Estate Planning Attorney Essay
An estate planning attorney is a lawyer who specializes in helping clients get their affairs in order.
This may be driven by a mental disability or to simplify the client s affairs in case they die. Estate
planning requires more than just making a last will and testament. It is up to this attorney to help
mitigate estate taxes, create living trusts and protect the client s assets from creditors after their
death. While it costs moneyto hire an estate planning attorney, these lawyers can help save
thousands or millions of dollars in the future.
What Should You Look for in an Estate Planning Attorney?
Your estate planning attorney should be someone who has specialized knowledge about estate
planning. It is their job to help with health care directives, conservatorship issues, powers of
attorney and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A proactive approach to estate planning is key to saving you and your family money over the long
run. Estate plans are designed to protect assets in the event that something happens to you. From
creating a living trust to designating a guardian, an estate plan is the best way to protect your
family. With an estate plan, you can:
Lower Your Estate Taxes
One of the most obvious reasons to create an estate plan is to lower the taxes incurred by your
beneficiaries. A lawyer can help you use techniques like living trusts to avoid or reduce estate taxes.
As a result, your beneficiaries can inherit more of your estate without sending it in as taxes.
Skip the Costs of Probate Court
In some cases, your estate plan may help your property to skip the probate process entirely.
Normally, your entire property would go through probate court for months as it is distributed
between your beneficiaries. In addition to taking time, this process can be extremely expensive.
There are ways to avoid the costs of probate court, but you would have to make a good estate plan
to do so.

Golden Age Of Absolutism Essay
The Age of Absolutism, ranging from 1550 1800, was a period of time where monarchs
successfully gathered wealth and power of states thus allowing the world to witness the
emergence of the Absolute Monarch . The beginning of the absolutism unarguably originated in
Spain with King Philip II who remained in power for 42 years, claiming he ruled by divine right.
Philip II not only extended Spain s power during his time as an absolute monarch but also led
Spain through a Golden Age from the years 1550 1650. Philip II founded academies of both
mathematics and science leading to an increase in education and was also an avid patron of the
arts which helped Spain prosper during this golden age by allowing famous writers such as Lope

During his reign, King Louis XIV, named himself the Sun King justifying his absolute power,
created a cult of majesty and successfully made the French army the strongest in Europe at the time.
The building Versailles undoubtedly acted as the most prominent symbol of Louis royal power
and was one of the events that altered the rights of the French nobility. The palace of versailles
acted as a possible housing option for 10,000 individuals including churchmen, bourgeoise, and
the nobles. Louis XIV also pressured the whole senior nobility to spend copious amounts of time
at Versailles as a means of political control in order to contain them and help him maintain his role
as an absolute monarch. During their mandated time at Versailles, nobles competed for power and
prestige; King Louis XIV awarded them with royal pensions, financial gratifications, living
quarters in Versailles, military/religious employment, and invitations to elite ceremonies and
events. King Louis reign of absolutism and by confining them to a life in Versailles led to a
domestication of the nobles. They were unable to organize revolts, were required to fawn over

USFS Mckenzie River Fire Career Analysis
2004 through 2011 involved work for the USFS McKenzie River Ranger District. I joined the
McKenzie River Fire program as a temporary employee in June of 2004. I began as a crew
member of a type three engine team through the end of the season in 2006. At that time I was
hired on as the assistant engine captain of engine 11, a FL70 model 80 type three engine.
During my three seasons as a temporary I was exposed to opportunities that promoted education
in leadership, suppression, and engine operation skills. Over the course of this time we had
approximately 30 fires that the engine responded to both on the district and off forest assignments.
Some of the roles I took were firefighter type 1 and 2, incident commander type 5, engine operator,
and a prescribed fire burn boss type 3. I was also awarded two spot cash awards during my first
year for most improved and rookie of the year. During my second season I was awarded another
cash spot award for my role during the rescue of an injured YCC crew... Show more content on

Here I gained even more suppression and leadership experience. I became an engine boss, firing
boss, and incident commander type 4. I was able to fight fires all over the country. Some of the
regions I was able to fight fire in were the North West, South Texas, the south east, and California.
I was the acting captain on a number of off forest dispatches while the captain was on other
assignments and gained great experience as a supervisor and leader receiving great evaluations
from division superintendents, task force leaders, and district battalion chiefs. During the 2009
season the Willamette national forest, southern cascades district of the Oregon department of
forestry, and the Eugene district BLM established a type 3 team where I was given the assignment
of primary division group supervisor. Over the next three years the team responded to three major

The Effect Of Visitor Interaction On Primate Species In Zoos
In the wild, interactions between humans and animals are often limited. In captivity, this dynamic
is altered as a result of humans being allowed to be in close proximity to the animals while they
are on display. Zoos, especially in Europe and North America, strive to educate the public about
their animals and the conservation efforts to help save them in the wild (Hosey, 2005). In order to
ensure that visitors leave the zoofeeling as if they can make a difference, visitors need to feel a
connection with the animals. A way in which this is done is to design exhibits that put the public
closer to the animals. By doing so, it is common that animals in captivity can be subject to
interaction with the guests, creating a potential for visitor... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Different populations have been seen reacting negatively, while others have reacted positively
or neutrally. In Wells (2005) it was suggested that crowd size had a negative impact on the
gorillas at the Belfast Zoological Gardens in Northern Ireland. The gorillas had increased
aggression during large crowd sizes and appeared less stressful during low visitor periods.
However, some populations of gorillas did not show an increase in undesirable behavior in
relation to larger crowd size. In Kuhar (2008) there were no significant findings that suggested
crowd size played any role in the behavior of the gorillas. In a study conducted by Ross and Lukas
(2006) it was found that during crowds of high density or low density alike, there were no
significant differences in gorilla behavior. Interestingly, in Wells (2006) the researchers suggest
that some auditory stimulation, such as that from visitors, can be a form of enrichment for the
gorillas rather than a source of stress. Similarly, in Stoinski et al., (2012) there were no
significant effects of crowd size for some of the behaviors they analyzed. Other behaviors they
observed did change in relation to crowd size such as contact aggression and undesirable behavior
but those behaviors changes were not seen as significant and it is suggested that crowds may affect
some individuals and not

Benito Mussolini s Ambiguity Of Fascism
Fascism such as that displayed in post World War 1 Italy was in many ways a contradictory
ideology; anti modernism contrasted with technological obsession and anti democratic views
paired with capitalism. Despite this ambiguity of the fascist ideology, one clear characteristic
among almost all fascists throughout history has been a heavy focus on militarism an aspect of
Mussolini s Italy which was intrinsically tied to his use of terror and force to achieve fascist
political agendas. For evidence of Benito Mussolini s heavy handed political tactics, one must first
examine how his fascist party first rose to power in a country which had been a constitutional
monarchy for many years prior. Although Italy had been among the allied victors of

Emotional Analysis Of Ernest Hemingway s A Clean,...
In his short story A Clean, Well Lighted Place, Ernest Hemingway, uses his usual style of elegant,
yet unembellished, prose to depict one late night interaction between an old man, a young waiter,
and an older waiter. The story takes place at a cafГ© in Madrid, during the era following the Lost
Generation and is apparent, given the contrasting perspectives of the characters. The part of the
story where the young waiter refills the old man s brandy with an agitated demeanor and the old
man desires nothing more than to drink continuously, as he does on a nightly basis, illuminates the
broader concerns of the of the story. This passage, although centered around the story s supporting
characters, unveils the idea of nothingness before the reader s introduction to the word nada.
Hemingway s A Clean, Well Lighted Place, is a revelation to the elaborate complexity of emotional
fulfillment versus the existential crisis of spiritual and emotional emptiness, between the young and
the old, throughout this particular generational gap. Throughout the passage, we see the young
waiter go through a wide range of emotions, beginning with him feeling irritated, which becomes
perceivable after his initial statement: a terse What do you want? directed at the old man (153). He
then becomes condescending, telling the old man that he will be drunk if he continues drinking,
knowing that he cannot hear him and that getting drunk is, evidently, the old man s intentions
(154). Next, he tells

