A graduate of Harvard Medical School, Dr. Elliott Bennett Guerrero is
the vice chairman and a professor of Anesthesiology at Stony Brook
Medicine. In this capacity, Elliott Bennett Guerrero led a clinical trial
for a coronavirus treatment with blood plasma.

3. In 2020, Stony Brook Medicine conducted research to see if the
administration of blood plasma from individuals that have
survived an infection with coronavirus -19 (COVID-19) can help
patients who are hospitalized with COVID-19 infection .
Convalescent plasma contains antibodies to COVID-19 and was
theorized to have potential to help people who have not yet
mounted an immune response to the virus. The study found that
the administration of convalescent plasma increased antibodies to
the virus that causes COVID-19 infection, but did not improve
patient's survival or other clinical outcomes.

4. This clinical trial's results were published in Critical Care
Medicine, which is the official journal of the Society of Critical
