Evaluation 6: What have you learnt
about technologies from the process
of constructing this product?
I have used a variety of technologies such as:
- Slideshare: Slideshare is a programme that allows you to create online PowerPoints
putting them on blogs. I used this to organise my work, as I did not like all the photos
and information being spread out onto one page – this way made it easy by making it
compact and ordered together. I found it extremely difficult to embed the PowerPoint
onto my blog however, as soon as I found my way around it, I found it easy and
extremely helpful to use.
- - Blogger: Blogger is a website that allows people to create their own blogs about
anything. Obviously, I had to create one to show my progress through my magazine
coursework and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I have used similar blogging sites before
so I did not find it too difficult to work with and I liked the fact that I could view it from
another person’s perspective; so I could keep checking on my progress throughout the
course.
- - Photoshop: Photoshop is a photo-editing programme that allows you to edit photos
or create entirely new ones. I did not enjoy using this programme very much as I found
it frustrating and time-consuming. However, I do feel I have grown in confidence with
using particular programmes like this, which is always a good skill to go back on if I
ever need to use it again. Using Photoshop helped me create conventional images that
are both creative and professional by allowing me to edit them in ways that I could
transform them to fit into the style of the rock genre.
-Survey Monkey: Survey Monkey is a website that allows you to
create questionnaires about anything. I found this very helpful
when creating my audience questionnaire because it meant that I
did not have to go around asking every individual in my class and
instead, they could fill it out themselves in their own time. I also
found it rather easy/simple to do and enjoyed making my
questionnaire on it.
I have also used technologies such as a computer. I used the
computer to put my progress onto my blog and to overall use the
rest of the programmes I have used. I also used the internet a lot
for research and for viewing other people’s blogs if I ever was
stuck on a piece of coursework.
I have learnt that using technologies in the producing
and editing of a magazine is incredibly important
because it is what creates the final magazine product. It
helps to edit photos and order information/text to fit the
magazine and to please its audience, which is important
otherwise; there would be no point in publishing the
magazine without an audience.
