My First Day At School Essay
Writing an essay on the topic "My First Day At School" can be both a nostalgic and challenging
task. While the subject matter might evoke personal memories and emotions, articulating them in
a coherent and engaging manner requires careful consideration. The difficulty lies in striking the
right balance between vividly recounting the experience and maintaining a structured narrative
that captures the reader's interest.
One of the challenges is to avoid being overly sentimental or clichГ©d. It's essential to convey
the significance of the first day at school without resorting to generic expressions. Finding the
right words to describe the mixture of excitement, apprehension, and curiosity that accompanied
that initial foray into the world of education can be a delicate task.
Furthermore, organizing the essay in a logical and compelling sequence poses another hurdle.
The narrative must flow seamlessly, allowing the reader to accompany the writer through the
various stages of the first day – from the initial arrival to the classrooms, meeting new
classmates, and navigating the unfamiliar surroundings. Balancing descriptive elements with
reflections on personal growth can be tricky but is crucial for a well-rounded essay.
Additionally, incorporating sensory details can enhance the essay's authenticity. Describing the
sights, sounds, and even the scents of the school environment on that particular day can transport
the reader back in time. Striking the right chord between sensory vividness and maintaining a
focused narrative is a skill that adds to the complexity of the writing process.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on the topic of "My First Day At School" requires careful
consideration of language, structure, and emotional nuance. It demands a balance between
personal expression and universal relatability, making it both a challenging and rewarding
endeavor for any writer.

The Role of French Architecture in French Culture
French architectures plays an important role in its culture. The Arena of NГ®mes
is a Gallo Roman style architecture located in the city of NГ®mes. It was built
around 70 AD and remodeled in 1863 to serve as a bullring. Nowadays, bullfights
are banned due to its cruelness. Notre Dame de Paris is a Gothic style Catholic
cathedral in Paris. It is widely considered to be one of the finest examples of French
Gothic architectureand among the largest and most well known church buildings in
the world. The Palace of Versailles is a baroque style royal ChГўteau. Versailles is
famous not only as a building, but as a symbol of the system of absolute monarchy of
the Ancien RГ©gime. The LouvrePalace is a former royal palace located in Paris.
The present day Louvre Palace is a vast complex of wings and pavilions on four

Critical Pedagogy And The Reggio Emilia
Critical pedagogy and The Reggio Emilia approach on play based learning should be
merged into early childhood education as obtaining the skills to critically analyze and
problem solve has the potential to change society and thus the potential to change the
world.
It is important individuals become aware of what critical pedagogy is. Critical
pedagogy stems from the idea that there is an unequal social structure in our society
which is based upon class, race and gender. It has been formulated and influenced by
many psychologists and philosophers including John Dewey and Paulo Freire. Critical
pedagogy is an attempt at freedom from oppression through democratic critical
thinking. In critical pedagogy the knowledge learned within the classroom should
correlate with and not be separated from any social structure, culture, politics,
economics or any ideology taking place with society. The idea is, that in order to
orchestrate change, individuals must become aware of the social, cultural,
ideological, and or economic influence exerted upon society. Once the individual
becomes aware of the hegemony taking place they can then analyze their situation
and implement change for the greater good.
John Dewey born October 20th, 1859 was an American psychologist and philosopher.
He was known well for his avocation in democracy and his theories on progressive
education which correlate and transition into critical pedagogy. His theories focused
on the argument that learning and education are
Dd303 “the Way We Speak Determines How We
Think”....
Option 1 The way we speak determines how we think . Critically evaluate this
statement, drawing on the key theories and research that describe the relationship
between language and thought. Language has traditionally been characterized by
Philosophers as a cognitive tool used to freely externalize ones thoughts (Green, 2010
as cited in Kaye, 2010). The relationship between language, thought, culture and
reality has occupied the minds of many for centuries. Early theorists argued that
language and thought were two separate systems which enter into an array of
interconnected cognitive structures (Chomsky, 1983). Extreme nativists and
constructivists are key proponents of innateness and argued that knowledge and...

