Computer Essays
Writing an essay on the broad topic of "Computer Essays" can be both challenging and
rewarding. The difficulty arises from the vastness of the subject matter and the need to strike a
balance between technical details and accessible language for a diverse audience. The world of
computers encompasses a wide array of subtopics, including hardware, software, programming
languages, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and the societal impact of technology, to name
just a few.
One of the challenges lies in selecting a specific aspect of computer science or technology to
focus on, as attempting to cover the entire spectrum in a single essay would result in a superficial
treatment of each area. Once a topic is chosen, the writer must navigate through the complex
terminology and concepts, ensuring a coherent and understandable narrative.
Additionally, staying up-to-date with the rapidly evolving field of computer science poses a
challenge. Technological advancements occur frequently, and new breakthroughs can render
certain information outdated quickly. This necessitates continuous research to provide accurate
and current information in the essay.
Furthermore, striking a balance between technical depth and simplicity is crucial. While it's
important to provide accurate information, it's equally essential to communicate complex
concepts in a way that is accessible to a general audience. This requires skill in explaining
intricate ideas without oversimplifying or alienating the reader.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Computer Essays" demands a careful selection of a specific
topic, in-depth research, and the ability to convey complex information in an accessible manner.
It's a task that requires a blend of technical knowledge and writing proficiency to create a well-
rounded and informative piece.

Fa Mulan In The Woman Warrior
In The Woman Warrior, Maxine Hong Kingston depicts Fa Mulan as an inspirational,
incredible, young warrior. The narrator desperately needs to have the strength and
power of Fa Mulan. However, the narrator s family follows the stereotype of the
women in the kitchen and taking care of the children while the men work to
financially help the family. The narrator also feels like she knows nothing about her
ancestors. The narrator s motherand her sisters, battle against ghosts, insane asylums,
and suicide. The nameless aunt that Brave Orchid guilt trips, proves Brave Orchid s
old school lifestyle of the unfair and inequality of women. Brave Orchid infiltrated

Losing Someone Close Is Not Any Easy Task
Losing someone close is not any easy task. I always looked in the mirror and told
myself, It will get better, I will make it through this storm. Only to slowly be
brought back into reality and try understand that they are never going to come
back. You get comfortable with it, after having to do it every day, multiple times.
Waking up to call a name that will not be mentioned again because it is too painful
to rethink. It seems like every day becomes harder and even more difficult to
overcome. I thought that we would live forever, that every person would stay
healthy and live forever. I come to realize extremely fast that I was very wrong. I
woke up one warm, sunny morning and did my usual morning routine. At age
seven, there isn t too much to do besides brush my hair and teeth. I got dressed and
ate a small, quick breakfast to accompany my mother to run errands. After going to
various different stores, we eventually went to meet my sister s father in order to
get a little cash for the babysitter. Finally we go home and sit in the living room to
rest after being in the blistering sun. Everyone sitting around the room, talking
amongst each other and watching television. There my dear mother sat on the
couch, inhaling the terrible toxins of her cigarette. Talking to my grandma, her
mother, about the upcoming plans of this week. Her lips began to turn a light shade
of blue, my mom sitting there with a dazed look on her face as the color of blue on
her lips begin to darken.
Populist Party Thesis
The Populist Party After the Grant Administration Scandal and the intimidation of
Political Machines like Tammany Hall, Americans in the 1890s were fed up with
the traditional Republican and Democratic parties. The people were ready for
change, and from this dissatisfaction, the Populist Party was born. The Populist
Party, also call the People s Party, sought to transform the federal government in
favor of public interest. The Populist Party helped to bring about change that
Americans wanted, and the efforts of this party are still noticeable in today s
government. The Populists wanted the government to be more actively involved in
the economy. Prior to this plea for reform, the American federal government played a
small role in economy; their job was to stimulate economic growth, not to regulate it.
In their 1896 National Platform, the Populists called for higher income tax on the
more wealthy citizens. The graduated income tax endorsed by Populists was adopted
after the dissipation of the Party and is still used today. Currently, depending on...

The Populist Party recognized that privately owned railroads proved to be a real
problem for farmers who were trying to ship crops across the country at reasonable
prices. The new party called for a switch from private to public owned and regulated
railroads. In the 1896 Platform, the Populists argued that since the railroads were a
means of exchange and public necessity , then the government should operate the
railroads in the best interest of the people. They claimed the Robber Barons, like
Andrew Carnegie, of the railroad corporations would cause the impairment if not
destruction of the political rights and personal liberties of the citizens. Monopolies
are now illegal in the United States because they prohibit fairness and competition

My Experience At Starbucks And Drinking Coffee
I sit in my kitchen every morning, with one eye open, listening to the sound of the
dripping water as it fills the clear decanter with black liquid gold. The smell of
hazelnut aroma fills the air and a sigh of relief escapes my breath knowing that it s
almost time to taste the delicious coffee that will awaken my senses and help me start
the new day. Coffee, also known as Joe, Dirt, Brew, Java, Jitter Juice, and Liquid
Energy, has been a staple in my family since I was a small boy. I still remember my
father hunched over the kitchen table reading the morning newspaper while drinking
a fresh cup of Joe. As an adult I have come to appreciate coffee especially in the
morning, relaxing with friends at Starbucks or an after dinner treat.... Show more

In addition, carbohydrates play an important role in the coffee bean.
Carbohydrates serve as an aroma binder in raw coffee beans. They help the quality
of coffee by contributing to its thickness and consistency. In other studies
carbohydrates in coffee have also been known as dietary fiber to assist probiotics
within the digestive system. Coffee is also the number one source of antioxidants.
This simple drink is concentrated with a group of antioxidants that are called
flavonoids. According to medical journals flavonoids possess antiviral, anti
allergic, anti platelet, anti inflammatory, and antitumor activities. Coffee has been
around for many first discovered in 850 A.D by a goatherder who noticed an
energetic change in the goats after eating the red berries. The name coffee comes
from the Kaffa region of Ethiopia where coffee trees grow wild (). Ethiopia is
considered a major exporter of Arabica coffee beans. Arabica trees grown in the
wild have been known to produce coffee beans for up to thirty years. Whereas the
shrub or small tree also known as Coffea, that grows 15 to 20 feet high, will produce
a mature fruit that looks like a cherry and contains two seeds that is surrounded by a
sweet pulp. In addition, coffee has been cultivated in warm climates
Arguments Against Vegetarianism
To most people vegetarianism means the refraining of meat, primarily red meat, from
personal consumption. Although the traditional vegetarian abstinence of red meat
has grown into a group of varied lifestyles, little is known about them. To some
people vegetarians are considered to be a drop out of the hippy era, or are labelled as
quot;weird quot; or quot;feral quot;. Because of the misinterpretations surrounding
vegetarianismin society I am going to outline the various diets which are recognized
as vegetarianism. I hope by writing this I can change some attitudes and
misunderstandings, of the motivations behind the vegetarian lifestyles.

