Conduct research to identify techniques for maintaining participant interest in training. List a minimum of three specific techniques not found in the Blanchard and Thacker (2013) text and give a short explanation of each. Explain how these techniques can be used to deliver effective training, noting the learning style to which each technique appeals. Compare these three techniques with those identified in the course text, noting any differences or similarities.
Your initial post should be 250 to 300 words. Use this week’s lecture as a foundation for your initial post. In addition to the Blanchard and Thacker (2013) text, use at least one additional scholarly source to support your discussion.

In previous weeks, you learned how to conduct an effective training needs assessment and initial steps of designing training, especially designing outcome-oriented learning objectives that become the road map for the next phases of training. You read the Domtar case and how Raymond Royer, the CEO, took initiative to develop employees; how he focused on developing strategic direction and specific goals that focused on (a) return on investment and (b) customer service. You also learned about appropriate training methods selection in the design and development phases.
The delivery methods and implementation of training are critical for the success of training in terms of employees’ engagement and motivation to learn. It is important to understand individuals’ learning styles to decide what methods are appropriate for a particular group of learners. To be more effective, training should include multiple training methods (e.g. lectures, brain storming, group work, discussions, role play, case analysis, simulations and games) and activities to motivate learners who have different types of learning styles, preferences, learning goals and personal expectations. Learner engagement is the key to learning. There are various methods you can use to engage and motivate learners for better results, such as role play, discussion, on-the-job training, simulation, self-directed learning, business games, case studies, team work, behavior modeling, etc.
Styles of Learning
People have different styles of learning. These learning styles help them to acquire new information and knowledge. There are many different learning styles but for simplicity they can be broken down into four major categories.

This report compared the differences of various instructional design model, and discussed the learning theories that might influence learning process and learning design.
Adults education is considered one of the less structured, ill-defined fields in terms of practices and competences that professionals should behold to operate within. This is particularly the case of intergenerational and family learning; the problem of the “private” sphere of learning, as well as the very informal nature of this type of learning requires more research to understand how to shape practices and which skills the educators should have. In this initial phase of our research, we contend that Learning Design, as practice that supports educators in capturing and representing the own (situated) plans of action within educational interventions, can be a key element to develop educators professionalism, towards quality and effectiveness of adults’ education. We support this assumption with the introduction of our training approach, where adults’ educators are invited to implement a creative/reflective process of five stages; every stage introduces tools for representing as part of the Learning Design approach; furthermore, trainers are encouraged to go beyond representing, by sharing and commenting other trainers’ designs. According to this approach, two elements of professionalism are promoted: At the level of the single educator, and at the at the level of the community of adults’ educators.
Incept Education has developed the Education Leadership Dialogue, a model that provides exciting 2 day intensive programs for professional learning and futuring processes. Initial Question
"Leadership"
Please respond to the following:
Examine the concept of participatory leadership. Propose three ways to engage in participatory leadership.
Evaluate three specific qualities of your leadership style. Examine why you feel comfortable with that approach to leadership.
Peer Response:
Participatory Leadership practices help shape the future of education in terms of possibilities and opportunities. Participatory Leadership practices and theories help us reflect on the pitfalls of oppositional talking or debating and the creative power of true dialogue. There are many ways to engage in participatory leadership (Schlechty, 2009). First participatory leadership it enables us to work with large groups using relatively minimal resources and generate meaningful information to inform evaluation design and practice. It can bring tremendous strengths to our evaluation practices as it incorporates skills to engage groups and communities in an inspiring way around what to do with the current struggles of our educational system. Second engagement is team building through collaborative efforts. The leader guides his team to produce an enterprise that is a result of group accomplish (Schlechty, 2009). To do this, he must meld a mix of diverse workers with sometimes conflicting ideas and methods. Final way to engage in participatory leadership is by engaging with other by allowing the input of suggestions of others. Participatory leadership is not a goal. It is a strategy for achieving a goal efficient delivery of quality goods and services by unlocking the human capital within the organization (ARCHIVE, 1990).
My leadership style is forever transforming to fit the needs of students, educators, and team members. Three qualities of my leadership style are a commitment, strategically focused, and, dependence on God. It is critically important that you be able to paint a vivid picture of where your group or organization is headed. In the end, you should use the vision to motivate and guide action. Make your vision a shared one with your group. I feel comfortable with my approach to leadership because it sets the tone and approach for my organization. Great leaders are aware of their own style and make the effort to learn how their style comes across to their team. They learn to flex their leadership style to individual team members so that they communicate and behave in ways that motivate and inspire. My leadership style stands forever transforming to fit the needs of students, educators, and team members.

