Advantages And Disadvantages Of QIP
The graphical representation clearly shows that QIP became very popular when it was introduced
in 2006 with the investment of Rs. 4,963 crore by 25 issues. Moreover, when there was an
economic dip in 2008 2009 it was very helpful in gaining financial stability in the market.
5.Conditions
To accomplish a qualified institutions placement by a listed issuer following conditions should be
satisfied
a)Shareholders should pass a special resolution for approval of QIP
b)The equity shares of same class as proposed to be allotted with QIP should be listed on a
recognized stock exchange with nation wide trading for a period of at least one year prior to the
date when notice was issued to the shareholders.
c)It should comply with the required minimum ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
10.Tenure and transferability of eligible securities
The maximum tenure of eligible securities issued by QIP is 60 months from date of allotment.
There is no lock in period if eligible securities are listed on a recognized stock exchange otherwise it
cannot be sold for a period of one year from date of allotment.
11.Advantages of QIP
Minimum Regulations and Procedural requirements
As compared to other placements like IPO and FPO, QIP is less cumbersome. This is because
there is no need to file pre issue document with the capital markets regulator. Approval of SEBI is
also not required. However, it is required to file a placement document with the stock exchanges
which encompasses details of the issue.
Time saving
Minimum regulations and procedural requirements make QIP one of the fastest methods of
raising funds. The best example of this is Power Trading Company (PTC India) who raised QIP
issue of Rs. 500 crore subscribed in 4 hours of its opening.
Cost effective
Less procedural requirement and fast process of QIP, makes it less expensive than other methods of
raising capital.

Food Will Win The War Chapter 1 Summary
Ian Mosby s Food Will Win the War is a comprehensive survey of the policy and social culture
around food in Canada during the Second World War. Divided into five distinct chapters Mosby s
central argument is that food served as a catalyst for cultural unity, evolution of political policy
and definition of gender roles during the period of the war. The five chapters of FoodWill Win the
War are divided largely thematically rather than chronologically. Chapter s One and Five each
stretch back a little farther into the prewar and postwar period respectively to provide a proper
narrative on the resolution of the malnutrition crisis in Canada during this time. That said both
bookend chapters discuss the period of the war proper and also carry... Show more content on

Essentially covering the same timeline the chapters differ by covering different thematic content.
Chapter Two largely deals with the rationing and price control Canadians faced during this
period. The key aspect of the culture surrounding these policies Mosby discusses is the
remarkable popularity of these measures and the implications of that popularity on Canadian
culture and politics. The argument is made that the measures lead to an enjoyed level of equality
and unity amongst Canadians from disparate backgrounds. This idea of national unity is also
supported by the central topics of Chapter Three in which Mosby tackles the concept of the
housoldier. This is the term used to discuss the role of Canadian women in volunteer labour and
consumer practices centering around, unsurprisingly, food. This chapter is probably the closest to
what one would imagine a book entitled food will win the war would contain but Mosby heavily
incorporates social and gender history in order to present the new situation of women during the
course of the war. Similarly Chapter Four also expresses the experiences of women but does so
through different mediums. Heavily incorporating primary sources Mosby examines recipes (the
majority of which written by women) published in newspapers and cookbooks in the time period.
The blending of cultural and economic boundaries is used by to reiterate the idea of a national
unity and equality that simply did not transfer into the post war

Analysis Of Sleepwalking Defense By Lindsay Lyon
After reading Lindsay Lyon s article about sleepwalking defense , it s clear this is a controversial
pled. The thought of being able to do anything in your sleep is an outrageous concept to grasp, let
alone use as a defense in a court room. Out of seven different cases in this article, there s only two
that I could come to terms with. State v. Bradley and Pennsylvania v. Ricksgers both involved the
murderof their significant others with a single gunshot during an unconscious state. In my opinion,
these cases are most relevant to the sleepwalking defense because it s more believable to think
one action took place before someone waking up then multiple actions. The Regina v. Parks case
was a far stretch to try and use sleepwalking defense.

Evaluation Of A Exercise Based Interventions
Inter individual variability in the direction and magnitude of weight change in response to
supervised exercise based interventions has been well documented (Table 1). Even in the highly
controlled environment of an isolated experimental station over an 84 day period exercise induced
weight loss ranged between 3 and 12 kg [48]. More recent studies showed that certain participants
even gain weight in response to supervised exerciseinterventions [42,49]. Accordingly, changes in
fat mass and fat free mass have been shown to vary considerably [36,42]. King et al. showed a
roughly 50:50 split between so called responders (i.e. participants who achieve expected weight loss
) and non responders (i.e. participants who experience a small amount of weight loss or weight
gain) [36]. Other studies indicate that a majority of participants displays some form of
compensatory adaptation with a ratio of responders to non responders of 1:2 [46,49]. Even though
there is, most likely, considerable inter individual variability in metabolic adaptations in response
to exercise [42,48], success in weight loss interventions has been largely attributed to behavioral
compensation such as a decline in non exercise PA and/or an increase in energy intake [22,36,46];
in addition to an obvious association with adherence to the exercise protocol. In fact, it has been
argued that the individual variability in weight loss can be entirely attributed to the variability in
non exercise PA [46,50].

William Shakespeare s Lord Of The Flies
Henry enters the court with his different rulers. Suffolk has come back from France with
Margaret, whom he shows to the lord as his new wife. He additionally brings a peace giveaway
from France, which Gloucester peruses. He flounders when he goes to an entry about the
French keeping the regions of Anjou and Maine consequently for Margaret. Gloucester is
disturbed with this loss of area, once hard won by Henry V and by alternate rulers in late French
wars. He estimates the up and coming loss of France and takes off. Beaufort talks against
Gloucester, recommending to Buckingham and Somerset that they plot to remove him. Salisbury
and Warwick chat with York about attempting to choke the impact of Suffolk and Beaufort, two
eager and prideful nobles. York, took off alone, talks about his confidence in his case to the
throne and his disappointment that Henry energetically permits handles that are legitimately his
own to be come back to the French. Yet he can t make his cases yet; he wants to favour Warwick
and Salisbury. Gloucester identifies with his wife, the Duchess. He had a fantasy that his staff of
office was broken, yet she envisioned that she was going to be delegated ruler. He encourages her
not to discuss her unbalanced desire, since she is now the second lady in the kingdom, behind
Margaret. Hume enters, and the Duchess and Hume examine her passion to contract a witch and
seer to call upon spirits to get some information about the fate of Henry s rule. Solicitors go