Full movement neuromuscular electrical stimulation improves plantar flexor spasticity and ankle

This was an interesting article. It examined the use of electrical stimulation as a treatment for
spasticity in the ankle plantar muscles, specifically the tibias posterior, gastrocnemius, and soleus.
Electrodes were placed over the extensor digitorum longus muscles and the extensor hallicus
muscles of post stroke patients with plantar flexor spasticity. Various intensities were tested. The

The Right Stuff Sparknotes
American Heros in Tom Wolfe s The Right Stuff
Tom Wolfe s The Right Stuff depicts the lives of some of America s hottest pilots and its first
astronauts. These men include Pete Conrad, Chuck Yeager, John Glenn, Gus Grissom, Wally
Shirra, Alan Shepard, Gordon Cooper, Scott Carpenter and Deke Sleyton. Some of these men
were hotshot test pilots at Edwards Air Force Base, and some flew cargo planes. Some had
impeccable service records, while others hadn t flown in a real dog fight for even a second.
Despite these differences in backgrounds and credentials, Tom Wolfeturns each of these nine men
into a separate and individualized hero.
Chuck Yeager and John Glennare probably the most memorable of the nine pilots in The Right Stuff
. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This anecdote occurs at the beginning of the chapter that introduces Chuck Yeager. The placement
of this story is important because the reader is made aware of Yeager s influence before he knows
who Yeager really is.
Wolfe also uses an anecdote to set John Glenn apart form the rest of the pilots. Wolfe describes
Glenn s personal exercise by saying, He d be out there in full view, on the circular driveway of
the Bachelor Officers Quarters, togged out in his sweat suit, his great freckled face flaming
red...there was no end to it, in front of everybody (110). Glenn s activities were definitely
unusual. The astronauts of the Mercury Project were required to do four hours of exercise per
week. John Glenn far exceeded these guidelines. But according to Wolfe, most fighter pilots, at
least those who have the right stuff, put exercise very low on their list of priorities. This is an
important point because Glenn wasn t a typical fighter jock. It was very obvious to the other pilots
that he was very different.
Another way that Wolfe develops each astronaut into a hero is by revealing details about his
personality through his words. For example, Chuck Yeager is asked about how he feels about being
left out of the Mercury Project. Inflating his own ego, Yeager mentions his own

The Fall Of The Roman Republic
Tiberius and his brother Gaius were regarded in Roman tradition as the initiators of the revolution
which led to the breakdown of the Republic. (Roebuck, 1966:506) The fall of the Roman Republic
occurred during the late second century BC and resulted in various leading figures emerging such
as Tiberius Sempronius Gracchus. Tiberius Gracchus was largely responsible for creating and
initiating a long term political crisis in Rome in the early first century through his land reformations
and desire to aid the poor. However, his intentions led not only to political arguments but violence
within Roman society. This will be demonstrated through the analysis of ancient sources, discussion
of the historical context, Tiberius Gracchus motives, actions and contribution to the fall of the
Roman Republic. Much has been written about Tiberius in both modern and ancient sources,
although some are divided on his motives while others strive for his selflessness. Orosius, an
ancient source concerning the Roman Republic stated that Tiberius was angry with the nobility
because of the Numantine Treaty, decided that the land possessed hither to by private individuals,
should be divided amongst the people, and this caused him to reform against the Senate (Bishop,
1988). There are a trio of vital ancient sources reliable on the breakdown of the Republic. Cicero,
Appian and Plutarch. Cicero is one of the few that actually lived during and participated in the
events he comments on, so was

Different Types Of Generators Are Used For Wind Power...
4.4 Types of Wind Generators
Various types of generators that are used for wind power generation are induction generators and
synchronous generators. In this section a brief review of different types of generators including
their advantages and disadvantages are presented.
Generators suitable for Constant speed turbines:
пЃ¶Squirrel Cage Induction Generator (SCIG) Generators suitable for variable speed turbines:
пЃ¶Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG)
пЃ¶Permanent Magnet synchronous Generator (PMSG).
4.4.1 Induction Generators

Therefore, they may increase the maintenance cost. Another solution to improve the power factor is
to insert a power converter in series with the armature circuit. In this way, full control is obtained
over the induction generator performance, but at the cost of a converter capable of handling the full
power of the generator.
4.4.1.1 Squirrel Cage Induction Generator
A squirrel cage induction generator is an asynchronous machine, with a squirrel cage rotor and
stator, which is directly connected to the grid. The wind turbine rotor will be directly coupled to the
generator through a gearbox, which matches the rotational speed of blades with that of the
generator. Essentially this is a constant speed wind turbine because the power converted from the
wind is limited by designing the turbine rotor in such a way that its efficiency decreases under high
wind speeds. Induction generator is the most common generator in wind energy systems because of
its simplicity, ruggedness, low maintenance and low cost. The main drawback in induction
generator is its consumption of reactive power for producing the real power. The VAR
compensation can be done with the help of fixed capacitance connected near the Induction
generator. The fixed capacitance method of VAR compensation is generally done when the torque
applied to the induction generator is constant. In practice, most wind farms have fixed capacitor
banks installed to fulfill

they should work on their customer relations a little more. Mr. Esteves, the stockholder, found
this program important due to the fact that since it was instituted the stocks of Staples Inc. have
been going up. Although all three agree it is not a bad idea, Ms. Lam and Mr. Forgione do not
find this type of program important to them at all. The fact that they do not find this program of
no importance is because it has absolutely no affect on the customer or the employee
stakeholders. The benefits of this program do not directly impact a majority of its employees or
its customers. It appears that the relationship between Staples and its employee and customer
stakeholders is a straight give take relationship, through the perspective of the stakeholders. Ms.

My Experience At The Big City Of Jacksonville
When I first moved to the big city of Jacksonville, I was cultured shocked. Being born and raised
in a small town where everyone knew everyone, elderly people made up the majority of the
population, and being a liberal could get a brawl going, the new diversity astounded me. Growing
up in my southern town, I was not forced to have specific ideals, but the culturecertainly affected
them. My town has made me who I am today and I question if being raised so conservative has

much individuality, that I could not fully grasp. When I would go to Walt Disney World, I

head to see an Amish family. I always found it astonishing, because where I came from everyone
was basically the same. Of course, there was always a few that did break away from the norm
that my county had, but they stuck out like a sore thumb. These were the type of people that were
either very rich or gothic in style. I don t recall them being bullied, but they were noticed and

In Shakespearian plays, women were shown as the victims of men and also, women were
described as calm. Women were oppressed by men. Men were shown as violent and aggressive.
Good Night Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet), written by Ann Marie Macdonald talks about
women being aggressive and violent. Women are shown equal to men according to their behavior,
but they can still be easily manipulated by men. Women are the victims of the actions of men. Men

Explain Why College Should Not Be Free Essay
Why college should not be free
College in modern times is said to be a necessity for success, but should college be free? The
system college creates relies on the cost of the education being extremely high to function, if we
made college free it would lose all of its value. Without the high price, college would just be an
extension of your high school education. Education is expensive and someone else would have to
foot the bill for your secondary learning and housing. On the other hand, college creates many
problems for the students who choose to attend. Some of these problems include a perceived lack
of fairness, massive amounts of debt, and a lack of opportunity for students who grew up in a
lower economic class. Another drawback to expensive education is the very intelligent ... Show

Debt has become a major issue in politics for my generation, people think they should be
absolved of the debt they signed up for. It would be very good for our country if no person had
any debt from their education. In a time where the majority of people own less than the top one
percent, we should be doing everything we can to help people who cannot pay for their
education. The only problem is that someone has to pay back the money that they barrowed. It
would be irresponsible to trust your own debt, that you knowingly signed up for, onto every tax
paying American. When people sign up for college it is not like anyone forced them to take out
loans or forced them to go to college in the first place. Some might say that the cost of college is
so great that no person should be expected to pay back such a large sum. While it is true that the

degree. Thankfully with a college degree you have more opportunities at getting a high paying job