There are several practices that the instructors use that have encouraged me to take a deep learning approach. They include group discussions, multimedia presentations, and simulations among others. Group discussions allow students to interact with each other that have helped us to tap into our interpersonal intelligence a skill that is important beyond the classroom. Multimedia presentations such as PowerPoint presentation enables those of us who are better at learning visually understand a topic better. Our instructors provide us with choices by allowing us to choose a topic of discussion for our essay writing assignments. For instance, they allow us to choose an organization of our interest for certain assignments then discuss the assignment using this organization. They also provide us with a selection of books and materials to use in our assignments. They allow us to complete research on a topic of their choice within our area of study and report back to the class. By actively engaging us in the learning process using the above practices and many more, I am able to take a deep learning approach.
Most of my instructors use deep learning approaches. However, some surface learning approaches noted include; assessing our assignments for independent facts using short answer questions, emphasizing coverage of a topic at the expense of depth, and having a short assessment cycle.
The online surveys tell me that I can use several methods to enhance learning among my students. For instance, I should engage my students in the learning process as it increases their attention and focus. It also motivates them to engage in higher level of critical thinking as well as promote meaningful learning experiences. A student-centered approach increases opportunities for student engagement that results to achieving of course learning objectives for both the instructor and the students. Teachers should prepare ahead for classroom discussions in order to have a clear focus for the discussion and address important topics from a number of perspectives. They should also design effective evaluation strategies for their students’ and provide meaningful feedback.
My greatest worry is on how to handle students who do not value their education. I belive that students interested in learning are easy to handle since most of them have some focus on the learning process in order to achieve their personal and professional goals. However, those not interested in learning and have just been pushed by their parents to obtain degrees are a difficult lot to handle. I may be willing to help them but as long as they are not interested in the learning process and have no set goals it remains a challenge for me as a teacher who wants to see all her students achieve academic success and obtain careers of their choice. ...

Contamination is real issue in numerous governments subsequently laws are advanced to help shield the earth from undesirable waste transfer. Lethal contamination is a noteworthy danger. It influences both the vegetation and water holds. Mercury is a noteworthy contamination material it influences vegetation, air and water. Waste materials that transmit radiation are more hazardous. The impacts of radiation can be felt for more periods than some other poisons. In the ground it consolidates with soil and this can think that some way or another into products. In the event that breathed in it causes distortion of the body and now and again tumor which murders more individuals in America and other western nations (Nemerow & Agardy, 1998).
Dumping of substance waste by businesses crushes the earth by contaminating water as well as makes the dirt barren. Contamination is real issue in numerous governments subsequently law.docxladonnacamplin
The military has been excused from testing their weapons in zone that damage the human right (Cheremisinoff, 2003).
Organization logos that show or publicize that their item are not disregarding any of the natural demonstrations and actually are discovered to be in infringement are in this manner said to be honing encroachment. This falls notice is an infringement in the Lanham demonstration. It expresses that an organization must record or register their logo. People in general have the privilege to put forth assert in defense there is an infringement of any of this demonstrations by any organization. These demonstrations experience various alterations to adapt to the current difficulties of waste transfer and contamination. The United States of America has through the years seen to it that the commercial ventures to don't share in unlawful exercises that annihilate the earth (Nemerow & Agardy, 1998). Along these lines investigating the past demonstrations helps close on crevices or proviso that commercial ventures can take advantage on purposely or unknowingly.

