Corruption in India is a pervasive issue, manifesting through bribery, misappropriation of public goods, and nepotism, significantly affecting various sectors including government, health, and education. India ranked 85th out of 174 countries in corruption perception, with a high percentage of citizens reporting bribery experiences. Although complete eradication of corruption may be unrealistic, measures such as education, transparency, and legislative efforts like the Lokpal Act aim to mitigate its impact.

2. What is Corruption?
 Corruption is an age-old phenomenon.
 The word corruption means destruction, ruining or
spoiling – a society or nation.

guises: bribery, misappropriations of public
goods, nepotism and influencing the formulation
of laws or regulations for private gain.

21. CONCLUSION
Corruption is an intractable problem. It is like
diabetes, can only be controlled, but not totally
eliminated. It may not be possible to root out
corruption completely at all levels but it is
possible to contain it within tolerable limits.
