Effect of Schemas on Drawing a Clock Essay
Title An investigation of the effects of schemas on drawing a clock. Introduction A schema
according to Henry Gleitman (2007) is a mental representation that summarises what we know
about a certain event or situation. Schemas reflect the fact that many aspects of our experience are
redundant and schemas seek to provide a summary of this redundancy. When an individual
encounters an event or situation, they seek to understand it by relating it to a schema. Schemas are
useful not only in providing meaning in an experience, but also filling in the gaps resulting from a
failure to notice all the details of an event or situation. However, reliance on schematic knowledge
can lead to memory error, hence causing an individual to remember the... Show more content on

Pasadena Museum Of California Art Analysis
The Pasadena Museum of California Art has a beautiful exterior with an open air staircase with
moody light play from an oculus above its entrance to a three story facility. The walls all around it
are covered in complicated patterns and symbols. The building definitely stands out against all the
other buildings in the area. The inside is very roomy, and filled with lots of artwork all around.
The first piece of artwork is by William S. Rice. This piece is a painting, with many, many different
colors. There is a parrot sitting atop a branch, and it seems to be looking down at a butterfly
resting on a branch below it. I picked this piece because of the many vibrant colors it had. There
was a parrot on a branch, and it seemed to be staring down ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It portrayed two different animals, in what seemed like a friendly situation, basically hanging out
with each other. The artist s view of the world with these piece of art work might be that he wants
world peace and everything to get along with each other just how the parrot and the butterfly are.
The artist wants world peace basically, but us Christians should know that that is impossible, only
in heaven. So this painting may just show what the artist wishes the world could be like.
The second piece of art is called: Wounds of Existence. This seems to be a painting on a
unusually rugged surface made out of un sanded wooden planks. It depicts what seems like, a
man and a women with their faces close to each other with sad faces. The subject matter of this
piece seem to be mellow and sad. I picked this piece because it jumped out at me at how absolutely
unique it was, being painted on wooden planks.
All the colors in this piece are more dark, and no color really stand out above the rest. Even
though the surface of this painting was very un even, I could still see the shapes, colors and
patterns. For the canvas of the painting, it doesn t look like something you d paint on. It appears
that he just nailed a bunch of wooden planks on top of each other and next to each other and
painted on them. Parts of this piece were probably painted with a brush, and maybe spray paint as

Mart Financial Initiative Wal Mart, a fortune 500 company, has thousands of stores in many
countries around the world. Michael T. Duke, President and Chief Executive Officer of Wal Mart
Stores, Inc. expresses one financial priority of Wal Mart as growth. Growth: We will continue to
grow around the world. We have many opportunities to grow by opening new stores, entering new
markets, making acquisitions, integrating online channels, and developing new, innovative formats
to allow people to experience the Walmart brands (Wal Mart, 2010). Herein, Wal Mart s growth

As demonstrated in Portland, Oregon, not every community desires a Wal Mart. In his CEO s
letter to the shareholders, Michael Duke referred to opportunities in metropolitan markets as a
major contributor to growth potential (Wal Mart, 2010). However, sales growth has declined
steadily since 2007. Wal Mart s 2010 annual report showed a 1% increase in sales growth over
the prior year. With the steady decline in sales growth, Wal Mart s initiative to continue growing
looks bleak; especially in hard economic times. Proof of the decline is seen in Wal Mart s 2011
first quarterly statement which posted a decline in same store sales in the United States of 1.4%
(Stock Blog Hub, 2010, para. 3). New growth is the key to the success of Wal Mart s growth
initiative. Without new markets, and with a steady decline in sales of existing stores, Wal Mart
s faces an inevitable decline leading to a failed growth initiative. Financial Outcome: Increase in
Sales Another potential outcome of the company s growth is initiative is that the sales will
increase. For the last five years Wal Mart has experienced a year over year growth in its net sales.
Sales increased 9%, 11%, 8%, 7% and 1% in the years 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010
respectively (Wal Mart, 2010). The company previously credited lower grocery prices during peak
shopping times like the Fourth of July holiday for the sales increase. Management increased

Hanif Kureishi s My Son the Fanatic and Amy Tan s Two...
In a world which is only now beginning to emerge from the shackles of colonialism, both former
empires and the nations once subdued by their hegemony have entered a transitional period defined
by uncertainty and the loss of collective identity. Compounding matters is the delicate balance that
expatriates from former colonies turned independent countries, such as Pakistan, India, and Hong
Kong, must seek to achieve while residing in the former motherland of Great Britain. For the most
ambitious and hopeful immigrants, the arduous process of assimilation from pre colonial society to
the very seat of imperial power which once exercised dominion over your homeland from afar can
be a jarring metamorphosis. Two exquisitely written short stories published during the tumultuous
postcolonial period of the late 1980s and early 1990 s, Hanif Kureishi s My Son the Fanatic and
Amy Tan s Two Kinds, harness the provocative power of prose to explore the quintessentially
modern cultural theme of dual and transitional identity. By juxtaposing the paternal expectation of
father Parvez with the harsh reality his militarized, extremist son Ali, Kureishi exposes the
fallacious notion of the British dream offered to immigrants from former colonies around the world.
Through her wrenching tale of the divisions sewn between Chinese mothers, who lived through the
Communist Cultural Revolution, and their Americanized daughters struggling to bear the burden
of competing customs, Tan examines the

Shame In The Puritan Era
Statistics show that public humiliation is one of the most common fears. As many admit to this
fear, many also grasp to this concept and shame one another for absurd conditions. In the Puritan
Era, many methods were used to publicly shame someone for their wrong doing. One of their
common methods was to openly tell their sin to the whole community. One of their extreme
approaches was hanging someone. This showed the public to follow the regulations of the town and
do not do anything against them. Fast forward to modern times, the scheme of humiliating one
another changed drastically. For instance, many occurrences pertain from social media. In 1994,
the first site of social media was created. From this point on, millions of different sites... Show more

In today s society, the influence of social media, politics, and the blame of women, ignite a new
way of publicly humiliating others. Initially, social media created a way to communicate with
others and receive updates through one s life. As the power of this concept grew, and the more
advanced technology created, people started to bully over the internet; called cyberbullying. Many
incidents of cyberbullying occur, which grew into the primary way of bullying. Politics represent
America, and essentially define the country. As a whole, eliminating public shame pertains to one
of the goals of this country, but if representatives start to persuade the society, fundamentally,
everyone will accept the thought of public humiliation. Lastly, the stereotypical perception of
women is known as blaming another for one s actions or their appearance. As this stands in people
s minds, many are blind to the fact that women actually receive shame for their bodies, self, and
jobs more than men. The law now participates in the action of stopping the shame, but also
intervenes with the supervision of prostitution, sex trafficking, and any illegal operations women
participate in. With the influences of social media, politics, and the two sides of women in public
shaming, this concept brings forth attention to the society itself. It calls for help in the world, to
stop this humiliation and shaming of others

