EVALUATION CRITERIA
Here is a summary:
• Listening                       15% 2-3 tests / term
• Reading                         15%
  (Reader’s test 1st & 2nd term; PAU Exam tests 3rd term)
• Grammar & Vocabulary            20% 1 test / term
• Speaking                        25% 2 tasks / term*
   (*If you speak English in class: 5%)
• Writing                       25% 1 test / term
  (3 compositions: 2 at home (50%) and the test (50%))
Some considerations
     Term marks and end-of year final mark will be rounded up and
       down taking into account:

•   work in class and at home
•   interest and effort: participation in class, speaking English, optional exercises, …
•   teamwork
•   attendance and punctuality, good behaviour, complying class and school rules
•   don’t drink and don’t eat in class. (Do it during break time!)
    Really important:
•   explain and justify your absences to the teacher (in advance or when return)
•   late-comings and non attending lessons will be penalized up to 10%.
•   exams will not be repeated on another date. In emergency cases, the parent’s phone
    call is compulsory, together with the doctor’s certificate.
•   all electronic devices must be switched off and kept inside the schoolbag, not inside
    your pocket!

Course Information

  • 1. 1st BATXILLERAT • Timetable and classrooms Tu-5 (CR-2) / Th-5 (51) / Fri-3 (52) • SUMMER WORK? • marked with up to 1 point added to the 1st term, if it is passed. • COURSE MATERIAL NEEDED:  SB, WB, FILE (plastic folder with sheets), pen, pencil, rubber, pendrive and headphones.  Dictionary at home (at hand, paper or online: wordreference)  READERS: 1st term “A Foreigner in Britain” Burlington 2nd term “The Sign of Four” Macmillan  Gmail account

ENGLISH FILE • Instead of a notebook • Sections: – Notes from explanations, blackboard, … – SB exercises – Glossary: your “New Vocabulary” each unit – Handouts: symbols to correct compositions, PAU evaluation criteria… – Worksheets with extra exercises – Compositions and pieces of writing – Reader’s dossiers – Objectives lists & Continuous self-assessment sheets – ICT Projects / Extra exercises / Optional exercises –… You can find this index in the Moodle.   • 4. EVALUATION CRITERIA Here is a summary: • Listening 15% 2-3 tests / term • Reading 15% (Reader’s test 1st & 2nd term; PAU Exam tests 3rd term) • Grammar & Vocabulary 20% 1 test / term • Speaking 25% 2 tasks / term* (*If you speak English in class: 5%) • Writing 25% 1 test / term (3 compositions: 2 at home (50%) and the test (50%))
  • 5. Some considerations Term marks and end-of year final mark will be rounded up and down taking into account: • work in class and at home • interest and effort: participation in class, speaking English, optional exercises, … • teamwork • attendance and punctuality, good behaviour, complying class and school rules • don’t drink and don’t eat in class. (Do it during break time!) Really important: • explain and justify your absences to the teacher (in advance or when return) • late-comings and non attending lessons will be penalized up to 10%. • exams will not be repeated on another date. In emergency cases, the parent’s phone call is compulsory, together with the doctor’s certificate. • all electronic devices must be switched off and kept inside the schoolbag, not inside your pocket!