Consider, hypothetically, a small community called Plainsville, Colo.docxladonnacamplin
Consider, hypothetically, a small community called Plainsville, Colorado, which has a critical rail line running through it. On this line, hazardous chemicals are routinely transported en route to a neighboring community (Southtown) where they are crucial for industrial use in manufacturing a certain type of nuclear defect x-ray material that is made nowhere else in the world. The rail line was first laid in the late 1800s and has been patchily maintained over its life.
Given new priorities through Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Grant Programs and state mandates, both the Plainsville community leaders and operators of the railway are concerned with increasing vulnerabilities associated with rail transport because there is evidence of structural decline due to its age and uneven maintenance. Serious damage to, or degradation of, the line in the vicinity of Plainsville might be catastrophic with worst-case consequences including: irreparable destruction of the rail; a train derailment; a chemical spill; the creation of a hazardous environment for people, livestock, and agriculture; disruption of the industrial manufacturing in Southland; and the possible economic crippling of the entire area. Any of these components alone could result in a crisis; yet a combination of these, or if combined in totality, would be a scenario considered unimaginable by Plainsville’s leadership and emergency management personnel.
By way of background, Plainsville has a "strong" mayor, meaning she is elected by the people rather than chosen by a council, etc. Based upon DHS grant dollars that have trickled down through her state and all-hazards homeland security region, Mayor Witley has determined that a commission in the form of a short-term task force should look at the vulnerabilities associated with the rail line. The commission would take the scenario outlined above, consider its many variations, study possible consequences while articulating and researching the problem(s) and receiving testimony from experts, and then make recommendations about courses of action to prevent, mitigate, or respond to any resultant crisis.
The issues at hand for the community include the integrity of the rail line, the prevention of a hazardous spill, the safety of the citizens, and the continuity of the neighboring town’s industry. (More issues may exist, but this gets you started.)
Consider and list at least 10 potential organizations that would either provide a representative to sit on the commission or that would provide information to the commission.
When listing each partner, describe his, her, or its value to the commission and what expectations the mayor (and others) might have as to the expertise, capabilities, resources, or anything else an individual or agency might contribute.
Choose the most relevant entities or individual experts you can, and think about everything from a public safety and emergency management perspective.

Centervale police officers, Anne and Justin, respond to a report of domestic dispute. There had been a total of nine calls for service, including two in the past year. On the way, Anne informs Justin that this may be a very volatile situation because this couple is constantly in and out of Domestic Violence Court; even though they separate all the time, they always get back together.
Here's What Happened . . .
The officers arrive and knock on the door, "Hello! Police, can someone please come to the door?" A man yells "Come in!" from inside the house. They decide not to enter the residence under these circumstances to protect their own safety. Anne asks the man to come outside and speak to them.
The door opens. A man, who identifies himself as Mike and a friend of the family, opens the door. He says that Lilly and her husband, Johnny, were just fighting and that there is no problem now. Mike did not appear to be intoxicated but smelled of alcohol. Anne explained that someone has reported a domestic dispute to the police department from this residence and that they were there to check upon the situation. Anne asks Mike if anyone was using any weapons. Mike denied this and said that Lilly was inside the house, ironing clothes. If Anne wanted, she could go and talk to Lilly.
Justin stays with Mike while Anne enters the house and calls for Lilly. Lilly says, "Officer, he hit me on the head with his hand and I hit him with the iron." As this was a mutual assault, Anne stops questioning Lilly and asks Mike what Lilly hit Johnny with. Mike responds, "With the iron."
Anne asks Lilly where Johnny is and she says he was in the dining room. Anne asks Lilly if Johnny has any weapons. Lilly says she did not think he did or at least he did not when he hit her in the head. Anne stays with Mike and Lilly while Justin cautiously enters the house to discover Johnny in fetal position under the dining table.
When Justin first approaches him, Johnny is unresponsive but slowly becomes responsive. Justin notices a large contusion on the left side of Johnny's face when he rolls over to look at Justin. Justin calls for an ambulance, as Johnny was not in a position to answer any questions due to the injury on his head and the possible effects of the shock.
Anne continues to question Mike, "Who struck whom first?" Mike responds, "Johnny hit Lilly like he always does when he drinks Jack Daniels and beer, and then Lilly really got mad at Johnny, hit him with the iron, and went back to ironing. I don't know where Johnny went after that because I was on the couch watching TV and drinking beer." Anne then asks Mike, "How many times did Lilly hit Johnny with the iron?" Mike responds, "Only once that I saw."
Anne further asks, "How many times did.

