This document compares the philosophies of Transcendentalism and the Indian concept of "Aham Brahmasmi." Transcendentalism emerged in New England in the 1830s and taught that divinity pervades nature and humanity. It valued intuition over empirical thinking. The Indian philosophy of "Aham Brahmasmi" means "I am Brahman/divine" and refers to the Hindu belief that the soul is divine and connected to God. Both philosophies emphasize spirituality, individualism, and the soul's connection to the divine. They share concepts of seeing divinity in oneself and nature.