Criticisms of his theory are highlighted as complete disregard for meaning and the
social aspects or environment at which a child first acquires its words. Other
critiques look at evidence produced by children with a hearing impairment.
Questions surround what kind of parameters they would apply when using sign
language. If Chomsky s (2006) theory is to be correct then, it does not explain how
children who learn two languages at once can apply parameter settings (Messer, 2000
cited in Green, 2010). Contrasting with the nativist approach, linguistic determinism
argued in support for the notion that language influences or even determines how we
speak. These ideas were first presented in the early 1930 s by Edward Sapir and
Benjamin Lee Whorf, who studied how languages vary and proposed ways that
speakers of different tongues may think differently. Due to lack of empirical evidence
at the time, their ideas of determinism (Whorfian hypothesis) were rejected but later
reinstated with a weaker, less controversial notion of linguistic relativism, suggesting
how language influences thought rather than determines it. (Green, 2010) Firstly
many of the early studies supporting Whorf s hypothesis derived from studies of
colour perception and naming. Brown and Lenneberg, (1954) found cross cultural
differences in the speed of colour naming and recognition, related to colour terms in
different languages, though the study found correlations rather than a
Argumentative Essay On The Catcher In The Rye
It killed me, it really did. Remember this phrase from somewhere? It s the line
Holden Caulfield says every time in the iconic novel; The Catcher in the Rye.
Since the book was published in 1951 by J.D. Salinger, many people from all over
the world have loved it. This book was even carried by the killer of John Lennon,

lonelier. What does he need? Why is it that Holden is mentally struggling so much
even though he s rich and goes to good schools? It s because Holden isn t getting
the right help he needs. Holden has been alone ever since Allie died. He was close
to his siblings, but from far away. He hardly had any close friends. The adults he

own lives. Old Spencer was old and sick, and Mr. Antolini wasn t as unconditional
as he seemed to be. He needs his parents. It is a pity that his parents weren t trying
to communicate with their son as much about his feelings, but Holden had every
chance to approach them first. After he gets off the train when he arrives in New

The Attractive Factors Of Home Based Business
t is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore the growing importance women role in
the global economy. During the last decade most of women around the world who
become financial independent have done so by starting their own business. One of
the studies about women running their business found that (percentage of women
running their business in different countries). In fact, women Entrepreneurs tend to
have home based business (HBBs). This means that they are running their business
from home due to a lot of reasons. For example, Saudi women entrepreneurs face
plenty of restrictions by government laws, customs and traditions such as not
allowed to drive or working with men. In addition, most of them must have a male
representative to deal door to door with the government agencies (Minkus
McKenna,2009). Furthermore, they beat the difficulty to obtain financial funding
to start their own business. However, all of these restrictions could not stop women
business to develop. This essay aims to explore some of the attractive factors of
home based business (HBBs) to Saudi women. It will attempt to show that lower
costs, better work life balance and e marketing might be the main attractive
elements for Saudi women to run their business from home. This paper has been
organized in the following way. First it will begin by lower costs, the second part
deals with better work life balance and finally it will examine e marketing home

As an international student, I needed to take both the TOEFL and SAT in order to
apply for universities in the United States. The writing parts of these two tests both
involve argumentative essays. However, I had no prior experience of writing
argumentative essays. Back in middle school, I was always dealing with narratives,
which mainly focus on the experience of people and the development of events. In
contrast, argumentative writingis very different. Its way of expression is to speak of
truth and to directly express personal perspectives. In order to write good
argumentative, I had to learn from the very beginning. Fortunately, my school offered
courses on argumentative essaywriting. I took part in that course and found it to be

Comparing The TV Show Gossip Girl
The show gossip girl has been called the best teen drama ever made. However,
there are many people who say that they don t understand why gossip girl went on
for as long as it did. That being said it is based on the novels gossip girl. Which is
based on an Elite privet school on the upper east side of Manhattan whose students
are less than citizens of the year. The show gossip girlis about a mysterious blogger
who exposes the main characters any time they have a secret. In the show the
blogger is called gossip girl and she runs everything if gossip girl doesn t write about
you then are you even alive. However, gossip girl has a few favorite victims, those

In the books we see a somewhat lazy character development. In the books the
characters are two dimensional at best. They have no feelings no layers and the
characters are just rich high school students who blow their parents money on
clothes, parties and drugs. Serena van der woodsen in the books is the tall hot
blonde that every girl wants to be and every guy wants to be with and best friend to
Blair waldorf. In the show she s all those things but she also has her own coming of
age story that we see play out in the show such as the time she comes back to the
upper east side from boarding school because her younger brother tried to kill
himself because he s gay and their parents wouldn t accept him. Then there was the
time she admits to killing a man. In another instance where Serena runs away and
gets engaged. This made the show so much better than the book because in the book
she comes back to the upper east side because she gets kicked out of boarding school