meat, some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Well there is actually a growing market for vegan foods in super markets, as the
benefits of soya and gluten become more recognized. From soy milk to vegan sausage
rolls to vegan pizza made with vegan cheese, its all there; and it all tastes, smells and
looks just like the original, yet these alternatives are free of cholesterol and any
animal products.
The most disciplined vegetarian choice is the whole food vegetarian, which is
based on the vegan diet, but which takes it to the extreme of abstaining from all
highly processed foods: i.e. white bread, white sugar, white rice etc. They rely
almost solely on nutrients from whole foods; fruit and vegetables, nuts and seeds,
wholemeal and wholegrain foods, soy produce and sometimes gluten based foods,
such as vegan burgers. Some vegans tend to lean towards this diet, but usually still
use some foods which include processed flours or sugars. Although for health
reasons it is always good to make use of wholemeal or wholegrain alternatives rather
then more processed types of food. Most people don t actually base their entire diet
around it due to the high discipline required.
Of course these are just a handful of recognized vegetarian diets, there are no strict
guidelines for being a vegetarian. The discipline involved in the diet is really up to
the person, there are many motivations for vegetarianism, everyone finds their own,
and depending on your personal reasons the extent of your diet will be reflected.

Blindness Or Low Vision, Cancer, And Alzheimer s Disease
Blindness or low vision is one of the most feared illness by Americans, ranking
fourth after acquired immunodeficiency by syndrome, cancer, and Alzheimer s
disease. The National Eye Institute reports that blindness or low vision affect 3.3
million American 40 years and older, this number is projected to reach 5.5 million
by 2020. As the U.S. population ages, the number of persons with major eye disease
is increasing. Octogenarians currently make up 8 percent of the population, but they
account for 69 percent of blindness. Age related macular degeneration (AMD)
accounts for 54 percent of all blindness and is the leading cause of blindness
among white Americans. Cataracts are the most prevalent eye disease in older
persons and are the leading cause of blindness worldwide. Almost all persons in
their 90s will have had a cataract surgery is the most common therapeutic surgical
procedure reimbursed by Medicare, with more than 1.5 million operations performed
annually. Diabetic retinopathy is the leading cause of new blindness in U.S. adults
20 to 74 years of age. Low visionranks behind arthritis and heart disease as the third
most common chronic cause of impaired function in persons older than 70 years.
Patients with vision impairment are more likely to fall, make medication errors, have
depression, or report social isolation. With rehabilitation, many patients with impaired
vision can attain independence, retain their jobs, and lessen their reliance on social

Moral Dilemmas In Remember The Titans
Good morning Mr Harrop and fellow peers. Today I will be analysing the moral
issues and moral dilemmas in non literary texts, so that we can understand and
evaluate how test structures, language and visual features can be used to influence an
audience response. An exemplar of many moral and ethical dilemmas is shown
through popular sport inspiring movie, Remember The Titans (Yakin, 2000) directed
by Boaz Yakin. Yakins has a gift for dealing with controversial human issues, by
facing the characters with racism, peer pressure and selfishness. Alongside the writer
Gregory Allen Howard, they have utilized textual structures, language features and
visual features to influence the audience s response. Remember The Titans follows

He seems to want the audience to respond with shock and sympathy as they
witness how vile the black people are treated. One of the few racism dilemma s is
shown after Gerry, Alan and Ray are returned to the high school after coach Yoast
stops them from joining the city riots. Infuriated with the black people fighting
back, Gerry instigates the racism and discrimination, snarling, Hell why don t you
just kick em all off the team. I don t wanna play with any of them black animals.
This scene was very effective and coincided with the use of close up camera shots
to enhance Gerry s emotions, whilst reinforcing Yakin s message that black people
were treated poorly and erratically. After Gerry s disastrous car accident, Coach
Boone is faced with the moral dilemma of selfishness. Boone has always been a
coach who strives to win, not only for himself, but for the team, however after the
accident, he lacks empathy for the boys and thinks more about what he wants. When
he suggests that the team incorporate more training to cope with the changes so that
they can win, Yoast feels that Boone is being selfish and lacking consideration of
the team s loss, so confronts him with the questions Is this even about football
anymore? Or is it just about you? To express his reaction to being described as
selfish, the

who lived in the northwest region of America called themselves Nimipu (nee mee

call them today due to the French seeing the Indians with pierced noses and call
them Nez Perce meaning pierced nose and the name stuck. Can you imagine what it
would be like to live in the northwest region of America 400 years ago and where

Cell Phones in School
CELL PHONES IN SCHOOL Who doesn t have a cell phone these days? The
amazing thing about cell phones is that they are no longer just used for calling or
texting. They have become an indispensable multi tool wonder. Today s cell phone is
cutting edge technology at your fingertips. With this in mind, should students be
permitted to use cell phones in school? I believe they should not just be permitted to
use cell phones, they should be required to use them. Cell phones don t just allow
students to stay connected with family and friends, they are also an excellent learning
resource, and they encourage the responsible use of technology. To begin with, cell

In conclusion, people who oppose the use of cell phones in school do it because of
the disruptions and distractions cell phones can cause. But we must accept that we
live in a world of technology and that cell phones are an important and very useful
part of that world. We miss out if we fail to take advantage of the educational power
of the cell phone. All in all, cell phones improve communication, provide learning
resources, and encourage appropriate use of technology. Teachers and administrators
must find ways to incorporate this excellent multi tool in our schools. As you ve

Research Paper On Copernicus
Copernicus identified the concept of heliocentric Solar System, which is that, in
which the Sun, rather than the Earth, was the center of our Solar System.
Copernicus was born on February 19, 1473 in Torun, Poland. In 1508, Copernicus
developed the first own celestial model of the heliocentric planetary system. Around
1514, he shared his model with the Commentariolus. His second book about the topic
De revolutionibus orbium coelestium was banned by Catholic Church no longer after
his death in May 24, 1534 in Frauenburg, Poland. When Copernicus was 10, his

Copernicus had the right and good amount of education. In 1491 Copernicus entered