The Role Of Children In Goodnight Mister Tom, By Michelle...
Children look up to parents as their role models and influencers, however sometimes they do not

War 2. The author, Michelle Magorian, tells a story through this world event about a young child
who is evacuated to the country at the anticipation of the war. The child, William Beech, is sent
away by his abusive mother in London to the small country town of Little Weirwold to live with a

figures on a growing child. This is explored through the characteristics of Mrs Beech and Mr Tom,
how they are compared and contrasted and the effects of their... Show more content on

The baby was described as smelly and she had tape on her mouth to stop her from trying to get
attention as Mrs Beech claimed that the baby also needed to learn discipline. She also has a
warped view of Will and the kind of person he is, shown when he brings home gifts from Little
Weirwold and she accuses him of begging for it or stealing it. She also accuses Will of being full
of sin although it is obvious that he is polite and kind to others. When Will came back from the
country healthier and more confident than she remembered, she believed that she had to silence
him into obedience and was scared that he had threatened her authority . We can see that she is
very insecure about her role in society and as a mother. Mrs Beech is a bad parent is clearly unfit for
bringing up children.
Tom Oakley is a kind man who cares for and loves Will and is a positive role modelfor him. He is a
healthy, strong old man who lives in the country town of Little Weirwold. The description of
Tom s physical appearance already tells us that he can take care of himself and is probably more

The Rhino Virus Most people in their lifetime will get a cold. To get this cold they would need to
get a virus and this virus is known as the Rhino virus. Common colds are infections of the nose,
throat, and bronchial tubes. Because there is no vaccine for the Rhinovirus, the best way for
protection is by regularly washing your hands, avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth and stay
away from people who are infected ( Common Colds:Protect Yourself and Others ). There is no
cure, but the immune response is a system that will kill the virus in a matter of weeks. The purpose
of the immune system is to protect against disease (Rhinovirus) and harmful pathogens damaging
the body (Zimmerman).

The Labyrinth
There was continually something about specific parts of The Muppets that frightened me, as much
as I adore them! I particularly recall one portrayal on a VHS called Gonzo s Muppet Weird Stuff
that had Jim Henson and Frank Oz executing as two singing animals using their own mouths
flipped around, it was frightening! There was something unsettling about the passages paving the
way to the Gorg s kingdom in Fraggle Rock . Be that as it may, nothing was more alarming than the
introductory appearance of the trolls in Henson s 1986 film Labyrinth.
With a basic cut from adolescent Sarah advising her infant sibling Toby a bedtime story to a
bunch of trolls surrounded in a tight close up, sat in a dull castle, a hundred bad dreams and an
unpreventable feeling of papanoia was gotten under way. As Sarah leaves the room and the
sounds of Toby s crying are quieted with the light switch we start to find the stowaway where a
unending cluster of trolls dash around the room. It is, for a youngsters film, very dim stuff and still
has me somewhat careful about going into obscured rooms post seeing. Yet in a film... Show more

American Military Aviation in the 20th Century
Throughout the 20th century, the use of military aircraft often took part in deciding whether a
battle or war was lost or won. The United States has been marked as notorious for successfully
applying their military aviation strengths to early and mid 20th century warfare. The strategic B 29
Superfortress bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki forced Japan to surrender, allowing the United
States (and Allies) to claim victory, ending World WarII. In the Korean War, US military aviation
proved victorious as US fighter pilots were better equipped and trained, dominating their Chinese,
North Korean, and Soviet Russian opponents. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The use of military aircraft proved greatly beneficial for the United States as they faced a two
front war in the Pacific and Europe. Utilizing their vast human and industrial resources to
develop and construct systematic uses of air power, the US achieved victory in honorable
triumph over Germany and Japan. During World War II, the world battled in a race for
dominance in the air, with the US arguably finishing first. U.S. factories produced overwhelming
numbers of fighter and bombers, and in both Europe and the Pacific, aviation proved crucial in
tactical and strategic roles. The nature of air warfare was remolded due to the technological
leaps and performance and armament of aircraft. The US began to experiment with new building
materials for planes that surpassed many other nations such as Japan and Britain. Paper and
wooden planes were a thing of the past for the most part in the beginning of the war. Titanium and
Aluminium wings and fuselages were slapped onto new developments such as the P 51 Mustang
and P 47 Thunderbolt. In addition, new armaments were added to new aircraft such as M2
browning machine guns that proved effective against paper and wooden made Japanese fighters
and bombers. These advances allowed more air dominance against German and Japanese enemy
aircraft, causing World War II to heavily fall in favor of the United States and the

The Utalitarian Approach to Moral Obligation
Wand(1979) expounds on Hume ethical theory in relation to moral obligation is a theory of good
and evil rather than one of duty and obligation , according to Wand (1956:55): this statement is
quite erroneous for Hume does not merely wish to discover the foundation of our moral actions .
Hume account of how motives prompt men to moral actions is quite complex, but Wand (1979)
also asserts that Hume distinguishes between two basic type of action to make it more
understandable. The first type are those action which men will perform without the aid or influence
of reason or custom; the second are those action which it can be expected men will normally
perform with the aid or influence of reason or custom.
Hume distinguishes these two types of action in terms of the specifically moral nature of their
motive, whether or not the action is done from a sense of duty; thus for Hume, there are four classes
of action: The first, are those actions prompted by the natural or moral motives; The second are
those actions prompted by artificial, non moral motive; third; those actions promoted by artificial
moral motives. In consideration of his account of moral motivation; Hume s ultimate intention is to
show that it cannot be a natural duty to carry out certain types of obligation such as being just or
keeping promises. Hume thinks that the actions envisaged cannot constitute duty; it would never be
a duty unless human nature possesses some rational inclination prompting individuals to

First Person Narrative Essay
The first person narrative is a story told from the first person perspective. The narrator is speaking
directly about him or herself. The first person narrator can be either subjective or objective. The
third objective narrative is a story told by a nonparticipating character. The narrator is usually
detached from the story. Sometimes, the narratorcompletely penetrates the mindof a character. Third
person narration is often used in documentaries. The omniscient narrators are often not part of the
story but are all knowing observers. These narrators tell the reader all the facts we need to know to
fully understand the story. Since the woman thinks that she is seeing a ghost, I would use the first

The story might be told by a group of people or just one person. For instance, the story can be
created by the producers, the directors, and the writers working together. However, in a film with
voice over narrative, the off screen narrator is usually also a character in the story but not always.
The narration in realist movies is almost invisible. The story unfolds by itself in a chronological
order. The narration in classical movies is more obvious. There is a discreet storyteller who help
direct the story and keep everything on track. In formalist movies, the narrator is manipulative.
The narrator often destroys the chronological order of the story and restructures events to
emphasize a point. The narration in The Usual Suspects is conspicuous. Verbal Kint is the narrator
as well as one of the main characters in the film. He is manipulative because the story is told from

Ecotourism vs Volunteer Tourism
The discussion on ecotourism and its essence has led to over eighty different definitions of the topic
(Fennell, 2008). However, one of the most used and comprehensive definitions is reported by
Weaver (ibidem). It describes ecotourism as a form of tourism that fosters awareness, education and
enjoyment of the natural environment and the local values in a sustainable way (Weaver,
2001a:15). Hence, ecotourism, while thriving for profitability, aims to promote education and
cultural awareness of destinations without compromising their ecosystems. Eco tourists demand for
more authentic and meaningful forms of travel and; according to Orams (1996) (in Weaver, 2001a),
they can be classified in two different categories: hard and soft ones. The hard eco tourists believe
in radical self commitment with their destination, in order to ameliorate the natural environment
(give back something) through not mediated (Weaver, 2001b:106), challenging physical activities
immersed in the site s nature (ibidem). However, the soft visitors have shallower levels of
commitment to the environment than hard eco tourists. Indeed, while hard eco visitors tend to
organise independently (where high competence and time availability are required and low level of
services expected on site), soft ones rely on eco tour operators to organise less physically
demanding tours (tab. 1.1a) (ibidem). Nevertheless, further distinctions can be created between
these two categories depending on the antagonism

who came to North Carolina during the gold rush were single men young or middle aged,
ambitions, and hardworking. Unaccompanied by women or children, they were able to move freely
from one mining area to another. When gold was found in other southern states and then in
California in 1848, many moved out of the area. The Cornish miners, however, had often moved

