Descriptive Essay Pizza
The wait was around five minutes, which was reasonable, considering how crowded the inside
looked. Every table was filled up. Eventually, I am seated close to the entrance. I immediately am
intrigued over how diverse the menu is. At first, the sandwiches caught my eye. I noticed the
Chicken Tender Melt, with tenders served on grilled Texas Toast with American cheese
, bacon, beer
braised onions, BBQ sauce, and ranch. Or I could get the Chicken Bacon Swiss, which had a
grilled chicken breast topped with crisp bacon, melted Swiss cheese, honey mustard, and
mayonnaise on a grilled marble rye bread. All the sandwiches were affordable at around $12 or $13.
Then I glanced at the Hand Cut Signature Steak Section. The cheapest one at $24 was the
Medora Sirloin, a 10 ounce sirloin topped with roasted garlic butter. The most expensive steak
was called the Bakken at $33. This one was a 22 ounce Ribeye topped with roasted garlic butter. I
looked in my wallet. Sadly, I didn t have enough money to buy one of these steaks, which was
disappointing.
Then I was debating on whether to choose a pizza or a burger. I asked the waiter,
What is the most popular pizza?
The most popular one would be the Players Taco Pizza, he replied.
I quickly looked at what was in it. House prepared taco meat, tomatoes, red onions, black olives,
mozzarella, and cheddar jack cheese topped with taco sauce. It also included Baja lettuce and tri
colored nacho chips. A small was priced at $10 and the large

Native American Cultural Beliefs
To understand why they celebrate, you have to look into their past to see who they are, where
they ve been. To see what it s like dancing in moccasins. Each nation has a different story, but you
might find that collectively, they celebrate the preservation of a way of life as much as life
itself. To make sense of that, Channel Nine, Harmony Alliance, KCP L, the Anti Defamation
League, McDonald s, and IBM went to the Kickapoo Reservation to talk to Paul Guiseppe, a
tribal elder who is well respected because he has seen a lot. Stated, at one time, this whole
continent, the United States, was our country. It was taken away from us. We was forced to go on.

And they say there s one other thing that keeps it going. The most important person is observing
us and looking at us, and that s Almighty God. And if the dancing and singing in good spirit, he s
going to smile. He says that smile kept the Indian people alive in the past, and it helps them
presently. And as long as it remains, there will be Indian people, people of tradition, people
dancing in moccasins. The connection I can make between the film and the Medicine PPT, is
on slide 22. Where it talks about The Green Corn Festival had been revitalized by Emma Baker
and was the annual focus of tribal activity in Gladys s youth (52). At that celebration, those who
held a special place in the tribal community pounded yokeag. They connected each generation of
Mohegans with ancestors who had done the same act for that same reason for thousands of years
(52). The festival of corn requires a full four seasons of preparation. Yokeag is dried, while
Mohegans sew piles of ribbons, feathers, fringe, and beads into regalia (54). I make these two
connections because Green Corn Festival can be related to the Moccasins dancing. Because of their
tradition and

Ego Theory and Bundle Theory Essay
Intro to Philosophy
Ego Theory and Bundle Theory Derek Parfit s views on personal identity and the Ego and Bundle
Theory are all summarized in his article Divided Minds and the Nature of Persons . In his article,
Parfit explains the distinction between Ego theory and Bundle theory and provides several
arguments against Ego Theory. Although it proves to be very difficult to believe the Bundle
Theory, Parfit s critique is convincing and well thought out. In order to defend the Bundle Theory
of personal identity Parfit begins to describe it and differentiates it from Ego Theory. Parfit states
that there are two theories about what persons are or what a person s personal identity really is.
According to Ego Theory, each person has an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parfit asks if that copy is still you or has the real you actually died? He then asks; what if only
1% of your cells were replaced? Many would say if only 1% were replaced, the person would
still be you but at what percentage of cells is the new being no longer you? Parfit argues that the
question is irrelevant and that these are not here two different possibilities, one of which must be
true. These are merely two different descriptions of the very same course of events. To further
support the bundle theory, Parfit references split brain cases. A split brain case is what happens
when the corpus callosum connecting the two hemispheres of the brain is severed to some degree
in order to treat severe epilepsy. A person with a split brain shows to have two separate streams
of consciousness. Ego Theory would argue that there are two separate egos but only one person.
When separating ego from person does Ego Theory still hold valid? Parfit and the Bundle Theory
state that this is an example of a different awareness of events occurring at the same time, not
different egos. According to Parfit there is no person involved. Parfit s distinction between Ego
theory and Bundle Theory and his arguments against Ego theory are convincing. He uses many
example to help support his claim. Both his thought experiment and the split brain cases support the
idea of bundle theory and disprove the more common Ego

Fetal Pig Dissection Lab Report
To continue, I then began to examine the endocrine system of the fetal pig. I began this dissection
by finding the endocrine organs that are located in the area of throat. These organs were the thyroid
and thymus. The thyroid s responsibility is to produce amino acids that will help to regulate
metabolism. The shape of the thyroidis oval like, and has a dark brown tint. The second endocrine
organ found in the throat is the thymus. The thymus functions to provide immunity against
diseases. It has a pink appearance, and is long in length. I was successful in finding three endocrine
organs in the abdominal cavity. The first organ found was the adrenal gland. The function of this
gland is to produce various hormones. This gland is identifiable... Show more content on

This complex organ can be found in upper right side of the abdomen. It is unique because it is a
dual functioning organ. The first function is to control the body s blood sugar level. The second
function is to secrete insulin and glucagon. Lastly, I studied the testes of the fetal pig, which I
found at the end of the scrotum under the skin. The teste are a key part in the process of secreting
testosterone. After completing this section I began to dissect the last system of the pig. The final
system of the body I examined was the digestive system. This is known to be one of the most
interesting areas of the body because of the many functions the system is responsible for. This
system is also home to several major organs. One major organ is the salivary gland. This gland is in
the lower part of the face, as well as the side of the face under the ear along the jaw line. The key
function is the gland s ability to produce saliva. These glands are light pink, and have a few
possible shapes and sizes. Following the gland, I began to take a look at the pharynx. This organ
can be found posterior to the larynx, and near the nasal and oral cavities. The pharynx is
responsible for assisting with the passage of food. It is a muscle like tube with the same

English 200 Class Reflection
Throughout this semester, I was able to learn quite a bit in English 200. This class helped me
recognize what my weaknesses and strengths are when it comes to writing essays. I also liked
the different focuses and assignments that we had to do for this class. If someone asked me what
is a good writing intensive class to take, I would recommend this class because of the papers that
we wrote helped us focus on our disciplines. The only paperthat did not really focus on our
discipline was the research paper because we got to choose what we were interested in. I enjoyed

The Importance Of Creationism In Schools
Creationism does not explain how the earth was created, therefore it should not be taught as a
science and should not be taught in schools. My thesis is important, because schools are trying to
stop teaching evolution because they believe it is not the way life on earth started. The teaching
of evolution in schools is important, because it teaches students the correct reason for how life on
earth started. The articles that I collected for my research, where academic journals from the
library data base and had a stand point towards science. My paper will give the reader a broader
view point on why creationismshould not be taught in schools and how evolutionshould remain in
schools.
Creationism has been a controversial topic in our school systems and schools in some states are
fighting to have it taught instead of evolution as a science. Creationism is the belief that all living
organisms originated from a biblical process instead of evolution. We will never really know how
the earth was created, but by the use of science, we can get a better understanding of it. Therefore
creationism should not be taught as a science and should not be taught in school. The teachers are
the people that have to deal with this topic the most because of all the pressure they get from school
administrators, parents and the community. Some science teachers have been told not to teach
about evolution, but they did it nevertheless. One of the most famous cases was the