Analysis Of Ready Player One By Ernest Cline
In Ready Player One, Ernest Cline s style can be described as descriptive due to
his use of being able to help yous visualize the world, being able to make you feel
the tension, and being able to relate and understand characters. Being able to
visualize the world is very important to a novel as you can put yourself into the
world and the situations that the characters go through. The stacks explanation (20
Cline). This explanation of the stacks displays how Ernest Cline is able to guide
you to create a picture in your mind of how vast and horrible this world is. This
description also helps to backup the fact why everyone hides in the oasis instead
of living outside in the real world. A story that is able to captivate a reader and
make them feel the tension in a stressful situation is incredible and truly add to the
emersion and power of a novel. 6ixers blow up the stacks (145 Cline). This part of
the novel makes you feel the suspense and terror going on through in Wades head
as he is unaware if Sorrento was bluffing or not. Then once the explosions go off he
has a look of terror on his face yet he is also kind of relieved that he was able to live
and thankful that he was in his hideout. The tension that you feel is very serious and
takes your breath away as you along with Wade are waiting for something to happen.
Along with tension being able to relate to characters . I wish someone had just told
me the truth right up front, as soon as I was old enough to understand. (Cline 16).
This sentence at the beginning of the novel shows a lot about Wade s character. Wade
doesn t like people sugar coating things for him he wants to always know exactly
what is going on just like most of society. Since the story follows Wade on his
journey most of the relatability comes from him such as his living situation and
how he was spending so much time working on finding the easter egg and finally
finding the first gate after years of research. Yet we can tell the personalities of
other characters like Aech as a strong, funny and supportive friend. Ernest Cline is
very descriptive in the way how he tells the story of Wade Watts and the world of

Steven Wallace
Steven Wallace is one of the most respected poets in America. Through his
progression, he had full determination to become successful writer. He was a
philosopher of aesthetics, vigorously exploring the notion of poetry. From his
extreme technical and thematic complexity of his work, employing extraordinary
vocabulary, and rigorous precision of crafting poems, Stevens was considered a
willfully difficult poet. He was acknowledged as eminent abstractionist and a
provocative think. His reputation lives on since his death.
Wallace Stevens was born in Reading Pennsylvania on the 2nd of October in 1879.
His family belonged to the Dutch Reformed Church and when Stevens became

Two years later, his father passed away and his mother passed away in 1912.
During this period, Stevens discontinued his passion to write poems, yet he was
involved in New York City s artistic community. He had many several friends
among New York writers and painters in Greenwich Village including poets such as
William Carlos Williams, E.E Cummings, Marianne Moore. During this time, he
had a fondness for modern painting, eventually becoming a collector of Asian art,
including pottery, and jewelery. He admired Asian works for their vivid colors and
their clarity, qualities that he later imparted to his own works. Through many
periods of job changes, he was one of the most impressive literacy achievements. In
the year 1915, he produced his first significant poems, Peter Quince at the Clavier
and Sunday Morning, and in 1916, he published his prize winning play, Three
Travelers Watch a Sunrise. He detached himself from all world affairs and politics;
though he cheered on for Italians fascist leader, Benito Mussolini Wallace contended
that his art constituted to reality.
After a successful life, Wallace Stevens passed away due to cancer on August, 1955.
Years after his death, Stevens reptation remains inspirational and respected. His
abstraction and his diction of his poetry has proven particularly among many students
and academicians. Stevens is an example of a poet whose main output came at an

The Environment And Corporate Environmental Impact On
The...
Most of the pollution is the result of human activities. There is no question that
human activities have badly harmed the natural environment and this negative impact
has always be a major concern. People starts to aware of the potential effect of
environmental damage on the ecosystems. Therefore there has been increasing
concern over the companies impacts on the environment(Hart 1995). Chatterji et al
(2009) mentioned that it becomes significant for the companies to take environmental
issues into consideration as there is an increasing interest in how the companies deal
with their environmental impact. Also, the public becomes more scrutiny about this
matter over time. The original concept of corporate social responsibilities focus only
on the social responsibilities, such as employment and consumer rights. As
environmental damage has become major concern in the recent years, the concept of
corporate social responsibilities has also covered environmental responsibilities, such
as water pollution and polluted gas emission, which in turn become one of the
important parts of corporate social responsibilities practices (Flammer 2013).
Globalisation has constantly developed the concept of corporate social
responsibilities in which the method of handling the companies environmental
consequences is important for maintaining or improving the corporate image.
Therefore many companies utilise the corporate social responsibilities practices and
disclose them in the annual

Examples Of Hero In The Outsiders
Batman, Spider Man, Superman: we associate each of these characters as an
idealistic hero. Growing up, a hero meant someone who had enough courage to fight
off the enemy. We imagine our heroes in a cape or costume out saving the lives of
many. An ideal hero would receive achievements for his or her efforts, but those
heroes do not compare to the American Hero. In early European literature, a hero was
one who ventured on a journey with hopes to return home a hero. Although similar,
an American Hero is different from a European Hero for the values and way of life
differed from Europe to the United States. To be a uniquely American Hero, one must
not expect praise as a result of their selfless journey away from civilization throughout

Hawkeye is an American Hero since he does not anticipate admiration for finding
himself through his exertion in nature. American Heros have a unique way of
functioning in society.
A wide variety of examples allude to the American Hero. American Heroes isolate
themselves in nature. An example of this is Rip Van Winkle in the short story, Rip
Van Winkle, when he goes for a walk into the woods to escape his wife. Rip is not
happy in his current situation, so he takes it upon himself to abort and solve his
problems through nature. Like Ponyboy Curtis, Rip endeavours an adventure as
remotely far away from civilization. Since Rip undergoes a journey throughout
nature without the existence of society, he is an American Hero. In The Last
American Man, a man by the name of Eustace Conway believes humans belong in
nature. When Conway was 12 he began to isolate himself in the woods alone,
living off the land. At 17, he moved out of his family home and lived in a teepee
out in the woods, surviving solely off the land and his own wilderness survival
abilities. Eustace took it upon himself to strive through life without the help of
others. He did not expect help from anyone nor did he expect praise for his immense
accomplishments throughout his life in the woods. Another example of an American

The Influence Of Renaissance Theatres
Today, it is not that common for society to take in interest in Renaissance Theatres
which is a shame considering how much time and work go into designing and
building this beautiful buildings. Today there are only three Renaissance Theatres
lasting in existence. It is astounding to read that only three of theatres are left. It
must have taken a lot of planning and hard work in order to make those theatres
perfect and last as long as they have. One of Italy s greatest architects, Andrea
Palladio had the honor of designing one of those Renaissance Theatres. That theatre
is called the Teatro Olimpico. Andrea Palladio was introduced into architecture by
his father when he was just a child. At the young age of sixteen, Palladio decided it

