Presentation on
Textile Composite
What are the textile composite?
Textile composite:
Composite are created by combing two or
more materials to produce a new material
that retains important properties from the
original elements.
Why composite are important:
Composite can be very strong and stiff
Very light in weight
Fatigue properties are good
Toughness is often greater too
Do not corrode like steel
Elements of Composite materials:
Matrix phase:
1. Continuous phase ,
2. Primary phase
3. Its shares the load
Dispersed phase
1. It is stronger than matrix phase so it called
reinforcing phase.
Elements of composite textile:
Interface:
1. Zone across which matrix and reinforcing
phases interact.
Advantage of Composite textile:
Higher specific strength
Design flexibility
 Corrosion resistance
Low relative investment
Durability
Types of Engineering Materials:
Metals
Polymers
Ceramics
composite
End Use:
Air blade
Racing car
Bi-cycles
Honda
Automobiles
Missile
Application of Composite Textile:
Air blade:
Ring fixators:
Racing car:
