur. These collisions then cause the molecules to break apart thus releasing heat. MTX or methotrexate is a drug or injection that stops embryonic cell growth and stops from growing outside the uterus. Misoprostol is either swallowed by the patient or placed in the vagina by the doctor. The second type of abortion is surgical abortion, also known as vacuum aspiration. The art and artifacts of a society must have been produced for having a significant role in its culture and it s important that they demonstrate important characteristics of a society s culture to the audience. By examining and comparing physical objects from different societies that depict similar things or have similar function, we can often be able to reveal important features of each culture. Two such pieces of art are the relief fragments from the wall of a tomb that belonged to an Egyptian official named Khety, and a painting entitled A Hunting Scene by Italian Renaissance artist, Piere di Cosimo. In addition, I will explore the definition of freedom, how the power of government is also limited and how these limitations fit into the theories of Hobbes, Locke, and Aristotle. There should be limits to freedom because unlimited freedom can endanger the liberties of others. Without limits to freedom, individuals can use their natural rights to cause harm and hurt others. Freedom, as defined as by John Locke, is to be free from any superior power on earth, and not to be under the will or legislative authority of men. If the individual exists in a society, then Locke theorizes their liberty exists under the legislative power established by consent in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Locke s Second Treatise on Civil Government, the philosopher theorizes on the limitations of freedom. To begin with, Locke makes the critical point that in the state of nature men are perfectly free to order their actions, and dispose of their possessions and themselves, in any way they like, without asking anyone s permission. However this freedom is subject only to limits set by the law of nature. Locke believes that the limitations to freedom are dictated by the law of nature. In Locke s view, everyone is equal in the state of nature, with the same advantages and privileges. Therefore, no individual has the right to abuse the liberty of others, even if they have the freedom and ability to do so. This abuse, termed as license, exists outside the state of nature and Locke believes that this power is not granted to anyone. This is especially important when considering the power of the government. For Locke, the power of the government must be limited to the laws of nature. Once the government starts acting outside the laws of nature, the government becomes illegitimate. Aristotle also feels that freedom should be used for the peace and prosperity of others. In Aristotle s Nicomachean Ethics, there exists two different types of freedom: positive and negative. Negative freedom is the freedom from something, such as barriers or government coercion. Positive freedom, which is recommended by Aristotle, is the freedom to pursue an end. For Aristotle, the ideal end is a complete life, full of virtue. NASA identified and evaluated hazards through a formalized hazard reduction process as described in the NASA Handbook, NHB5300.4. In order to ensure that the standards within NHB5300.4 were adhered to, a Senior Safety Review Board was established for overseeing the risk assessment process. • 44. Comparing Nature And Nature In Julius Caesar man (2315). The narrator compares Nature to the natives, in order to emphasize the concept of purity, which inherently goes hand in hand with the Adam and Eve reference. This comparison to nature, portrays the vulnerability of the natives, by using Nature as a way to symbolize a modest way of life that God had first intended for Adam and Eve in paradise. Consequently, the terms used to describe Nature, such as harmless, inoffensive, virtuous can also be used to refer to the native people, prior to the devastation caused by the European colonizers. Additionally, the comparison to nature also enhances the natural state of the natives and how she is something that must be admired and protected in order to make the most of its existence. The narrator openly admits the erroneous ways of Europeans, by claiming that the invaders could have learned far more from the natives than all the inventions of man, which exposes the barbarity of European intervention. Despite coming to the realization that both cultures can learn a lot from each other, the narrator merely conveys the extent of the natives purity and continues to document the varying degrees of oppression. Ultimately, Behn signifies the shift of power when Mr. Trefrey changes Oroonoko s name to Caesar and the narrator follows through with this oppressive gesture, by calling him Caesar until the end of his narrative.