The theatre is located where Andrea used to live so he knew the area and buildings
quite well. The Academia gained the rights to build a long lasting theatre in an old
fortress and wanted to pay Palladio to design the theatre for them. Renaissance
Theatres took place in mid sixteenth century and early seventeenth century. The
Teatro Olimpico was built to be a permanent theatre instead of a temporary one that
could be taken down at any moment. The theatre was designed to look like it was
outdoors even though it is an indoor theatre. The old fortress was an odd shape
compared to other buildings that were standing in Vicenza, but Palladio made it
work. His way of designing was based on mathematical proportions and did not
focus too much on style aspect of the theatre. The Teatro Olimpico is known for
having a, royal arch that is in the middle of the stage. Palladio added columns on
the stage. There were five places from where the performers on stage could enter
and exit for their scenes. It also had a semicircular seating area so he had to find a
way to flatten that area in order to allow space for a stage and a seating area. The
Teatro Olimpico was influenced by Roman and Greek architecture. Palladio took
everything that he had learned since he was a young child and applied it to his
design for the theatre. Since Palladio was seventy two at the time of designing the
theatre he had so much experience and was perfect for the job. Construction
Russian Duels In A Hero Of Our Time And Eugene Onegin
Narrative Russian writers seem to enjoy inserting a duel in their literature. There s
Pierre s duel with Dolohov in Tolstoy s War and Peace; there s Onegin s duel with
Lensky in Pushkin s Eugene Onegin; there s Pechorin s duel with Grushnitsky in
Lermontov s A Hero of Our Time, and Bazarov duel with Pavel in Turgenev s
Fathers and Sons. In this paper, however, making comparisons between the duels
from A Hero of Our Time and Eugene Onegin will be the primary focus. When it
comes to deciding if dueling was a noble form of conflict resolution, both writers
seem to indirectly portray to the reader that duels are unimpressive and ineffective.
Both writers emphasize on the challenges that could happen before, during, and after
a Russian duel. If the writers wanted to portray to the readers that duels were
honorable, then they would have not displayed the challenges that each character
faced while they participated in the duel. A similarity between the two duels of A
Hero of Our Time and Eugene Onegin is who ultimately ends up being killed. Both
Lermontov and Onegin kill a character that was foolish, and who, perhaps, should not
have died. In A Hero of Our Time, Grushnitsky foolishly challenges Pechorin after
mistakenly assuming that Pechorin snuck into Princess Mary s residence to see her
when she was home alone. However, Pechorin had actually snuck into the residence
to see Vera, but Grushnitsky, blinded by jealousy, does not realize the truth. During
the duel, Pechorin gains
Golden Girl Short Story
The short story, Golden Girl , by Gillian Chan, follows the story of a girl named
Donna, and her rough friendship with Anna. The reason for this rough friendship
is because of Donna s lack of good character, which is evident in her actions
throughout the story. At the beginning she proves to be selfish, then later she
shows no regard for Anna s problems, and at the end she acts on jealousy. Donna
proves to be selfish at the beginning when she talks about why she is friends with
Anna, I worked hard to be Anna s friend. Don t get me wrong it was worth it ... Her
dad s loaded, and nothing s too good for Princess . (78) This quotation infers that

Equal Pay Act And Title Ix
It is the year 2016, the United States has had its first African American president, gay
marriage is legalized, and women and men are supposedly seen as equals in the
workplace and educational institutions. It is important to note that while steps to
equality have been made through the Equal Pay Act and Title IX, gender
discrimination is still prevalent in society. The NCAA reported since 1988, in the
2007 2008 academic year, institutions yielded a net gain of 2, 342 women s teams
added to varsity rosters (Pickett, Dawkins, Braddock, 2012). There are now more than
174,000 female collegiate athletes thanks to Title IX (Koller, 2010). Though there has
been a substantial increase in female athletic participation, this number is still
nowhere near the participation of male athletes. Many women still do not participate
in sports due to discrimination and the concept of equality in Title IX could
potentially affect women s interest in athletic participation.
Sports teach important life lessons such as teamwork, discipline, leadership and time
management that benefit males and females alike. Women who participate in sports
are more likely to have a higher self esteem, positive body image, better physical and
mental health and greater educational success. Youth who participate in athletics
learn positive social behaviors, have better academic performance and have lower
participation rates in destructive decisions such as drugs, alcohol and pregnancy. The

Importance of Hunting
Importance of hunting.
Like baseball and apple pie, hunting is an American tradition shared by young and
old, rich and poor, regardless of social or economic status. Three out of every ten
people are against hunting but for what reasons? What makes them stand out from the
seven out of ten that are for hunting? My preference supports hunting for many
reasons. Hunting is important because without it there would be animals struggling
to survive because of the shortage of the nutrient food they need on a daily basis to
stay healthy. It would also cut down the number of damage done to vehicles by
animals. It also gets more kids outdoors and involved in agriculture activities which

The Positive Effects Of Employment On Lowering
Recidivism
Much research has been done regarding the positive effect employment has on
lowering recidivism. However, little research has been done to determine the effect
a criminal record, including registration as a sex offender, has on finding gainful
employment. Holzer s 1996 study (as cited by Johnson, 2006) found that two thirds
of employers in major cities would avoid hiring known ex offenders, indicating that
regardless of public policies that may make finding employment difficult, ex
offenders ultimately still have to overcome the social stigma of their criminal
histories. Negative community attitudes towards criminal history are even worse for
those who are registered sex offenders (Willis, Levenson, Ward, 2010). With the

However, the researchers also found that the unemployment rate among released
offenders was over six times higher than that of the general population at the time
of the study in 2009. Furthermore, the unemployment rate among ex offenders
within nine months of release from prison was between 92 97 percent. Potential
Barriers to Employment Unemployment can be especially hard to tackle when a
limited number of fields are open to those who are looking for jobs. A 1998
Bureau of Justice Statisitcs Report (as quoted by Travis, Solomon, Waul, 2001)
found that a number of fields were off limits to ex offenders looking for work,
including law, real estate, medicine, nursing, physical therapy, and education .
Released sex offenders may face further restrictions in which fields they may enter
depending on the stipulations of their release. Johnson (2006) notes that due to
internet usage restrictions, some released sex offenders are not able to perform jobs
that require use of the internet. Such restrictions may severely limit the job
opportunities for ex offenders. Once an ex offender finds a field in which they can
work, they can be subject to further scrutiny through the use of criminal background
checks by hiring managers. Nally, et al. (2014) noted a number of studies showing that
Silhouettes In The 50 s
The 1940 s was a turning point in fashion when the New Look by Christian Dior
was created in 1947. The new silhouette included soft rounded shoulders, was nipped
in the waist, and had a long full skirt. This silhouette along with Christian Dior s tight
skirted silhouette in dresses and suits and the A line look all continued into the 1950
s and remained the three main silhouettes for most of the decade. His three
silhouettes influenced all kinds of attire including prom dresses, casual everyday
wear and even children s clothing. Figure 4 shows my great grandmother and
grandfather in their home in 1955. Everyday dresses were very important during this
time because many women did not work but still wanted to remain fashionable in
their home.
Robert Reich On Social Inequality
Social inequality is something our ancestors had to deal with and something our
children will have to deal with. This is an ongoing issue addressed by many but
solved by none. Social inequality is inevitable in this capitalistic society. This idea
of social inequality promotes the idea of capitalism which then promotes the
American Dream. The American Dream has become harder to reach than ever
before. Since the middle class is shrinking, the lower class finds it near to impossible
to work their way up the ladder. Due to new fortunes in industry, the lower class has a
cap set over them that they cannot quite break from. Big businesses and the one
percent has stomped on the American Dream. To reduce this flaw in social inequality,

