Final Year Project Report Device Control using smsMuhammad Shakeel
This document describes a project to develop a hardware system that can control electric appliances via SMS messages. The system utilizes a microcontroller interfaced with a GSM modem to receive SMS commands and switch devices on or off. The literature review discusses GSM modems and how they operate using AT commands to send and receive SMS texts. It also explains how to interface a microcontroller with a GSM modem serially using a MAX232 chip for voltage conversion. Relays are used to control high-power appliances as the microcontroller cannot source enough current directly. The project aims to implement this remote device control system using SMS for a stand-alone hardware device.

The document discusses building positive relationships with students and the importance of classroom variation. It emphasizes establishing rapport and trust with students to make them feel welcomed and connected. Classroom variation, or presenting material in different ways, is important to engage students who learn in different ways such as through seeing, hearing, or doing an activity. The document also provides examples of methods for achieving learning goals and evaluating whether students have learned the material.
This document discusses using the Danielson Framework for Teaching to change school culture. It recommends analyzing the current culture, decoding the framework to develop common understandings, creating an observation and coaching system, and encouraging personalized professional development. The framework can shift from an evaluation tool to one that drives cultural change when school leaders work with teachers to define expectations for each component, develop artifacts of proficient practice, and facilitate goal-setting focused on growth. Regular observations and meaningful conversations about practice can then support teacher development and transformation of the school culture.
The document is the 9th issue of the CIS Newsletter from the Computer & Information Sciences Department at Prince Sultan University. It also announces the new revised IS curriculum to be implemented in September 2012, revising the IS core course credits from 21 to 36 and including new courses focused on internet technologies, visual programming, web design, web-based systems development and information systems security. The student editor, Lamis AbuSaleh, congratulates colleagues who participated in projects and competitions and encourages others to do so in the future.
Central leadership is important for schools to succeed. Effective principals develop outstanding schools by creating a shared vision, motivating teachers, and managing change. While educational leadership shares similarities with corporate leadership, such as setting goals and influencing others, schools differ in that they aim to develop students' knowledge and emotions rather than produce uniform outputs. Future schools will need to focus on inclusion, sustainability, and reducing competition to make learning less stressful. They will undergo structural changes and move beyond traditional assessments to more open, technology-enabled evaluations. Schools must become learning organizations that collaborate and accept new ideas to prepare students for a fast-changing world.
This document discusses a survey conducted with 206 business students at Kookmin University in Korea regarding responsible management education. Key findings include:
- Students want more awareness and infrastructure for responsible management education, as well as ways to apply concepts practically.
- While most agree responsible practices can lead to profits, there are gaps between students' ideals and realities.
- Student leaders call for more professor and industry support for related extracurricular activities and official approval of student organizations.
- The document proposes strengthening partnerships between universities, students and companies to better meet student needs through cooperation and networking.

This document provides guidance and reflections for educational leaders. It discusses the importance of reflecting on one's leadership journey and understanding the context in which one leads. Great leaders confront brutal facts, stick to their core values such as focusing on students, build strong relationships, and continuously reflect and improve. To drive growth, leaders must provide vision, excellence and service while fostering innovation. Leaders are called to address problems with small, practical solutions and continue progressing each day.
Schoolwide Change Through Improved Teacher Instructioncatapultlearn
Schoolwide change comes about through improved teacher instruction, but the role of the principal as the instructional leader is also central to this premise. Vibrant learning communities are developed when these roles work together. This two-part webinar will explore the principal’s role in providing the environment where student achievement is enhanced, then investigate how the teacher’s role is strengthened in providing sound and effective instruction, regardless of the standards that drive a school in its pursuit of excellence.
In this webinar, you will learn:
The universal, constant concepts to deliver effective student learning
How education resides in the culture of change
The Four Essential Skills for an Effective Learning Leader
The importance of communicating clear learning targets to students
How formative assessments drive effective instruction
How to enhance engagement and promote deeper understanding of content through student-centered learning environments

The document discusses curriculum innovation and the spectrum of innovation from incremental to radical changes. It explores factors that influence the adoption of innovations including relative advantage, compatibility, complexity, trialability, and observability. Business leaders argue that education must better prepare students for life after school and support the development of skills, character, and attitudes needed to progress. Teachers recognize the need for paradigm shifts in education to focus more on student abilities than age and help students find their passions. Overhauling the current system to make these changes will require overcoming barriers of tradition and bureaucracy.
The document discusses how to become an effective teacher and create a culture of teacher excellence. It emphasizes that the most important factor in student achievement is having effective teachers. To develop teacher expertise, schools must focus on professional development, training, and creating a collaborative culture where teachers learn from each other. The most successful schools invest in ongoing "teacher capital" and prioritize instructional skills and proficiency over other reforms. They establish routines and beliefs that learning is the top priority and support new teachers with induction programs and learning teams.

Teacher Leadership Vision Statement
Dear (Tina),
In order to further develop a community, much more a learning environment for children, one must be able to go beyond the ordinary. Teachers are made not only to teach but to lead as well. To make these teachers effective leaders, we ask the support of our colleagues, the school administration, our students and their parents, and most importantly, our stakeholders. On our end, we will do our best to maximize all our resources and services and capitalize on our strengths and assets in order to fulfill our roles as teachers, as well as to deliver to the school administration as well as to our dear stakeholders. You, as a stakeholder, have been identified as a credible partner of our organization in enriching children’s lives and furthering young skills and talents. As a stakeholder, we value your input in improving our services since the success of this process depends on your involvement at that of our other stakeholders’. As a partner working towards the betterment of our institution, together we must achieve the following:
· An enriching environment for learners to nurture their skills and further their development.
· A community of teachers and learners working towards one goal and reaching it through productive and plausible means.
· To lead with pride and purpose in order to encompass all forms of student development and improve student learning.
· A community where equality is valued; where one’s opportunities are not determined by his/her social status in life nor his/her physical condition.
· A community where one’s skills and talented can be nurtured and maximized to its full potential. I aim to discredit the notion that a student’s success is driven by his/her background, I want to be able to change that and support everyone regardless of his/her social background and status in life. One’s success should depend on the student’s willingness to learn and hone his/her skills, on the student’s determination to get the job done as excellently as possible, and on the student’s overall performance.
· A learning community where excellent ideas and strategies are exchanged between students and teachers, where problems are being solved collaboratively through consultations with expert colleagues.
· To inculcate values of optimism, collaboration, and innovation in our daily activities and work ethic to better inspire colleagues and students to work just the same.
· An education system where collaboration and freedom of professional inquiry are promoted; this will not all be of help to the students but to my colleagues as well.
· Lastly, I envision a life-giving learning community rooted in our core values of passion, equality, and determination guided by the mission to bring out each child’s potential.
All of these will be made possible if accompanied by unyielding support and active participation from the school administration, fellow teachers, students, as well as their parents. It is m ...

This document discusses feedback and Research-Informed Teaching (RIT) in higher education. It provides an overview of the TESTA program which aims to improve feedback through a modular approach. Student feedback revealed that current feedback is often not helpful for improvement and focuses too much on grades rather than progress. The document advocates for closing the feedback loop and involving students more in feedback and assessment. RIT is presented as an opportunity to link teaching and research more closely through activities like action research or student involvement in disciplinary research. Effective implementation of feedback principles and increased RIT could help address issues around student engagement and learning.