Gun Laws Decrease Violence
Will More Stringent Gun Laws Decrease Violence? In this article, Robert McCartney, a
newspaper reporter from the Washington Post who also has his own radio show, interviews a
Washington D.C. doctor about gun violence. Dr. Janis Orlowski, former chief medical officer of
a D.C. area hospital, Medstar Washington Hospital Center, is all but a stranger to the effects of
gun violence. Growing up in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, she was one of eight siblings, and her
father loved to hunt. She stated that she had been around guns all of her life, not only at home,
but throughout her community. While she does believe that something needs to be done about
the gun laws, and she would support them, she also believes it is not the sole answer. This is
coming from a doctor, who sees the awful, tragic effects of gunshot wounds every single day. As
the chief medical officer, she is in charge of over 6,000 staff members. During a news brief
following a shooting at a Navy yard, her sincere though trajectory had inadvertently made her a
local and national celebrity. She said; Put my trauma center out of business.... I would like to not
be an expert on gunshots. During a radio broadcast interview of Senator Richard Durbin, D=Ill,
Scott Simon, a radio host of Weekend Edition Saturday, for National Public Radio, which is based
out of Washington D.C., asks the Senator if he supports stricter gun laws, and if his party is
planning to vote on them. He stated that after the tragedy in Newtown, some

Drinking Tea History
The ART of Drinking Tea
Tea and its History
A cup of tea is a vital part of everyday life for the majority of people all over the world. In fact, tea
is so integral to may people s routine that it is very difficult to imagine life without it. Imagine
going to a Chinese restaurant and ordering dim sum without serving the hot tea that goes along with
it. But this common practice was not that enjoyed by the majority before. Tea was a luxury
product that only the rich could afford, and at one time there was a discussion if it is good or bad
for ones health. It was over the course of several hundred years that tea gained its place as a
familiar drink among many household. Also, its health giving properties were relatively ... Show

Now many companies saw the market for people enjoying the benefits of drinking tea and gave
birth to bottled tea in the market.
Different cultures may practice different art of drinking tea. Now we may say that like juice and
coffee, tea has become an everyday drink for everybody enjoying not only as refreshment but also
as a supplementary drink that provides health benefits as well.
Benefits of Drinking Tea
Studies that support the health benefits of drinking tea have been very adamant all over the
world. There s no denying that a daily pot of tea does the body good. Even Though researchers can
t quite agree on every aspect, the fact is that a few cups a day will do its best to protect us from
heart disease, a stroke, cancer and more.
Tea contains high levels of antioxidants that help the body prevent harming other cells on board.
Antioxidants are disease preemptors ion finest form. Tea also contains fluoride which benefits our
teeth and has bacteria killing properties which helps control bad breath and the formation of plaque.
Although many of dentists agree, tea still marks teeth with stains but no permanent damage for
drinkers.
Below are some of the testimonies of people who have studied and believed the good effects of tea:
* Tea consumption may help heart disease patients. (the Journal of the American Heart Association,
2001) * Green tea could help stem esophageal

Cyytoprotective Role Of DJ-1, Mitophagy And Cell Death
DJ 1 protects against mtDNA damage, mitophagy and cell death. DJ 1 is a multifunctional
protein that protects cells from oxidative stress via several molecular processes including
regulating gene transcription, mediating cell signal transduction pathways, stabilizing
cytoprotective proteins and scavenging ROS (3). DJ 1 is expressed in human primary alveolar
type II cells (preliminary data) and we have recently postulated that plays a role in the antioxidant
defense system in the lung (REF). The importance of DJ 1 can be supported by several
observations. First, DJ 1 mutations are pathogenic (4), second, oxidation of cysteine and
methionine residues within DJ 1 was reported as a sensor of its activity (5) and third, the novel

Research Plan
Preliminary Results
Isolation of human primary ATII cells.
We will isolate ATII cells from de identified control organ donors whose lungs were not suitable
for transplantation and donated for medical research through Temple Biobank in collaboration with
Dr. Gerard Criner (Temple University, letter attached) as we previously described (7, 9, 10). For
ATII cellisolation, we used magnetic microbeads (Miltenyi, Biotec Inc.) and epithelial cell
adhesion molecule (Ep CAM) positive selection. Purified ATII cells display about 90% purity as
detected by staining with pro surfactant protein C (proSP C) and ATII280, which are specific ATII
cell markers (Fig. 2). In this grant proposal, we plan to use ATII cells isolated from at least 12 non
smoker and 12 smoker control lung donors and 12 patients with emphysema (GOLD IV). Lung
tissue from individuals with this disease will be obtained in collaboration with Dr. Criner.
DJ 1 Cys106 SO3 in patients with emphysema. Initial proof of concept studies were performed in
ATII cells obtained from patients with emphysema in comparison with control lung donors. We
found high expression of DJ 1 Cys106 SO3 in ATII cells obtained from individuals with this disease
using a specific DJ 1 antibody (AbDSerotec; Fig. 3). The presence of this DJ 1 form was
confirmed by mass spectrometry analysis; and we did not find this modification in control ATII

Ele Wiesel Nobel Peace Prize Acceptance Speech
January 30, 1933 forever marks the beginning of the Holocaust, one of the most horrifying and
cruel events in the history of the world. It was the mass genocide of millions of innocent jews, gays,
Jehovah Witnesses, gypsies, and countless others. After the Holocaust, it is clear to society that we,
as people, cannot stand by and watch as other human beings suffer from cruel acts in which they
have no ability to defend themselves. In modern day, it seems as though ethnic cleansing is
becoming less common, however, there are still many instances of it occurring around the world. In
fact, the country of Myanmar is currently attempting to deprive its Rohingya citizens of their basic
rights and exterminate them from the population.
There were many things to be learned from the Holocaust, one of the most important including
apathy toward discrimination and ethnic cleansing. In Elie Wiesel s Nobel Peace Prize Acceptance
Speech about his experienced imprisonment in concentration camps, he explained that people must
always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the
tormentor, never the tormented . According to Wiesel, someone who stands by and does nothing
while another person suffers is just as guilty as the offender. Additionally, he states in his speech
The Perils of Indifference that, Indifference reduces the other to an abstraction . A lack of
compassion toward the victims of cruel treatment shows that they are of no concern. Prisoners

Ionic Bond Lab
Ionic bonds form by the nature of the atoms themselves. When the atoms chemically combine
together, the atoms create a compound that has different properties. The electronegativity between
the atoms in the bond determines what type it is. Atoms with higher electronegativity hold atoms
more tightly than those with a lower electronegativity. Therefore, when two elements bond, they
must fill each others orbitals to create a stable energy electronconfiguration. Each will have eight
electrons in their outer energy. The solubility and bond type lab was to use the compounds
solubility to predict the type of bond it contains. To determine so, I added sodium chloride to water
in a test tube and some of it dissolved. When the sodium chloride was put... Show more content on

Anne Bradstreet And Contemplations
When I read both Anne Bradstreet s poems, The Prologue and Contemplations I realized that she
is an excellent poet. Her ability to make you feel like you are there experiencing the situation
with her. In contemplations she says, Some time now past in the autumnal tide...The trees all
richly clad, yet void of pride, were gilded o er by rich golden head. Their leaves and fruits seemed
painted, but was true, of green, of red, of yellow, mixed hue; Rapt were my senses at this
delectable view. (Bradstreet p.112) I believe the intended audience for these poems were her male
critics who believed woman were too inferior to be poets. She did not want to outdo male poets
even though she showed she could. In fact, all she wanted was woman to be recognized as poets....