The right of the laborer to his hundred dollars in the savings bank, and equally the
legal right of the millionaire to his millions, this is what Carnegie calls intense
individualism (Carnegie 488). This idea is essentially the heart of capitalism. As
humans, it is natural for most to be competitive and have the drive to be successful.
The competition, also referred to as survival of the fittest, pushes most people to be
the best and work hard so they can have the higher status. When you work hard and
get an earning from that, it is instinctive for most to want to keep that money, not give
it away. This is the idea of the American Dream, when you pull yourself up from the
bootstraps to give yourself the life you wanted. This competition does not only fall
within individuals but companies as well. This competitiveness and desire to be the
best is constantly stimulating the economy. When wealth is just handed out like
Carnegie suggests, people will get lethargic and not work as hard, therefore not

The Subconscious Mind
Depression is a mood disorder that is characterized by a sad, blue mood that goes
above and beyond normal sadness and grief (MedicineNet.com). The depressive
disorder consists of negative thoughts, moods, and behaviors as well as physical
changes such as eating, sleeping, and developing aches and pains. 1 in 10 people
will get depression in their lifetime. It is important for people to know that depression
is a serious medical illness that could result in death through suicide. Since blood tests
do not have the ability to diagnose depression at the moment, doctors have to confront
the patient to describe their symptoms that they believe they are developing. Doctors
have to collect their patient s medical history, their substance abuse,... Show more

The subconscious mind acts as a storage device for memories, thoughts, and beliefs,
as well as initiate emotions and thoughts, influences speech, affects people s behavior,
etc. The job of the subconscious mind seems to go on forever. But, with these many
responsibilities, the many causes of mental and physical problems take root in the
subconscious mind. For example, unexpressed and unresolved memories and
emotions that are stored within the subconscious mind can function as negative,
limiting filters and lead to chronic anxiety, phobias, depression, addictions, and low
self esteem (The Fear and Anxiety Solution). When people start to believe that they
are not good enough or that they are not safe and it gets implemented in their
subconscious mind, this will keep them stuck and unable to see their true potential
and purpose and more susceptible to the mental illnesses. But, there is a solution
when it comes to helping the subconscious mind. To be able to change this way of
thinking and further help the person who is suffering from depression or from
another mental disorder, the subconscious mind would be able to Accept new

The Impact of Dean on Sal s Identity in On the Road
On The Road begins with the protagonist, Sal, (representative of author Jack
Kerouac), being overwhelmed by feelings of confusion and uncertainty regarding his
personal identity. He then meets Dean Moriarty , an eccentric character who rejects
societal values and norms . Sal is absorbed with and entranced by Dean, perceiving
him as almost superhuman , and decides to follow him across the country. A passive
character, Sal soon becomes dependent on Dean, mimicking his friend rather than
discovering his personal identity. It is likely that such behaviour was greatly
influenced by events that occurred in Jack Kerouac s childhood . Eventually, Sal
realises that if he is to be independent, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then Sal meets Dean; a wild, roguish character, and is so enchanted by him that he
believes he can shape his own identity through being like Dean. Hence, Sal takes to
the road, planning to follow in Dean s footsteps.
Gradually, Sal becomes more and more dependent on Dean. He shapes his morals
and values upon those of Dean, letting his life be controlled by the decisions that
Dean makes, and even refusing to allow himself thoughts that contradict Dean s.
The impact Dean has on Sal s identity is clearly illustrated in Chapter Seven, when,
after Sal and Dean have been staying with their friend Old Bull Lee , Dean is ready
to leave so Sal takes off with him despite his own desire to stay. He has reached a
point where he is unable to make his own decisions, and must blindly follow Dean.
His dependence on Dean has isolated him from his own feelings and thoughts, and he
has compromised his own independence and power to make decisions.
In Chapter Eight of Part Two, Dean steals gas and oil as Sal runs into the station
and takes bread and cheese while the owners are eating dinner. This act is a direct
contradiction of the values that Sal expressed earlier in the novel, when Montana
Slim asked him to steal from strangers in alley ways, and Sal refused. Such behaviour
is a further illustration of the tremendous impact that Dean has on Sal s identity, and
demonstrates just how malleable Sal s personality at this point is.
Finally, in Chapter Ten of Part
Avoiding a Malthusian Catastrophe
Thomas Malthus once said, The power of population is indefinitely greater than the
power in the earth to produce subsistence for man. Albert Einstein might argue, on the
other hand, Necessity is the mother of all invention, albeit in another context. So,
which is it? Are we doomed to unchecked population growth followed by Malthusian
catastrophe, or can we avoid it through increased food production, decreasing
populationgrowth rates, or some other means?
To say Malthusian catastrophe is inevitable is completely unwarranted. Is it possible?
Certainly it is only logical that if human population reached levels which far
outstripped food supply, the resulting global famine would create easily ignitable
tensions between nations, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This spread in the demographic data available to contemporary researchers show that
as nations become more developed, fertility rates do not increase exponentially as
predicted, nor even linearly, but eventually plateau or potentially even decrease. This
concept, demographic transition, has many contributing factors, many of which are
uncertain. Still, even if these influences are poorly constrained, the overall trend
towards replacement rates of reproduction is well established. The best example of
steady and sustainable population levels is the European Union. The EU is highly
industrially and agriculturally developed, yet has growth rates near zero percent, and
not only a sufficient domestic food supply, but an exportable surplus of grains.
Some detractors may be quick to point out that this is not the case in many
developing countries like India and Sudan, which face shortages of food and
resources that are exacerbated by their rapid growth rate. While true, such criticisms
do not stand up to the wealth of data showing a strongly correlated positive feedback
loop between increasing education and economic gains and falling fertility rates. That
is, once such nations in the second phase of demographic transition receive or
implement educational and economic improvements, the resulting chain reaction can
move them into the third phase of sustainability before the population can outgrow
their resources.

Book Of Acts
Synopsis: Acts Shannon Fouts BIBL 5023 Graduate Survey of the Bible Dr. Grant
Testut August 10, 2015 Introduction The book of Acts is a captivating, theological
narrative of the early church s development from the resurrection of Christ through
the first three decades of the Church as the gospel spread throughout the ancient
Mediterranean world until it reached Rome. Addressed to Theophilus, the same
patron as that of the Gospel of Luke, Acts is believed to have been written as a
sequel to the gospel. The book of Acts serves as a bridge between the life of Christ
presented in the gospels with the life of the early church as revealed through the
remaining New Testament writings. Luke records the very beginnings of the church
under the Apostles leadership, specifically with Peter as the head of the Church in its

Outremer was comprised of four regions dominate regions: The Kingdom of

the issues about American independence. A resolution, namely the Declaration of
Independence, claimed that actions should be taken to make sure that every citizen
of the United States should live in the happiness and safety , was passed by
Congress. Adams, as the writer of the introduction of the Declaration as well as one

his belief that the cause of independence was more important than some phenomena
at that time, he did not protest when Congress cut the denouncement of slavery from

the same date. To insure the calves are born within this time frame the calves will be
collected from cows that have been inseminated from the same bull at the same time
and tested positive for pregnancy. These calves will be castrated with the Short
scrotum method with the use of a rubber ring. This method involves restraining the
calf, preferably in a squeeze chute, and taking a tool to expand the tight rubber
band and placing both testicles through the band. While doing this the band must be
firmly against the naval at the base of the scrotum before releasing the rubber band.
Twenty five of the calves will be castrated at a week old. The other twenty five will
be castrated at the age of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The calves after weening will be started on the same nutrition plan. The calves will
start out on a diet of fifty percent orchard grass hay and fifty percent alfalfa hay at
three percent of the calves body weight per day. The alfalfa will provide the
amount of protein needed that the calves needed in early growth. The orchard
grass will help prevent bloat from an all alfalfa diet and provide essential nutrition
as well. This will last for the next three days. After the first three days grain (12%
sweet feed) will be introduce at two pounds a day along with the same amount of
hay for another three days. After this period every three days another pound of
grain will be added until the calf is eating 6 to 8 pounds of grain per day. This
should amount to a 50/50 mixture of grain and hay. The calves will be weighed
weekly to adjust the amount of hay given to maintain the 3% body weight of hay.
Once the calves have adjusted to a grain diet the ration will be changed at a 10%
increase in grain every 7 days until an 80/20 ratio of grain to hay. Along with this
diet the calves will be given sufficient amounts of fresh
Symbolism In The Skeleton Key
Symbolisms of Danger After watching The Skeleton Key, director Iain Softley,
portrays a young 25 year old female, Caroline Ellis attending nursing school that
takes a job as a caregiver for a stroke victim; living in a secluded, decrypted
mansion, surrounded by a bayou in Terrebonne Parrish known as: New Orleans.
Consequently, while rummaging through the attic of the house, she comes across
some Hoodoo paraphernalia dating back to the 1920 s. Although; notwithstanding,
after talking with Violet Devereaux, the owner, Caroline still not believing, decides
to do some investigating of her own on Hoodoo. Will she believe or will she still hold
true to her on beliefs? Iain Softley did an amazing job with all the specific objects,
effects, sounds,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Color can also determine perception and time; as in The Skeleton Key with the light,
moss and old trees; the colors of light, neutral and earth tones are considered the
good powers. On the other hand when we think of evil, blood or violence we think
of the color red. When someone gets hurts and there s blood, immediately it
triggers a warning signal to another person; danger, somethings happened. When
we see a lot of blood we know it s a dangerous situation and it means possible death.
To some it s Dracula, sacrifice, devil, and fire. Everyone has a right to believe how
they want. In The Skeleton Key we see throughout the movie the color red; how
red lines of red brick dust are placed in various locations. Caroline uses the brick
dust to try to keep Violet, evil out. Surprisingly, flabbergasted by the results,
Caroline realizes the truth about Violet when she will not enter the room. Although
Hoodoo is a religion, it s not real unless you believe it s real; like witchcraft and
voodoo. When Caroline goes in the secret room of the attic, she discovers hair,
blood, bones and hoodoo ritual paraphernalia. Caroline approaches Violet and tells
her what she found and told her she needs to know what happened to Ben when he
was in the attic. Violet

  • 1. Computer Essays Writing an essay on the broad topic of "Computer Essays" can be both challenging and rewarding. The difficulty arises from the vastness of the subject matter and the need to strike a balance between technical details and accessible language for a diverse audience. The world of computers encompasses a wide array of subtopics, including hardware, software, programming languages, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and the societal impact of technology, to name just a few. One of the challenges lies in selecting a specific aspect of computer science or technology to focus on, as attempting to cover the entire spectrum in a single essay would result in a superficial treatment of each area. Once a topic is chosen, the writer must navigate through the complex terminology and concepts, ensuring a coherent and understandable narrative. Additionally, staying up-to-date with the rapidly evolving field of computer science poses a challenge. Technological advancements occur frequently, and new breakthroughs can render certain information outdated quickly. This necessitates continuous research to provide accurate and current information in the essay. Furthermore, striking a balance between technical depth and simplicity is crucial. While it's important to provide accurate information, it's equally essential to communicate complex concepts in a way that is accessible to a general audience. This requires skill in explaining intricate ideas without oversimplifying or alienating the reader. In conclusion, writing an essay on "Computer Essays" demands a careful selection of a specific topic, in-depth research, and the ability to convey complex information in an accessible manner. It's a task that requires a blend of technical knowledge and writing proficiency to create a well- rounded and informative piece. For those seeking assistance with essays or exploring diverse topics, a resource like HelpWriting.net can be a valuable option. • 3. Losing Someone Close Is Not Any Easy Task Losing someone close is not any easy task. I always looked in the mirror and told myself, It will get better, I will make it through this storm. Only to slowly be brought back into reality and try understand that they are never going to come back. You get comfortable with it, after having to do it every day, multiple times. Waking up to call a name that will not be mentioned again because it is too painful to rethink. It seems like every day becomes harder and even more difficult to overcome. I thought that we would live forever, that every person would stay healthy and live forever. I come to realize extremely fast that I was very wrong. I woke up one warm, sunny morning and did my usual morning routine. At age seven, there isn t too much to do besides brush my hair and teeth. I got dressed and ate a small, quick breakfast to accompany my mother to run errands. After going to various different stores, we eventually went to meet my sister s father in order to get a little cash for the babysitter. Finally we go home and sit in the living room to rest after being in the blistering sun. Everyone sitting around the room, talking amongst each other and watching television. There my dear mother sat on the couch, inhaling the terrible toxins of her cigarette. Talking to my grandma, her mother, about the upcoming plans of this week. Her lips began to turn a light shade of blue, my mom sitting there with a dazed look on her face as the color of blue on her lips begin to darken.
  • 4. Populist Party Thesis The Populist Party After the Grant Administration Scandal and the intimidation of Political Machines like Tammany Hall, Americans in the 1890s were fed up with the traditional Republican and Democratic parties. The people were ready for change, and from this dissatisfaction, the Populist Party was born. The Populist Party, also call the People s Party, sought to transform the federal government in favor of public interest. The Populist Party helped to bring about change that Americans wanted, and the efforts of this party are still noticeable in today s government. The Populists wanted the government to be more actively involved in the economy. Prior to this plea for reform, the American federal government played a small role in economy; their job was to stimulate economic growth, not to regulate it. In their 1896 National Platform, the Populists called for higher income tax on the more wealthy citizens. The graduated income tax endorsed by Populists was adopted after the dissipation of the Party and is still used today. Currently, depending on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Populist Party recognized that privately owned railroads proved to be a real problem for farmers who were trying to ship crops across the country at reasonable prices. The new party called for a switch from private to public owned and regulated railroads. In the 1896 Platform, the Populists argued that since the railroads were a means of exchange and public necessity , then the government should operate the railroads in the best interest of the people. They claimed the Robber Barons, like Andrew Carnegie, of the railroad corporations would cause the impairment if not destruction of the political rights and personal liberties of the citizens. Monopolies are now illegal in the United States because they prohibit fairness and competition that the economy needs in order to