General Strain Theory
In 2016 alone, there were over 200,000 arrests made involving white collar crimes (UCR, 2016).
Although white collar crime makes up less than 1% of all arrests made, it can cost its victims
upwards of trillions of dollars in fiscal damages each year (ACFE, 2014). Despite its detrimental
cost to its victims, very few theories are capable of explaining why white collar crimetakes place.
General strain theory is one of the few theories capable of explaining the phenomenon of white
collar crime, naming the presence of negative stimuli and goal blockage, among other factors, as
central causes of criminality, despite the background or demographic of the offender. In The Wolf

Rothschild for six months, Jordan received a promotion to a position as a stockbroker, and was
promptly laid off the same day due to the Black Monday crash. This situation in particular,
placed an enormous amount of strain on Jordan as a positive stimulus was removed, via the loss
of his job, and a negative stimulus was added, via pressure to provide for himself and his wife.
These were added to the strain already being placed on Jordan through the disjuncture of his
expectations and reality. In addition to the clustering of these negative events, losing a job was of
high magnitude to Jordan as he viewed his position as a stockbroker as essential to the removal
of another strain in his life, the gap between his desired wealth and his actual lower middle class
lifestyle. Although Jordan was able to obtain a job as a stockbroker in a relatively short time, the
effect of his recent unemployment impacted his decision to use illegal selling tactics when he
returned to work. The combination of these factors led to feelings of disappointment, frustration
and fear within Jordan, ultimately leading him to the use of illegal pump and dump selling
techniques, in which a stockbroker provides a client with false insider information in order to
intentionally drive up the value of an often, worthless stock, and convince the client to invest

Online Education Essay
Online Education
Education is an important part of people s lives; it will either make them or break them in the
future depending on the careers they choose. Education is greatly diverse today in comparison to
the 1950s because of advancements in teaching and other great inventions that provide easier
techniques of teaching. One major issue that has been raised is distant learning courses and online
education. Distant learning could be any format from VHS videos, DVDs, or internet courses
online. Online education has been legal since 1993 and is a new way of teaching students of all ages.
Online education has been gaining popularity through out the years because of the ease of the
internet. The internet has made it easier for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Discussion on issues is done in chat rooms and forums where everybody writes their views on the
issue. This is an advantage for foreigners who can not speak proper English correctly. Live video
and sound can also be done with special equipment for a real time conversation with instructors and
peers.
Other features on the online courses are the learning aides that can be used while taking the course.
Certain programs can be made such as flash cards and games which can increase the learning
experience of the student. These learning aides can be done on the student s time and does not
require the teacher to be there.
Time for a face to face class is very difficult if a person works 40 hours a week but an online course
can put an ease on the time restriction because the person does the work at their own pace and
time. It is also easier to sign up for an online class than a class at a college. Message boards are in
use if the students need to leave a question or a comment about the subject their on. They also save
time by not traveling to the college and trying to find a parking space.
Rural areas where students have to travel a great distance to get to class can save time and money
by doing online classes. For example, a child of a farmer can help the family out in the morning
with the farming chores then go to an online class later on. Rural kids may also take additional
educational classes online that their school does not

Exploring the Theme of Love in Sonnets 57 and 58 Essay
Shakespeare s sonnets are numbered in a sequential order and adjacent sonnets often have similar
content. Throughout Shakespeare s sonnets, he covers many subjects, such as interest in the life of
a young man, his love for a young man, and his love for a dark haired woman. In sonnets 57 and
58, Shakespeare discusseshow love is like slavery in its different manifestations. The object of the
narrator s love has a dominating power over the narrator, which controls him and guideshis actions.
Shakespeare shows in sonnets 57 and 58 that love can be displayed by using many different routes
such as viewing love as a controlling force, exploring the theme of time and waiting in regards to
love, and the question of the physical state of being of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In sonnet 57, line five, the narrator says I don t dare , thereby again showing his reluctance to
resist the efforts of the lover to control him and dominate him. In sonnet 58, line 9, the narrator
says that the control over him by the lover is very strong, however he doesn t seem to make any
effort to resist these temptations and exertions of power, but rather resigns to them and accepts
them as part of his life. The use of the word tame to describe himself in sonnet 58, line seven,
suggests that the narrator doesn t want to actively resist the domination by the lover but instead is
resigning his will to the lover. As the narrator lets himself be enveloped in his love for the young
man, he loses a part of his own willpower.
Time is also addressed in both of these sonnets. Both sonnets have images of the narrator
waiting. In sonnet 58, line four has the narrator awaiting the leisurely needs of the lover, and
again in line 13 I am to wait signifies the author waiting for the lover. In sonnet 57, line one the
narrator says what else can I do but wait. In line six, the narrator refers to watching the clock or
waiting, and also in line eleven he says stay which means wait. The purpose of waiting in these
sonnets is to show that the narrator is subservient to the lover and

The parliamentary system is a system of democratic governance wherein the executive and
legislative branches of the government are intertwined and are lead collectively by a Prime
Minister who must have been proven to be competent and capable, as chosen among his party
members. However, the Philippines is currently under the presidential system, also a system of
democratic but republican governance, which is led this time by a president, and wherein there is a
separation of powersbetween the executive and the legislative. In the presidential system, people
have the collective power to vote for the president. On one hand, the similarities between the two
systems can be summed up in one word: democracy. This entails the basic standards of... Show

Another is that Filipinos have a culture of apathy and tend to use religion incorrectly and
passively. People depend on religion and settle for what s okay. In addition, the initial reaction of
Filipinos to change is resistance, and this is why the country does not necessarily progress, or at
least, progress at a continuous rate. Then, countries like Spain and Portugal only rode the economic
tiger after they realized that the only way to survive was change (3.Y). Plus, according to another
critic, the Philippines already had the experience of being under the parliamentary system during the
time of Marcos which only resulted in a People Power Revolution. So why should the country
bother going back to that? (4.Y) However, it was Marcos who envisioned a New Society or a
Bagong Lipunan that urged the poor and privileged to work as one for the country s economic
goals through self realization. (5.Y) Which, as previously stated, are work and/or study ethics of

1972 with an average annual growth rate of 6.6%. It was also during this time

constant state of rhetoric. But why do we own what we have? What we own really does make a
statement for who we are. Who we are is shaped by the world around us, and no matter where we

The Effects Of Sugar Intake On Individuals
Introduction In the United States there are numerous Americans that suffer from Type 2 Diabetes,
too much sugar intake, and being overweight. Additionally, there are numerous debates as to which
sweetener, honey, fructose, or high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is consequentially better for
people. Many argue that each have different metabolic effects on individuals, while other experts
claim all three have basically the same effects. While this topic is quite controversially and a fairly
new concept, most experts and researchers tend to agree that reducing any type of sugarintake can
decrease excessive body weight and the chance of suffering from diabetes, obesity, and an array of
other health complications. The Institute of Medicine suggests no more than 25% of daily energy
should be consumed as sugars. (Raatz, Johnson, and Picklo, 2015). However, the American Heart
Association has different scales based on gender and calorie intake. There are other suggestions as
well, which in turn leads to confusion for the average consumer.
Hypothesis
The authors, Raatz, Johnson and Picklo, based out of the University of Minnesota, performed an
experiment to test three popular nutrient sugars on glucose tolerant and intolerant individuals:
honey, sucrose, and HFCS. HFCS is said to be the worse sweetener for health on the market
followed by sucrose. On the other hand honey is thought to be the natural sweetener based on its
supposed ability to provide the body with