Fun House, Not So Fun
The autobiographical graphic novel Fun Home, by Alison Bechdel presents
characters evolving to the reader in an intimate way. She reveals within her novel
the high cost of claiming to be gay or lesbian within America. Instead of reading the
author s recollection of her experiences, her graphic novel connects the reader within
the experience as the observer. This allows the reader to look at both the personality
of the novelist and the developmental impacts that have shaped her. Fun Home, is a
distinctively persuasive novel that is entangled within the lives of Alison s family.
While presenting to the reader the explanations of Bruce s death, Alison endeavors to
adjust to the reality of her father s death by remembering family life at the Fun House.
Alison introduces the mourning of her father to the readers as the central event of
the story in the first chapter. She proclaims her father s demise by saying; His
death was quite possibly his consummate artifice, his masterstroke. In essence she
is broadcasting Bruce Bechdel death as a clever move, while trying to acclimate to
the reality of her father s death. Her lack of emotions shows she has not adapted to
reality, the comic strip illustrates her dead stair looking away from her father s
coffin. At the same time, family and friends believe Bruce was run over by a truck
and his death is an accident, but Alison is convinced

the focus of the article you chose captured your interest and why.
I chose Smoking behavior and motivational flexibility in light and heavy
smokers, (Darlow Lobel 2012) because I have never understood why people chose
to smoke. You know that smoking is bad for your health when you start smoking
and you know it is hard to quit so why do people even start smoking in the first
place? This article captured my interest because I work with a lot of people that
smoke and have been smoking for years and I always wondered what their
motivation was to smoke. I have also always wondered if there were certain triggers
that caused them to, crave, a cigarette. I think learning why people smoke and what
dictates when they do it would be informational.

Harry Potter Vs. CS Lewis
Young adult novels have drifted in and out of popularity. But some have stood the
test of time, became classics. They are favourites of children everywhere. The

Lgbt Diversity And The Lgbt Community
In today s society the issues and rights of the LGBT community are very prominent
and is a major topic of discussion within politics. LGBT which stands for (Lesbians,
Gays, Bisexual, and Trans) encompasses all of those who fall under those categories
and those who support the community as well. With the legalization of gaymarriage in
all 50 states by the U.S Supreme Court the LGBTcommunity is making milestones
when it comes to having the same rights as heterosexual couples. With its growing
presence in the community it is essential to understand their culture and respect the
diversity of the group.
While working at BIC, a ware house located in Charlotte, nc, I met a diverse group
of individuals but the bulk of my coworkers were members of the LGBT
community. This was different for me because the high school I attended and my
previous college I didn t interact directly with anybody from that community. The
closest I had come to this was being in a modeling organization with gay males.
The women practiced separately so even then my contact was very limited. The
people I worked with at BIC quickly became good friends of mine despite are
different sexual orientations, this lead them to extend an invite to a nightclub
called The Scorpio. In the beginning i was hesitant to go because I had never been
to a LGBT event and did not know how different it would be from going to a
heterosexual nightclub. Before the event i was very conscious of what I wore

What Is The Criticism Of Adorno
Adorno contrasts Benjamin s theory. Adorno, in his writings states that he believes
technology and the ability to recreate pieces of work has no possible positive
repercussions. Adorno believes that the ability to recreate something destroys the
originality and value of the piece, but unlike Benjamin , Adorno sees no benefit in
art forms being more widely available through the ability to record and reproduce
copies of such pieces, is not beneficial to the piece in any means. Adorno believes that

Trasformations By Anne Sexton
Anne Sexton was an American poet, known for her highly intimate and sometimes
even controversial writing style. She started writing poetry in 1952 after being
advised to do so by her psychiatrist, whom she has been meeting to address her
recessing mental health. In one of the collections, called Trasformations, Sexton re
tells Grimm s Fairy Tales in her own unique confessional style, often using the
absurdity of these stories to expose flaws and complexity of the surrounding world.
By slightly mocking the themes of the fairytales, Sexton succeeds in making us
question what is underneath their perfect facades. I would like to concentrate onto
her re tell of Cinderellaand how it differs from the Brothers Grimms version.

are four stanzas that introduce us to the theme she wanted to convey to the
readers. It is four different depictions of the rags to riches stories. What is more,
the last verse of the poem is the same as every of those stanzas and shows us that
Sexton views story of Cinderella as yet another of those tales. This rags to riches
motif is not displayed so evidently in the Grimm s version so we can regard this

manual and electrically powered. Where forklifts are not required, walkie stackers
can be used for transporting and lifting pallets; for instance, in small warehouses,
storerooms and in specialised warehousing sections. Walkie stackers are ideal for
small capacity items that are transported around a warehouse for less than five
hours each day. It is recommended that they should be used only on concreted flat
floors and as they have small wheels, they are more fitting for indoor use; however,
they can be ordered from the factory with special requirements like bigger wheels.

