2. INTRODUCTION
Generally 6 weeks after delivery is considered as
puerperium period,in this period lot of changes may
occur,like puerperal infections,venous
complications,hemorrhoids in the puerperium etc….
3. Puerperial sepsis
It is also known as postpartum infections, is any
bacterial infection of the female reproductive tract
following childbirth or miscarriage.
The most common infection is that of the uterus and
surrounding tissues known as puerperal
sepsis or postpartum metritis.[
4. amniotic fluid embolism
An amniotic fluid embolism (AFE) is a rare
childbirth (obstetric) emergency in which amniotic
fluid, fetal cells, hair, or other debris enters the
mother's blood stream via the placental bed of the
uterus and triggers an allergic-like reaction. This
reaction then results in cardiorespiratory (heart and
lung) collapse and massive bleeding (coagulopathy).
5. Septic embolism
A septic embolism is a type of embolism that is
infected with bacteria, resulting in the formation
of pus. These may become dangerous if dislodged
from their original location. Like other emboli, a
septic embolism may be fatal.
6. Complications of anesthesia during the puerperium
like pulmonary complications,cardiac complications
etc…
In such cases use additional code to identify specific
complications
7. Infections of breast associated with pregnancy, the
puerperium and lactation
Examples:-infections of nipples
In such cases use additional code to identify
infection
8. AGALACTIA
Lactation failure or deficiency, also known
as agalactia or agalactorrhea, as well
as hypogalactia or hypogalactorrhea, is a medical
condition in which lactation is insufficient or fails
completely due to an inadequacy of breast
milk production and/or a failure of the milk let-down
reflex in response to suckling following childbirth,
resulting in an inability to properly breastfeed.