My Experience At Starbucks And Drinking Coffee I sit in my kitchen every morning, with one eye open, listening to the sound of the dripping water as it fills the clear decanter with black liquid gold. The smell of hazelnut aroma fills the air and a sigh of relief escapes my breath knowing that it s almost time to taste the delicious coffee that will awaken my senses and help me start the new day. Coffee, also known as Joe, Dirt, Brew, Java, Jitter Juice, and Liquid Energy, has been a staple in my family since I was a small boy. I still remember my father hunched over the kitchen table reading the morning newspaper while drinking a fresh cup of Joe. As an adult I have come to appreciate coffee especially in the morning, relaxing with friends at Starbucks or an after dinner treat.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the traditional vegetarian abstinence of red meat has grown into a group of varied lifestyles, little is known about them. From soy milk to vegan sausage rolls to vegan pizza made with vegan cheese, its all there; and it all tastes, smells and looks just like the original, yet these alternatives are free of cholesterol and any animal products. The most disciplined vegetarian choice is the whole food vegetarian, which is based on the vegan diet, but which takes it to the extreme of abstaining from all highly processed foods: i.e. white bread, white sugar, white rice etc. They rely almost solely on nutrients from whole foods; fruit and vegetables, nuts and seeds, wholemeal and wholegrain foods, soy produce and sometimes gluten based foods, such as vegan burgers. Some vegans tend to lean towards this diet, but usually still use some foods which include processed flours or sugars. Most people don t actually base their entire diet around it due to the high discipline required. Of course these are just a handful of recognized vegetarian diets, there are no strict guidelines for being a vegetarian. The discipline involved in the diet is really up to the person, there are many motivations for vegetarianism, everyone finds their own, and depending on your personal reasons the extent of your diet will be reflected. • 10. Moral Dilemmas In Remember The Titans Good morning Mr Harrop and fellow peers. Today I will be analysing the moral issues and moral dilemmas in non literary texts, so that we can understand and evaluate how test structures, language and visual features can be used to influence an audience response. An exemplar of many moral and ethical dilemmas is shown through popular sport inspiring movie, Remember The Titans (Yakin, 2000) directed by Boaz Yakin. Yakins has a gift for dealing with controversial human issues, by facing the characters with racism, peer pressure and selfishness. One of the few racism dilemma s is shown after Gerry, Alan and Ray are returned to the high school after coach Yoast stops them from joining the city riots. Infuriated with the black people fighting back, Gerry instigates the racism and discrimination, snarling, Hell why don t you just kick em all off the team. I don t wanna play with any of them black animals. This scene was very effective and coincided with the use of close up camera shots to enhance Gerry s emotions, whilst reinforcing Yakin s message that black people were treated poorly and erratically. After Gerry s disastrous car accident, Coach Boone is faced with the moral dilemma of selfishness. Boone has always been a coach who strives to win, not only for himself, but for the team, however after the accident, he lacks empathy for the boys and thinks more about what he wants. When he suggests that the team incorporate more training to cope with the changes so that they can win, Yoast feels that Boone is being selfish and lacking consideration of the team s loss, so confronts him with the questions Is this even about football anymore? Or is it just about you? To express his reaction to being described as selfish, the

Analysis Of Ready Player One By Ernest Cline In Ready Player One, Ernest Cline s style can be described as descriptive due to his use of being able to help yous visualize the world, being able to make you feel the tension, and being able to relate and understand characters. Being able to visualize the world is very important to a novel as you can put yourself into the world and the situations that the characters go through. The stacks explanation (20 Cline). This explanation of the stacks displays how Ernest Cline is able to guide you to create a picture in your mind of how vast and horrible this world is. This description also helps to backup the fact why everyone hides in the oasis instead of living outside in the real world. A story that is able to captivate a reader and make them feel the tension in a stressful situation is incredible and truly add to the emersion and power of a novel. 6ixers blow up the stacks (145 Cline). This part of the novel makes you feel the suspense and terror going on through in Wades head as he is unaware if Sorrento was bluffing or not. Then once the explosions go off he has a look of terror on his face yet he is also kind of relieved that he was able to live and thankful that he was in his hideout. The tension that you feel is very serious and takes your breath away as you along with Wade are waiting for something to happen. Along with tension being able to relate to characters . I wish someone had just told me the truth right up front, as soon as I was old enough to understand. (Cline 16). This sentence at the beginning of the novel shows a lot about Wade s character. Wade doesn t like people sugar coating things for him he wants to always know exactly what is going on just like most of society. Since the story follows Wade on his journey most of the relatability comes from him such as his living situation and how he was spending so much time working on finding the easter egg and finally finding the first gate after years of research. Yet we can tell the personalities of other characters like Aech as a strong, funny and supportive friend. Ernest Cline is very descriptive in the way how he tells the story of Wade Watts and the world of Ready Player One. My first impression of Ready Player One, is exceptional. This

People starts to aware of the potential effect of environmental damage on the ecosystems. Therefore there has been increasing concern over the companies impacts on the environment(Hart 1995). Chatterji et al (2009) mentioned that it becomes significant for the companies to take environmental issues into consideration as there is an increasing interest in how the companies deal with their environmental impact. Also, the public becomes more scrutiny about this matter over time. The original concept of corporate social responsibilities focus only on the social responsibilities, such as employment and consumer rights. As environmental damage has become major concern in the recent years, the concept of corporate social responsibilities has also covered environmental responsibilities, such as water pollution and polluted gas emission, which in turn become one of the important parts of corporate social responsibilities practices (Flammer 2013). Globalisation has constantly developed the concept of corporate social responsibilities in which the method of handling the companies environmental consequences is important for maintaining or improving the corporate image. The Teatro Olimpico was built to be a permanent theatre instead of a temporary one that could be taken down at any moment. The theatre was designed to look like it was outdoors even though it is an indoor theatre. The old fortress was an odd shape compared to other buildings that were standing in Vicenza, but Palladio made it work. His way of designing was based on mathematical proportions and did not focus too much on style aspect of the theatre. The Teatro Olimpico is known for having a, royal arch that is in the middle of the stage. Palladio added columns on the stage. There were five places from where the performers on stage could enter and exit for their scenes. It also had a semicircular seating area so he had to find a way to flatten that area in order to allow space for a stage and a seating area. The Teatro Olimpico was influenced by Roman and Greek architecture. Palladio took everything that he had learned since he was a young child and applied it to his design for the theatre. Since Palladio was seventy two at the time of designing the theatre he had so much experience and was perfect for the job. Construction