Song Vs Poetry
The threat of death often moves one to fulfill their life, and can inspire poetry. This theme of a
joyous life before death is seen in both the poem Death by Rainer Maria Rilke and the song We
Might Be Dead Tomorrow by Soko. Although these two pieces follow the same theme, they are
widely different in how they include poetic devices in the piece. Song and poetryare viewed
differently considering that a song often focuses on the music behind the lyrics more than the
lyrics themselves, whereas a poem is focused on using words and poetic devices to fulfill its
purpose and theme. Claire Dederer, a writer from the Poetry Foundation, suggests that Song lyrics
do a fine imitation of poetry, but they re not quite the same thing. Lyrics are a... Show more content

To emphasize their ideas, the artist uses a wide range of repetition in the song. Repetition is
typically used to influence the audience to detect the artist s main purpose of writing the poem.
The more it is repeated, the more that idea resonates with the reader. Often, Human beings
somehow need to see, hear and do things again and again in order to acquire any kind of growth
or self improvement. Repetition is essential (Dawson 1). Soko epitomizes repetition in their song
to do exactly that. The line Cause soon enough we ll die is repeated 6 times within the song to
emphasize that they must live before death takes over (Soko line 23). The song also uses casual
diction, like the speaker is directing their ideas towards a loved one. For instance, one stanza of the

I Want To Wear Black Armbands In Des Moines, Iowa
What if you were suspended from school because of something you were wearing? Not only was
the clothing or item appropriate, it was something you were fighting for or something you
believe is right. Is this fair or okay for this to happen? There is a specific incident that this
situation happened to a few teenagers in Des Moines, Iowa in December of 1965. A group of
students wanting to wear black armbands throughout the holiday season was in for a wake up
call. (FORTAS) These plans and or idea were quickly shot down by the high school principals.
The principals caught wind of the teen s plan, so there was a meeting a few days beforehand. The
talk of the meeting was to ensure the teens that if they were to wear the black armbands a few...

If students were shouting and protesting in classrooms, the school would be able to step in because
it causes other students to be distracted from their schoolwork. (CALAGNA)
Has freedom of speech changed since then? Some schools nowadays punish kids for online
social media comments. (WHEELER) For example, if a student posts something on Facebook,
and another kid comments on that status with a rude remark, the kid who posted it could take
that to the principal s office and the kid who commented on it could get in trouble. Some could
say it was cyber bullying, some could say it was just a witty/rude remark, not meant to be taken
seriously. Is this a violation of free speech/expression? Another reason school authority figures
have a lot of power over whether or not a student gets in trouble for what they say, posts, or wears,
is that the school can discipline a student just because they personally or morally did not like the
comment/post. Most of the time, the kids that get in trouble for something they post are in their
own home, on their own laptop, during their free time outside of school. So why does the school
have so much power over these situations the majority of the time? The digital age, with its
wonderful capacity to democratize speech, is so important to students rights, but also carries new
and interesting threats to students rights, Tinker says. If we don t encourage young people to use

After some research, I found out that cardinal sine could not be solved by elementary means and
that its integral was, in fact, a crucial part of the Gibbs phenomenon, which will be expanded upon
in the Applications section (Pg. 8) of this investigation. My aim for this investigation is to prove the
integral of cardinal sine to be sine integral and to approximate five (5) values of the sine integral
function. Afterwards, I will show how this is relevant in both mathematics and other, more
practical, applications. Exploration In order to organize the mathematical exploration most
effectively, the exploration will begin with the following problem: Prove that ∫в
–’sinвЃЎx/x is
equal to Si (x). Approximate Si (0), Si (ПЂ/6), Si (ПЂ/4), Si (ПЂ/3), and Si (ПЂ/2) using a Taylor
polynomial of order 3 at 0 for f(x) = Si (x). In order to verify the results of the approximations,
Wolfram Alpha, an online calculator capable of processing the sine integral function, will be used.
To begin with, the Taylor series representation of the sine integral function is as such:
Si (x)=∑_(n=0 )^в€
ћв–’(( 1)^n x^(2n+1))/(2n+1)(2n+1)! At this point, it is necessary to find the
Taylor series representation of sinвЃЎx/x. First, the Taylor series representation of sin (x) is:
∑_(n=0)^в€
ћв–’(гЂ–( 1)гЂ—^n x^(2n+1))/(2n+1)!
Therefore, sinвЃЎx/x is equal to:
1/x ∑_(n=0)^в€
ћв–’(гЂ–( 1)гЂ—^n x^(2n+1))/(2n+1)!
Which is equal to:
∑_(n=0)^в€
ћв–’(гЂ–( 1)гЂ—^n x^(2n+1))/x(2n+1)!

Zora Neale Hurston Identity
During the time of Zora Neale Hurston, the cultural and social movement of the Harlem
Renaissance inspired a new black cultural identity. The Harlem Renaissance was a blossoming of
African American culture, particularly in the creative arts, and the most influential movement in
African American literary history during the early twentieth century (Hutchinson). During this
time, blacks were on a journey of self discovery, remaking their collective image to define the New
Negro. Black female writers of this time, such as Zora Neale Hurston, wrote about the everyday
reality and struggles that average black women endured and conquered in order to move away
from Old Negro ideas. Hurston believed the past image of the black individual to be degrading...

Rise Of Abortion In The United States
Every day the number of abortion cases increases. Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy.
Abortions have become a trend among the youth of the 20th century. Although an abortion in the
United States is legal it can regulate and limited in individual states. Abortion is wrong and cruel
there are many positive options to make before taking that plan of action.
There have been an increasing number of abortion cases throughout the United States. Between
2000 and 2008 the abortion rate has increased 18 percent among poor women. Nearly 70 percent
of abortions are for women who are making 11,000 a year or less, and are hovering right over the
poverty line. Lower income single women tend to get pregnant more than middle class single
women. The reason is that lower income single women have less self esteem about their self. The
reason for some women to have abortion is the responsibilities of parenthood and family life. Non
Hispanic white women account for 36 percent of abortions, non Hispanic black women for 30
percent Hispanic women for 25 percent and women of other races for 9 percent. ( http:/

Foreign Direct Investment By Multinational Corporations
Developing countries lag behind the rest of the world in many aspects of life including economy,
education, and welfare. Achieving progress in any of these three areas is important in getting these
countries on par or at least closer to the standard of living present in developed nations. Numerous
of hypotheses have been posed to tackle and address these issues. This paper examines the aspect of
improving the economy and whether or not foreign direct investmentby multinational corporations
would benefit developing countries. Some may argue, including the renowned artist Frida Kahlo
that foreign direct investments may actually lead to a decline in culture and exploitation. However,
this paper argues that the economy in developing countries could be significantly improved by
properly introducing foreign direct investment by multinational corporations. Foreign direct
investment (FDI) made by multinational corporations would spur the economy in developing
countries which in turn would lay the groundwork for improvements in other important aspects
including education and welfare without a decline in culture and exploitation of citizens.
Developing countries are stuck in a cycle of poverty that can t be broken from within the domestic
economy due to an insufficient supply of investment available in these countries to raise the
productivity and income levels of workers. The only way to break the cycle of poverty is through
investment from multinational corporations. FDI is an

