COMPOUND TOOL
NAME: HEMANT J PATGAR
WHAT IS COMPOUND TOOL
 Campound tool is a type of an press tool that uses a single
stage to perform blanking and percing operation.
 It’s a stand alone die set that’s installed in stamping press.
 Single-stage operation
 A compound tool performs all piercing, shearing,
and forming in a single stroke.
 Inverted design
 The blanking punch is on the bottom side of the tool,
and the piercing punches are on the top side
 Cost-effective
 Compound tooling is more cost-effective than other
fabrication methods, such as machining and die casting
 Suitable for simple parts.
 Compound tooling is ideal for making simple flat
parts, such as washers.
DESIGN OF AN COMPOUND TOOL
MAKING AN COMPUND TOOL
 A process that uses a press tool to manufacture
parts from sheet metal in a single motion.
 This process uses a stand-alone die set that
combines a blanking tool and a piercing tool to
perform all the necessary piercing, shearing, and
forming in one hit
 Consists of a stand-alone die set that is set up in
a stamping press.
TOOL DESIGN
SOME FUTURES OF AN COMPOUND TOOL
 Cost effective
 Compound tooling is more cost effective than other fabrication
methods like machining and die casting
 High production rate
 Compound tooling has a higher production rate than other
methods
 Speed.
 Speed is an important factor in compound tool making, but it
depends on the size of the part. Small parts can exit the die faster
than large ones
 Repeatability
 Compound tooling is helpful for single-die cases
because it ensures high repeatability
 Applications
 Compound tooling is especially useful for stamping
parts like washers, shims, gaskets, seals, and spacers
 Compound Die Stamping
 , compound stamping tooling performs multiple cuts,
punches, and bends in one stroke rather than
multiple strokes
MAINTENANCE OF COMPOUND TOOL
 The maintenance is the important in a copound tool.
 Regular inspection and cleaning of the tool to prevent issues and ensure
it's operating properly.
 A process where a part is manufactured by a press tool in just one
motion by using both a blanking tool and a piercing tool at once.
 Improve Customer Tool Life
 Enhance Quality of Stamping Product
 Improve Up-Time
 Reduce Costs to Our Customer
 Increase Our Supply Side Flexibility
 Increase Our Process Control
