- 1. THRILLER COSTUMES From researching into different thriller films and looking at the type of costumes I have noticed that the majority of costumes in thriller films are quite similar. For example the villain is usually dressed very simple, and casual in order to create the sense of normality, they are usually dressed in dark black average clothing this could be due to the fact that black connotes danger; therefore its foreshadowing that something bad is going to happen. They are never dressed too extreme as it could take away the attention of the other characters; however they sometimes have a something unique on them such as a prop to signify their role. Moreover makeup also plays a big role in costume as it creates the image of how the character needs to look for a certain scene or their role in general. For example it can create an illusion for horrific scenes, such as high amounts of bloody and cuts and bruises.