Child Maltreatment And Its Effects On Children
Introduction
Of all the reported American child maltreatment in 2013, 79.5% of victims experienced neglect,
more than four times the victims that were physically abused (U.S. Department of Health and
Human Services, 2013). Neglect is one of the most common forms of child maltreatment and
public awareness of this problem was raised in the 1960s by the work of C. Henry Page 1 of
1Kempe which described the battered child syndrome. It was only then that child maltreatment was
regarded as a serious social problem. Since then, a new field has grown, with professionals
researching to understand the problem and effective interventions needed and yet, neglect is still
often given less attention than child physical and sexual abuse. The signs of neglect are usually
less visible than the physical signs of abuse but it is just as detrimental to the general early
development of children as abuse. By examining the consequences of neglect in children on their
cognitive development, the problem can be slowly addressed and resolved to a certain extent. Not
only does it affect cognitive, language and emotional development in children, it can also result in
long term consequences such as poor academic performance and attachment problems. However,
research has shown that an enriching environment given to the children once they are out of an
environment of neglect can promote resilience which to a certain extent can recover the effects of
neglect on various aspects of development.

At these camps, the vast majority of the female population will be deliberately starved to death
[...] A few of them would be spared, however, for the sake of reproduction. These women would
be kept and bred in secret labs . If you Google Elliot Rodgers, majority of the articles will detract
from the real issue, instead focusing on how Rodger s might have had Asperger syndrome, and
how this was the real cause of the premeditated murders. Obviously though, violent misogyny is
not a symptom of mental illness. So it literally makes no sense to deny that systematic misogyny
had anything to do with Elliot Rodger s actions despite his explicit statements pointing out that it
did. His emphasis on how unacceptable it is for himself to be a virgin at 22 years old reveals
how bizarrely hyper sexualized American society is in comparison to other countries. In Asian
or Africa 22 is a normal age to still be a virgin. Only in America is a young dude who has not
scored pussy considered inadequate in the social rankings until he s no longer a virgin. Only in
America does it this urge a man to go on a shooting rampage just because he felt as if he didn t

basics of masculinity taught and deeply rooted into the men and boys in our culture are eliciting
patriarchal violence, because if they did it would force them to change the way they think about

A Study On Common Cancer Treatments Essay
BACKGROUND Common cancer treatments such as anthracyclines and trastuzumab are
associated with an increased risk of cardiotoxicity, which is responsible for significant mortality and
morbidity in cancer survivors.[1, 2] Assessment of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) has
been, and continues to be the most widely used method for cardiotoxicity risk assessment prior to,
surveillance during, and surveillance after administration of potentially cardiotoxic cancer
treatment.[3] Since the 1970s,[4] multiple gated acquisition scanning (MUGA) has been the
preferred imaging modality for baseline and serial assessment of LVEF for cardiotoxicity. There is
concern that contemporary gamma cameras may not allow optimal patient positioning for LVEF
assessments.[3] Thus, it is possible that contemporary MUGA in cancer patients may not provide
accurate estimates of LVEFs. Inaccurate LVEF assessment may carry significant implications for
the care of cancer patients receiving potentially cardiotoxic treatment since LVEFs play an
important role in decisions to start, continue, hold or stop such treatment. The objective of this
study was to compare the accuracy of LVEFs obtained by contemporary clinical MUGA in
consecutive patients with cancer with reference LVEFs from cardiovascular magnetic resonance
imaging (CMR), the gold standard technique for assessment of left ventricular volumes and systolic
function.[5] METHODS Patients and data collection The study sample consisted of

Using a pensive and sorrowful tone, Bronte portrays her sadness for a love cut short by her death,
and her regret that she is forgetting her memories of her lover. Helena complements this with the
emotional lyric My Chemical Romance s singer, Gerard Way, wrote about the painful passing of
his beloved grandmother whilst he was on tour, and how he felt he neglected her due to his
travels. Obviously, as this song was written about his grandmothers passing, the theme is death.
This is supported by the line where it says and like a blade you stain, well I ve been holding on
tonight , which is a metaphor for how the death of his grandmother has stained his heart,
(possibly meaning he is cut up about her death),he can t forget her nor let go of his guilt for
leaving her before she died. Both Helena and Remembrance complement each other due to the
fact that they both speak of a lifetime terminated too early. The tone of Helena is mournful but
angry, perhaps at himself for not being there when he lost a love one, one could even say fervent
and regretful, for example, when he says you are the very hurt you sold which reflects his hurting
and how he was angry towards others because he was angry with himself, we are so far from you
which depicts his realisation that he will never see his grandmother again, and every star fall
brought you to tears again , which tells of how every little thing that reminded him of her brought
him to grief. Both poems

5. Poorly Written Plan
This ranks up there with sloppy. When you submit a plan, it does not need to be textbook perfect
English. Investors understand that business plans are not written by English professors. The sort
of misspellings that should be caught in a spell check are unforgivable. It shows a tremendous
lack of effort if a business plan isn t even spell checked.
Is the plan clearly written? When an investor reads a plan, is it clear enough to make sense
quickly? Investors don t want to de code a business plan. They just want to read it. Poor grammar,
poor word choice, wrong words, and too many proofreading errors make a business plan too much
of a chore to get through. It gets the plan tossed into the reject pile quickly.

Role Of The Nurse During Safeguarding Individuals That Are...
In this assignment my aim is to discuss and evaluate the role of the nurse in safeguarding
individuals that are at risk of undergoing female genital mutilation (FGM). My presentation
group decided on the subject matter as it was felt that it was being reported in the national press
and therefore was a current issue. There also has been recent updates, recommendations and
legislation. The essay will identify a specific policy, procedure or support mechanism that is in
place to help safeguard individuals that are at risk of FGM and apply it to practice. After this I will
reflect upon what I have learnt from the module safeguarding vulnerable groups. I will then use this
reflection to help influence my future safeguarding practice as a nurse.
The world health organization defines FGM as all procedures that involve partial or total removal
of the external female genitalia, or other injury to the female genital organs for non medical reasons
. (World Health Organisation 2016) FGM is a tradition deeply rooted and practiced in Africa, Asia
and the middle east by specific ethnic groups. It is for the most part performed on children and as
such is recognised as a violation of human rights and the rights of a child. (Creighton, 2015)

Offensive Speech
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has a priority to protect all American citizens from offensive

into terrorism acts. All and sundry have the right to free speech as stated in the First Amendment of