Lust of Power Depicted in William ShakespeareВґs Macbeth Essay
Murder, ghosts, and floating daggers are the usual attractions for most that read William

memorable world of Macbethwith a mysterious and sinister atmosphere, incorporating diabolical

According to Lady Macbeth s conspiracy, Macbeth murders the king and despite his guilt Macbeth
concedes to his wife s chiding and assurance, My hands are of your color, but I shame
To wear a heart so white. I hear a knocking
At the south entry. Retire we to our chamber.
A little water clears us of this deed.
How easy is it, then! Your constancy
Hath left you unattended. (2.2)
However this initial step of using violent means to gain power makes it all the easier to use the
same violent means to maintain power.
From gaining to maintaining their power, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth continually seek out
darkness to aid them in their evil endeavors. Once king, Macbeth allows himself to be utterly
enveloped by this darkness and once consumed, he is prepared to eliminate any who would
intercept his newly obtained power and thus, to squash any hope of redemption. Malcolm describes
this by saying, But Macbeth is. [treacherous]
A good and virtuous nature may recoil
In an imperial charge. But I shall crave your pardon.
That which you are, my thoughts cannot transpose.
Angels are bright still, though the brightest fell.
Though all things foul would wear the brows of grace,
Yet grace must still look so. (4.3)
However, this invited evil claims its toll on the royal couple and in the end it is clear to see that the
two have been totally contorted through their efforts to maintain their stolen power. Lady Macbeth

Analysis the Secret Life of Walter Mitty Essay
Analysis: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

ENG 125 Introduction to Literature
Instructor Alfaro
April 18, 2011
The short story that I will do an analysis on is the Secret Life of Walter Mitty, written by James
Thurber in March of 1939. This story centers around the hilarious and amusing daydreams of Walter
Mitty an ordinary man, who resides in Waterbury, Connecticut, with his overbearing, nagging wife
Mrs. Mitty. Throughout this short story Mitty is characterized as being a pathetic, timid man, who
daydreams to deal with situations, and conflicts that arise in his life with his wife and others he
encounters on a daily basis.
The genre of this short story would be comedy, Thurber s writing style is quiet creative and ... Show

Mitty s second daydream occurs after he drives past a hospital on his way to the parking lot, he
thinks he is a famous surgeon, heroic character, who saves the day. Mitty is awakened from his
daydream only to be told by the parking attendant that he is entering the parking lot the wrong
way. Third daydream, Mitty daydreams that he is a witness in a courtroom trial, walking down the
street trying to remember the other item his wife instructed him to buy. The fourth and final
daydream Mitty thinks he s a captain in a war plane, he was awakened by his wife, Mrs. Mitty in
a hotel lobby and confronted about not wearing his overshoes, and why he hiding in that particular
chair, Mitty replies to his wife that does it ever occur to her that he is thinking. (Clugston, 2010).
Mitty is saying to his wife, he has a mind of his own and that he can think for himself.
Throughout Mitty s babblings and day dreams, he is a weak, timid man dependent on a strong
woman (Mann, 1982). Most importantly I can identify with Mitty s daydreaming not as hilarious
and outrageous as his are, but we all have a need to slip away from the hoarse realities of life and
escapism in the form of daydreaming.

How Learning Can Play An Instrument
CHAPTER II
Review of Literature
Introduction
The literature reviewed in this chapter gives a description and synthesis in the areas central to this
study: how learning to play an instrument transfers to cognitive development in other subjects, the
progression for learning to play a musical instrument, and methods that have been successful in
assessing student s mastery in learning to play an instrument. At the conclusion of this chapter will
be brief overview of the methodology that will be used by the researcher in their research.
How learning to play an instrument transfers to cognitive development in other subjects. Music
programs play several roles within a school. To maximize the benefits of any educational
experience it is critical that students are able to transfer their content knowledge between subjects.
The study of music is no exception. Peterson and Madsen (2010) explain that when students are
able to apply knowledge they have learned in one subject to another subject they are much more
likely to maintain that knowledge, and this is magnified when the content is applied in creative
ways. It is also the educator s responsibility to help their students see where and how content can be
applied to other areas. Peterson and Madsen (2010) state that, The teacher must practice making
connections himself or herself before demonstrating this skill for the class (Effective Transfer
section, para. 23).
For some students a fine arts course, like music, is a

Family In The Count Of Monte Cristo
In the film The Count of Monte Cristo, based on the novel of the same name by Alexander
Dumas, the idea of family serves as serious matter that is capable of dictating the allegiances and
motivations for the primary characters of the film. Furthermore, the idea of family is also depicted
in the film, as a liability for the characters and a vulnerability that others in the film exploit. Within
this examples can be seen in Villefort s action of imprisoning Edmond to protect his father, Albert s
change of heart when it is revealed that Edmond is his father, and the class discrimination that
Edmond encounters prior to his imprisonment. Edmond s imprisonment at the hands of Villefort is
a defining moment of the film and is one motivated entirely by Villefort s filial ties. During this
scene, Edmond shows evidence of a Bonapartist conspiracy through a letter given to him by
Napoleon Bonaparte. Initially, Villefort realizes Edmond s innocence, but upon inspecting the letter
it is revealed to him that the its contents incriminate his father. When this is revealed to him,
Villefort burns the letter and imprisons Edmond for life in order to silence him. Through this, it is
seen that the idea of family is capable of drastically altering the goals of characters, as Villefort
immediately realizes that he must destroy... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Did Akhenaten Change Egyptian Religion
Akhenaten was an Egyptian king during the New Kingdom and he tried to change the Egyptian
religion. In the readings the document titled The Great Hymn to the Aten describes why king
Akhenaten tried to change the ancient religion, and why this ended up being very important later
on. What he tried to do was change the Egyptian religion by introducing something similar to
monotheism. Though the main reason for this significant change was, according to the readings,
He ordered this change to downgrade the influence of the rich priests of Amen Re, the local deity
from Thebes who rose to national prominence in the New Kingdom and became Re (the sun god)

