1. Simple writing- white background on black
font. This makes it stand out much more
prominently and also with the contrast of
black and white out line of trees and the
only colour used is for the Voo-doo doll
this draws the viewer to this.
Voo-doo dolls are used as a symbol for
this movie poster. This suggests to the
readers that it has a more sinister and
leads to the genre horror.
Main image: The use of tree’s and
what looks like a low angle or floor
shot looking up captures the light
between the trees showing purity
and good vs evil.
‘SCARY AS HELL’ – relating to people
who believe in hell for it to be
accurate statement. Suggesting it is
very scary these quotes from reviews
are great for new audiences to see
what the film is like.
2. Anchorage text: This includes all sell lines, for
example ‘OH YES… THERE WILL BE BLOOD’
this text is used to invite the viewers into
watching based on weather that is was they
would usually like in a horror movie. For
example it shows that there is a good chance
of being a gory film as oppose to Paranormal
activity for example.
Masthead: ‘SAW 2’- written in a very
recognisable featured way this is not the
same with all of the saw films however it
does show similarities every time.
Main image: Gory and violence pictures suggest a
horror genre. The problem with being so gory on
a front cover is it will limit the amount of people
which would be willing to watch the film, for
example young females may find it too
inappropriate.
Advertisement: Unlike the Magazines featuring
genre work just like this there is no competitive
price as the company wouldn’t deal with this.
Colour scheme:
Through the saw
Franchise
advertisement there
are only 3 colours
that are used. RED,
BLACK and white.
This is very made
very clear and is
almost there trade
mark thing.
3. Anchorage text: ‘What will it sound like when you
die?‘ This suggest it’s a horror genre and might
have some involvement around kidnapping or
torture.
Main image: Worrying face which also could possibly be a
mask to cover up someone's face. The eyes are also a persons
mouth in a screaming positon with also suggests the unseen,
unheard genre of horror film. The Masked person is also
looking directly to the camera so the photo is symmetrical.
Also holding a phone backs up with what is said in the Sell line
‘what will it sound like when you die?’ The darkness around
the masked person suggests they are in the dark watching
which would scare a lot of people the feeling of being
watched.
Colour scheme: Black white and Red
are the only colours used this is
common for a horror movie. The
white on black background shows
pure or good against evil. With the
black background it makes the white
face stand out more. Even though the
white fades to black it makes it
genuinely look shady.