The federal government s perception of offensive speech has evolved over the years, for instance,
Manet s Olympia art masterpiece was considered offensive in the Nineteenth Century but in present

resources on re election. This causes the Congress to focus on the desires and needs of their
constituents while potentially ignoring necessary projects and laws that could benefit the entire
nation. This, in effect, results in wasted funding and an inefficient Congress. I am a strong
believer that the members of Congress need to focus on the national issues rather than local issues
that dictate re election. The state and local governments are in place to pass laws and ensure that
the local communities are being represented in a correct manner. Members of Congress focusing
on these local issues drives the need for pork barreling. There are potential... Show more content on

These members of Congress are focused on spending federal funding on companies or people that
would result in benefiting themselves. The members of Congress that stay within the confines of
Congress for decades may be involved with corruption with no recourse for their actions. This is
because the incumbent party has an advantage over the rivaling party on the premise that they are
already in office. One of the main examples of this can be seen in the Keating Five in the late 1980
s. Five senators, who were given donations by Charles Keating, influenced a regulatory agency on
behalf of Keating s savings and loan institution, which was under investigation (Otteson 1991).
These senators were dealt no punishment, while two of the senators were actually re elected. This
not only displays the potential corruption, but also shows how strong the incumbent party is when
facing elections. If term limits were enacted, these men would have not been able to be re elected
and new senators could have taken their positions. . This ability for change in the members of
Congress can bring about new ideals and outlooks onto common issues that the country faces
today. In addition to the new ideals, the changing of Congress will allow for the constituents to
develop more of an interest in the government affairs. With new candidates, people will be forced

observations were done on April 9th at the same high school. The focus for this paper was the

different reading materials but also in different parts of their unit plan. Mr. M s class was just
beginning their unit plan on the novelThe Catcher in the Rye while Mrs. L s class was finishing up
their unit plan on the novel The Scarlett Letter. Both classrooms had different, specific learning
goals, activities, and assessments. Mr. M s lesson was meant to introduce students to the novel
The Catcher in the Rye and get them to start working on their culminating journal project. One
learning goal for the lesson can be found in the AIM, How can observing our surroundings help us
to understand our place in the world . One way Mr. M addressed this learning goal was through the
DONOW, by having the students observe their surroundings and write about what they observed,
the students become more aware of their surroundings. This not only helps them understand and
connect with the main character Holden, but also helps them discover more about themselves as a
person and understand their place in the world . I spoke with Mr. M after class about the lesson

A Comparison Of Disney World And Adventureland
Compare Contrast Paper Mateah Reisdorf As everyone always says, Disney World is the
happiest place on earth, but for Iowans we have Adventureland, where we are sure to have a fun
filled day. To us Iowans , Disney World and Adventure are the two best theme parks we ve ever
known of! Both theme parks are full of happiness, good food and exciting rides, although Disney
World and Adventureland have lots of differences and yet some similarities in hand. In this paper I
am going to explain and list off the vast similarities and differences of Disney World and
Adventureland! To start off, one major similarity is both Disney World and Adventureland have
specific characters that build the atmosphere of their theme parks. For example, Disney World has;
Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Donald and Daisy Duck, Cinderella, Snow White, Belle and
many more beloved Disney characters! As for Adventureland has a well known character, the Saint
Bernard dog. All the characters that live in their theme park attract children s attention very easily.
Children are quick to recognize Disney Worlds characters from TV shows they have watched on
Disney Channel. The Saint Bernard at Adventureland is a welcoming, fun character to
Adventureland, which attracts thousands of tourists. Both theme park s characters endow the same
qualities and draw vast amounts of tourist to both of their theme parks! Also, having enough money

stakeholders advocating to governmentofficials on issues that affect both themselves and society as
a whole.
Why lobbying matters? Second Slide
Every day, legislators and decision makers meet with a variety of stakeholders, all of whom are
convening to raise awareness of their issues, sharing their opinions and ideas on the government s
agenda, and driving change in public policy. This may seem like a low priority for some
organizations, particularly given limited resources and time constraints. However, more regulation
is needed before the drone industry can truly thrive here in North Dakota and across our nation. ...

Pseudonymity In The Book Of Daniel
Pseudonymity is the method of producing new compositions in the name of a famous deceased
author (Harris, 2014, p.2). This particular method was well known in the Hellenistic Jewish
community and among early Christian writers. Specifically, during 200 BCE to 200 CE, the
Jewish writers produced numerous books that were accredited to respected biblical figures that
included Daniel, Enoch, Noah, Solomon, and a host of others (Harris, 2014, p.387). Interestingly,
some of the books such as Book of Daniel were received into the Hebrew Biblecanon, while others
such as Enoch were not. Also, other writings that included the Wisdom of Solomon, Baruch, and
the apocalyptic 2 Esdras, were considered as deuterocanonical, a representation of the Old

ingredients. She strongly believed that the use of all natural chocolate, cream, and butter made
the difference in her chocolates, so only the finest ingredients were used. Preservatives were not
added to the candies, thereby enhancing the high quality taste. To control the quality, candies
were made at the single manufacturing location. Candies were made by hand, the old fashioned

The Importance of North Dakota History
Throughout the streets of Portland stands the walls of a house that saw some of North Dakota s

Fladeland was born in Winona, Minnesota in 1861 and moved to Portland, North Dakota as a

town. After moving to North Dakota, the pharmacist ended up owning drug stores in Sutton,

I ve lived in Mayville for the last eight months, and I ve learned more history about this community

never would have opened my mind to learning about the important past events and the people who

Baz Luhrmann s Production of Romeo and Juliet
Romeo seems like a passionate, romantic and excitable young man. He seems to like the idea of
being in love, although I would suggest the feelings he has for Juliet begin only as infatuation and
grow throughout the balcony scene.
In the beginning of the scene Romeo is portrayed as determined, wary and possibly a little
frightened as he knocks over furniture and scrambles up the trellis. His eyes are continuously
darting around and you get a sense of desperation because he is panting. When he climbs the trellis
in the hope of seeing Juliet but discovers the nurse instead, his facial expression turns from one of

Baz Luhrmann Production
1(ii) Dramatic Devices
In the beginning of the scene we see Romeo climbing the orchard wall in complete darkness, but
when he enters the swimming pool area the fairy lights illuminate the immediate vicinity, coupled
with the floral trellis this makes the setting quite romantic.
You get a sense of the era because the house is traditional in style, from the authentic continental
windows to the ageing balusters on the balcony. The size of the house, together with the presence of
a swimming pool gives the impression that Juliet comes from a very affluent background.
The costumes seem appropriate for the period; Juliet wears a simple plain white dress, possibly
portraying virginity and virtuosity and Romeo wears the costume of a knight, which could signify
valour and gallantry. In contrast we see the security guard sporting a very modern outfit complete
with baseball cap, earpiece and headset.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Pebble Bed Reactor
1 Introduction One of the major challenges of the reintroduction of nuclear energy into the world
energy mix is the development of a nuclear power plant that is competitive with other energy
alternatives, such as natural gas, oil or coal. The environmental imperative of nuclear energy is
obvious. This report aims to provide an overview of the advantages and disadvantages of the pebble
bed reactor. The pebble bed reactor (PBR) is a graphite moderated, gas cooled nuclear reactor. It is
a type of very high temperature reactor, one of the six classes of nuclear reactorsin the Generation
IV initiative.
2 Design of a PBR The basic design of pebble bed reactors features spherical fuel elements called
pebbles. These contain a large amount of micro fuel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first is the very low power density of the reactor, which means that the amount of energy and
heat produced is volumetrically low and that there are natural mechanisms such as conductive
and radiative heat transfer that will remove the heat, even if no convective core cooling is
provided. For example, in a modular high temperature gas reactor, safety is ensured against the
worst case accident (loss of coolant with all rods out), by limiting the power density to
approximately 6 MW/m3 and the overall core size (resulting in an overall thermal power of 200
MW). Based on these design parameters, the highest temperature the fuel would achieve is
approximately 1600_ C, whereas it takes temperatures of approximately 2000_ C in order for a
pebble to break down. The second principle is that the silicon carbide, which forms the tiny
containment for each of the fuel particles in a pebble, needs to be of sufficient quality so that it
can retain the fission products. In tests performed to date on fuel reliability, it has been shown that
microspheres can be routinely manufactured with initial defects of less than 1 in 10,000. In safety
analyses, it is assumed therefore that 1 in 10,000 of these microspheres has a defect that would be

