1) This document provides information for students taking the 1st BATXILLERAT English course including class times and materials needed. 2) Students will keep an "English File" instead of a notebook to organize notes, exercises, vocabulary, handouts and other coursework. 3) Struggling students are provided extra resources and exercises available on Moodle to improve their English skills. 4) Course evaluation will be based on listening, reading, grammar, speaking, and writing tests with specific weightings outlined. Effort, participation, behavior and attendance will also factor into final marks.

4. EVALUATION CRITERIA
Here is a summary:
• Listening 15% 2-3 tests / term
• Reading 15%
(Reader’s test 1st & 2nd term; PAU Exam tests 3rd term)
• Grammar & Vocabulary 20% 1 test / term
• Speaking 25% 2 tasks / term*
(*If you speak English in class: 5%)
• Writing 25% 1 test / term
(3 compositions: 2 at home (50%) and the test (50%))

5. Some considerations
Term marks and end-of year final mark will be rounded up and
down taking into account:
• work in class and at home
• interest and effort: participation in class, speaking English, optional exercises, …
• teamwork
• attendance and punctuality, good behaviour, complying class and school rules
• don’t drink and don’t eat in class. (Do it during break time!)
Really important:
• explain and justify your absences to the teacher (in advance or when return)
• late-comings and non attending lessons will be penalized up to 10%.
• exams will not be repeated on another date. In emergency cases, the parent’s phone
call is compulsory, together with the doctor’s certificate.
• all electronic devices must be switched off and kept inside the schoolbag, not inside
your pocket!
