1. I started by creating an A4 sized file on QuarkXpress.

2. I then used the shape tool to create a rectangle which will act as a banner for my ‘contents’
title.

3. Using the text tool I added in the ‘contents’ title over the grey banner. So it is one of the first
things the reader will see it is positioned at the top of the page.

4. Using the text too again I put in the magazine name and the issue number. I purposely made
the masthead a different colour to the rest of the text so that it stood out.

5. I have then created a banner for the ‘regulars’ title, to lift it off the plain white background.

6. Next, I added the ‘regulars’ title over the grey banner. I chose to put it in a white font so that it
would contrast with the black banner, making it stand out.

7. Using the text tool I added in the regular content and positioned it below the ‘regulars’ title.

8. Next to the regulars content, I used both the shape tool and text tool to create the page number
for them. I also made sure to stick to my colour scheme while creating them.

9. I then made a grey background for the featured content to go over so it separates it from the
rest of the contents page. I did this using the shape tool.

10. I then did the same thing: Using the shape tool to create a banner for the ‘featured’ title.

11. Using the text tool again I added the ‘featured’ title over the banner. Making it stand out I made
the font white to contrast against the black background.

12. Using the text tool I added all of the featured content over the grey background. I arranged
them into three columns to make them look tidy. I made sure to make the band name 2 pt sizes
bigger than the rest of the coverline.

13. Next to the featured content, I used both the shape tool and text tool to create the page number
for them. I also made sure to stick to my colour scheme while creating them.

14. I have then inserted four pictures into the empty space on the right side of the contents page.
To make them fit together I had to crop and resize them.

15. Finally, using the text tool I added the page numbers to each individual image.
