Various accredited providers, such as ASHP, PTCE, ADA, AHA, and Stanford, offer courses that contribute to CPE credits necessary for maintaining professional qualifications. Requirements and programs differ by country, with records of completed credits managed through organizations like NABP.

CPE programs is the lengthiest phase of pharmacists’
education. CPE usually starts after graduation and continues
for life in order to improve the knowledge, technical
performance, communication skills and professional
standards of pharmacists, and ultimately, pharmaceutical
services.

3. SCOPE of CPE
• The type of courses and training programs in CPE
differ in different institutions and countries.
• In Australia, educational programs have been
conducted to improve the prescribing of
antibiotics.
• In the USA some programs have been introduced
to increase the knowledge of pharmacists about
herbal medicine and to optimize the use of new
technologies for improving cost effectiveness of
the services.

4. CPE Statement
• CPE Statement / Transcript is the official record of points
Professionals receive for participating in specialized training in
their respective fields.
• CPE credits are based on hours of study and count toward
Certification Programs that enable Professionals to update
their credentials and license.
• Different countries have different requirements for credit count
depending on the advancements and needs.

6. ACPE
• The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education
(ACPE) is the national agency responsible for the
accreditation of professional degree programs in
pharmacy and providers of continuing pharmacy
education in the United State.
• You can get list of Accredited CPE Providers from the
official website of ACPE.
• NABP provides you CPE Monitor which keeps records
of your completed ACPE credits.

7. NABP
• National Association Board of Pharmacy (NABP)
handles all the pharmacist related tasks in USA.
• After sign up by providing credentials, you will get
your NABP Number (e-profile ID). You can apply
for Practice Exams (Pre-NAPLEX, Pre-FPGEE, Pre-
MPJE) and for Exams (NAPLEX, FPGEE, MPJE) for
USA through NABP.
• NABP provides you CPE Monitor, by using your
NABP number you can submit your CPE courses
to be included in your NABP transcript.

9. ASHP
• American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) is a
professional organization that represents pharmacists who
serve as patient care providers in hospitals, health systems,
ambulatory clinics, and other healthcare settings.
• ASHP is one of the largest accredited providers of continuing
education for pharmacists.
• ASHP provides both free and paid courses, and you can get
personalized transcript from ASHP directly along with credit
hours also reflecting in NABP monitor.

10. • ASHP Membership is for both students and Professional
Pharmacists. Registration is free for 1st year students and then
the fee applies for student membership afterwards.
• Courses are independent of membership, you can do them
whether you’re a member or not.

of your choice, clear the assessment and get your ACPE
accredited certificates and transcript.

13. PTCE
• Pharmacy Times Continuing Education (PTCE) is
exclusive platform for Pharmacists accredited by
the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education
(ACPE) as a provider of Continuing
Pharmaceutical Education.
• PTCE is free platform and requires no fee for the
courses and accreditations for Pharmacists.

16. ADA
• American Diabetes Association (ADA) provides both free and
paid courses for continuing education for Pharmacists and
Diabetes educators for effective patient counselling.
• Continuing Education Credits will be reported to CPE Monitor if
you have NABP e-Profile ID, otherwise you can get certification
and transcript from ADA.
• Sign up at ADA Professional Education Portal, choose courses
and uplift your expertise in Diabetes.

18. AHA
• American Heart Association (AHA) provides both free
and paid courses for Pharmacists. Pharmacists can opt
both courses accredited by the Accreditation Council
for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or Non-accredited.

have NABP e-Profile ID, otherwise you can get
certification and transcript from AHA.
• Sign up, and opt in paid/free courses to begin your

20. Stanford
• Stanford Continuing Studies Program (CSP) provides both free
and paid courses for continuing education.
• Pharmacist has the liberty to attend courses as non-physician.
The credits will not be reported to ACPE but activity will be
added in Stanford CME Transcript and certification will also be