Parity Between Men and Women in France
Parity between Men and Women in France
Nowadays, French society observes various inequalities. They can sometimes appear legitimate,
especially in the economic and social areas, because they would only result from the individuals
aptitudes and efforts; that would start with the same equal opportunities. However, women are
becoming more and more recognized by the French population, which in turn, gives them increasing
respect and responsibilities. However, we can still wonder if women, since they are the main
subject, play the same roles in French society as men. Are these inequalities the result of an intense
research of efficiency, and thus necessary? In other words, is parity just an ideal that does not
guarantee an optimal management ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is also an evolution towards more parity in fields not really feminized (such as engineer
schools, preparatory classes to higher education institutions with competitive entrance
examination), and a more important feminization of the fields already associated with females such
as literature, art, etc (Ministry of National Education, Youth, and Community Life). Unfortunately,
the parity observed in education is not applied in the job market. An equal professional insertion is
still difficult for young women, and in opposition to their higher success at school.
We can notice that the employment rate is more important among women than among men in France
, with 8 million unemployed women in 2008. They also have a lower activity rate: 65.5% versus
74.6% for men in 2008. Moreover, one third of them have a part time job, which leads to a higher
poverty rate: 7.4% versus 6.9% (INSEE). As a consequence, women live in more precarious life
styles and are sources of various social and economic issues. Thus, there is no economic
independence for women and therefore no equality for them. Finally, even though women are very
active, the activity rate considerably decreases along with the number of dependent children.
Women are consequently more qualified than men, but

Romanticism During The Romantic Period
The Romantic Period
Romanticism (1820 1900) in music was brought to the world during the early nineteenth century.
This music stressed emotion, imagination, and individualism. The Romantic period was about
freedom of expression and breaking away from time honored conventions.
This period in time had influenced many, or even all of the arts. Painters used bolder and more
brilliant colors in their works. Also, they had preferred dynamic motion to gracefully balanced
poses. Poetry was also changed during the Romantic Period. Emotional subjectivity was a basic
quality in every type of art during this time. Many artists had become romantics and had become
drawn to the realm of fantasy: the unconscious, the irrational, and the world of dreams. Romantics
were fascinated with the Middle Ages, the time of chivalry and romance. What neoclassicists had
thought of to be the dark ages , the romantics had cherished.

None of these were entirely to replace the Romantic impulse. Hard bitten naturalism in fiction and
film coexists today with sweeping romanticism; there are large audiences for both. The
contemporary vogue for Victorian designs is just one of many examples of the frequent revivals of
Romantic tastes and styles that have recurred throughout the twentieth century.
Looking back over the list of characteristics discussed above one can readily see that despite the fact
that Romanticism was not nearly as coherent a movement as the Enlightenment, and lacked the sort
of programmatic aims the latter professed, it was even more successful in changing history
changing the definition of what it means to be human.
Romanticism
The romantic period emphasised the self, creativity, imagination and the value of art. This is in
contrast to the Enlightenment emphasis on Rationalism and

What constitutes a hero, and likewise, what characteristics describe a villain? Alan Moore and Dave

America faces potential Armageddon due to an impending nuclear war. The work introduces two
potential paladins, depending on one s moral values, Rorschach and Ozymandias, placing the motifs
of categorical imperativism and utilitarianism at odds with one another. Rorschach, a categorical

Arthritis Experiments
Background/Introduction:
Arthritis patients has inflammation in their joints where chronic pain is a common symptom.
Although the mechanism linking pain with arthritis is unknown, it is suggested that the extension
of autonomic sympathetic fibers into the upper dermal layer of the skin may explain the sensation

There was an significant increase of innervations of synovial membrane of joints with CFA

each other. Sympathetic fibers were found in close proximity with the peptidergic fibers in the
upper dermis of the paws with induced arthritis, and these fibers were present at levels 3 times the

when comparing the tissues of both the control and CFA treated rat s paws, there was a change in

Emotional Intelligence Thesis
Thesis Statement: Emotional Intelligence is what makes a leader.
Emotional intelligence is a term I had never heard of before I took my first leadership class. Now
that I know what emotional intelligence is and I understand how to use it I hope to apply it to
benefit myself and my organizations. I recognize what a huge disadvantage those that do not
understand emotional intelligence are faced with. Emotional Intelligence has become a vital part
of how today s leaders meet the many various challenges they face on a day to day basis.
Emotional Intelligence can help leaders lead their group or organization through the good and the
bad times, something that fewer and fewer people seem capable of accomplishing. Lack of

I know a person who personally struggle with emotional intelligence specifically his ability to
read people s reactions and see their perspectives. Managers subordinates were terrified of
working with him. People even went so far as to hide bad news from him. Naturally, he was
shocked when finally confronted with these facts. He shared his experience with his peers
outside of work and they agreed with what his employees told him. When their opinions on any
given subject did not mesh with his, they, too, were worried about what his reaction would be.
With the help of an emotionally strong co worker, my friend began to improve his empathy
through practice and feedback. His first step was to step out of his comfort zone, so he went to the
low income side of town. While there, he monitored his reactions to things he wasn t use to and his
openness to people who were different from him. At the same time, he made an effort to use on the
job interactions as opportunities to practice hearing ideas that differed from his. His emotional
intelligence wasn t immediately imporved, but with hard work and time the executive s emotional
intelligence did ultimately rise, and the improvement was reflected in his overall performance and

March Of Penguins
In March of the Penguins, the author explains in a subjective point of view that it s not the fault of
another animal for needing to feed by eating the penguins. For the Penguins, they survive many
harsh winters and attacks from animals such as the Sea Lion, because of this show of strength in
one of the world s harshest of environments, the Author admires these Penguins and how they live.
Ways they show their loyalty to their home and ways they survive this hellish place are simple, yet
extremely hazardous tasks. To get back to their mating area, the first group of penguins, the males,
must travel an extremely long distance to make it back to their home and meet up with the female
penguins that have been waiting for a very long time. Though the females are starving, they

During the nighttime storms, they huddle closely together to keep warm and switch from inside to
outside so each penguin gets to feel warmth that is at the center. After all of these storms, the
females are on the return from the water. Some eggs may have been lost in the storm so the
mothers of those chicks will not have a child to feed. For those who have survived, their child is
awaiting food from the mother. After feeding the child, they pass it back to the mother as the
father is in need of food. Before departing, the Father and Child sing to each other to remember
who is who after the father returns from feeding. As time passes, these chicks slowly grow older
and get much larger, eventually losing their baby feathers. During most of their growing up stage,
they are left alone as they are old enough to look out for themselves and that of their fellow
penguins. After they are old enough, they walk out to the waters edge that is now much closer as it
is now summer time again. They jump in and resume the process that has been repeated throughout

