This document announces a series of free workshops on using online mapping tools and participatory research methods to engage communities and strengthen community-led action. The workshops will be held in San Diego, Ventura/Santa Barbara, and Orange County. They will teach participants how to create maps of community assets and issues, make maps that tell their community's story, and use social media to share research. The goal is to provide skills for communities to lead their own research on issues impacting their neighborhoods.

3.Ways to make this map-making process participatory
4.About CBPAR and different ways to involve community members in the research process

16. Workshop #3: HyperlocalCommunication: Sharing Your Maps and Research
In this workshop you will learn:
1.About social networking tools thatcan be used for research and action
2.How to use socialmediatools to make sharing and dissemination a participatory process
3.About CBPAR and different ways to share maps and researchwithcommunity members
4.How community organizations have shared maps and data in their work.