Consider the following argument: There are many arguments for the elimination or modification of current U. S. drug laws, but one of the most persuasive involves what negative effects drug laws are having on society in comparison with the effects of the drugs themselves. In the past ten years, most forms of drug use have dropped significantly, especially among teens. Despite this, non-violent drug offenders accounted for 21.1 percent of the federal prison population. First time drug offenders serve, on average, a sentence three months longer than kidnappers, nine months longer than burglars, and thirty-three months longer than sex abusers. In 1992, the average cost of keeping an inmate in either state or federal prison was about $20,000 per prisoner per year. The United States has the highest incarceration rate in the world, with 455 prisoners per 100,000 population. It is maintaining these prisoners at great expense in an environment where they are unlikely to develop a socially constructive attitude. Perhaps it is time that we reconsider our attitudes toward those who choose to use drugs; failure to do so may cost society even more than it already has.
Determine whether or not the argument uses any deceptive statistics. Give your opinion on whether or not the argument has persuaded you. Explain why or why not.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

and give a short explanation of each. Explain how these
techniques can be used to deliver effective training, noting the
learning style to which each technique appeals. Compare these
three techniques with those identified in the course text, noting
any differences or similarities.
Your initial post should be 250 to 300 words. Use this week’s
lecture as a foundation for your initial post. In addition to the
Blanchard and Thacker (2013) text, use at least one additional
scholarly source to support your discussion.
Week Lecture for review and information
Implementation
In previous weeks, you learned how to conduct an effective
training needs assessment and initial steps of designing
training, especially designing outcome-oriented learning
objectives that become the road map for the next phases of
training. You read the Domtar case and how Raymond Royer,
the CEO, took initiative to develop employees; how he focused
on developing strategic direction and specific goals that focused
on (a) return on investment and (b) customer service. You also
learned about appropriate training methods selection in the
design and development phases.
The delivery methods and implementation of training are
critical for the success of training in terms of employees’
engagement and motivation to learn. It is important to
understand individuals’ learning styles to decide what methods
are appropriate for a particular group of learners. To be more
effective, training should include multiple training methods
(e.g. lectures, brain storming, group work, discussions, role
play, case analysis, simulations and games) and activities to
motivate learners who have different types of learning styles,
preferences, learning goals and personal expectations. Learner
engagement is the key to learning. There are various methods
2. you can use to engage and motivate learners for better results,
such as role play, discussion, on-the-job training, simulation,
self-directed learning, business games, case studies, team work,
behavior modeling, etc.
Styles of Learning
People have different styles of learning. These learning styles
help them to acquire new information and knowledge. There are
many different learning styles but for simplicity they can be
broken down into four major categories.

Written Word
- Knowledge is acquired best through the written word.
Reading is the preferred way of gaining knowledge.
Auditory
- Listening to presented information and retaining the major
portion of what has been heard.
Visual
- Seeing pictures, diagrams, and illustrations enables the
learner to grasp the concepts being presented.
Kinesthetic/Tactile
- Involves touch and manipulative activities. Requires eye-
hand-body coordination.
As you select a delivery method you need to keep in mind that
by varying the methods you will be focusing on the different
learning styles of your participants.
The outputs of the development phase serve as inputs to the
3. implementation phase. The implementation phase’s output is the
trainees’ response to training, the trainees’ learning, their
behavior back on the job, and its effect on key organizational
outcomes. These outcomes, combined with the process
evaluations, flow back to the proper constituencies within the
training area and the rest of the organization.