Fiber Optic And Its Impact On Technology
Fiber optic in Communication Fiber optics are tiny threads of glasses that are arranged in optical

in communication to enable transmission of information over long distances with minimal
disruption and loss of data and hence widely used all over the world. Fiber optic has a broad
usage in data distribution telephony and broadband distribution among others. Today, it is one of
the rapidly advancing technology mainly because of it benefits such as stable operation, small size
and efficiency among others. However, fiber optic has come a long journey through complex
advancement to what it is today. Nonetheless, the increased demand for optical fiberand the
advancing technology have greatly shaped the continuing development of fiber optic for future use.
Fiber optic has been widely adopted because of its benefits as compared to other mediums. First
and foremost, Fiber optic can be used to transmit signals over long distance. The use of optical
cables in Fiber technology allows signals to be transmitted over long distance and maintain the
integrity of such signals as compared to metallic cables. Secondly, optical cable allows
transmission of broad bandwidth. Optical fiber are usually small in diameter and are light hence it
is easy to install as it uses less space. Broadband can be transmitted through coaxial cable or radio

Analysis Of The Hero s Journey
Small or big, everything we do in life is part of our journey. Reg Harris The Hero s Journey
describes the voyage one takes throughout life to grow and change as a person. He breaks the
journey down into eight steps leading to the return. It starts out as a goal that isn t always easy
to reach, one goes through hardship and personal doubts only to succeed and become a better
person. An example of this journey can be found in the movie, Troy through the character
Achilles. Achilles is a strong fearless warrior in the movie, Troy who goes through The Hero s
Journey and ends up with a change of heart. As the movie begins we are introduced to Achilles
as a fierce and strong warrior, fearing no one. He begins the first step of Harris journey, also
known as the call, when Odysseus goes to talk to him. Odysseus visits Achilles to ask him to
fight in the war in Troy. He describes the war as great and in need of their best warrior, the
perfect invitation into his journey. The second step in Harris journey is the threshold, where we
encounter obstacles and doubts. One of the main examples of threshold in Achilles life would be
his mother. When Achilles brings up that he has been invited to war his mother gives him two
options. Those options are to stay where he is a live a normal long life with a wife children and
happiness where not many would remember his legacy, or to go to war and possibly die fighting
but be remembered for years to come. At that point Achilles started

CГґte d Ivoire became independent, it resulted in a dramatic spike in production that would help

Jacobsen, Kent, Lee, Mather (2011) stated, Since women live longer than men in the United
States, women will continue to make up a majority of the older population in the foreseeable
future (pg. 3). Whereas, this age distribution among men and women are expected to remain
approximately the same between 2009 and 2030, there will be notable changes in the age and
gender gap by 2050 as the gap grows smaller (Jacobsen, Kent, Lee, Mather, 2011). Furthermore,
according to Vincent Velkoff (2010), by the year 2042 the United States will become more
racially and ethnically diverse with the combined minority population expected to become the
majority. Thus, as people in the United States age over the next several decades, the older
population will also become a more racially and ethnically diverse group. In addition, the overall
age structure of the population is expected to change a great deal over the next four decades
(Vincent Velkoff, 2010). This will pose even more challenges to policy makers and programs
designed to help the elderly like Medicare and Social Security. Therefore, being able to project the
size and structure of the older population, in regards to age, sex, race, and Hispanic origin is not
only important to public interest, but also private both socially and economically (Vincent Velkoff,

Maxim In The Wagon Mound
1.The main purpose of the maxim is to avoid injustice to the plaintiff as otherwise the plaintiff
would be required to prove the details of the cause of the accident, which he may not know. As
stated by NH Chan JCA in Teoh Guat Looi v Ng Hong Guan, res ipsa loquitur was in essence no
more than a common sense approach to the effect of the evidence in certain circumstances. It means
that a plaintiff prima facieestablishes negligencewhere it is not possible for him to prove precisely

which can be seen in Re Polemis and Furness, Withy Co Ltd. However, the test rests on the fault

Porphyrin
There are many unique compounds that can be synthesized using methods of chemistry that are
serve as biological importance in the human body. Porphyrins are an example of one of these
compounds and it helps create many substances utilized by the body, like hemoglobin (National

metals to form metalloporphyrins, for example if magnesium s the metal mixed with the
porphyrin it can create chlorophyll (Weldegirma, 2014). An important characteristic to porphyrin
is that it is aromatic and this is determined by utilizing Huckel s rule. Huckel s rule simply uses
two different formulas, 4n+2 and 4n, and the amount of pi electrons present in a compound to
determine if a compound is either aromatic or non aromatic. One must simply count up the
amount of delocalized pi electrons present and if it is satisfied by 4n+2 it is aromatic, but if it
satisfied by 4n then it is nonaromatic. For example, porphyrin has 18 delocalized pi electrons, it
cannot be nonaromatic because if one... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Bookstore went missing in January 2016. Known for gossipy titles about political scandals and
other sensitive issues about the Communist Party of China, the Causeway Bay Bookstore attracts
lots of mainland Chinese tourists in Hong Kong. Therefore, when the news of the bookshop s
workers has gone missing came out, the general HK public felt shocked and appalled. Pro
democracy lawmakers in HK believe that these booksellers were kidnapped and smuggled to
mainland Chinafor political investigation. Book sold at the Causeway Bay Bookstore are banned
in the mainland, but are available in HK, where freedom of the press and other civil liberties are
enjoyed by its citizens, privileges that are unseen in mainland China( Hong Kong Unsettled, 2016).
Moreover, China s own police force, called public security, does not have rights to act in HK
territory, because HK self governs with a different set of laws, and its own police force, and
special ops, but no army, nor are foreign embassies allowed to be set up in HK (consulates are set
up instead), which causes the HK people who enjoys their degree of independence from the
mainland more worried, concerned, and terrified by such event of potential suppression of freedom
in HK, and they see it as an attempt of hegemony, both political and cultural, by the mainland China
to HK.

