Quantitative Approach
 Management science or operations research:
1.Determining the critical path in a production line. This is the set of
steps where any delays in the entire production process.
2. Determining the percentage of items produce that have quality
errors and the types of the errors that are present.
 Operations management :
1. Forecasting in inventory and raw material needs for future
periods.
2. Determining the best location for a distribution center to
minimize shipping times to all potential purchaser.
THE CONTINGENCY APPROACH
 The theory states that leadership effectiveness, as it relates to
group effectiveness, is a component 2 factors :

 According to the theory one can assess situational favorability by 3

Herzberg's Two Factor Theory
 Herzberg proposed the Motivation-
Hygiene Theory,also known as the
Two factor theory (1959) of job
satisfaction.
 According to his theory, people are
influenced by two sets of factor:

1. People do not like work and try to
avoid it
2. People do not like work, so
managers have to control, direct
coerce and threaten employees to
get them to work toward
organizational goals
3. People prefer to be directed, to
avoid responsibility , and to want
security ,they have little ambition

1. People do not naturally dislike
work,work is a natural part of their
lives.
2. People internally motivated to reach
objectives to which they are
committed.
3. People committeded to goals to the
degree that they receive personal
rewards when they reach their
objectives.

The Systems Approach
 The systems approach to management is more a preperspective for
viewing problems than a school of management thought.
 The system approach is very important in general management
analysis. For specially ideas that have had substantial impact on
management thinking are:

People do not like work, so managers have to control, direct coerce and threaten employees to get them to work toward organizational goals 3. People internally motivated to reach objectives to which they are committed. 3. People committeded to goals to the degree that they receive personal rewards when they reach their objectives.
