This document summarizes the goals and phases of an RSS development project at a health sciences library. The project aims to develop an RSS current awareness service that categorizes health sciences RSS feeds and integrates them with other library tools. It outlines 5 phases: feed collection, overhauling RSS pages, developing bundled RSS packages, developing a shopping cart application, and developing instructional and promotional plans. It also discusses challenges of and strategies for internal and external education about RSS.

InCoB2016 FactPub: the open-access web platform for academic paper contentsShun Shiku
The scientific papers and their contents are in high demand. For example, National Institute of Health’s PubMed Central provides free access to biomedical literature and has one million unique visitors daily. 40% of its visitors are citizens rather than universities or companies. However, not all the academic paper contents are accessible due to a paywall that prevents free distribution, locking up scientific knowledge.
FactPub (http://factpub.org) aims to provide the public a method to access information beyond paper paywalls while respecting copyright law. FactPub is based on the concept of 'idea-expression dichotomy' which is that facts cannot be copyrighted, and that their distribution is not bound by copyright licenses. Factify processes paragraphs to meaningful sentence-level facts using Stanford Core NLP library. Factify is run on the client side as a browser extension (Firefox/Chrome) to parse academic PDF papers. After Factify extracts facts from a paper, it uploads ‘facts’ to factpub.org, generating the content page in Wiki text format. Large-scale adoption of this fact-publishing framework will empower accessibility to health and other scientific research.

In het huidige bibliometrics landschap krijgt het onderzoek naar andere mogelijkheden om impact van publicaties en onderzoek te meten een prominente plaats. Tegenwoordig willen onderzoekers niet alleen maar beoordeeld worden op basis van Impact Factoren en versterken zij de roep om alternatieve methoden om impact te beoordelen. In het kader van onderzoeksondersteuning kunnen bibliotheken in dit domein een nieuwe en belangrijke rol spelen. In deze sessie worden de ontwikkelingen tegen het licht gehouden en sterke en zwakke punten blootgelegd. Tijdens de workshop wordt ingegaan op de verschillende indicatoren voor het bepalen van de impact van tijdschriften, artikelen, onderzoeksgroepen en onderzoekers. Tools, methoden en het laatste onderzoek komen aan bod.
Managing user queries using cloud services: KAUST library experienceRindra Ramli
The provision of reference and information services are one of the major activities for academic libraries. Answering questions and providing relevant and timely answers for library users are just one of such services. Questions come in many format: in person, phone, email and even on social media platforms. The type of questions may also differ from simple, directional to complicated ones. One of the challenges for libraries is the capturing and managing of these inquiries. Libraries need to address some of these points: • How the questions will be captured • How the questions will be answered • Who will answer these questions • What is the turn-around time for answering these questions • What kind of statistics to monitor • How are these statistics communicated to internal library staff and other stakeholders This paper describe the initiatives undertaken by KAUST, a brand new Graduate Research Library located in Saudi Arabia. This initiatives include the implementation of LibAnswers to assist the library in capturing and managing all inquiries. We are tracking inquiries coming in via email or widgets (such as online form), converting received questions into FAQ entries, creating and maintaining a public knowledge base for our users. In addition, it will also describe future plans in store to expand reference services for our library users.

Using Web 2.0 Applications as Information Awareness Tools
The past few years have seen several new technological initiatives at Drexel University in interdisciplinary fields such as Nanomedicine, Engineering Cities, Drug Delivery, Plasma Medicine, Nanoscale Science and Technology, Microfluidics, and Bionanotechnology. These technological initiatives require faculty and students to work together in groups in a collaborative fashion. This has motivated librarians to experiment with new ways of reaching out to faculty and students. Drexel's emphasis on team based engineering design projects requires students to develop critical understanding of engineering subject areas. Developing awareness about the core electronic resources such as IEEE Xplore, Knovel, Web of Knowledge, Science Direct and Engineering Village is crucial in successfully undergoing research and completing assignments in their classes.
This presentation outlines innovative experiments using web 2.0 applications to increase information among faculty and students. Several web 2.0 tools such as Facebook, Friendfeed, Del.icio.us, Google Reader, Wikis, and blogs will be covered. Having engineering librarian's presence on Facebook is useful since many of the students are heavy Facebook users. Drexel's student Organizations such as IEEE and ASME are also on Facebook. Moreover, Drexel University's College of Engineering has recently launched its Facebook page where activities celebrating National Engineering Week have been quickly promoted among student. Drexel Engineering Information Awareness Campaign Group is a librarian-created Facebook group aimed at increasing awareness of new and existing resources among faculty and students. Feeds from Google Reader can be made automatically available on Facebook pages. For this to happen, a user needs to become ‘a friend’ with the engineering librarian on Facebook.
As faculty and students become more aware of new and existing information tools, the information skills learned during the process of exploring these resources will contribute to life-long learning among the engineering students.