Good Earth Greed Quotes
Greed was a common characteristic in The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck. The characteristic
drew people to do selfish things like join a band of robbers or continuously ask for money, but
don t we have greed in our society today? The Good Earth was set around 1930, or earlier, and
Wang Lung, the main character, lives for about 70 years. Wang Lung is followed through his life in
The Good Earth. What does greed in 1930 s China have in common with greed in today s 2018
society, and what is different?
The characteristic greed in The Good Earth plays a big role in Wang Lung s life. Wang Lung s
uncle is the perfect example of greed because he is always asking for more. He goes as far as to
join The Red Beards, a well known band of robbers, to gain wealth. Another person with a lot of
greed in The Good Earth is Lotus. Lotus is very greedy because she is always asking for money
to spend on luxuries. Another example is Wang Lung himself. Wang Lung never fully
acknowledges the fact that Olan is primarily responsible for his wealth because she stole the
jewels from the rich people in the south. One final example is the gateman at the House of Hwang
in the beginning of the book. He takes advantage of Wang Lung and takes money from him for an

The Importance Of Homework For Children After School
In neighborhoods across America it is a parental common thread that every family with school
aged children deals with daily. Tired and at the end of their long day, after having to hurtle over

focus on the work ahead. This burden assigned by teachers are meant to be done after schooland in
between time with family, dinner and extracurricular activities. Research and teachers support the
practice of assigning homework for children after school because they believe it gives children a
sense of responsibility. They see homework as an essential first step to enforce good study habits

It is the basis of school/home communication that provides parents a window into what is
happening in your child s classroom. Homework should be an opportunity for parents to get
involved and add to the material that covered in class that day.
Education and school are important, but there needs to be a difference between a healthy amount
and challenge in order to learn and improve. Many believe it should have a reasonable time limit.
Homework should not be a punishment for any child or should not be busy work. It should stretch
their minds not break their spirits. Homework was thrown into the spotlight in 1957 when the
Soviet Sputnik program occurred. After the Russians first sent a mission into space, there was a
general feeling in America that students were under prepared, and homework was seen as a tool to
improve the educational preparation of students and ensure America s safety and development
(Maltese, Tai and Fan). Sputnik challenged America to re examine its education system. Experts
called for a tougher curriculum and more homework for all levels. The competitive drive continued
into the 1980 s with Japan putting the US test scores to shame. It caused the amount of homework
to rise even higher.

What fascinated me the most was the men and women who were jumping so high, that they were

Rosemary Dobson s The TigerAndYoung Girl At A Window
The process of discovery refers to the perception created upon experiencing the unfamiliar and
redefining what is familiar. Discovery can be achieved through unexpected means or deliberate
expeditionary, whether it be tangible or a fragment of our thoughts/imagination/emotions. Poems
The Tiger and Young Girl At A Window by Rosemary Dobson and poem Invictus by William Ernest
Henleythoroughly explore this concept via their ideology of human nature and its effect on
discovery.
Rosemary Dobson s The Tiger delicately examines the notion of discovery as a medium of
freedom, relating back to her own mental captivity similar to a tiger in a cage. The extended
metaphor allows careful analysis of the sub lying plot describing a poet s sense of discovery
through their imagination. Through Dobson s use of emotive language in smouldering with rage,
the audience can better understand the poet s deeply felt emotion, being unable to write to her
heart s content. Behind the black barred page further accentuates, assisted by the alliteration, the
statement s metaphoric value of remaining captive under frustration and oppression, destroying
any belief or hope of achieving freedom to discover. Additionally, the hyperbole in the celestial
frame of He rakes the sky and stars...and is not done, emphasises the search and will to discover,
explaining that Dobson will do anything for her freedom, in order to achieve self gratification. The
extended metaphor is resolved in the final

Examples Of The Gap In The Marketing Process Of Huawei

When an exchange happens certain gaps are created between production and consumption. The five
gaps created between production and consumption in the marketing process of Huawei are; Space

Huawei is produced in China and is distributed and sold in Europe, India, Africa and the US and

Another gap in the marketing process of Huawei is the time gap. This time gap is the time taken to

Huawei s adaptive planning is a plan they ve developed with the use of information, this plan can
be adapted as they go through their implementation. For example, Huawei s plan to come into the
market with low price and low end products and then set up their business, this plan would have
been adapted when they decided to switch their low end phones for smart phones. Huawei s
contingency planning is a plan incase an unlikely event occurs in which their previous assumption
changes. Examples of Huawei s contingency plan is; South Africa s national development plan in
which the government wants to implement technology to help with education and social
development which Huawei could not plan for, if they were to have to recall a product and what
they would do, and if their competitor launches a new product and what they would do in that
case. The difference between the two is that Huawei s adaptive planning is a plan in place that they
adapt as they go where as their contingency planning is just a plan for in case something

The Letter Of The Hebrews
The Letter to the Hebrews was clearly written in regards to a specific group of Christians who
were under some type of dilemma in regards to their religion (Rayburn 1490). Most everything
else about this letter though is unclear. The true author of the letter, audience, and location of
this audience all remain uncertain to this day. The letter has been attributed to the apostle Paul,
however early scholars still cannot be sure if he was the true author. They actually believe that it
is more likely that he is not the author. Even though Paul has been credited with writing this
letter, there are many reason why scholars think that this appears to be more and more unlikely.
For one, all of Paul s other letters indicate that he wrote them. It is not a characteristic of him to
keep his letters anonymous. Another indication that scholars have examined is that the overall
style of writing and content in this letter is much different than in any of the others. In addition,
Hebrews 2:3 seems extremely unlikely to be able to connect up with Galatians 1:12 in the sense
of where the messages were first received (Rayburn 1490). Hebrews 13:23 reference to Timothy
gives us insight that he was a friend of both the writer and the readers, which can limit the author
to someone who was a member of Paul s circle. A biblical scholar by the name of Origen once
stated, Who it was that really wrote the Epistle [Hebrews], God only knows (Dockery 749).
Because of this, the author of Hebrews and

Pensacola Harbor
The naval side of the civil war in Florida all started with the Pensacola harbor. There was a navy
yard and three forts guarding the harbor, including Fort Barrancas, Fort McRee, and Fort Pickins.
On January 8, 1861, Florida Governor Madison S. Perry authorized Colonel Chase to seizing the
forts at Pensacola. On the Fort Barrancas, 1st Lieutenant Adam J. Slemmer was an officer from
Montgomery County, Pennsylvania during the Seminole Wars and the American Civil War
. He heard
rumors that the Florida Militia was planning on seizing the Navy Yard, the barracks and the forts in
the Pensacola areas. With Slemmer not wanting to enter the union he moved gunpowder and other
materials to Fort Pickens, which he thought, would be the safest port to fight from.
On January 10, 1861, Florida seceded from the U.S. being the third state to secede. On January 15
and January 18 Slemmer refused demands for surrender from Colonel William Henry Chase who
designed and constructed Fort Pickens. Fort Pickens was thought to be the first war of the civil
war but it took a long time for it to happen. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Nietzsche And Buddhism
Both, Friedrich Nietzsche and the Buddha, at least at the level of conventional truth, look at the life
and the world as largely nihilistic and unsatisfying, and search for a solution to the meaninglessness
of their respective cultural situations by turning within and advocating a transformation of our
inner forces and of our outlook on the world. The major difference between Nietzsche and
Buddhism, however, lies in the role of the will in nihilism and its overcoming. For the Buddha, only
by cutting the root of the fundamental will altogether, through the self overcoming of the will to
power, one can step beyond nihilism. The radicality of both Nietzsche s negation and his
affirmation of life, on the contrary, is limited insofar as the standpoint