There s Pierre s duel with Dolohov in Tolstoy s War and Peace; there s Onegin s duel with Lensky in Pushkin s Eugene Onegin; there s Pechorin s duel with Grushnitsky in Lermontov s A Hero of Our Time, and Bazarov duel with Pavel in Turgenev s Fathers and Sons. In this paper, however, making comparisons between the duels from A Hero of Our Time and Eugene Onegin will be the primary focus. When it comes to deciding if dueling was a noble form of conflict resolution, both writers seem to indirectly portray to the reader that duels are unimpressive and ineffective. Both writers emphasize on the challenges that could happen before, during, and after a Russian duel. If the writers wanted to portray to the readers that duels were honorable, then they would have not displayed the challenges that each character faced while they participated in the duel. A similarity between the two duels of A Hero of Our Time and Eugene Onegin is who ultimately ends up being killed. Both Lermontov and Onegin kill a character that was foolish, and who, perhaps, should not have died. In A Hero of Our Time, Grushnitsky foolishly challenges Pechorin after mistakenly assuming that Pechorin snuck into Princess Mary s residence to see her when she was home alone. It is important to note that while steps to equality have been made through the Equal Pay Act and Title IX, gender discrimination is still prevalent in society. The NCAA reported since 1988, in the 2007 2008 academic year, institutions yielded a net gain of 2, 342 women s teams added to varsity rosters (Pickett, Dawkins, Braddock, 2012). There are now more than 174,000 female collegiate athletes thanks to Title IX (Koller, 2010). Potential Barriers to Employment Unemployment can be especially hard to tackle when a limited number of fields are open to those who are looking for jobs. He shapes his morals and values upon those of Dean, letting his life be controlled by the decisions that Dean makes, and even refusing to allow himself thoughts that contradict Dean s. The impact Dean has on Sal s identity is clearly illustrated in Chapter Seven, when, after Sal and Dean have been staying with their friend Old Bull Lee , Dean is ready to leave so Sal takes off with him despite his own desire to stay. He has reached a point where he is unable to make his own decisions, and must blindly follow Dean. His dependence on Dean has isolated him from his own feelings and thoughts, and he has compromised his own independence and power to make decisions. In Chapter Eight of Part Two, Dean steals gas and oil as Sal runs into the station and takes bread and cheese while the owners are eating dinner. This act is a direct contradiction of the values that Sal expressed earlier in the novel, when Montana Slim asked him to steal from strangers in alley ways, and Sal refused. Such behaviour is a further illustration of the tremendous impact that Dean has on Sal s identity, and demonstrates just how malleable Sal s personality at this point is. Finally, in Chapter Ten of Part
  • 31. Avoiding a Malthusian Catastrophe Thomas Malthus once said, The power of population is indefinitely greater than the power in the earth to produce subsistence for man. Albert Einstein might argue, on the other hand, Necessity is the mother of all invention, albeit in another context. So, which is it? Are we doomed to unchecked population growth followed by Malthusian catastrophe, or can we avoid it through increased food production, decreasing populationgrowth rates, or some other means? To say Malthusian catastrophe is inevitable is completely unwarranted. Is it possible? Certainly it is only logical that if human population reached levels which far outstripped food supply, the resulting global famine would create easily ignitable tensions between nations, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This spread in the demographic data available to contemporary researchers show that as nations become more developed, fertility rates do not increase exponentially as predicted, nor even linearly, but eventually plateau or potentially even decrease. This concept, demographic transition, has many contributing factors, many of which are uncertain. Still, even if these influences are poorly constrained, the overall trend towards replacement rates of reproduction is well established. The best example of steady and sustainable population levels is the European Union. The EU is highly industrially and agriculturally developed, yet has growth rates near zero percent, and not only a sufficient domestic food supply, but an exportable surplus of grains. Some detractors may be quick to point out that this is not the case in many developing countries like India and Sudan, which face shortages of food and resources that are exacerbated by their rapid growth rate. While true, such criticisms do not stand up to the wealth of data showing a strongly correlated positive feedback loop between increasing education and economic gains and falling fertility rates. That is, once such nations in the second phase of demographic transition receive or implement educational and economic improvements, the resulting chain reaction can move them into the third phase of sustainability before the population can outgrow their resources.

  • 33. Comparison Of Mother Tongue And Richard Rodriguez s Public... Language can be a door to a new world for most people. It can help the person get that higher ranking position in the office or stand out to a company during an interview. For others, it may be a door that gets slammed in their face. This could be losing connection with your family or many other scenarios. The text, Amy Tan s MotherTongue is about Amy s life growing up with her perfect English and her mother s broken English . Her mother is a very intelligent woman, but struggles with her English and has a hard time communicating with others. Amy is often used as her mother s translator to help get her point across. The other text, Richard Rodriguez s Public and Private Language is about Richard s life growing up as a Spanish boy with a Spanish familyin America. His teachers and peers cannot understand his Spanish so the Nuns come to his house and tell his parents to practice English for the children so they can strive in their academics. This soon tears Richard s family apart from what use to be a happy, talkative family to a few words and alone. These two texts clearly show that language is a door is Amy Tan s Mother Tongue and Richard Rodriguez s Public and Private Language . On one side, Amy Tan Mother Tongue shows how Amy Opens doors for her mother. One example of this is when Amy says Just last week, I was walking down the street with my mother, and I again found myself conscious of the English I was using, the English I do use with her. We were talking about the price of new and used furniture and I heard myself saying this: Not waste money that way. My husband was with us as well, and he didn t notice any switch in my English. And then I realized why. It s because over the twenty years we ve been together, I ve often used that same kind of English with him, and sometimes he even uses it with me. It has become our language of intimacy, a different sort of English that relates to family talk, the language I grew up with (Tan 363). This opens a door for her mother by being in and understand a conversation that she is not normally involved in. This is as simple as Amy talking to her mom in her mother s language. This is similar to an adult explaining something to a child in the in

Book Of Acts Synopsis: Acts Shannon Fouts BIBL 5023 Graduate Survey of the Bible Dr. Grant Testut August 10, 2015 Introduction The book of Acts is a captivating, theological narrative of the early church s development from the resurrection of Christ through the first three decades of the Church as the gospel spread throughout the ancient Mediterranean world until it reached Rome. Addressed to Theophilus, the same patron as that of the Gospel of Luke, Acts is believed to have been written as a sequel to the gospel. The book of Acts serves as a bridge between the life of Christ presented in the gospels with the life of the early church as revealed through the remaining New Testament writings. Luke records the very beginnings of the church under the Apostles leadership, specifically with Peter as the head of the Church in its earliest stage.