Influences of Fear in What s Eating Away At Gilbert Grape...
Fear influences the way humans react and the actions that transpire. Some embrace the feeling of
fear; others try to overcome obstacles that fear creates. Sometimes, fear stimulates a strong response
of self isolation to shield one s mind from accepting emotion. This response, however, can manifest
into an extreme nature, creating the personality that Gilbert Grape exhibits. Peter Hedgesclearly
communicates the fact that Gilbert underwent a transformation and his personality reflects the
change. The transformation not only causes Gilbert to become conflicted with expressing his
feelings, but he fears the guilt of doing so as well. Gilbert struggles with his familycontrolling his
opinions, emotions and actions. Peter Hedges illustrates the crippling nature of fearin What s Eating
Gilbert Grape. Gilbert becomes emotionally isolated due to his fear of judgment. The
relationship between Gilbert and his family strained by the fear to act and the reality of his life
creates the alienated personality readers see. Throughout What s Eating Gilbert Grape, examples
of his fear of judgment crippling him begin to surface. Gilbert says, Something is not right about
all this food going to my house. Something is wrong inside me, I start to think, but I change the
subject (112). Gilbert desperately wants to express on how food negatively affects his whole

The Role Of Mercy Killing In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
When a person, puts another person out of their misery to save them is called mercy killing.
George Milton and Lennie Small are migrant workers that travel together throughout Of Mice

Lennie at peace. Mercy killing is a way of ending people s lives in a peaceful way and George is
a great example of that. George has the right to take Lennie s life. Mercy killing helps people out
of their misery and from becoming hurt. In the book, Of Mice and Men, when Lennie breaks a
lady s neck and kills her and her husband exclaims, I m gonna shoot the guts outta that big
bastard! (Steinbeck 98). All the men at the ranch are angry at Lennie and craving for revenge.

That is true, however, seeing people struggle and suffer is grievous to do, as for the man in the
article about killing his wife and sister. When asked about his client, Lance Anderson s defense
attorney, described his client as a man who was simply overcome with the circumstances of
caring for his ailing wife and sister (Serna). People do not like seeing other people suffer and that
is what the article responded with and feels. If people liked to observe people suffer, wouldn t
there be more murders? Killing people to save them is the main form of mercy killing and is
used for an acceptable reason. In conclusion, people who like to watch people suffer are animals
and cruel, compared to people who grieve when witnessing people agonize over their own pain.

act of cruelty against people who never fully affirm they want to be killed. But, watching someone

The first time we see the cognitive perspective is when Temple Grandin she sees the man dressed
like a cowboy. The cognitive theory helps explain mental processes such as processing
information, learning, or thinking. Temple Grandin saw the way the man dressed the belt, cowboy
boots, cowboy hat, and the shirt. She processed the information and with it and previous
information she knew from pictures, shows, magazines, and other medias she assumed he was a

unconventional way of processing information. She sees in pictures and relate it to other things she

The Hurt Locker By Film Maker Kathryn Bigelow
The Hurt Locker
The Hurt Locker by film maker Kathryn Bigelow conveys the theme of the movie at the very
beginning. The theme is a simple quote by Chris Hedges which states, The rush of battle is often a
potent and lethal addiction, for war is a drug. (Hedges) The film s greatest achievement is its ability
to communicate the underlying truth of this quote consistently throughout the movie. Sergeant First
Class William James, played by James Renner, captures this message through his job description,
dialogue, and demeanor, which is presented his obstinate/erratic behaviors. The creative selective
style of slow motion effects, instability of camera movement, and the intense sound/visual effects
clearly evokes the chaos and confusion associated with any drug/addiction. The location, scenery
and lighting contribute to the feel of realism. Furthermore, to truly grasp the meaning of this quote
by Chris Hedges it would be imperative to have some knowledge /understanding of the mental
struggle as well as the consequences associated with war. The insightful dirty truth/reality that war
is a drug and the rush of battle is the addiction is communicate is throughout the movie. (Dashiell)
Kathryn Bigelow distinct ability to introduce the audience two types of terrorists is remarkable.
A terrorist which is easily recognizable and another terrorists, that is, hidden deep within the mind
of any soldier who has experienced this lethal drug/potent addiction called war.

These patterns were based off on different aspects people need to succeed in life. With these

affected Horney believed someone could contain all ten patterns, but if they didn t it was still
possible. Through three different categories of Detachment, Compliance, and Aggression, Horney
condensed the ten different patterns of neurosis. Detachment is a person moving away from a
possible solution, or letting go of a personality. Compliance is seen as someone yielding from
connecting with others, or someone who is trying to not gain so much attention. In Horney s idea
children who tend to face difficulties communicating, or having a relationship with their parents

children who fall into this neurotic category tend to be angrier and become unfriendly to those

just want to become more independent at times. This spark she had lead to rethink her theories,
and years later into her work were considered. After writing, Neurosis and Human Growth; The

single mothers living in a tough economic situation made poor choices about planning for

more likely to be living with economic insecurity than single fathers, it can t all be due to low

Disaster Of A Subduction Zone
1. Introduction On Friday March 11th, 2011 at 2:46 pm, the fifth largest earthquake recorded since
1900 with a magnitude of 9.0, 1.7 Richter scale points greater than the devastating Vancouver Island
earthquake of 1946, struck the coast of Japan, 231 miles northeast of Tokyo1, causing a devastating
regional and global catastrophe.
1.1 Megathrust Earthquakes Megathrust earthquakes are defined as interplate earthquakes caused
by one tectonic plate being forced under another in a subduction zone. During the lifetime of a
subduction zone, two plates are constantly moving towards each other, and due to the great amount
of friction, these plates get stuck in various areas 2 (fig 1). Due to the build up of stress in these
areas, the plates eventually unlock and release a great amount of energy, resulting in a megathrust

the ocean floor they are almost always accompanied by massive ocean waves, sometimes reaching
heights of over 100 ft and reaching speeds of 500 mph, known as seismic sea waves or more
commonly known as Tsunamis4. Alongside the catastrophic events that megathrust earthquakes