Roles of the trainer: Instructor vs. Facilitator
Instructing and facilitating are two different activities. They
require some of the same skills, and some different skills. A
trainer in the role of instructor is often a content expert, while a
facilitator is a process expert. An instructor uses lecture,
conducts demonstrations, supervises skill practice, and corrects
the learners’ mistakes. A facilitator leads discussions and helps
participants learn from their own experiences and shared
information. The trainer, as instructor, might lead a discussion
about course content; a facilitator will focus more on the
process of a discussion. This table shows some of the common
differences between the role of a trainer as an instructor and a
facilitator:

Adult Learning
As stated by Wlodkowski and cited by Kelly (2006), there are
three phases of learning which are interdependent on each other
to produce an atmosphere conducive to learning. The process
5. begins with the establishment of a positive attitude, followed by
a stimulating experience that engages the learner and concludes
with demonstration of competence and positive feedback that
reinforces the learning (Kelly, 2006). Providing a learning
environment specifically designed to motivate adult learners is
essential and does not stop at simply gaining the attention of the
audience; it must also keep the attention to truly facilitate
learning. Andragogy, according to Kelly (2006), is the “first
learning theory specifically designed for adults” and
incorporates the idea that the learning process is uniquely
affected by life experiences (p. 44). Following the premise that
learning is self-directed, Andragogy finds that “information
must be used soon after its presentation for adults to accept and
absorb the learning” (Kelly, 2006, p. 44). Adult learners are
purpose-oriented, seeking information to develop skills that
have direct application.
It is essential to incorporate the theories of Andragogy into the
training methods of adult learners. By focusing information that
has specific application and taking into consideration the life
experiences that they bring may influence their process of
learning, one can incorporate training experiences that produce
the greatest outcome for adult learners. Blanchard and Thacker
(2013) touch on the affect that life experience and differing
KSA’s have on the ability to control the learning environment.
They state that the differences that can be viewed as hindrances
should actually be embraced and can create value to the
learning environment if the participants are willing to share
their KSA’s and life experiences (Blanchard & Thacker, 2010).
Understanding what motivates adult learners and how they
process the information has a huge impact on the type of
training methods to choose. Since the first adult learning theory
was developed, it has been argued that adults learn differently
because, among other things, they bring with them experiences
that children do not. Andragogy (how adults learn) differs from
Pedagogy (how children learn) in that pedagogy does not
address prior experiences. To this extent we can say that they
6. are different, however, even with young learners, andragogical
or a mix of andragogical-pedagogical approaches, work better
than purely pedagogical ones. The reason for this is simple; we
retain and understand better those things that relate to our
experience or real world situations. Knowles coined the term
andragogy but he evolved in his views. His most recent
conclusion is that the use of andragogical and pedagogical
principles is to be determined by the situation and not the age of
the learner.
Transfer of training is the effective application of the skills and
concepts presented during training. In other words, transfer of
training is the reason we train in the first place. There are many
barriers to the effective transfer of training. Participants may
not be willing or ready to learn; supervisors and coworkers may
not make it easy to apply new skills in the workplace; or there
may simply be too many distractions when returning to work to
even remember that training ever happened. Many researchers
(Wenz & Adams, 1991) in the field of adult education agree that
there are four sources, in addition to the design and delivery of
the training, that influence the amount of transfer of training
that takes place. The four sources of influence are:
Participants
Trainers
Direct supervisors
The organization
Each of these sources can cause the transfer of training to
increase or decrease. For example, participants can be willing to
learn. Supervisors can ignore or reinforce the training. Trainers
can make the training relevant, and the organization can offer a
climate that is conducive to change and minimize the risk
involved in trying new skills.
Another idea researchers agree on is that barriers can be created
or eliminated before, during, and after training occurs (Broad &
Newstrom, 1992). This means what happens before training and
after training is as important, if not more important, than what
happens during the training experience. As a trainer, you can
7. make it easier for participants to benefit from training by
focusing on learning effectiveness. That means ensuring that
everything about the training is driven by specific learning
outcomes.
Skills needed in the first phase (analysis) included analyzing
needs to determine priorities and the ability to determine
whether training or some other intervention is required. Skills
needed in designing and developing learning in the second and
third phase included, understanding of adult learning theory and
principles in developing a curriculum, the ability to apply
blended learning solutions such as online, classroom, on-the-job
training, etc. and establish effective learning objectives. In
implementation, presenting and facilitating skills are necessary
to arrange environments for learning, align learning
methodologies with learner styles and preferences, demonstrate