The Fairie Queene Analysis
Skill of the Week: Reading for Women in Power
Throughout time, Chasity is a virtue of positive connotation but seems to have a fluctuating
denotation. In our modern world, the Urban Dictionary website defines chastity as more than just
abstinence. It s choosing not to have sex because you recognize the value of your own sexuality.
(UrbanDictionary.com). This definition allows for some leeway as it leaves room for possible
intercourse as long as it is valued. However, the reputable Oxford Dictionary narrows the meaning
to The state or practice of refraining from extramarital, or especially from all, sexual intercourse.
(OxfordDictionary.com) This Middle English definition leaves no room for hanky panky. In the
Fairie Queene, Edmund Spenser uses three predominate characters to create a Spenserian definition
of chastity.
In Canto 4, Spencer introduces the character Florimell. At that time, she is being pursued by
Arthur and Guyon (3.4.12). Furthermore, in Canto 5, more drama arises when Arthur learns that
Florimell is searching for her beloved Marinell (3.5.2). Florimell is noted as the most beautiful
female character in the epic and spends much of her time running away from almost all of the male
characters within the poem because they are in love with her. She relies on her ability to flee from
men with lustful intentions. This character shows how Spenser defines chastity as purity and
innocence as Florimell flees from temptation instead of taking it on like a modern day

Essay on Manifest Destiny and American Politics
During the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries the United States saw many problems
come and go. Some problems were more important than others, however all led to further division
of American politics. The most divisive issue in American politics during this time frame was the
idea of Manifest Destiny, or territorialexpansion.
Manifest Destiny was the idea that it was the United States destiny to take over all of North
America from the Atlantic to the Pacific. Most of the public was in favor of territorial expansion,
though some politicians felt it contradicted the constitution.
Strict constructionists were against territorial expansion, while loose constructionists felt expansion
was the United States destiny. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the supporters of Manifest Destiny was, democrat, James Polk who served as president
from 1844 to 1848.
Polk was strongly in favor of expanding the United States to the Pacific. This opinion won him the
election of 1844. That year Henry Clay, a well known and loved figure in American politics, ran and
was expected to blow, little known, Polk of the charts. The only problem was Clay was nervous
about territorial expansion. He did not want was with Mexico and was unsure of the
constitutionality of expanding. Polk won because the majority of the public believed in Manifest
Destiny.
Along with influencing presidential elections, Manifest Destiny played a role in the slavery issue.
Entering the mid eighteen hundreds slavery was a very sensitive subject, and some of the bad
feelings that caused this sensitivity were caused by territorial expansion. With more lands being
acquired the number of slave state and free state representatives in Congress became unbalanced.
This caused great distress among the senators and representatives. For instance, free state members
of Congress began accusing the slave state members of conspiracies. One such accusation was
made by Charles Sumner. He proposed the idea that southerners wanted to acquire more land so
they could implant slavery in the territories. With more slave oriented territories that would
eventually became slave states, the South would have control of Congress. This is

Commodities And The Stock Market
When comes to commodities and the stock market, investors are quick to blame oil prices for
causing market volatility. Granted this is case more often than not, other commodities such as
corn and gold have a tremendous impact on daily stock prices. Global commodities are typically
broken down into 4 basic headers; energy, metals, agriculture, meat livestock, and consumer.
Energy, as we know, watch the most heavily scrutinized assets including oil and natural gases.
Metals, on the other hand, track our most precious assets, gold and silver. While agriculture, meat
livestock and consumer observe corn, coffee and live cattle to name a few. Since commodities, and
not just oil, are key inputs of many goods, they have a profound impact on... Show more content on

Obviously when oil prices are volatile, earnings from company s like Exxon Mobil will
fluctuate. Investors are quick to take notice of this, causing share prices of energy companies to
fall. However, what you may not be aware of is that oil is a key input into a variety of goods and
products we use daily. Retail manufactures often use oil to make plastics or fertilizers found at
your local Walmart. By extension, when the price of oil rises, major retailers pass on rising costs
onto consumers in the form of higher prices. If they aren t able to pass along the cost increase, then
retailers face an adverse impact on margins, subsequently hurting stock prices. Moreover, oil prices
have a directly effect what you end up paying at theh pump. When oils prices are high, consumer
spending typically suffers since consumers must dig deeper to on necessities and fuel. Auto
manufactures often feel this effect through falling sales of its higher margin SUVs and trucks.
Gold
Unlike oil, gold prices indirectly follows movements in the market. Throughout history gold has
been viewed as a counter cyclical asset, which means the precious metals gains value during
market down turns. Since gold is found all over the world and holds high intrinsic value, it is
often viewed as a universal currency. When the outlook of the equity markets looks bleak or
corporate earnings are destined for doom, investors will flock to the precious

Causes And Effects Of Air Pollution
Imagine having your life cut short by at least ten years. This is the reality for many people who
are constantly exposed to high levels of air pollution. In the midwestern United States, members
of the Teamsters Union are at a higher risk of lung cancer. These union members are truck
drivers and mechanics who simply work their hardest every day to make a living. They haul
heavy equipment or material to construction sites or warehouses. Workers may have to load and
unload equipment as well as repair any problems the vehicles have. Similar to the average
American, they work many hours a day and spend even more hours on the road driving and
hauling equipment from place to place. Their trucks are mostly diesel, which emit high levels of
carbon. The present day levels of elemental carbon in truck cabs were slightly higher on average
than highway background but on average 4 times greater than those in residential neighborhoods
in the Midwest (Cohen 220). A study completed by Dr. Eric Garshick consisted of 31,000
members who worked for the Teamsters Union in 1981 and showed how many deaths could be
caused by pollution. Dr. Garshick took a look at the National Death Registry in 2001 to find how
many of the members had died The results were shocking. The men in the study were all older
than thirty nine years old who have served at least one year in the union. Smoking was taken into
account by survey and adjusted to the study. Out of these men, there were a total of 4,306 deaths

The Application Of Microsoft Office
All started when Bill Gate and Paul Allen, two friends that as early as 13 years old started to
mess around with computers, drop out of college to create their own business. This business
founded April 4, 1975 is known today as Microsoft Corporation. Allen and Gates created a basic
interpreter for computers, that was rejected by Digital Research, but later on IBM made a
contract with them. The creation of the MS DOS for IBM in mid 80 s gave Microsoft the high
rock success that still last till this day, making them the dominant operating system for personal
computers. Likewise, Microsoft became at a later time the leading business in office suite software
better known as Microsoft Office.
Microsoft Office is a set of programs to serve different purposes for business or personal motives
and developed by Microsoft Corporation.
Although in 1983 Microsoft Word was created and used, it wasn t until 1989 where Microsoft
Office was officially released, which included Word, Excel and Power Point. From that stint, more
than a dozen versions had surface perfecting the applications already integrated, and introducing
new one. For instance, with the announcement of Windows 1.6 Microsoft Office a new
application arises, Mail for PC Networks. In 1992 another version of Microsoft Office was issued
in conjunction with the first Microsoft Office CD Room Software and the first Professional version
that encompasses Access.