Essay about How Women are Represented in Science Fiction...
How Women are Represented in Science Fiction Films Today
Science fiction films have changed a lot since the days of rubber monsters and fake blood. This
is not only because of the advance in technology but also in the brave character choices directors
of films are now taking. A prime example of this can be seen in T T2 in regards to the character of
Sarah Connor.
The representation of women in Science fiction films has changed dramatically the more traditional
feminine role. Representation is the act of representing, or the state of being represented. Fore
instance, something that represents an image or likeness of something. An example of this in T2 is
Sarah Connor who is represented as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As mentioned Terminator 2 has all of these factors. It is a typical science fiction filmwith a twist as
there s quite a bit of emotion involved. For example, the relationship between John and his mother
and also John and the Terminator. Moreover it is an action and a thriller too, so it appeals to
various people. The story consists of a shape shifting cyborg which is sent back from the future to
kill John Connor before he can grow up to lead the resistance. John from the future, sends a
protector too, he is programmed to do whatever he can to make sure young John isn t killed or
harmed in any way.
Science fiction movies are seen as a brilliant depiction of how life could become. When looking
at modern films such as T2 it is a breath of fresh air to see women depicted in such a masculine
way. No sappy women enter the screen in some sci fi thrillers there is only strong, clever and
dominant women who know how to defend themselves and others.
Sarah Connor had an important role in T2, which impacted and impressed the audience, and
allowed the creators of the film to use her and not a male. Her central role in the narrative was
strong and very active throughout and her masculinity grew along with her active character.
When looking at the genre of science fiction

The Island Of The Galapagos Archipeggio
Isabela Island, the largest island of the GalГЎpagos archipeggio, seemed to rise straight out of the

crabs rested on the surface, while blue footed boobies gracefully dived into the water to catch

panga, bobbing in the water. Our guide, Christina, enthusiastically shared her knowledge of these
animals to my family. This wildlife viewing boat ride was our plan for the afternoon. But things

The sun was starting to set in the west, over the Bolivar Channel. The sea seemed calm, but a bird

The Arnolfini Portrait
The Arnolfini Portrait is a very cleverly composed single picture story. Various singular objects,
depicted within the image, all of which contain an individual meaning/symbol. For example, the
oranges within the painting display the couple s wealth, for such a fruit would have to been
imported during the times the wedding took place and would cost a small fortune to purchase.
Two pairs of wooden shoes can also be seen in the image, one a bright ruby red the same as that
of the bedding and couch symbolizing fertility, the other plain and wooden representing
faithfulness. Both, bride and groom, depicted can be seen with pale skin draped in lavish furs, the
bride also displaying a high forehead and wrapped in a blue underdress. This not only

Spiritual Departure
On a late Friday evening kids are arriving at a building that nobody feels comfortable about
entering. Many are thinking that we came to SEARCH our spiritual retreat, why are we not in a
church and the church is across the street. As Elaiza was entering the building through the doors
that were covered in newspaper she was creeped out and did not want to stay here. When she got
inside it looked like an old basketball court and it was full of religious statues. She was looking
around and something touched her deep down inside, it felt like all of her problems were gone
and open to try new things . The two females that were checking her in were so nice and made
her feel welcomed, they asked for her phone and told her where she would be sleeping... Show more

She knew that she was finally going to see her family and that made her happy, but she loved
everything at SEARCH. The helpers made them breakfast and gave each and everyone one of
the participants a gift they made for them. After this the participants and the helpers went to the
room that has couches and everyone had to go to the front of the room and they would get a
new nickname. Elaiza got the nickname Amor Incondicional because of how kind her heart is
and how much love she seems to show for others. They joined into one last group prayer and
headed off to the church that was across the parking lot. Elaiza saw her family and she was
happy to see them because it seemed like forever and she didn t have her phone to talk them.
They were happy to see and she was happy to, but she just wanted to tell them about her
experience right away. They went to church sang Our God is an awesome God we praise. From
heavens above with wisdom, power, and love our God is an awesome God. for their parents and
went up to the front of the church and said who they are and where they were fun. When mass
was over they went back to the building to collect their items to go home. Elaiza didn t want to
say goodbye because she knew that she would cry. She added everyone on Snapchat,Facebook,
and gave everyone hugs and thanked them for the best experience ever. Elaiza left and hoped one
day she can come

How Did Jp Morgan Help The Government Out Of The Panic Of...
In the 1890 s, J.P Morgan was famous for helping the government out of the Panic of 1893.
While doing this, he made a lot of extra money in the process. This caused a lot of negative
controversy in the public, and the people began to doubt the government s liability. From the book
Grover Cleveland, a Study of Courage, the author comments, hard handed Americans believed that
Cleveland... had sold the credit of the republic to the Morgans... and had pocketed a share of the
price. Their vituperative anger was additional evidence of a sectional and class bitterness (Nevins
665). This shows the side of the story from the perspective of an American citizen. On top of that,
Morgan refused to tell the public how much money he made from helping the... Show more content

What Morgan was doing was using his power to gain control of all railways and, this resulted in
stopping other companies from trading along these railroads. This made companies very upset,
and that the fact that this entire incident was illegal forced Morgan to close one of his
companies down. As a middle class citizen, this would make you wary of all of Morgan s other
monopolies also, because if he almost got away with one illegal act, what else could he do? On
another note, Morgan dominated certain insurance companies, and was again using his power
and wealth to end up making the people pay for his expenses. In an article discussing this,
They[Morgan s company] had $50 million a year to invest money given by ordinary people for
their insurance policies . This is just another example of how J.P Morgan used other people s
money for his own self. If you begin to think in the public mindset, the phrase, They control the
people through the people s own money , begins to make sense. This all connects to a political
cartoon showing Morgan controlling a machine labeled Wall Street that was controlling the people
s money and forcing an American citizen to work for the company at the same time. Overall,
Morgan used tactics that were only for himself, and negatively impacted society.