My View Of Economic Injustices
Andrea Jefferson: I chose to write this draft because after reviewing each core reading and
comparing its material, I realized my view of economic injustices was very clouded. I was so
captured by Nick Hanauer s TED conference I completely forgot about any other issues concerning
problems in our economy. My target audience I am trying to reach is the struggling middle class
Americans who may be confused about what is putting the middle classin an unfavorable position
economically. By writing this essay, I was hoping to sway the readers with facts and possibly open
their minds to interpret and analyze different perspectives when it comes to the issues our middle
class faces.
Additionally, my draft was losing focus half way through the ... Show more content on

Republicans praise the middle class but preach that giving the wealthy tax breaks will give us
all relief in return. Which leads us all to ask, what is the true cause of middle class suffering? In
this analysis, I have selected The Phantom Menace: What War on the Middle Class by Clive
Crook and A TED Talk on Income Inequality by Nick Hanauer for comparison. These readings
place focus on issues within the middle class in America. Hanauer appears to think that low
wages and unfair taxation are the main culprit of middle class struggle. However, Clive Crook
feels strongly that these economic inequities are so small compared to other growing problems
for the middle class. Nick Hanauer holds a valid point about income inequality being an
important issue, but I am not convinced it is the largest problem the middle class faces. Clive
Crook s article leads me to believe a stifling combination of broken social systems and having a
class based system in general are more troubling for Middle Class America than economic
inequality itself.
Nick Hanauer is a self proclaimed capitalist. In his live conference A TED Talk on Income
Inequality , he speaks to the audience about tax policy and wages. He believes large tax cuts on
the upper class and their majority hold of America s shared income are significantly hurting middle
class families. He feels that these issues are causing a decline in consumerism, leaving a poor
economy and capitalists

Phylis Gotlieb s Essay First Person Demonstrative
Unit 1: Classification Essay Phylis Gotlieb is a Canadian poet from Toronto that was also known
for her science fiction novels, and was often called the mother of contemporary Canadian science
fiction. The poetry that she wrote, similarly to her short stories and novels, often dealt with
relationships, the wonders of the natural universe, human psychology and the importance of
remembering historical roots. One of her poems, First Person Demonstrative , deals with the
theme of unrequited or secret love that is never acted upon. This theme reoccurs in many other
works in many other media, which is dealt with differently in each work. There are a few
examples that can be used to explore this theme, including: If There Be Sorrow , a short... Show

Alighieri s devotion to Beatrice is portrayed in the painting as Dante kneeling before Beatrice, as
if praying to her. Dante s love for Beatrice was divine and unconditional, and was eternally
honoured by his portrayal of Beatrice, the guide to Dante in Heaven in his most famous work of
literature, The Divine Comedy . Why did Dante never let his love for Beatrice be known? As per
tradition, wealthy Italian families children would be betrothed from early childhood, and Dante
was promised to marry the daughter of a family friend before he met Beatrice at age nine. Also,
Dante s love for Beatrice was never intended to be known, which was common in the 14th
century, and was called courtly love. The painting is describing the moment Beatrice first spoke
to Dante, nine years after their first meeting, as described in Alghieri s poem La Vita Nuova . It
would be out of line for Dante to profess his love for Beatrice, as she was a divine being that was
too perfect for the world they lived in. Dante never expected Beatrice to answer his affections,
and even in The Divine Comedy Dante only honours Beatrice s perfection, but never asks Beatrice
to acknowledge his love. In the painting, this is shown in Beatrice s indifferent, but graceful
visage, and Dante s gaze, which is void of desire, but full of admiration. Beatrice was Alghieri s

Heterozygotes, which have the wild type phenotype, have normal sight which gives them the
advantage of finding a mate and have a better success with attracting a mate with their courtship
song (Kyriacou et al, 1978). The male heterozygous Drosophila had a better advantage at mating
than the homozygotes, which were the ebony, and therefore we predict there will be more wild
type by the end of the experiment. METHODS: In this experiment, the instructor provided us
with 30 ebony individuals and 20 wild type individuals. In order to get an exact amount of each
type, we anesthetized the flies and counted them off by gently using a fine point paint brush.
Then all 50 Drosophila were put into a population cage which had a lid that had six holes for the
centrifuge tubes. Two food tubes and four clean, empty tubes were added on the first day. Each
food tube consisted of half a cup full of food mixed with 6 7 milliliters of water. This was the fly
medium. The food should turn blue once the water is added. Each tube was labeled with a
number and with the date. Every two to three days we added one more food tube until all 6 tubes
contained the fly medium. After all 6 tubes were filled, the following days after we exchanged the
first food tube with a new food tube. At the end of the experiment, we fed the flies with a total of
8 food tubes. Then the flies were anesthetized, again. At the end of this four week lab, the number

The Divine Timeless Eternity Theory Essay
The divine timeless eternity theory is the traditional view pertaining to God and time, but it is by
no means the only theory, as there are at least four. My original intention was to compare two
views in relation to this topic, however, the complexity of the dialogue has proven difficult.
Therefore, I will discuss one theory in depth since I believe it will suffice. In this framework, I
will discuss the challenges and varying beliefs with the ideas involved. The goal of my paper is to
understand the doctrine of eternityand find how this changes my understanding of God. Then I will
discuss how this issue influences my approach to God, and to my ministry. First, however, I will
explain the need to uncover the idea of eternalism. We will now proceed.
Why might one explore the idea of how God functions in time? It is extremely difficult to ignore
questions after they have been asked. Historically, questions have been the cause of councils and
creeds that now exist as essential dogmas of the Christian faith. Without questioning, what is real
and what actually exists? The difference can only be distinguished by those who question. While it
might not be explicitly stated, the idea of eternalism is biblical. The theology of the trinity was a
similar idea, where no single passage gives enough evidence to a triune God, but with a proper
understanding of the biblical narrative, there is enough truth to discover such a characteristic of
God s nature. In congruence of this thought,

Body Ritual Among The Nacirema Summary
Prompt #1 Horace Miner s Body Ritual among the Nacirema was a very entertaining essay. The
essay made made fun of American culture without directly stating the name of the culture, other
than including the word American spelled backwards. Miner bring to the reader s attention the odd
rituals practiced in America that the normal citizen would not find strange at all. However, by
presenting his essayin this form he shows how strange American customs are from the view of
someone in a different country. Miner begins his essay by describing the American culture as if
it were a tribe. Although he does so secretly, Horace Miner does state that the tribe is located
between Canada and Mexico. He then states that they have a developed market, yet they re main
concern is on the body. He then goes on to talk about the ritual areas in the homes on the
Nacirema people, bathrooms, where the people practice they re odd rituals. He does not use
direct terms for the medicine men, nor any of the other physicians that are seen in the daily lives
of American people. Miner continues this process while only leaving slight hints. Horace Miner
does a terrific job in this satire. Once view of this paper is noticed, the reader can be entertained by
the mysterious ways of the Nacerima people. This essay has brought attention to the ways of
American culture, which is not only informative but very entertaining. Prompt #2 never run, just

A Comparison of the Power of Will in Heart of Darkness...
The Power of Will in Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now
The story of Heart of Darkness was adapted to film after many failed attempts. (Hearts of
Darkness, Coppala E.). Finally, director Francis Coppala collaborated with his friend John Milius
on writing a screen play for Conrad s masterpiece. The two came up with Apocalypse Now, utilizing
a more modern setting than the original story which was based in imperialistic Europe. The modern
setting was that of the Vietnam war. Apocalypse Now focuses on the insanity of a decorated
military colonial. Kurtz intended to enlighten the natives, but instead he circums to the primal
temptations of the jungle and goes insane. (Hearts of Darkness, Coppala E.)