Rhetorical Analysis Of Car Dealers In The Late 30 s
Throughout the late 20 s and early 30 s, people suffered in some of the worst ways America has
ever faced. John Steinbeck noticed how people, in some ways, were treated much worse than they
should have been when he considered what these people faced. Many people felt harsh treatment in
car dealerships specifically, as they purchased cars to help them travel across the country towards
California. Through the use of tone and diction, John Steinbeckcharacterizes the carsalesmen as
ruthless towards those who are suffering. Throughout the passage, the tone used to describe the
dealers emphasized just how harsh dealers were to those trying to purchase cars. Many times,
people were spoken to as if they didn t matter whatsoever. It had been seen that if the women
like[d] the car, then the salesman could screw the old man into buying the car at a higher price
than he initially would have been willing to in the first place. People were treated as if they didn
t matter and if someone chose the more expensive choice, someone else was taken advantage of,
no matter their struggles. There were also instances where people came with the attitude of
others don t want to buy no cars instead they wanted to take up [their] time. Car salesmen felt as
if these people who were fighting to survive were simply wasting time and they didn t have
intentions to purchase a car, even if that was the real reason they were there. They diminished the
real efforts of people who needed those cars to find work and support themselves just by the way
they said people were wasting their time. Steinbeck continued to describe the merciless car
salesman with their tone towards individuals with the ways salesmen saw them as bastards on the
sidewalk instead of seeing them as struggling just to get by on a daily basis. The harshness of the
salesmen s description completely confirms the inhumane thoughts they have towards those who
dealt with horrific hardships. Furthermore, Steinbeck took the tone one step further in his
representation of just how harsh these salesmen were to people who just wanted to find a vehicle
to take them to find work. Car dealers didn t want anything for more n twenty five, thirty bucks,
instead they only accepted

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Integration
Generally, the disparity implies inconsistency of the development potentials or rates of certain
system components. Uneven socio economic development in turn is seen as an objective basis for
the emergence of various kinds of imbalances. Moreover, failures and weaknesses of the economic
policy, of the strategy and of the reform process also can be identified as its subjective factors.
Studies of the inter regional differences dynamics are based on the growth models, including the
various factors such as the human capital development, the production structure, migration

The problem of imbalances comes to the fore, since weaker in the economic context States

mechanism in its own jurisdiction. Thereby, it should be noted that, low levels of development
imply greater difficulty in locally providing the finding sources to finance the growth programmers

circumstances, the elimination of imbalances is an objective necessity the economy and society,

How Does Holden Use Symbols In Catcher In The Rye
Often in a novel, symbols and motifs are used to give major characters an identity and a complex
personality, while letting us in on their thoughts. In The Catcher in the Rye, J.D Salinger uses
symbols to create Holden s intricate character and to let us understand him. This essay will talk
about how Salinger uses symbols in order to depict Holdens character and his thoughts.
Karl Marx stated Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and
the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people (Karl Marx Quotes) in his famous

Differences Between Race And Class
When it comes to the topics of race and class those two topics cannot be talked about without
mentioning the other. There was a time where once race would determine where he/or she would
be placed within society. Within society we are placed categories to distinguish differences from
one another and two of those categories are raceand class while the other is gender. There are
many cases where people can find themselves in multiple categories, which can either be served

the racial gap has exceeded its racial income gap. This gap shows that there is little potential for
all races to be considered as equal in income and opportunity. When it comes to race and class it