Characteristics Of Caring
There was a time in my life that my friend s boyfriend broke up with her, she needed a friend that
would stay with her the whole time she needed it and I was that friend. I stayed with her gave
her hugs and tissues when needed. She could have called any other friend of hers, but she
decided to call me and I feel that she appreciates me more now than she did before. After that day
I think she has more trust in me. By staying with her I am showing that I am caring. Caring can
be performed in many different ways, like helping someone with their homework, or walking
with someone that needs a friend. The characters Madeline from Everything Everything and
Marin from Geraldo no Last Name are caring to others because they both care for someone that
they hardly even know. First off Madeline from Everything Everything is caring for others. One
example is That night I only IM with him until 2 A.M. instead of 3 A.M. (Yoon 101). This shows
that she talks to him about his day and if he had a bad day she will. If he has a problem, then he
can talk to her and she will be there. She is caring because she helps him with life problems
because she has all the time in the world to help him with all his problems and think of an
answer to give him. Another example of Madeline is caring is I don t see what happens not
because I pull away from my mom and I m running (Yoon 135). This shows that she is caring by
saying that she will basically risk everything for him if he needs her. She is

Equine Therapy For Children With Disabilities
Furthermore, research is demonstrating the promise that equine therapy holds for children with
intellectual disabilities. When compared to traditional intervention methods, equine therapy is a bit
more cost effective, meaning more families can afford equine therapy. With this in mind, it shows
promise of becoming a standard form of early intervention for individuals with disabilities (Holmes
et. al. 120). As the childages, research is showing more and more support for equine therapy. It was
mentioned previously how equine therapy can help a child in the classroom. Research shows that
equine therapy can help a child in nearly every aspect of his or her life. Equine therapy proved in
one study that it helps children with intellectual disabilities with their balance, thanks to the
stimulating movements of the horse(Biery et. al. 1). Motor skills have improved after just a few
sessions in equine therapy, whether it be riding or hippotherapy (Snider et. al. 1). In addition,
researchers have found that social skills have improved with equine therapy (Bass, Dunchowny
llabre 1266). The reason for the improvement in social skills is because in therapeutic riding
lessons, children are given the chance to interact with other individuals who are similar to them.
This creates a bond between the students. Individuals in hippotherapy gain social skills because of
the interactions they have with a therapist, and the bonds formed with the horse. All of these
researchers have

  • 2. Descriptive Essay Pizza The wait was around five minutes, which was reasonable, considering how crowded the inside looked. Every table was filled up. Eventually, I am seated close to the entrance. I immediately am intrigued over how diverse the menu is. At first, the sandwiches caught my eye. I noticed the Chicken Tender Melt, with tenders served on grilled Texas Toast with American cheese , bacon, beer braised onions, BBQ sauce, and ranch. Or I could get the Chicken Bacon Swiss, which had a grilled chicken breast topped with crisp bacon, melted Swiss cheese, honey mustard, and mayonnaise on a grilled marble rye bread. All the sandwiches were affordable at around $12 or $13. Then I glanced at the Hand Cut Signature Steak Section. The cheapest one at $24 was the Medora Sirloin, a 10 ounce sirloin topped with roasted garlic butter. The most expensive steak was called the Bakken at $33. This one was a 22 ounce Ribeye topped with roasted garlic butter. I looked in my wallet. Sadly, I didn t have enough money to buy one of these steaks, which was disappointing. Then I was debating on whether to choose a pizza or a burger. I asked the waiter, What is the most popular pizza? The most popular one would be the Players Taco Pizza, he replied. I quickly looked at what was in it. House prepared taco meat, tomatoes, red onions, black olives, mozzarella, and cheddar jack cheese topped with taco sauce. It also included Baja lettuce and tri colored nacho chips. A small was priced at $10 and the large ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Native American Cultural Beliefs To understand why they celebrate, you have to look into their past to see who they are, where they ve been. To see what it s like dancing in moccasins. Each nation has a different story, but you might find that collectively, they celebrate the preservation of a way of life as much as life itself. To make sense of that, Channel Nine, Harmony Alliance, KCP L, the Anti Defamation League, McDonald s, and IBM went to the Kickapoo Reservation to talk to Paul Guiseppe, a tribal elder who is well respected because he has seen a lot. Stated, at one time, this whole continent, the United States, was our country. It was taken away from us. We was forced to go on. Like my people, they had come from round the Great Lakes. The connection I can make between the film and the Medicine PPT, is on slide 22. Where it talks about The Green Corn Festival had been revitalized by Emma Baker and was the annual focus of tribal activity in Gladys s youth (52). At that celebration, those who held a special place in the tribal community pounded yokeag. They connected each generation of Mohegans with ancestors who had done the same act for that same reason for thousands of years (52). The festival of corn requires a full four seasons of preparation. Yokeag is dried, while Mohegans sew piles of ribbons, feathers, fringe, and beads into regalia (54). I make these two connections because Green Corn Festival can be related to the Moccasins dancing. • 4. Ego Theory and Bundle Theory Essay Intro to Philosophy Ego Theory and Bundle Theory Derek Parfit s views on personal identity and the Ego and Bundle Theory are all summarized in his article Divided Minds and the Nature of Persons . In his article, Parfit explains the distinction between Ego theory and Bundle theory and provides several arguments against Ego Theory. Although it proves to be very difficult to believe the Bundle Theory, Parfit s critique is convincing and well thought out. In order to defend the Bundle Theory of personal identity Parfit begins to describe it and differentiates it from Ego Theory. Parfit states that there are two theories about what persons are or what a person s personal identity really is. According to Ego Theory, each person has an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Parfit asks if that copy is still you or has the real you actually died? He then asks; what if only 1% of your cells were replaced? Many would say if only 1% were replaced, the person would still be you but at what percentage of cells is the new being no longer you? Parfit argues that the question is irrelevant and that these are not here two different possibilities, one of which must be true. These are merely two different descriptions of the very same course of events. To further support the bundle theory, Parfit references split brain cases. A split brain case is what happens when the corpus callosum connecting the two hemispheres of the brain is severed to some degree in order to treat severe epilepsy. A person with a split brain shows to have two separate streams of consciousness. Ego Theory would argue that there are two separate egos but only one person. When separating ego from person does Ego Theory still hold valid? Parfit and the Bundle Theory state that this is an example of a different awareness of events occurring at the same time, not different egos. According to Parfit there is no person involved. Parfit s distinction between Ego theory and Bundle Theory and his arguments against Ego theory are convincing. He uses many example to help support his claim. Both his thought experiment and the split brain cases support the idea of bundle theory and disprove the more common Ego ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I began this dissection by finding the endocrine organs that are located in the area of throat. These organs were the thyroid and thymus. The thyroid s responsibility is to produce amino acids that will help to regulate metabolism. The shape of the thyroidis oval like, and has a dark brown tint. The second endocrine organ found in the throat is the thymus. The thymus functions to provide immunity against diseases. It has a pink appearance, and is long in length. The first function is to control the body s blood sugar level. The second function is to secrete insulin and glucagon. Lastly, I studied the testes of the fetal pig, which I found at the end of the scrotum under the skin. The teste are a key part in the process of secreting testosterone. After completing this section I began to dissect the last system of the pig. The final system of the body I examined was the digestive system. This is known to be one of the most interesting areas of the body because of the many functions the system is responsible for. This system is also home to several major organs. One major organ is the salivary gland. This gland is in the lower part of the face, as well as the side of the face under the ear along the jaw line. The key function is the gland s ability to produce saliva. These glands are light pink, and have a few possible shapes and sizes. Following the gland, I began to take a look at the pharynx. • 7. The Importance Of Creationism In Schools Creationism does not explain how the earth was created, therefore it should not be taught as a science and should not be taught in schools. My thesis is important, because schools are trying to stop teaching evolution because they believe it is not the way life on earth started. The teaching of evolution in schools is important, because it teaches students the correct reason for how life on earth started. The articles that I collected for my research, where academic journals from the library data base and had a stand point towards science. My paper will give the reader a broader view point on why creationismshould not be taught in schools and how evolutionshould remain in schools. Creationism has been a controversial topic in our school systems and schools in some states are fighting to have it taught instead of evolution as a science. Creationism is the belief that all living organisms originated from a biblical process instead of evolution. We will never really know how the earth was created, but by the use of science, we can get a better understanding of it. Therefore creationism should not be taught as a science and should not be taught in school. The teachers are the people that have to deal with this topic the most because of all the pressure they get from school administrators, parents and the community. Some science teachers have been told not to teach about evolution, but they did it nevertheless. One of the most famous cases was the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