Innocent people and families were slaughtered. Images of blood and death were seen everyday
as common to soldiers as smiles are to civilians. The ivory trade in imperialistic Europe, as seen
in Heart of Darkness, is another example of suffering and man s evil nature. Through man s
inhumanity to the elephants in hunting them and slaughtering them for their tusks, to in turn
trade for the necessities of life such as food, water, and shelter. Both of these show man s will to
live and survive, be it in battle or in everyday life. Willard s [in the book this character is named
Marlow and in the film his name is Willard, I will refer to him as Willard] mission to terminate
[Kurtz] with extreme prejudice (Apocalypse Now), is one that induces suffering and is just as
unjust or inhumane as the previous examples.
Society as people see it is a mirror reflecting will, Everything in the phenomenal world is merely
the manifestation of this perverse will, or, as he [Schopenhauer] called it, an objectification of the
will [that is to say, the will passed through the categories and the grid mark of space and time]
(Palmer). Man has made laws and morals as the foundations for rationality to protect the people
from their will or primitive instincts. These instincts work much like nature does, unconsciously,
and these instincts include sex and violence, but are not limited to these.

Online Shopping Advantages And Disadvantages
Online shopping has made life a lot easier and less complicated, not to forget that it also is a time
saver. But with every good, there s the bad. The advantages of online shopping on Amazon is
that it s convenient for lazy people, they can order what they want without actually stepping out
of the house, it s less time consuming, cheaper than what s in stores and it offers a lot of
choices, trusted reviews and it sometimes offers products that are no longer in shop racks or
products that don t have a shop and only operate online and with a CEO like Jeff Bezos there is
no such thing as a bad review about the service that is offered, simply because he believes that
all their customers should be treated in a very high manner. Delay of delivery is a disadvantage,
you re not given an exact duration of when or how long the delivery of your order and many more
disadvantages will be further discussed.

Social and Reproductive Monogamy in Vole Rats
Social and Reproductive Monogamy in Vole Rats
Reproductive monogamy is defined as an exclusive sexual relationship between a female and a
male based on their sexual interactions. Social Monogamy refers to male and female s social living
arrangement without sexual interactions. It refers to the living patterns, raising offsprings, and
obtaining food. Monogamy is common in birds, but also occurs in invertebrates. Why would a male
mammal choose to mate with one female when he can mate with more than one? Why would the
male stay around instead of finding another female to live with? Many researchers have
attempted to answer this question of why some mammals prefer monogamy over polygamy. Vole
rats, one of the species that perform monogamous mating, demonstrate pair boding. Male and
female pairs of vole rats have been observed together over several months, and the males stay
with females even when the female is not reproductively active. A typical vole family in the wild
is almost always consisted of one male, one female, and their offspring. In addition, unlike other
species in which females are the only ones taking care of the offspring, vole rats share parental
roles and even build nests together. Because they show these monogamous behaviors, they have
served as a good species/model to learn about monogamy for neuroscientists. In this paper,
monogamy, specifically in vole rats, will be explained along with its proximate and ultimate causes
of this adaptation.

Nuclear Explosion During The Cold War
The occurrence of the explosion was a direct effect of Cold War isolation and the subsequent lack
of safety regulations. From its beginning the Soviet nuclear effort, primarily focused on making an
atomic bomb, was done with complete disregard for human life. Run by skilled, determined and
callous managers, the nuclear industry did not take human life into account if such concerns did
not serve the task at hand. And, like many of the Soviet s projects, the emerging nuclear industry
was covered in secrecy, with little to no information of what was going on made public. This was
mainly due to the fact they wanted to conceal any plans from their enemies, such as the United
States. The Soviet government also wanted to control the scientists and

Persuasive Essay On Progressivist
3A) Personally, my greatest talent or skill would have to be that of a determined progressivist
towards impossible perfectionist; simply stating, being a determined progressivist allows me to
make assurances of whether my assignments, applications, or any other important task are done
towards completion. Whatever obstacle I face on this ever changing path of life, I always refute
the option to give in and fail. Most of those who do face these types of challenges typically give
in, quit, and find a more elementary occupation to fulfill what they could have been; however, I
had never faced a challengein which itself had made me stressed to the point of submission and of
defeat. Even if the odds are stacked against me, I do not let those odds topple over and convince
me to concede. This skill was one that I had to truly develop throughout the entirety of my life.
There were countless opportunities and influences that would have pushed towards me to recede
and let others take the chance. The reason as to why this skill is truly dear to my own being is
due to the fact that the majority of others feel content with what seems to be more simple to
complete. This is what sets me apart from everyone else who has the same aspirations likewise to
myself. This skill, unfortunately, had always suffered from negligence and had been overshadowed
by more pretentious and immediate occupations. Very few students, like myself, had given this
valuable skill the light of day and had been quite

the whole clitoris is removed; at times it is only the prepuce that is cut away. The second is
excision; this is the removal or partial removal of the clitoris along with the labia minor and at
times the labia major. The third and most severe type is infibulation, in which women have their
labia cut and the remaining tissue is stitched together closing the vaginal opening slightly. The
fourth type is considered any harm done to the female genitalia for non medical purposes; this
includes piercing, cutting, pricking, or burning of the tissue (Abdel Azim, 2013). There is no