This is because there is no need to file pre issue document with the capital markets regulator. Approval of SEBI is also not required. However, it is required to file a placement document with the stock exchanges which encompasses details of the issue. • 3. Food Will Win The War Chapter 1 Summary Ian Mosby s Food Will Win the War is a comprehensive survey of the policy and social culture around food in Canada during the Second World War. Divided into five distinct chapters Mosby s central argument is that food served as a catalyst for cultural unity, evolution of political policy and definition of gender roles during the period of the war. The five chapters of FoodWill Win the War are divided largely thematically rather than chronologically. Chapter s One and Five each stretch back a little farther into the prewar and postwar period respectively to provide a proper narrative on the resolution of the malnutrition crisis in Canada during this time. That said both bookend chapters discuss the period of the war proper and also carry... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Essentially covering the same timeline the chapters differ by covering different thematic content. Chapter Two largely deals with the rationing and price control Canadians faced during this period. The key aspect of the culture surrounding these policies Mosby discusses is the remarkable popularity of these measures and the implications of that popularity on Canadian culture and politics. The argument is made that the measures lead to an enjoyed level of equality and unity amongst Canadians from disparate backgrounds. This idea of national unity is also supported by the central topics of Chapter Three in which Mosby tackles the concept of the housoldier. This is the term used to discuss the role of Canadian women in volunteer labour and consumer practices centering around, unsurprisingly, food. This chapter is probably the closest to what one would imagine a book entitled food will win the war would contain but Mosby heavily incorporates social and gender history in order to present the new situation of women during the course of the war. Similarly Chapter Four also expresses the experiences of women but does so through different mediums. Heavily incorporating primary sources Mosby examines recipes (the majority of which written by women) published in newspapers and cookbooks in the time period. The blending of cultural and economic boundaries is used by to reiterate the idea of a national unity and equality that simply did not transfer into the post war ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analysis Of Sleepwalking Defense By Lindsay Lyon After reading Lindsay Lyon s article about sleepwalking defense , it s clear this is a controversial pled. The thought of being able to do anything in your sleep is an outrageous concept to grasp, let alone use as a defense in a court room. Out of seven different cases in this article, there s only two that I could come to terms with. State v. Bradley and Pennsylvania v. Ricksgers both involved the murderof their significant others with a single gunshot during an unconscious state. In my opinion, these cases are most relevant to the sleepwalking defense because it s more believable to think one action took place before someone waking up then multiple actions. The Regina v. Parks case was a far stretch to try and use sleepwalking defense. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Evaluation Of A Exercise Based Interventions Inter individual variability in the direction and magnitude of weight change in response to supervised exercise based interventions has been well documented (Table 1). Even in the highly controlled environment of an isolated experimental station over an 84 day period exercise induced weight loss ranged between 3 and 12 kg [48]. More recent studies showed that certain participants even gain weight in response to supervised exerciseinterventions [42,49]. Accordingly, changes in fat mass and fat free mass have been shown to vary considerably [36,42]. King et al. showed a roughly 50:50 split between so called responders (i.e. participants who achieve expected weight loss ) and non responders (i.e. participants who experience a small amount of weight loss or weight gain) [36]. Other studies indicate that a majority of participants displays some form of compensatory adaptation with a ratio of responders to non responders of 1:2 [46,49]. Even though there is, most likely, considerable inter individual variability in metabolic adaptations in response to exercise [42,48], success in weight loss interventions has been largely attributed to behavioral compensation such as a decline in non exercise PA and/or an increase in energy intake [22,36,46]; in addition to an obvious association with adherence to the exercise protocol. In fact, it has been argued that the individual variability in weight loss can be entirely attributed to the variability in non exercise PA [46,50]. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Song Vs Poetry The threat of death often moves one to fulfill their life, and can inspire poetry. This theme of a joyous life before death is seen in both the poem Death by Rainer Maria Rilke and the song We Might Be Dead Tomorrow by Soko. Although these two pieces follow the same theme, they are widely different in how they include poetic devices in the piece. Song and poetryare viewed differently considering that a song often focuses on the music behind the lyrics more than the lyrics themselves, whereas a poem is focused on using words and poetic devices to fulfill its purpose and theme. Claire Dederer, a writer from the Poetry Foundation, suggests that Song lyrics do a fine imitation of poetry, but they re not quite the same thing. Lyrics are a... There is a specific incident that this situation happened to a few teenagers in Des Moines, Iowa in December of 1965. A group of students wanting to wear black armbands throughout the holiday season was in for a wake up call. (FORTAS) These plans and or idea were quickly shot down by the high school principals. If students were shouting and protesting in classrooms, the school would be able to step in because it causes other students to be distracted from their schoolwork. (CALAGNA) Has freedom of speech changed since then? Some schools nowadays punish kids for online social media comments. (WHEELER) For example, if a student posts something on Facebook, and another kid comments on that status with a rude remark, the kid who posted it could take that to the principal s office and the kid who commented on it could get in trouble. Some could say it was cyber bullying, some could say it was just a witty/rude remark, not meant to be taken seriously. Is this a violation of free speech/expression? Another reason school authority figures have a lot of power over whether or not a student gets in trouble for what they say, posts, or wears, is that the school can discipline a student just because they personally or morally did not like the comment/post. Most of the time, the kids that get in trouble for something they post are in their own home, on their own laptop, during their free time outside of school. So why does the school have so much power over these situations the majority of the time? Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After some research, I found out that cardinal sine could not be solved by elementary means and that its integral was, in fact, a crucial part of the Gibbs phenomenon, which will be expanded upon in the Applications section (Pg. 8) of this investigation. My aim for this investigation is to prove the integral of cardinal sine to be sine integral and to approximate five (5) values of the sine integral function. Afterwards, I will show how this is relevant in both mathematics and other, more practical, applications. Exploration In order to organize the mathematical exploration most effectively, the exploration will begin with the following problem: Prove that ∫⠖’sinвЃЎx/x is equal to Si (x). Approximate Si (0), Si (ПЂ/6), Si (ПЂ/4), Si (ПЂ/3), and Si (ПЂ/2) using a Taylor polynomial of order 3 at 0 for f(x) = Si (x). In order to verify the results of the approximations, Wolfram Alpha, an online calculator capable of processing the sine integral function, will be used. To begin with, the Taylor series representation of the sine integral function is as such: Si (x)=∑_(n=0 )^в€ ћв–’(( 1)^n x^(2n+1))/(2n+1)(2n+1)! At this point, it is necessary to find the Taylor series representation of sinвЃЎx/x. First, the Taylor series representation of sin (x) is: ∑_(n=0)^в€ ћв–’(гЂ–( 1)гЂ—^n x^(2n+1))/(2n+1)! Therefore, sinвЃЎx/x is equal to: 1/x ∑_(n=0)^в€ ћв–’(гЂ–( 1)гЂ—^n x^(2n+1))/(2n+1)! Which is equal to: ∑_(n=0)^в€ ћв–’(гЂ–( 1)гЂ—^n x^(2n+1))/x(2n+1)! ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Abortions have become a trend among the youth of the 20th century. Although an abortion in the United States is legal it can regulate and limited in individual states. Abortion is wrong and cruel there are many positive options to make before taking that plan of action. There have been an increasing number of abortion cases throughout the United States. Between 2000 and 2008 the abortion rate has increased 18 percent among poor women. Nearly 70 percent of abortions are for women who are making 11,000 a year or less, and are hovering right over the poverty line. Lower income single women tend to get pregnant more than middle class single women. The reason is that lower income single women have less self esteem about their self. The reason for some women to have abortion is the responsibilities of parenthood and family life. Achieving progress in any of these three areas is important in getting these countries on par or at least closer to the standard of living present in developed nations. Numerous of hypotheses have been posed to tackle and address these issues. This paper examines the aspect of improving the economy and whether or not foreign direct investmentby multinational corporations would benefit developing countries. Some may argue, including the renowned artist Frida Kahlo that foreign direct investments may actually lead to a decline in culture and exploitation. However, this paper argues that the economy in developing countries could be significantly improved by properly introducing foreign direct investment by multinational corporations. Foreign direct investment (FDI) made by multinational corporations would spur the economy in developing countries which in turn would lay the groundwork for improvements in other important aspects including education and welfare without a decline in culture and exploitation of citizens. Developing countries are stuck in