CREATIVE CRITICAL
REFLECTION
Q4: How did you integrate technologies in this
project?
BY HIRA

FOR PRESENTATIONS
I switched between Powerpoint and Canva as I found these
the easiest and most dynamic tools to work with in creating
good slides, also the fact that they were free with no catch
involved. I made presentations on both softwares detailing
my USPs, my notes on representation, and the mapwork of
my production phase, which ended up being very fruitful as
by writing it out and creating a presentation I was able to
flesh out the workings of the magazine properly rather than
having rough approximations in my mind.
I took photos with my phone and also
used my phone to photograph for my
preliminary and final portfolio magazine
tasks.
I used the Boomerang feature on
Instagram to create a boomerang that
announced my magazine name.
I also used the 'timelapse' feature to
capture my photoshoot process.
I used the blogging website Wordpress to
document the whole process of coming to
create my magazine from day 1.
I would usually jot down ideas on paper
before adding them on to my blog or
creating work for it.
FOR DOCUMENTING THE PROCESS
I used Google Forms as a survey tool and also used Whatsapp
and Instagram to get the survey circulating. I used Youtube to
embed my video links on the website along with Slideshare to
embed my presentations. I used MS Word to make documents
of the utilities/number based data and also Notes app on my
phone to make notes when I did not have a notebook on me.
Most of all, I learned from Photoshop. I said previously and I will say it
again, I believe the best way to learn in this field is by doing.
Photoshop was something that I always wanted to learn but was too
overwhelmed to try. A part of why I took up Media Studies was the fact
that it would force me to learn how to operate softwares like
Photoshop.
Moreover, Google as a search engine and Google Images helped me
immensely by giving me the platform to observe so many different
magazine covers and double spreads; not just how the cover was shot,
but how the cover lines were written, what kind of language they used,
color schemes, etc. All these helped me to come up with and create my
own magazine.
