Md. Abul Kalam Azad presented on textile composites to the Department of Textile Engineering. Textile composites combine two or more materials to produce a new material with properties of the original elements. They are strong and stiff yet light weight with good fatigue and toughness properties. Composites do not corrode like steel. A composite has a matrix phase that shares the load and a dispersed reinforcing phase that is stronger than the matrix. Composites offer higher strength, design flexibility, corrosion resistance and durability. They are used in applications like air blades, racing cars, bicycles, automobiles and missiles.
