The spate of dengue deaths reached the doors of the Delhi high court on
Wednesday in the form of a PIL. Filed by a law student, the PIL was
mentioned before a bench of Justices B D Ahmed and Sanjeev Sachdeva
where the petitioner urged the court to hear it on urgent basis as another
child succumbed to the disease on Tuesday . The case is now likely to be
taken up for hearing on Thursday.
Appearing for the petitioner Gauri Grover, advocate Satya Ranjan Swain,
drew the courts attention to the callous conduct of Delhi government in
handling the menace.
“The PIL seeks directions to Delhi Police to file an FIR for abetment to
commit suicide against the directors of named hospitals and a direction to
treat dengue as an epidemic so that dengue patients should not be denied
admission in any hospital, government or private,“ the plea added.