  • 3. Golden Age Of Absolutism Essay The Age of Absolutism, ranging from 1550 1800, was a period of time where monarchs successfully gathered wealth and power of states thus allowing the world to witness the emergence of the Absolute Monarch . The beginning of the absolutism unarguably originated in Spain with King Philip II who remained in power for 42 years, claiming he ruled by divine right. Philip II not only extended Spain s power during his time as an absolute monarch but also led Spain through a Golden Age from the years 1550 1650. Philip II founded academies of both mathematics and science leading to an increase in education and was also an avid patron of the arts which helped Spain prosper during this golden age by allowing famous writers such as Lope de Vega to emerge.... During his reign, King Louis XIV, named himself the Sun King justifying his absolute power, created a cult of majesty and successfully made the French army the strongest in Europe at the time. The building Versailles undoubtedly acted as the most prominent symbol of Louis royal power and was one of the events that altered the rights of the French nobility. The palace of versailles acted as a possible housing option for 10,000 individuals including churchmen, bourgeoise, and the nobles. Louis XIV also pressured the whole senior nobility to spend copious amounts of time at Versailles as a means of political control in order to contain them and help him maintain his role as an absolute monarch. During their mandated time at Versailles, nobles competed for power and prestige; King Louis XIV awarded them with royal pensions, financial gratifications, living quarters in Versailles, military/religious employment, and invitations to elite ceremonies and events. • 4. USFS Mckenzie River Fire Career Analysis 2004 through 2011 involved work for the USFS McKenzie River Ranger District. I joined the McKenzie River Fire program as a temporary employee in June of 2004. I began as a crew member of a type three engine team through the end of the season in 2006. At that time I was hired on as the assistant engine captain of engine 11, a FL70 model 80 type three engine. During my three seasons as a temporary I was exposed to opportunities that promoted education in leadership, suppression, and engine operation skills. Over the course of this time we had approximately 30 fires that the engine responded to both on the district and off forest assignments. Some of the roles I took were firefighter type 1 and 2, incident commander type 5, engine operator, and a prescribed fire burn boss type 3. I was also awarded two spot cash awards during my first year for most improved and rookie of the year. During my second season I was awarded another cash spot award for my role during the rescue of an injured YCC crew... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Here I gained even more suppression and leadership experience. I became an engine boss, firing boss, and incident commander type 4. I was able to fight fires all over the country. Some of the regions I was able to fight fire in were the North West, South Texas, the south east, and California. I was the acting captain on a number of off forest dispatches while the captain was on other assignments and gained great experience as a supervisor and leader receiving great evaluations from division superintendents, task force leaders, and district battalion chiefs. During the 2009 season the Willamette national forest, southern cascades district of the Oregon department of forestry, and the Eugene district BLM established a type 3 team where I was given the assignment of primary division group supervisor. • 5. The Effect Of Visitor Interaction On Primate Species In Zoos In the wild, interactions between humans and animals are often limited. In captivity, this dynamic is altered as a result of humans being allowed to be in close proximity to the animals while they are on display. Zoos, especially in Europe and North America, strive to educate the public about their animals and the conservation efforts to help save them in the wild (Hosey, 2005). In order to ensure that visitors leave the zoofeeling as if they can make a difference, visitors need to feel a connection with the animals. A way in which this is done is to design exhibits that put the public closer to the animals. By doing so, it is common that animals in captivity can be subject to interaction with the guests, creating a potential for visitor... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Different populations have been seen reacting negatively, while others have reacted positively or neutrally. In Wells (2005) it was suggested that crowd size had a negative impact on the gorillas at the Belfast Zoological Gardens in Northern Ireland. The gorillas had increased aggression during large crowd sizes and appeared less stressful during low visitor periods. However, some populations of gorillas did not show an increase in undesirable behavior in relation to larger crowd size. In Kuhar (2008) there were no significant findings that suggested crowd size played any role in the behavior of the gorillas. In a study conducted by Ross and Lukas (2006) it was found that during crowds of high density or low density alike, there were no significant differences in gorilla behavior. Interestingly, in Wells (2006) the researchers suggest that some auditory stimulation, such as that from visitors, can be a form of enrichment for the gorillas rather than a source of stress. Similarly, in Stoinski et al., (2012) there were no significant effects of crowd size for some of the behaviors they analyzed. Other behaviors they observed did change in relation to crowd size such as contact aggression and undesirable behavior but those behaviors changes were not seen as significant and it is suggested that crowds may affect some individuals and not ... • 6. Benito Mussolini s Ambiguity Of Fascism Fascism such as that displayed in post World War 1 Italy was in many ways a contradictory ideology; anti modernism contrasted with technological obsession and anti democratic views paired with capitalism. Despite this ambiguity of the fascist ideology, one clear characteristic among almost all fascists throughout history has been a heavy focus on militarism an aspect of Mussolini s Italy which was intrinsically tied to his use of terror and force to achieve fascist political agendas. For evidence of Benito Mussolini s heavy handed political tactics, one must first examine how his fascist party first rose to power in a country which had been a constitutional monarchy for many years prior. • 8. Emotional Analysis Of Ernest Hemingway s A Clean,... In his short story A Clean, Well Lighted Place, Ernest Hemingway, uses his usual style of elegant, yet unembellished, prose to depict one late night interaction between an old man, a young waiter, and an older waiter. The story takes place at a cafГ© in Madrid, during the era following the Lost Generation and is apparent, given the contrasting perspectives of the characters. The part of the story where the young waiter refills the old man s brandy with an agitated demeanor and the old man desires nothing more than to drink continuously, as he does on a nightly basis, illuminates the broader concerns of the of the story. This passage, although centered around the story s supporting characters, unveils the idea of nothingness before the reader s introduction to the word nada. Hemingway s A Clean, Well Lighted Place, is a revelation to the elaborate complexity of emotional fulfillment versus the existential crisis of spiritual and emotional emptiness, between the young and the old, throughout this particular generational gap. Throughout the passage, we see the young waiter go through a wide range of emotions, beginning with him feeling irritated, which becomes perceivable after his initial statement: a terse What do you want? directed at the old man (153). He then becomes condescending, telling the old man that he will be drunk if he continues drinking, knowing that he cannot hear him and that getting drunk is, evidently, the old man s intentions (154). Plantar Flexion Full movement neuromuscular electrical stimulation improves plantar flexor spasticity and ankle active dorsiflexion in stroke patients: a randomized controlled study This was an interesting article. Electrodes were placed over the extensor digitorum longus muscles and the extensor hallicus muscles of post stroke patients with plantar flexor spasticity. Various intensities were tested. • 11. The Right Stuff Sparknotes American Heros in Tom Wolfe s The Right Stuff Tom Wolfe s The Right Stuff depicts the lives of some of America s hottest pilots and its first astronauts. These men include Pete Conrad, Chuck Yeager, John Glenn, Gus Grissom, Wally Shirra, Alan Shepard, Gordon Cooper, Scott Carpenter and Deke Sleyton. Some of these men were hotshot test pilots at Edwards Air Force Base, and some flew cargo planes. Some had impeccable service records, while others hadn t flown in a real dog fight for even a second. Despite these differences in backgrounds and credentials, Tom Wolfeturns each of these nine men into a separate and individualized hero. Chuck Yeager and John Glennare probably the most memorable of the nine pilots in The Right Stuff . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This anecdote occurs at the beginning of the chapter that introduces Chuck Yeager. The placement of this story is important because the reader is made aware of Yeager s influence before he knows who Yeager really is. Wolfe also uses an anecdote to set John Glenn apart form the rest of the pilots. Wolfe describes Glenn s personal exercise by saying, He d be out there in full view, on the circular driveway of the Bachelor Officers Quarters, togged out in his sweat suit, his great freckled face flaming red...there was no end to it, in front of everybody (110). Glenn s activities were definitely unusual. The astronauts of the Mercury Project were required to do four hours of exercise per week. John Glenn far exceeded these guidelines. But according to Wolfe, most fighter pilots, at least those who have the right stuff, put exercise very low on their list of priorities. This is an important point because Glenn wasn t a typical fighter jock. It was very obvious to the other pilots that he was very different. Another way that Wolfe develops each astronaut into a hero is by revealing details about his personality through his words. For example, Chuck Yeager is asked about how he feels about being left out of the Mercury Project. Inflating his own ego, Yeager mentions his own ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. The Fall Of The Roman Republic Tiberius and his brother Gaius were regarded in Roman tradition as the initiators of the revolution which led to the breakdown of the Republic. (Roebuck, 1966:506) The fall of the Roman Republic occurred during the late second century BC and resulted in various leading figures emerging such as Tiberius Sempronius Gracchus. Tiberius Gracchus was largely responsible for creating and initiating a long term political crisis in Rome in the early first century through his land reformations and desire to aid the poor. However, his intentions led not only to political arguments but violence within Roman society. This will be demonstrated through the analysis of ancient sources, discussion of the historical context, Tiberius Gracchus motives, actions and contribution to the fall of the Roman Republic. Much has been written about Tiberius in both modern and ancient sources, although some are divided on his motives while others strive for his selflessness. Orosius, an ancient source concerning the Roman Republic stated that Tiberius was angry with the nobility because of the Numantine Treaty, decided that the land possessed hither to by private individuals, should be divided amongst the people, and this caused him to reform against the Senate (Bishop, 1988). Another solution to improve the power factor is to insert a power converter in series with the armature circuit. In this way, full control is obtained over the induction generator performance, but at the cost of a converter capable of handling the full power of the generator. 