DJ 1 is a multifunctional protein that protects cells from oxidative stress via several molecular processes including regulating gene transcription, mediating cell signal transduction pathways, stabilizing cytoprotective proteins and scavenging ROS (3). DJ 1 is expressed in human primary alveolar type II cells (preliminary data) and we have recently postulated that plays a role in the antioxidant defense system in the lung (REF). The importance of DJ 1 can be supported by several observations. First, DJ 1 mutations are pathogenic (4), second, oxidation of cysteine and methionine residues within DJ 1 was reported as a sensor of its activity (5) and third, the novel oxidized... • 11. Ele Wiesel Nobel Peace Prize Acceptance Speech January 30, 1933 forever marks the beginning of the Holocaust, one of the most horrifying and cruel events in the history of the world. It was the mass genocide of millions of innocent jews, gays, Jehovah Witnesses, gypsies, and countless others. After the Holocaust, it is clear to society that we, as people, cannot stand by and watch as other human beings suffer from cruel acts in which they have no ability to defend themselves. In modern day, it seems as though ethnic cleansing is becoming less common, however, there are still many instances of it occurring around the world. In fact, the country of Myanmar is currently attempting to deprive its Rohingya citizens of their basic rights and exterminate them from the population. There were many things to be learned from the Holocaust, one of the most important including apathy toward discrimination and ethnic cleansing. In Elie Wiesel s Nobel Peace Prize Acceptance Speech about his experienced imprisonment in concentration camps, he explained that people must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented . According to Wiesel, someone who stands by and does nothing while another person suffers is just as guilty as the offender. • 12. Ionic Bond Lab Ionic bonds form by the nature of the atoms themselves. When the atoms chemically combine together, the atoms create a compound that has different properties. The electronegativity between the atoms in the bond determines what type it is. Atoms with higher electronegativity hold atoms more tightly than those with a lower electronegativity. Therefore, when two elements bond, they must fill each others orbitals to create a stable energy electronconfiguration. Each will have eight electrons in their outer energy. The solubility and bond type lab was to use the compounds solubility to predict the type of bond it contains. • 14. Child Maltreatment And Its Effects On Children Introduction Of all the reported American child maltreatment in 2013, 79.5% of victims experienced neglect, more than four times the victims that were physically abused (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2013). Neglect is one of the most common forms of child maltreatment and public awareness of this problem was raised in the 1960s by the work of C. Henry Page 1 of 1Kempe which described the battered child syndrome. It was only then that child maltreatment was regarded as a serious social problem. Since then, a new field has grown, with professionals researching to understand the problem and effective interventions needed and yet, neglect is still often given less attention than child physical and sexual abuse. The signs of neglect are usually less visible than the physical signs of abuse but it is just as detrimental to the general early development of children as abuse. By examining the consequences of neglect in children on their cognitive development, the problem can be slowly addressed and resolved to a certain extent. Not only does it affect cognitive, language and emotional development in children, it can also result in long term consequences such as poor academic performance and attachment problems. However, research has shown that an enriching environment given to the children once they are out of an environment of neglect can promote resilience which to a certain extent can recover the effects of neglect on various aspects of development. His emphasis on how unacceptable it is for himself to be a virgin at 22 years old reveals how bizarrely hyper sexualized American society is in comparison to other countries. • 16. A Study On Common Cancer Treatments Essay BACKGROUND Common cancer treatments such as anthracyclines and trastuzumab are associated with an increased risk of cardiotoxicity, which is responsible for significant mortality and morbidity in cancer survivors.[1, 2] Assessment of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) has been, and continues to be the most widely used method for cardiotoxicity risk assessment prior to, surveillance during, and surveillance after administration of potentially cardiotoxic cancer treatment.[3] Since the 1970s,[4] multiple gated acquisition scanning (MUGA) has been the preferred imaging modality for baseline and serial assessment of LVEF for cardiotoxicity. There is concern that contemporary gamma cameras may not allow optimal patient positioning for LVEF assessments.[3] Thus, it is possible that contemporary MUGA in cancer patients may not provide accurate estimates of LVEFs. Inaccurate LVEF assessment may carry significant implications for the care of cancer patients receiving potentially cardiotoxic treatment since LVEFs play an important role in decisions to start, continue, hold or stop such treatment. The objective of this study was to compare the accuracy of LVEFs obtained by contemporary clinical MUGA in consecutive patients with cancer with reference LVEFs from cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (CMR), the gold standard technique for assessment of left ventricular volumes and systolic function.[5] METHODS Patients and data collection The study sample consisted of ... Using a pensive and sorrowful tone, Bronte portrays her sadness for a love cut short by her death, and her regret that she is forgetting her memories of her lover. Helena complements this with the emotional lyric My Chemical Romance s singer, Gerard Way, wrote about the painful passing of his beloved grandmother whilst he was on tour, and how he felt he neglected her due to his travels. Obviously, as this song was written about his grandmothers passing, the theme is death. This is supported by the line where it says and like a blade you stain, well I ve been holding on tonight , which is a metaphor for how the death of his grandmother has stained his heart, (possibly meaning he is cut up about her death),he can t forget her nor let go of his guilt for leaving her before she died. Both Helena and Remembrance complement each other due to the fact that they both speak of a lifetime terminated too early. The tone of Helena is mournful but angry, perhaps at himself for not being there when he lost a love one, one could even say fervent and regretful, for example, when he says you are the very hurt you sold which reflects his hurting and how he was angry towards others because he was angry with himself, we are so far from you which depicts his realisation that he will never see his grandmother again, and every star fall brought you to tears again , which tells of how every little thing that reminded him of her brought him to grief. My presentation group decided on the subject matter as it was felt that it was being reported in the national press and therefore was a current issue. There also has been recent updates, recommendations and legislation. The essay will identify a specific policy, procedure or support mechanism that is in place to help safeguard individuals that are at risk of FGM and apply it to practice. This causes the Congress to focus on the desires and needs of their constituents while potentially ignoring necessary projects and laws that could benefit the entire nation. This, in effect, results in wasted funding and an inefficient Congress. I am a strong believer that the members of Congress need to focus on the national issues rather than local issues that dictate re election. The state and local governments are in place to pass laws and ensure that the local communities are being represented in a correct manner. These members of Congress are focused on spending federal funding on companies or people that would result in benefiting themselves. The members of Congress that stay within the confines of Congress for decades may be involved with corruption with no recourse for their actions. This is because the incumbent party has an advantage over the rivaling party on the premise that they are already in office. One of the main examples of this can be seen in the Keating Five in the late 1980 s. Five senators, who were given donations by Charles Keating, influenced a regulatory agency on behalf of Keating s savings and loan institution, which was under investigation (Otteson 1991). These senators were dealt no punishment, while two of the senators were actually re elected. This