a cycle of poverty that can t be broken from within the domestic economy due to an insufficient supply of investment available in these countries to raise the productivity and income levels of workers. Third daydream, Mitty daydreams that he is a witness in a courtroom trial, walking down the street trying to remember the other item his wife instructed him to buy. Family In The Count Of Monte Cristo In the film The Count of Monte Cristo, based on the novel of the same name by Alexander Dumas, the idea of family serves as serious matter that is capable of dictating the allegiances and motivations for the primary characters of the film. Furthermore, the idea of family is also depicted in the film, as a liability for the characters and a vulnerability that others in the film exploit. Within this examples can be seen in Villefort s action of imprisoning Edmond to protect his father, Albert s change of heart when it is revealed that Edmond is his father, and the class discrimination that Edmond encounters prior to his imprisonment. Edmond s imprisonment at the hands of Villefort is a defining moment of the film and is one motivated entirely by Villefort s filial ties. Initially, Villefort realizes Edmond s innocence, but upon inspecting the letter it is revealed to him that the its contents incriminate his father. Consequently, the court uses the reasonable foresight test in The Wagon Mound, as the Privy Council ruled that Re Polemis should not be considered good law. 4.The Wagon Mound is the accepted test in Malaysia, approved in the case of Government of Malaysia v Jumat bin Mahmud Ors. 5.In Bolton v Stone, the HOL held that the distance between the place where the ball was hit to the edge of the field which was surrounded by a seven foot wall made injury to the plaintiff rather remote. A person must only take reasonable steps against risks that may be materialise. Thus the cricket club was held not liable for allowing cricket to be played without having taken extra precautions, such as increasing the height of the fence. • 38. Porphyrin There are many unique compounds that can be synthesized using methods of chemistry that are serve as biological importance in the human body. Porphyrins are an example of one of these compounds and it helps create many substances utilized by the body, like hemoglobin (National Library of Medicine, 2013). Porphyrin, when it is in its purified form, can be mixed with several metals to form metalloporphyrins, for example if magnesium s the metal mixed with the porphyrin it can create chlorophyll (Weldegirma, 2014). An important characteristic to porphyrin is that it is aromatic and this is determined by utilizing Huckel s rule. Huckel s rule simply uses two different formulas, 4n+2 and 4n, and the amount of pi electrons present in a compound to determine if a compound is either aromatic or non aromatic. One must simply count up the amount of delocalized pi electrons present and if it is satisfied by 4n+2 it is aromatic, but if it satisfied by 4n then it is nonaromatic. For example, porphyrin has 18 delocalized pi electrons, it cannot be nonaromatic because if one... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A possible explanation for a low percent yield is that the starting materials did not completely react with each other meaning that the reaction did not produce the full amount of product possible, which could be avoided by allowing the reflux to continue for more time. For copper tetraphenylporphyrin the theoretical yield was 0.023g and the actual was 0.0274g, making the percent yield 118%. Possible explanation for a large percent yield could have been due to the product not being completely dry when being weighed or the presents of contaminates in the final product. A TLC was conducted during the synthesis of tetraphenylporphyrin; this is useful in monitoring the progression of the reaction because it helps identify what is present in the reaction in terms of starting materials and ... Known for gossipy titles about political scandals and other sensitive issues about the Communist Party of China, the Causeway Bay Bookstore attracts lots of mainland Chinese tourists in Hong Kong. Therefore, when the news of the bookshop s workers has gone missing came out, the general HK public felt shocked and appalled. • 40. The Fairie Queene Analysis Skill of the Week: Reading for Women in Power Throughout time, Chasity is a virtue of positive connotation but seems to have a fluctuating denotation. In our modern world, the Urban Dictionary website defines chastity as more than just abstinence. It s choosing not to have sex because you recognize the value of your own sexuality. (UrbanDictionary.com). This definition allows for some leeway as it leaves room for possible intercourse as long as it is valued. However, the reputable Oxford Dictionary narrows the meaning to The state or practice of refraining from extramarital, or especially from all, sexual intercourse. (OxfordDictionary.com) This Middle English definition leaves no room for hanky panky. In the Fairie Queene, Edmund Spenser uses three predominate characters to create a Spenserian definition of chastity. In Canto 4, Spencer introduces the character Florimell. At that time, she is being pursued by Arthur and Guyon (3.4.12). Furthermore, in Canto 5, more drama arises when Arthur learns that Florimell is searching for her beloved Marinell (3.5.2). Florimell is noted as the most beautiful female character in the epic and spends much of her time running away from almost all of the male characters within the poem because they are in love with her. She relies on her ability to flee from men with lustful intentions. This character shows how Spenser defines chastity as purity and innocence as Florimell flees from temptation instead of taking it on like a modern day ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Polk won because the majority of the public believed in Manifest Destiny. Along with influencing presidential elections, Manifest Destiny played a role in the slavery issue. Entering the mid eighteen hundreds slavery was a very sensitive subject, and some of the bad feelings that caused this sensitivity were caused by territorial expansion. With more lands being acquired the number of slave state and free state representatives in Congress became unbalanced. This caused great distress among the senators and representatives. For instance, free state members of Congress began accusing the slave state members of conspiracies. One such accusation was made by Charles Sumner. He proposed the idea that southerners wanted to acquire more land so they could implant slavery in the territories. With more slave oriented territories that would eventually became slave states, the South would have control of Congress. This is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Retail manufactures often use oil to make plastics or fertilizers found at your local Walmart. • 45. Causes And Effects Of Air Pollution Imagine having your life cut short by at least ten years. This is the reality for many people who are constantly exposed to high levels of air pollution. In the midwestern United States, members of the Teamsters Union are at a higher risk of lung cancer. These union members are truck drivers and mechanics who simply work their hardest every day to make a living. They haul heavy equipment or material to construction sites or warehouses. Workers may have to load and unload equipment as well as repair any problems the vehicles have. Similar to the average American, they work many hours a day and spend even more hours on the road driving and hauling equipment from place to place. Their trucks are mostly diesel, which emit high levels of carbon. The present day levels of elemental carbon in truck cabs were slightly higher on average than highway background but on average 4 times greater than those in residential neighborhoods in the Midwest (Cohen 220). A study completed by Dr. Eric Garshick consisted of 31,000 members who worked for the Teamsters Union in 1981 and showed how many deaths could be caused by pollution. Dr. Garshick took a look at the National Death Registry in 2001 to find how many of the members had died The results were shocking. The men in the study were all older than thirty nine years old who have served at least one year in the union. Smoking was taken into account by survey and adjusted to the study. • 47. Rhetorical Analysis Of Car Dealers In The Late 30 s Throughout the late 20 s and early 30 s, people suffered in some of the worst ways America has ever faced. John Steinbeck noticed how people, in some ways, were treated much worse than they should have been when he considered what these people faced. Many people felt harsh treatment in car dealerships specifically, as they purchased cars to help them travel across the country towards California. Through the use of tone and diction, John Steinbeckcharacterizes the carsalesmen as ruthless towards those who are suffering. Throughout the passage, the tone used to describe the dealers emphasized just how harsh dealers were to those trying to purchase cars. Many times, people were spoken to as if they didn t matter whatsoever. It had been seen that if the women like[d] the car, then the salesman could screw the old man into buying the car at a higher price than he initially would have been willing to in the first place. People were treated as if they didn t matter and if someone chose the more expensive choice, someone else was taken advantage of, no matter their struggles. There were also instances where people came with the attitude of others don t want to buy no cars instead they wanted to take up [their] time. Car salesmen felt as if these people who were fighting to survive were simply wasting time and they didn t have intentions to purchase a car, even if that was the real reason they were there. They diminished the real efforts of people who needed those cars to find work and support themselves just by the way they said people were wasting their time. Steinbeck continued to describe the merciless car salesman with their tone towards individuals with the ways salesmen saw them as bastards on the sidewalk instead of seeing them as struggling just to get by on a daily basis. The harshness of the salesmen s description completely confirms the inhumane thoughts they have towards those who dealt with horrific hardships. Furthermore, Steinbeck took the tone one step further in his representation of just how harsh these salesmen were to people who just wanted to find a vehicle to take them to find work. Car dealers didn t want anything for more n twenty five, thirty bucks, instead they only accepted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