US is having PPP is 52117.76 US$ which is major gap and this shows though china is having

c. Conducting Research
This is perhaps the most important step in the research paper writing process. Your research not
only provides you ethos as a writer by revealing your knowledge and understanding of the topic,
but also will very likely shape both your understanding and interpretation of the topic. Listed
below are several important tips for conducting research and notetaking: * In order to avoid later
confusion, begin each section by recording the author s name, book or article title, and page
numbers (if relevant). * As you examine each source, record important or unique notions which
you may wish to incorporate within your paper. Make certain to outline the general arguments
of each source by including a descriptive heading after the citation. This will aid you in more
quickly and easily distinguishing between sources in the future. Additionally, it may be useful to
group sources into categories based on more refined topics. * In order to diminish the risk of
plagiarizing, do NOT directly lift phrasing or entire segments of the text from sources without
properly indicating that you have done so. If you find it necessary to directly quote an author,
clearly indicate what has been copied from the author and record the page number on which this
information can be found. * Remain critical of your sources: Do not assume that an idea or
criticism is valid, because it appears in the argument of a single critic or even multiple

bees when exposed to such stressors, since disturbances in this environment can negatively affect
bee health. Beesymbionts can help bees by both processing harmful compounds and by producing
secondary metabolites to avoid infection. Understanding the impact of secondary metabolites on
the bee gut symbionts is the main focus of this research proposal. First, nectar toxins and
pesticides residues can either affect bee symbionts or be metabolized by them. Studies in vitro and
in vivo will be performed to evaluate how the bee bacterial community is affected

Whose Revelation? What is the Revelation? What do the girls learn?
Book two is entitled The Revelation and the girls sections is entitled The Things We Learned. The
Revelation was intended to mainly the Price family, excluding the father. The theme revelation has
another definition: apocalypse. In the bible, the apocalypse leads to destruction and demise right
before when God makes it a better place. In connection to the book, at this time the new prime
minister, Patrice Lumumba was elected. This election set the stage for the independence movement
in the Congo. In addition, Methuselah (the parrot) passes away as soon as he is freed, after being
banned from liberation for most of his life. This foretells the destiny of Congo and the delicate
independence they acquired. The Book of Revelation explains about how God s creation
encountered savagery and anguish so that it will become altered. The Belgian doctor who treats
Ruth May for her broken arm has a little conflict with the Reverend. He prophesies that Congo will
experience savagery and anguish if it changes to a self determining state from a colony. In the
Revelation section of the story, all the members of the Price family come to face a new sense of
comprehension about the Congo s culture, plants, animals and tradition. Throughout the book, the
characters go through many hardships and success which permits them to learn

Week 5 Reflection Essays
Week Five Reflection ACC/421 Week Five Reflection The concept of time value of money is
accounting is the relationship between time and money (Kieso, Wygandt, amp; Warfield, 2007).
The common expression is that money today is worth more than the assurance of money received
tomorrow. The reason for this saying is the investment opportunities and borrowing options.
Understanding how to compare present and future values of moneyand learning how to use the
different timevalues of money is important in accounting and the different users of accounting.
Importance of Time Values of Money There is a big importance when it concerns the time values of
money because the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A company can use the present value concept to determine the value of a property today that is
expected to earn the minimum of the projected future cash flow or the amount of money that needs
to be invested today to reach a desired future sum. Investors who are interested in acquiring
businesses would use the present value of money concept. Probably the main example of how the
present value of money is applied in accounting is: a company wants to accumulate $100,000 in five
years and they know there is an 8% interest that is compounded annually. A company would take
that information and the present value of money concept to determine the amount of money they
need to invest today. Applications of Future Values of Money Computing the future valueof money
allows accountants to calculate compound interest. The future value of money is used to determine
the rate of return at a specific time at a particular interest rate. Companies use it to make financial
decisions involving money held for deposit, comparing interest applied to loans or receivables, or
investments. Accountants can calculate future values using a single sum today or with periodic
payment. Examples of periodic payments include rents or any payment that requires constant
payments generally of the same amount. Accountants can also use future value to determine the
amount of money, interest, and periodic payments required

Native Americans And Native American Cultures
The initial clash between the European and Native American cultures is the start of our Mixed
American history. Like many other colonization stories, concepts such as culture, religion, trade,
and colonialism are tossed in a mix between virtues such as trust, acceptance, and fairness. Often
times neglecting the latter of the mixture. The oddity of such unions is that the native people are
generally tolerant with the foreigners... until the foreigner grows into the oppressor. Such is the
case between the Native Americans and the European colonizers. Despite early collaboration,
Native American tribes responded with great despise and animosity towards the expanse of
European colonization. The initial contact between Native Americans and Europeans was rather
easygoing. Both cultures didn t quite seem to understand each other and their ways. Nonetheless,
both parties found methods to be partially reliant (for the Native Americans lesser than the former)
on the other in ways that helped settle the original inept feelings. An example of such alliance was
the start of Chesapeake colony, Virginia. Early settlements were dismantled by the inadequate
environment and lack of food only until the collaboration with the Powhatan tribe were they able to
then barely survive. With the exchange of survival, the Native Americans were given goods such
as metal tools, objects and other modern goods that helped ease day to day Indian lifestyle. Another
example of positive collaboration in the

The events portrayed correspond with real world situations like gay marriages, divorce, drugs
and drug abuse, work conflict, dynamics of relationships at work, management of medical
conditions like pain and life long states, and others. Unlike conventional shows that handle
hypothetical situations that probably may never take place centered on medical jargon that
audiences do not efficiently recognize unless their personal preferences converge on the
medical genre, HOUSE MD revolves around situations that the world readily identifies. Dr.
Gregory captures the stage as a hero with his unique insight into mundane affairs of the world.
Dr. Gregory is a brilliant crippled doctor because ordinary doctors in the film cannot provide
proper diagnosis for medical conditions. This sad state of events motivates Dr. House to pursue
personal development as the means of becoming the best diagnostician. In the film, Lisa Cuddy
forces House to attend to his clinic hours that he had avoided for a number of years. The medical
drama comedy covers sensitive matters like wrong diagnosis and medical bureaucracy to provide
impetus for the show. Because Dr. House ignored serving his clinic hours, the writers of the film
find strong foundations during one of his walks. Each episode illustrates a new mysterious case
that ensures a patient s life is on the line as time takes its

Jorge Luis Borges Irony
The writing styles of Edgar Allen Poe and Jorge Luis Borges are very in sync when it comes to
literary devices such as irony, imagery, setting and so on. In many of their stories, the authors
demonstrate their extraordinary technique through the short story The Purloined Letter written by
Poe and The Garden of Forking Paths written by Borges. Piquing the readers mind and causing a
sensation of awe at the end their story, they entice the reader to experience a whole new world of
literature, forcing the reader to scrutinize the text in a manner, in which a pedestrian reader would

Borges keeps the suspense until the very end, in which pace of the story is slow, leaving the
readers to at the edge of their seats. Everything that the reader had questioned was answered,
whereas Poe s end still left the reader with unanswered questions. What does the letter say? Who

Peace Conference Essay
During the peace conference simulation, my character was Tamir and I am on the Israeli side.
My character s beliefs are that I am willing to compromise on the West Bank, the Refugees being
allowed to return Israel as a compromise, and the city Jerusalem. Also, my other character s belief
is that there is no compromise on security in Israel. Those are the beliefs of my character as Tamir
in the peace conference simulation.
For my character I played in the peace conference simulation, I feel out of 5 I would give myself
a 3.5 out of 5. I rated myself at this score because I could not persuade the leaders to accept my
ideas for the West Bank because they felt that giving 45% of the West Bank was a small number
for our first proposal. Another reason was that the leaders did not like my idea of letting 350,000
refugees back into Israel out of 700,000 because they thought the number of refugees was to many.
Also, with Jerusalem, I offered 45% to be given to the Palestinians, but the leaders felt there really

Essay on Trends in the Hospitality Indus
Trends in the Hospitality Industry
Nowadays trends are everywhere. You can find them in every industry and they play a huge role.
The retro trend in clothing, the SUV trend in the car industry, but nowhere else are trends more
important than in the hospitality industry. But what exactly is a trend? A trend describes usually
the time measurable course of a development into a certain quantitative and/or qualitative direction.
In economics, trends are changes of the behavior of the society. In marketing research this describes
the change and development of the consumerism and consumption behavior.