4.4.1.1 Squirrel Cage Induction Generator A squirrel cage induction generator is an asynchronous machine, with a squirrel cage rotor and stator, which is directly connected to the grid. The wind turbine rotor will be directly coupled to the generator through a gearbox, which matches the rotational speed of blades with that of the generator. Essentially this is a constant speed wind turbine because the power converted from the wind is limited by designing the turbine rotor in such a way that its efficiency decreases under high wind speeds. Induction generator is the most common generator in wind energy systems because of its simplicity, ruggedness, low maintenance and low cost. The main drawback in induction generator is its consumption of reactive power for producing the real power. The VAR compensation can be done with the help of fixed capacitance connected near the Induction generator. The fixed capacitance method of VAR compensation is generally done when the torque applied to the induction generator is constant. In practice, most wind farms have fixed capacitor banks installed to fulfill ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Utalitarian Approach to Moral Obligation Wand(1979) expounds on Hume ethical theory in relation to moral obligation is a theory of good and evil rather than one of duty and obligation , according to Wand (1956:55): this statement is quite erroneous for Hume does not merely wish to discover the foundation of our moral actions . Hume account of how motives prompt men to moral actions is quite complex, but Wand (1979) also asserts that Hume distinguishes between two basic type of action to make it more understandable. The first type are those action which men will perform without the aid or influence of reason or custom; the second are those action which it can be expected men will normally perform with the aid or influence of reason or custom. Hume distinguishes these two types of action in terms of the specifically moral nature of their motive, whether or not the action is done from a sense of duty; thus for Hume, there are four classes of action: The first, are those actions prompted by the natural or moral motives; The second are those actions prompted by artificial, non moral motive; third; those actions promoted by artificial moral motives. In consideration of his account of moral motivation; Hume s ultimate intention is to show that it cannot be a natural duty to carry out certain types of obligation such as being just or keeping promises. • 31. Ecotourism vs Volunteer Tourism The discussion on ecotourism and its essence has led to over eighty different definitions of the topic (Fennell, 2008). However, one of the most used and comprehensive definitions is reported by Weaver (ibidem). It describes ecotourism as a form of tourism that fosters awareness, education and enjoyment of the natural environment and the local values in a sustainable way (Weaver, 2001a:15). Hence, ecotourism, while thriving for profitability, aims to promote education and cultural awareness of destinations without compromising their ecosystems. Eco tourists demand for more authentic and meaningful forms of travel and; according to Orams (1996) (in Weaver, 2001a), they can be classified in two different categories: hard and soft ones. The hard eco tourists believe in radical self commitment with their destination, in order to ameliorate the natural environment (give back something) through not mediated (Weaver, 2001b:106), challenging physical activities immersed in the site s nature (ibidem). However, the soft visitors have shallower levels of commitment to the environment than hard eco tourists. Humphrey Bissell, of Charleston, bought part of the McCombie Mine and brought with him not only new technology but also men experienced in South American mining. Many of the immigrants who came to North Carolina during the gold rush were single men young or middle aged, ambitions, and hardworking. Unaccompanied by women or children, they were able to move freely from one mining area to another. When gold was found in other southern states and then in California in 1848, many moved out of the area. The Cornish miners, however, had often moved with their families. They were known to be skilled, superstitious, clannish, and strongly Methodist. Unlike the single prospectors who followed the gold to California, the Yukon, and beyond, many of these Cornish miners and their families stayed in North Carolina, in the lode mining centers of Charlotte and especially Gold Hill in Rowan County. The Cornish culture is a unique culture within Great Britain, much like the Welsh or Scottish, with its own dialect and customs. It is the basis of school/home communication that provides parents a window into what is happening in your child s classroom. Homework should be an opportunity for parents to get involved and add to the material that covered in class that day. Education and school are important, but there needs to be a difference between a healthy amount and challenge in order to learn and improve. Many believe it should have a reasonable time limit. Homework should not be a punishment for any child or should not be busy work. It should stretch their minds not break their spirits. Homework was thrown into the spotlight in 1957 when the Soviet Sputnik program occurred. After the Russians first sent a mission into space, there was a general feeling in America that students were under prepared, and homework was seen as a tool to improve the educational preparation of students and ensure America s safety and development (Maltese, Tai and Fan). Sputnik challenged America to re examine its education system. Experts called for a tougher curriculum and more homework for all levels. Discovery can be achieved through unexpected means or deliberate expeditionary, whether it be tangible or a fragment of our thoughts/imagination/emotions. Poems The Tiger and Young Girl At A Window by Rosemary Dobson and poem Invictus by William Ernest Henleythoroughly explore this concept via their ideology of human nature and its effect on discovery. Rosemary Dobson s The Tiger delicately examines the notion of discovery as a medium of freedom, relating back to her own mental captivity similar to a tiger in a cage. The extended metaphor allows careful analysis of the sub lying plot describing a poet s sense of discovery through their imagination. Through Dobson s use of emotive language in smouldering with rage, the audience can better understand the poet s deeply felt emotion, being unable to write to her heart s content. Behind the black barred page further accentuates, assisted by the alliteration, the statement s metaphoric value of remaining captive under frustration and oppression, destroying any belief or hope of achieving freedom to discover. Additionally, the hyperbole in the celestial frame of He rakes the sky and stars...and is not done, emphasises the search and will to discover, explaining that Dobson will do anything for her freedom, in order to achieve self gratification. The Letter Of The Hebrews The Letter to the Hebrews was clearly written in regards to a specific group of Christians who were under some type of dilemma in regards to their religion (Rayburn 1490). Most everything else about this letter though is unclear. The true author of the letter, audience, and location of this audience all remain uncertain to this day. The letter has been attributed to the apostle Paul, however early scholars still cannot be sure if he was the true author. They actually believe that it is more likely that he is not the author. Even though Paul has been credited with writing this letter, there are many reason why scholars think that this appears to be more and more unlikely. For one, all of Paul s other letters indicate that he wrote them. It is not a characteristic of him to keep his letters anonymous. Another indication that scholars have examined is that the overall style of writing and content in this letter is much different than in any of the others. In addition, Hebrews 2:3 seems extremely unlikely to be able to connect up with Galatians 1:12 in the sense of where the messages were first received (Rayburn 1490). Hebrews 13:23 reference to Timothy gives us insight that he was a friend of both the writer and the readers, which can limit the author to someone who was a member of Paul s circle. Alighieri s devotion to Beatrice is portrayed in the painting as Dante kneeling before Beatrice, as if praying to her. Dante s love for Beatrice was divine and unconditional, and was eternally honoured by his portrayal of Beatrice, the guide to Dante in Heaven in his most famous work of literature, The Divine Comedy . Why did Dante never let his love for Beatrice be known? As per tradition, wealthy Italian families children would be betrothed from early childhood, and Dante was promised to marry the daughter of a family friend before he met Beatrice at age nine. Also, Dante s love for Beatrice was never intended to be known, which was common in the 14th century, and was called courtly love. The painting is describing the moment Beatrice first spoke to Dante, nine years after their first meeting, as described in Alghieri s poem La Vita Nuova . It would be out of line for Dante to profess his love for Beatrice, as she was a divine being that was too perfect for the world they lived in. Dante never expected Beatrice to answer his affections, and even in The Divine Comedy Dante only honours Beatrice s perfection, but never asks Beatrice to acknowledge his love. Therefore, I will discuss one theory in depth since I believe it will suffice. In this framework, I will discuss the challenges and varying beliefs with the ideas involved. The goal of my paper is to understand the doctrine of eternityand find how this changes my understanding of God. Then I will discuss how this issue influences my approach to God, and to my ministry. First, however, I will explain the need to uncover the idea of eternalism. We will now proceed. Why might one explore the idea of how God functions in time? It is extremely difficult to ignore questions after they have been asked. Historically, questions have been the cause of councils and creeds that now exist as essential dogmas of the Christian faith. Without questioning, what is real and what actually exists? The difference can only be distinguished by those who question. While it might not be explicitly stated, the idea of eternalism is biblical. Social and Reproductive Monogamy in Vole Rats Social and Reproductive Monogamy in Vole Rats Reproductive monogamy is defined as an exclusive sexual relationship between a female and a male based on their sexual interactions. Social Monogamy refers to male and female s social living arrangement without sexual interactions. It refers to the living patterns, raising offsprings, and obtaining food. Monogamy is common in birds, but also occurs in invertebrates. Why would a male mammal choose to mate with one female when he can mate with more than one? Why would the male stay around instead of finding another female to live with? Many researchers have attempted to answer this question of why some mammals prefer monogamy over polygamy. Vole rats, one of the species that perform monogamous mating, demonstrate pair boding. Male and female pairs of vole rats have been observed together over several months, and the males stay with females even when the female is not reproductively active. A typical vole family in the wild is almost always consisted of one male, one female, and their offspring. In addition, unlike other species in which females are the only ones taking care of the offspring, vole rats share parental roles and even build nests together.
