The parts of a computer slideshow for grades 3-4. Includes a quiz and activity. The activity is supposed to have the students act out the parts of a computer.
*ROM is READ ONLY MEMORY - I had a typo...sorry!
Hardware refers to the physical components of a computer system, including devices like the central processing unit (CPU), memory, storage, and input/output peripherals. It represents the tangible, touchable elements that make up a computer or electronic system. On the other hand, software encompasses the intangible programs, applications, and data that enable hardware functionality. It includes operating systems, applications, and utilities that instruct and control the hardware to perform specific tasks. While hardware provides the infrastructure, software serves as the brain, orchestrating operations and allowing users to interact with the system, making the combination of both essential for the functioning of any computer or electronic device.

4. WEBCAM
A webcam – short for ‘web camera’ – is a
digital camera that’s connected to a
computer.
5. SCANNER
An optical device that reads a printed
page or transparency and converts it
into a graphics image for the computer.
6. MICROPHONE
A device that converts sound waves into analogous
electrical waves. Usually called a "mic" or "mike," it
contains a flexible diaphragm composed of film or
foil that vibrates as it makes contact with the
sound.
7. OUTPUT DEVICES
PRINTER
Printer is a machine used to transfer text or
images to paper, or a person or company whose job
it is to produce text or images on paper.
8. MONITOR
The monitor works with a video card,
located inside the computer case, to display
images and text on the screen.
11. PROJECTOR

especially one used to project an image (moving
images) onto a screen.
12. PROCESS DEVICES
CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT
CPU – Central Processing Unit
The central computational and control unit of a
computer system, the CPU controls the interpretation
and execution of instructions. The CPU contains the
arithmetic logic unit (ALU), whichperforms
mathematical calculations, and the control unit,
which retrieves instructionsfrom memory, accepts
calculations from the ALU, and executesthe
instructions. The CPU often is contained on a single
silicon chip, known as a microprocessor. CPU
commonly is interchangeable
with microprocessor and processor.
13. MOTHERBOARD
a printed circuit board containing the principal
components of a computer or other device, with
connectors into which other circuit boards can
be slotted.
14. PROCESSOR
A microprocessor is a computer processor
that incorporates the functions of a computer's
central processing unit (CPU) on a single
integrated circuit (IC), or at most a few
integrated circuits.
15. NETWORK CARD
a device that can be slotted into a computer to
allow the use of audio components for
multimedia applications.
17. STORAGE DEVICES
OPTICAL DISC
DISC - a thin, flat, circular plate coated with
ferromagnetic particles, on which computer
data can be stored.
18. MEMORY CARD
MEMORY CARD - A removable module that contains
non-volatile flash memory chips used for storage in
digital cameras and mobile devices. The major card
types are SD Cards, Memory Sticks and
CompactFlash; the SD Card family being the most
popular.
19. FLOPPY DISK
Floppy Disk - A flexible plastic disk coated
with magnetic material and covered by a
protective jacket, used for storing data
magnetically.
20. An optical device that projects a beam of light,
especially one used to project an image (moving
images) onto a screen.
21. HARD DISK - The primary computer storage medium,
which is made of one or more aluminum or glass
platters, coated with a ferromagnetic material.
Although the terms "hard disk" and "hard drive" are
used synonymously; technically, the disk spins inside
the drive.
23. APPLICATION SOFTWARE

software developed and manufactured
by Adobe Systems Inc. Photoshop. The software
allows users to manipulate, crop, resize, and
correct color on digital photos.
24. MS Powerpoint - a software package designed to create
electronic presentations consisting of a series of
separate pages or slides.
25. MOVIE MAKER - allows you to quickly build
a personalized movie that incorporates
video, still images, background music, and
narration.
26. MS WORD - Word files are commonly used as
the format for sending text documents via e-
mail because almost every user with a
computer can read a Word document by using
the Word application, a Word viewer or a word