A lot of business travellers want to stay in well known hotels like Mariott or Hilton. Only 16%
want to stay in individual hotels. So for the industry it is important to have a very good
reputation. Of course the people try to get the best price for a room and most hotels have
company rates which are below the normal rack rate. Also important for a booking is the location
of the hotel and the bonus programs. For 26% of the guests Airline milage is important. So the
hotels have to work with airline companies and they want special conditons as well.
Because of the fast going world today the guests have no time to wait long for the check in or
check out procedures. They expect Express service. Also 68% want complimentary transportation
to the airport. The Opryland Hotel Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee, developed a system
to avoid long check in or check out times. You can check in or out via credit card. The system
checks the data and the credit range and the guest is checked in in seconds.

Breakfast of Champions Essay
Breakfast of Champions When one hears the phrase Breakfast of Champions, he envisions a
grinning picture of Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan slam dunking, or Dale Earnhardt in a racecar on
a box of Wheaties, a popular breakfast cereal. A few avid Saturday Night Live fans might recall a
skit performed by James Belushi. In the skit, Belushi s Breakfastof Championswas beer, cigarettes,

or Good Bye Blue Morning. A Breakfast of Champions is actually a martini.

everyone else is a robot (253). The book drives Hoover insane. He believes he is the only one
with free will. He begins attacking people in the lounge. He bites off Kilgore s middle finger.
Hoover leaves the hotel and attacks the people he meets outside until he is placed in a mental
hospital. After Kilgore leaves the hospital, he meets Philboyd Sludge, who reveals that he is
Kilgore s creator. Philboyd then frees him.

Bureaucratic Political Theory Paper
The organisational dynamics of guilds can be explored using the Bureaucratic Politics model,
which can be applied when there are multiple actors engaged with different priorities and
perceptions (McFarland Gomez, 2013). The Bureaucratic Politics theory contends that the multiple
players in an organisation have different resources and power, and the actors will enter a game of
exchange or bargaining according to agreed rules (McFarland Gomez, 2013). Each of the millions
of World of Warcraftplayers have resources of interest to other players, such as quest items,
knowledge or access to trade skill masters. Guilds are formed to enable groups to have access to
resources and enhance their ability to advance through the game.

As outlined on the WOWWiki (2013), you shouldn t expect free handouts for no effort .
3. The process of choice is where mutually acceptable trades are arranged (McFarland Gomez,
2013). There is a better chance of success for all players if the group works together, rather than as
individuals, so the group must work together to make decisions. At the same time each team
member is likely to want to protect their own parochial interests such as advancing one s own
personal quest, developing their own skills, or gaining power within the guild. Therefore, the
exchange process must be negotiated so that resources in the form of skills, collective knowledge,
or quest items are shared in a manner that is mutually acceptable for group members.
4. Each actor trades, trying to improve their position, fulfilling their preferences/identity as best
they can until no more legal or mutually acceptable trades are possible (McFarland Gomez, 2013).
The guild continues to reach collective decisions through the exchange of resources in order to
advance through the various stages and challenges of the game.
While the Bureaucratic Politics model provides a useful lens for examining guilds as coalitions that
enhance mutual interests and make favourable decisions, there are other elements that influence the
organisational dynamics of guilds that are not explicitly discussed in this theory. The Bureaucratic
Politics theory asserts that

Dbq Essay On The Colony Of John Winthrop
When starting a new colony, John Winthrop had a perfect utopia set up in his mind. Everyone
would get along with each other, everyone would be compassionate and helpful to everyone in
the community, and most of all, they would be a society based on relations and not God.
Winthrop realizes the various social classes people fit into, but he hopes that his city upon a hill
will unite everyone and make them all equal, regardless of social status. He hopes that the
people who are in the colony are good people, who will help anyone who needs it, when they
need it. Last of all, he hopes that the colony will keep the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace
in order to become the city upon a hill that he wants to be. In order to do this, God... Show more

Document D follows a small section of Anne Hutchinson s trial where Winthrop himself is,
essentially, arguing with someone about a rumored rule breaking. This goes against his vision
of complete peace with others within the colony. This excerpt shows that the community would
accept everyone, but in the case of Hutchinson, they are pushing her away and trying to kick her
out of the colony because she is supposedly pushing her limits of freedom. This goes to show that
even the person who has the vision of the society will still push people around because they don t
follow the exact rules of freedom that are put into place. The fact that someone is still praying to
God, and that even the person who s vision it was to be a city upon a hill is going against his
vision shows that the colony is still far from achieving Winthrop s vision. The two documents are
useful in the sense that they delve further into a specific part of the society. The poem by Anne
Bradstreet is vague because it doesn t really talk much about the society as a whole, but of her own
relation in the society. The excerpt between Hutchinson and Winthrop shows the court written
exchange, and could help prove that the society isn t the exact vision of the society because
Winthrop is clearly challenging Hutchinson s

