2. NME: Contents Page Use of imagery Imagery is used here to make the contents seem more colourful and is a lot more interesting that just text. This particular image is of a band performing and links to the main Cover line “Kasabian got romantic in a church” Logo The NME logo is put in big and bold letters to first add more colour to the magazine but also gives the reader a constant reminder of what magazine they are reading. The font, colours and house style of the magazine are all the same which gives the magazine an effective way of presenting their stories/reviews The layout is also keeping with the pattern of the front page which gives the magazine structure and the reader a clear understanding of where to find the particular set of information they are after. 4. VIBE: Contents page Logo Font, Colour and House Style Use of imagery Sub-Heading The use of imagery is used to tell the audience what type of music genre the magazine centres around. (In this case of VIBE: Rap and R&B) This shows Rapper Kanye West seemingly looking straight at the reader to immediately connect the reader with the magazine and not distancing the reader. It is also in black and white possibly to show the classy side of the magazine. The only hint of colour is the heart being put on him by the hand coming from over his shoulder. This could represent that like most rappers Kanye West is seen as tough and not a caring or loving person. The magazine is in black and white on the contents page which doesn’t go with the house style on the front page which has a colour scheme of blue, pink and black. But this could be used to portray a particular story that Kanye West is describing or to seem more classy to the reader. The font of the Sub-Headings are written in a fancy way again , this could be to portray the classy side of the magazine or of Kanye West himself. A large V is used to continuously remind the reader that the magazine is VIBE and so this is almost a way of advertising the magazine as the reader continues to read. The sub-Headings are written in a classy text to portray the formality of the articles and the professional levels at which the magazine is currently at. Typography The text is put around the image of the artist to attract attention to the image to make the magazine seem more interesting to the reader.

KERRANG: Contents page Font , colour and house style Logo Taster Article Sub-Heading Use of imagery “ KERRANG!” is put central of the contents page to remind the reader that they are reading KERRANG and this may convince readers to purchase the magazine next time. The font used is clear to read and not particularly fancy or formal which would suggest to the reader a slightly more laid back magazine that writes the way the reader is accustomed to. The colours of the magazine contents is mainly dominated by white and gold to try to portray to the reader that the magazine is important (hence the colour of gold). There are many taster articles used in the contents page. They are designed to say part of the story and then leave a hook at the end to try and convince the reader to read on and purchase the magazine. There are many of these used in the contents page of KERRANG so that the reader has a lot of reasons to purchase the magazine and carry on reading the magazine. Sub headings are used in the contents page of KERRANG as it gives the contents a clear structure for the reader to follow and so the magazine looks better as an effect of this and the reader is more likely to purchase the magazine. The contents page is mainly dominated by imagery in the magazine possibly to seem more colourful and interesting to the reader of the magazine. Many of the Sub-Headings have an image near them to show the audience what they might except to see if they read on.
