Two mysterious messages from a senior Delhi government officer,
conveying chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's order to keep the media at
bay , have puzzled Delhi Po ice since Tuesday night. While cops refused
to enterain the request of keeping media away or restricting heir
movement as there was no threat perception, he government on
Wednesday denied that such a call was made.
Around 7.30pm, a joint secretary rank official used he “static station“, a
local security setup, to relay a message to stop media from events
frequented by Kejriwal. The police brass was conveyed by the
command room about the message and even as senior officers
pondered over a suitable reply a second message was received.

The second message, too, was from the same joint secretary who asked
Delhi Police to stop mediapersons from entering any venue visited by
Kejriwal. The message was subsequently relayed to all DCPs and
additional DCPs. “The call was centralized, so the police control room
disseminated it to all district units, specialized units like crime branch,
security unit and special cell,“ an officer said.
To find the validity of the message, an officer contact ed the CM's office
and inquired if there was any threat from media conveyed to Kejriwal.
The CM's office apparently said there was no threat but Kejriwal did
not want to interact with the media at public functions.

After an hour, a senior Delhi Police officer conveyed on the wireless
that it was not possible to enforce the step. “There is no threat
perceptible from the media so it was not possible to keep them away
or restrict their movement. A special commissioner rank officer passed
on the info to the CM's office,“ an officer said.
On Wednesday , the government denied having made any such
request.Cops are puzzled as they have a recording of the call along with
the source coordinates. A team of additional CP and DCP rank officers
has been asked to probe into the calls and submit a report to the police
commissioner.