  • 2. Effect of Schemas on Drawing a Clock Essay Title An investigation of the effects of schemas on drawing a clock. Introduction A schema according to Henry Gleitman (2007) is a mental representation that summarises what we know about a certain event or situation. Schemas reflect the fact that many aspects of our experience are redundant and schemas seek to provide a summary of this redundancy. When an individual encounters an event or situation, they seek to understand it by relating it to a schema. Schemas are useful not only in providing meaning in an experience, but also filling in the gaps resulting from a failure to notice all the details of an event or situation. However, reliance on schematic knowledge can lead to memory error, hence causing an individual to remember the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. Pasadena Museum Of California Art Analysis The Pasadena Museum of California Art has a beautiful exterior with an open air staircase with moody light play from an oculus above its entrance to a three story facility. The walls all around it are covered in complicated patterns and symbols. The building definitely stands out against all the other buildings in the area. The inside is very roomy, and filled with lots of artwork all around. The first piece of artwork is by William S. Rice. This piece is a painting, with many, many different colors. There is a parrot sitting atop a branch, and it seems to be looking down at a butterfly resting on a branch below it. I picked this piece because of the many vibrant colors it had. There was a parrot on a branch, and it seemed to be staring down ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It portrayed two different animals, in what seemed like a friendly situation, basically hanging out with each other. The artist s view of the world with these piece of art work might be that he wants world peace and everything to get along with each other just how the parrot and the butterfly are. The artist wants world peace basically, but us Christians should know that that is impossible, only in heaven. So this painting may just show what the artist wishes the world could be like. The second piece of art is called: Wounds of Existence. This seems to be a painting on a unusually rugged surface made out of un sanded wooden planks. It depicts what seems like, a man and a women with their faces close to each other with sad faces. The subject matter of this piece seem to be mellow and sad. I picked this piece because it jumped out at me at how absolutely unique it was, being painted on wooden planks. All the colors in this piece are more dark, and no color really stand out above the rest. Even though the surface of this painting was very un even, I could still see the shapes, colors and patterns. For the canvas of the painting, it doesn t look like something you d paint on. It appears that he just nailed a bunch of wooden planks on top of each other and next to each other and painted on them. Parts of this piece were probably painted with a brush, and maybe spray paint as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Financial Outcomes Paper Week 2: Financial Outcomes Paper FIN/419 April 6, 2011 Week 2: Financial Outcomes Paper Wal Mart Financial Initiative Wal Mart, a fortune 500 company, has thousands of stores in many countries around the world. Michael T. Duke, President and Chief Executive Officer of Wal Mart Stores, Inc. expresses one financial priority of Wal Mart as growth. Growth: We will continue to grow around the world. We have many opportunities to grow by opening new stores, entering new markets, making acquisitions, integrating online channels, and developing new, innovative formats to allow people to experience the Walmart brands (Wal Mart, 2010). Herein, Wal Mart s growth initiative, three potential financial outcomes, including... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As demonstrated in Portland, Oregon, not every community desires a Wal Mart. In his CEO s letter to the shareholders, Michael Duke referred to opportunities in metropolitan markets as a major contributor to growth potential (Wal Mart, 2010). However, sales growth has declined steadily since 2007. Wal Mart s 2010 annual report showed a 1% increase in sales growth over the prior year. With the steady decline in sales growth, Wal Mart s initiative to continue growing looks bleak; especially in hard economic times. Proof of the decline is seen in Wal Mart s 2011 first quarterly statement which posted a decline in same store sales in the United States of 1.4% (Stock Blog Hub, 2010, para. 3). New growth is the key to the success of Wal Mart s growth initiative. Without new markets, and with a steady decline in sales of existing stores, Wal Mart s faces an inevitable decline leading to a failed growth initiative. Financial Outcome: Increase in Sales Another potential outcome of the company s growth is initiative is that the sales will increase. For the last five years Wal Mart has experienced a year over year growth in its net sales. Sales increased 9%, 11%, 8%, 7% and 1% in the years 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 respectively (Wal Mart, 2010). The company previously credited lower grocery prices during peak shopping times like the Fourth of July holiday for the sales increase. • 7. Hanif Kureishi s My Son the Fanatic and Amy Tan s Two... In a world which is only now beginning to emerge from the shackles of colonialism, both former empires and the nations once subdued by their hegemony have entered a transitional period defined by uncertainty and the loss of collective identity. Compounding matters is the delicate balance that expatriates from former colonies turned independent countries, such as Pakistan, India, and Hong Kong, must seek to achieve while residing in the former motherland of Great Britain. For the most ambitious and hopeful immigrants, the arduous process of assimilation from pre colonial society to the very seat of imperial power which once exercised dominion over your homeland from afar can be a jarring metamorphosis. Two exquisitely written short stories published during the tumultuous postcolonial period of the late 1980s and early 1990 s, Hanif Kureishi s My Son the Fanatic and Amy Tan s Two Kinds, harness the provocative power of prose to explore the quintessentially modern cultural theme of dual and transitional identity. By juxtaposing the paternal expectation of father Parvez with the harsh reality his militarized, extremist son Ali, Kureishi exposes the fallacious notion of the British dream offered to immigrants from former colonies around the world. Through her wrenching tale of the divisions sewn between Chinese mothers, who lived through the Communist Cultural Revolution, and their Americanized daughters struggling to bear the burden of competing customs, Tan examines the ... • 8. Shame In The Puritan Era Statistics show that public humiliation is one of the most common fears. As many admit to this fear, many also grasp to this concept and shame one another for absurd conditions. In the Puritan Era, many methods were used to publicly shame someone for their wrong doing. One of their common methods was to openly tell their sin to the whole community. One of their extreme approaches was hanging someone. This showed the public to follow the regulations of the town and do not do anything against them. Fast forward to modern times, the scheme of humiliating one another changed drastically. For instance, many occurrences pertain from social media. In 1994, the first site of social media was created. From this point on, millions of different sites... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In today s society, the influence of social media, politics, and the blame of women, ignite a new way of publicly humiliating others. Initially, social media created a way to communicate with others and receive updates through one s life. As the power of this concept grew, and the more advanced technology created, people started to bully over the internet; called cyberbullying. Many incidents of cyberbullying occur, which grew into the primary way of bullying. Politics represent America, and essentially define the country. As a whole, eliminating public shame pertains to one of the goals of this country, but if representatives start to persuade the society, fundamentally, everyone will accept the thought of public humiliation. Lastly, the stereotypical perception of women is known as blaming another for one s actions or their appearance. As this stands in people s minds, many are blind to the fact that women actually receive shame for their bodies, self, and jobs more than men. The law now participates in the action of stopping the shame, but also intervenes with the supervision of prostitution, sex trafficking, and any illegal operations women participate in. With the influences of social media, politics, and the two sides of women in public shaming, this concept brings forth attention to the society itself. Although white collar crime makes up less than 1% of all arrests made, it can cost its victims upwards of trillions of dollars in fiscal damages each year (ACFE, 2014). Despite its detrimental cost to its victims, very few theories are capable of explaining why white collar crimetakes place. General strain theory is one of the few theories capable of explaining the phenomenon of white collar crime, naming the presence of negative stimuli and goal blockage, among other factors, as central causes of criminality, despite the background or demographic of the offender. Rothschild for six months, Jordan received a promotion to a position as a stockbroker, and was promptly laid off the same day due to the Black Monday crash. This situation in particular, placed an enormous amount of strain on Jordan as a positive stimulus was removed, via the loss of his job, and a negative stimulus was added, via pressure to provide for himself and his wife. These were added to the strain already being placed on Jordan through the disjuncture of his expectations and reality. In addition to the clustering of these negative events, losing a job was of high magnitude to Jordan as he viewed his position as a stockbroker as essential to the removal of another strain in his life, the gap between his desired wealth and his actual lower middle class lifestyle. Although Jordan was able to obtain a job as a stockbroker