not only displays the potential corruption, but also shows how strong the incumbent party is when facing elections. If term limits were enacted, these men would have not been able to be re elected and new senators could have taken their positions. . This ability for change in the members of Congress can bring about new ideals and outlooks onto common issues that the country faces today. In addition to the new ideals, the changing of Congress will allow for the constituents to develop more of an interest in the government affairs. Mr. M s lesson was meant to introduce students to the novel The Catcher in the Rye and get them to start working on their culminating journal project. One learning goal for the lesson can be found in the AIM, How can observing our surroundings help us to understand our place in the world . One way Mr. M addressed this learning goal was through the DONOW, by having the students observe their surroundings and write about what they observed, the students become more aware of their surroundings. The environmental imperative of nuclear energy is obvious. This report aims to provide an overview of the advantages and disadvantages of the pebble bed reactor. The pebble bed reactor (PBR) is a graphite moderated, gas cooled nuclear reactor. It is a type of very high temperature reactor, one of the six classes of nuclear reactorsin the Generation IV initiative. 2 Design of a PBR The basic design of pebble bed reactors features spherical fuel elements called pebbles. These contain a large amount of micro fuel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first is the very low power density of the reactor, which means that the amount of energy and heat produced is volumetrically low and that there are natural mechanisms such as conductive and radiative heat transfer that will remove the heat, even if no convective core cooling is provided. For example, in a modular high temperature gas reactor, safety is ensured against the worst case accident (loss of coolant with all rods out), by limiting the power density to approximately 6 MW/m3 and the overall core size (resulting in an overall thermal power of 200 MW). Based on these design parameters, the highest temperature the fuel would achieve is approximately 1600_ C, whereas it takes temperatures of approximately 2000_ C in order for a pebble to break down. The second principle is that the silicon carbide, which forms the tiny containment for each of the fuel particles in a pebble, needs to be of sufficient quality so that it can retain the fission products. In tests performed to date on fuel reliability, it has been shown that microspheres can be routinely manufactured with initial defects of less than 1 in 10,000. • 43. The Arnolfini Portrait The Arnolfini Portrait is a very cleverly composed single picture story. Various singular objects, depicted within the image, all of which contain an individual meaning/symbol. For example, the oranges within the painting display the couple s wealth, for such a fruit would have to been imported during the times the wedding took place and would cost a small fortune to purchase. Two pairs of wooden shoes can also be seen in the image, one a bright ruby red the same as that of the bedding and couch symbolizing fertility, the other plain and wooden representing faithfulness. Both, bride and groom, depicted can be seen with pale skin draped in lavish furs, the bride also displaying a high forehead and wrapped in a blue underdress. This not only ... As Elaiza was entering the building through the doors that were covered in newspaper she was creeped out and did not want to stay here. • 45. How Did Jp Morgan Help The Government Out Of The Panic Of... In the 1890 s, J.P Morgan was famous for helping the government out of the Panic of 1893. While doing this, he made a lot of extra money in the process. This caused a lot of negative controversy in the public, and the people began to doubt the government s liability. From the book Grover Cleveland, a Study of Courage, the author comments, hard handed Americans believed that Cleveland... had sold the credit of the republic to the Morgans... and had pocketed a share of the price. Their vituperative anger was additional evidence of a sectional and class bitterness (Nevins 665). This shows the side of the story from the perspective of an American citizen. On top of that, Morgan refused to tell the public how much money he made from helping the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What Morgan was doing was using his power to gain control of all railways and, this resulted in stopping other companies from trading along these railroads. This made companies very upset, and that the fact that this entire incident was illegal forced Morgan to close one of his companies down. As a middle class citizen, this would make you wary of all of Morgan s other monopolies also, because if he almost got away with one illegal act, what else could he do? On another note, Morgan dominated certain insurance companies, and was again using his power and wealth to end up making the people pay for his expenses. In an article discussing this, They[Morgan s company] had $50 million a year to invest money given by ordinary people for their insurance policies . This is just another example of how J.P Morgan used other people s money for his own self. If you begin to think in the public mindset, the phrase, They control the people through the people s own money , begins to make sense. This all connects to a political cartoon showing Morgan controlling a machine labeled Wall Street that was controlling the people s money and forcing an American citizen to work for the company at the same time. Overall, Morgan used tactics that were only for himself, and negatively impacted society. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Characteristics Of Caring There was a time in my life that my friend s boyfriend broke up with her, she needed a friend that would stay with her the whole time she needed it and I was that friend. I stayed with her gave her hugs and tissues when needed. She could have called any other friend of hers, but she decided to call me and I feel that she appreciates me more now than she did before. After that day I think she has more trust in me. By staying with her I am showing that I am caring. Caring can be performed in many different ways, like helping someone with their homework, or walking with someone that needs a friend. The characters Madeline from Everything Everything and Marin from Geraldo no Last Name are caring to others because they both care for someone that they hardly even know. First off Madeline from Everything Everything is caring for others. One example is That night I only IM with him until 2 A.M. instead of 3 A.M. (Yoon 101). This shows that she talks to him about his day and if he had a bad day she will. If he has a problem, then he can talk to her and she will be there. She is caring because she helps him with life problems because she has all the time in the world to help him with all his problems and think of an answer to give him. Another example of Madeline is caring is I don t see what happens not because I pull away from my mom and I m running (Yoon 135). This shows that she is caring by saying that she will basically risk everything for him if he needs her. She is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. Equine Therapy For Children With Disabilities Furthermore, research is demonstrating the promise that equine therapy holds for children with intellectual disabilities. When compared to traditional intervention methods, equine therapy is a bit more cost effective, meaning more families can afford equine therapy. With this in mind, it shows promise of becoming a standard form of early intervention for individuals with disabilities (Holmes et. al. 120). As the childages, research is showing more and more support for equine therapy. It was mentioned previously how equine therapy can help a child in the classroom. Research shows that equine therapy can help a child in nearly every aspect of his or her life. Equine therapy proved in one study that it helps children with intellectual disabilities with their balance, thanks to the stimulating movements of the horse(Biery et. al. 1). Motor skills have improved after just a few sessions in equine therapy, whether it be riding or hippotherapy (Snider et. al. 1). In addition, researchers have found that social skills have improved with equine therapy (Bass, Dunchowny llabre 1266). The reason for the improvement in social skills is because in therapeutic riding lessons, children are given the chance to interact with other individuals who are similar to them. This creates a bond between the students. Individuals in hippotherapy gain social skills because of the interactions they have with a therapist, and the bonds formed with the horse. All of these researchers have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