in a relatively short time, the effect of his recent unemployment impacted his decision to use illegal selling tactics when he returned to work. The combination of these factors led to feelings of disappointment, frustration and fear within Jordan, ultimately leading him to the use of illegal pump and dump selling techniques, in which a stockbroker provides a client with false insider information in order to intentionally drive up the value of an often, worthless stock, and convince the client to invest ... Education is greatly diverse today in comparison to the 1950s because of advancements in teaching and other great inventions that provide easier techniques of teaching. One major issue that has been raised is distant learning courses and online education. Distant learning could be any format from VHS videos, DVDs, or internet courses online. Certain programs can be made such as flash cards and games which can increase the learning experience of the student. These learning aides can be done on the student s time and does not require the teacher to be there. Time for a face to face class is very difficult if a person works 40 hours a week but an online course can put an ease on the time restriction because the person does the work at their own pace and time. It is also easier to sign up for an online class than a class at a college. Message boards are in use if the students need to leave a question or a comment about the subject their on. They also save time by not traveling to the college and trying to find a parking space. Rural areas where students have to travel a great distance to get to class can save time and money by doing online classes. • 11. Exploring the Theme of Love in Sonnets 57 and 58 Essay Shakespeare s sonnets are numbered in a sequential order and adjacent sonnets often have similar content. Throughout Shakespeare s sonnets, he covers many subjects, such as interest in the life of a young man, his love for a young man, and his love for a dark haired woman. In sonnets 57 and 58, Shakespeare discusseshow love is like slavery in its different manifestations. The object of the narrator s love has a dominating power over the narrator, which controls him and guideshis actions. Shakespeare shows in sonnets 57 and 58 that love can be displayed by using many different routes such as viewing love as a controlling force, exploring the theme of time and waiting in regards to love, and the question of the physical state of being of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In sonnet 57, line five, the narrator says I don t dare , thereby again showing his reluctance to resist the efforts of the lover to control him and dominate him. In sonnet 58, line 9, the narrator says that the control over him by the lover is very strong, however he doesn t seem to make any effort to resist these temptations and exertions of power, but rather resigns to them and accepts them as part of his life. The use of the word tame to describe himself in sonnet 58, line seven, suggests that the narrator doesn t want to actively resist the domination by the lover but instead is resigning his will to the lover. As the narrator lets himself be enveloped in his love for the young man, he loses a part of his own willpower. Time is also addressed in both of these sonnets. Both sonnets have images of the narrator waiting. In sonnet 58, line four has the narrator awaiting the leisurely needs of the lover, and again in line 13 I am to wait signifies the author waiting for the lover. In sonnet 57, line one the narrator says what else can I do but wait. In line six, the narrator refers to watching the clock or waiting, and also in line eleven he says stay which means wait. The parliamentary system is a system of democratic governance wherein the executive and legislative branches of the government are intertwined and are lead collectively by a Prime Minister who must have been proven to be competent and capable, as chosen among his party members. However, the Philippines is currently under the presidential system, also a system of democratic but republican governance, which is led this time by a president, and wherein there is a separation of powersbetween the executive and the legislative. People depend on religion and settle for what s okay. In addition, the initial reaction of Filipinos to change is resistance, and this is why the country does not necessarily progress, or at least, progress at a continuous rate. Then, countries like Spain and Portugal only rode the economic tiger after they realized that the only way to survive was change (3.Y). Plus, according to another critic, the Philippines already had the experience of being under the parliamentary system during the time of Marcos which only resulted in a People Power Revolution. So why should the country bother going back to that? (4.Y) However, it was Marcos who envisioned a New Society or a Bagong Lipunan that urged the poor and privileged to work as one for the country s economic goals through self realization. • 14. The Effects Of Sugar Intake On Individuals Introduction In the United States there are numerous Americans that suffer from Type 2 Diabetes, too much sugar intake, and being overweight. Additionally, there are numerous debates as to which sweetener, honey, fructose, or high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is consequentially better for people. Many argue that each have different metabolic effects on individuals, while other experts claim all three have basically the same effects. While this topic is quite controversially and a fairly new concept, most experts and researchers tend to agree that reducing any type of sugarintake can decrease excessive body weight and the chance of suffering from diabetes, obesity, and an array of other health complications. The Institute of Medicine suggests no more than 25% of daily energy should be consumed as sugars. (Raatz, Johnson, and Picklo, 2015). However, the American Heart Association has different scales based on gender and calorie intake. There are other suggestions as well, which in turn leads to confusion for the average consumer. Hypothesis The authors, Raatz, Johnson and Picklo, based out of the University of Minnesota, performed an experiment to test three popular nutrient sugars on glucose tolerant and intolerant individuals: honey, sucrose, and HFCS. HFCS is said to be the worse sweetener for health on the market followed by sucrose. On the other hand honey is thought to be the natural sweetener based on its supposed ability to provide the body with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They can sometimes appear legitimate, especially in the economic and social areas, because they would only result from the individuals aptitudes and efforts; that would start with the same equal opportunities. However, women are becoming more and more recognized by the French population, which in turn, gives them increasing respect and responsibilities. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is also an evolution towards more parity in fields not really feminized (such as engineer schools, preparatory classes to higher education institutions with competitive entrance examination), and a more important feminization of the fields already associated with females such as literature, art, etc (Ministry of National Education, Youth, and Community Life). Unfortunately, the parity observed in education is not applied in the job market. An equal professional insertion is still difficult for young women, and in opposition to their higher success at school. We can notice that the employment rate is more important among women than among men in France , with 8 million unemployed women in 2008. They also have a lower activity rate: 65.5% versus 74.6% for men in 2008. Moreover, one third of them have a part time job, which leads to a higher poverty rate: 7.4% versus 6.9% (INSEE). As a consequence, women live in more precarious life styles and are sources of various social and economic issues. Thus, there is no economic independence for women and therefore no equality for them. This music stressed emotion, imagination, and individualism. The Romantic period was about freedom of expression and breaking away from time honored conventions. This period in time had influenced many, or even all of the arts. Painters used bolder and more brilliant colors in their works. Also, they had preferred dynamic motion to gracefully balanced poses. Poetry was also changed during the Romantic Period. Emotional subjectivity was a basic quality in every type of art during this time. Many artists had become romantics and had become drawn to the realm of fantasy: the unconscious, the irrational, and the world of dreams. Looking back over the list of characteristics discussed above one can readily see that despite the fact that Romanticism was not nearly as coherent a movement as the Enlightenment, and lacked the sort of programmatic aims the latter professed, it was even more successful in changing history changing the definition of what it means to be human. Your research not only provides you ethos as a writer by revealing your knowledge and understanding of the topic, but also will very likely shape both your understanding and interpretation of the topic. Listed below are several important tips for conducting research and notetaking: * In order to avoid later confusion, begin each section by recording the author s name, book or article title, and page numbers (if relevant). * As you examine each source, record important or unique notions which you may wish to incorporate within your paper. Make certain to outline the general arguments of each source by including a descriptive heading after the citation. This will aid you in more quickly and easily distinguishing between sources in the future. Additionally, it may be useful to group sources into categories based on more refined topics. * In order to diminish the risk of plagiarizing, do NOT directly lift phrasing or entire segments of the text from sources without properly indicating that you have done so. If you find it necessary to directly quote an author, clearly indicate what has been copied from the author and record the page number on which this information can be found. * Remain critical of your sources: Do not assume that an idea or criticism is valid, because it appears in the argument of a single critic or even multiple ...