Winnie The Pooh By Winnie Pooh
Winnie the Pooh is a tale that spans across generations of childhoods and
adulthoods. The gentle appeal of a soft, simple bear and his group of eclectic
friends has captured the hearts of millions. However, in the search to make Pooh
more marketable, drastic changes have been made to the original text in order to
appeal to a wider audience. In my research, I will explore how the commercialization
of Winnie the Poohaffected the original text, both in its meaning and sentimental
value. Winnie the Pooh has not always been the stylized, bright yellow bear that we
now see plastered on countless spin off books, movies, mugs, and shower curtains.
On the contrary, the history behind the first publication of Winnie the Pooh is one of
sweet and simple origins. A. A. Milne, the author, wouldn t have even considered
writing a children s book if it weren t for his son, Christopher. Before Christopher s
birth in 1920, Milne was a somewhat successful playwright, mystery author, and
humorist for Punch magazine. However, he was inspired to write a book that his
son would cherish by basing it on Christopher s favorite stuffed bear, Winnie.
When Milne proposed the idea of writing children s poetry, his British publisher
was disappointed; he was expecting an adult mystery novel that he knew could sell.
After being rejected, Milne went to Punch magazine, where he was allowed to test
out his idea. In 1924, a Pooh like bear first appeared in the poem Teddy Bear, which
centered on a bear who

What Makes A Wearable Health Technology Product That

Being part of the extremely competitive and constantly evolving textiles, apparel
luxury goods industry requires us to constantly strive to be innovative. We must
frequently analyze the market, its trends, and all relevant information that can inform
us of opportunities and threats that apply to our industry (Textiles, Apparel Luxury
Goods). This is especially important for us now as we have lost the trust of many of
our customers and our financial health is currently ranked as negative by several
reviewers such as the S P Capital IQ Quantitative Stock Report. Lululemon s previous
leaders decision to compromise quality and the numerous public disagreements
surrounding how the company should be run have led to confusion among our
stakeholders and consumers. Recent management changes have caused a further loss
of trust amongst our customers. It is imperative that we better our financial health
and improve our customers perception of our company within the next year. To help
achieve both these objectives, our next big move should be to introduce a wearable
health technology product that our consumers can use to monitor their health and
track improvements in their fitness. Two factors are central to this proposal: (1) we
understand that the climate of our market and industry is extremely competitive and
it is vitally important for us to stand out by introducing an innovative and highly
desirable product and (2) there currently is a significant trend surrounding the use

The Metamorphosis of Celie in The Color Purple
For people to be equal they need a chance to become equal by self discovering
themselves. As we are growing older during our childhood we depend on our
environment, parents, and peers to create our self image. Within our environment we
are always trying to develop new insights in order to identify, clarify, connect and
account for our beliefs. Even the underlying cause of dysfunctional relationships lies
in crucial events in our life experience. The environment in which one is raised and
developed will have a large affect on the individual. Most of the people that succeed
in life come from stable families, in well positioned environments. While those that

. .a man s world (Klosowski 4). As a result of Celie s environment she never get s a
fair opportunity to self discover until she gets away from her surroundings.
The society in which she lived forced her to act the way she did. Walker shows Celie
as part of a community which shares struggles, and women are oppressed by men.
In this society, The white man destroyed the black man, the black man destroyed
the woman( Klosowski 5). Celie is dominated and abused by the majority of the
male figure in the novel including her stepfather. Her stepfather was a major
influence in her life. Her stepfather raped her, causing the birth of two children
whom he gave away to an old friend. The second man in her life, her husband,
abused her not only physically by beating her but he also abused her verbally by
calling her names. These two men left her subdued and passive. She became
emotionally dead with this
suppression of her personality of who she was. she was just a person who cooked
and cleaned and took care of the children without any consideration given to her.
She is uneducated because her father took her out off school as a result of her
pregnancies. Celie is raised in an environment where she wasn t allow to have a
mind of her own because her father dominated and controlled all her actions. For
example, Celie writes letters to God because she has been warned by her

Throughout the school year, they have a handful of nights where the parents can
bring the student and socialize and get to know others. Parents are always welcome
to volunteer and help out during the day in the classroom. While these are great ways
to include parents in their child s education, Joyce Epstein of Johns Hopkins
University mentions 6 levels of involvement. The first level is parenting, teachers
should help establish a home environment that supports learning for the child.
Secondly, communicating from school to home and home to school. Some different
ways to do this are phone calls, newsletters, and emails. The next level is
volunteering. Teachers should not only promote but ask for family support in and out
of the classroom. Learning at home is the fourth level of parent involvement. Teachers
should include information about what their child is learning and how they can help
with the child s reading and homework and what needs to be improved. Fifthly,
teachers should include parents in school decisions and create family organizations
such as PTA. Lastly, teachers should collaborate with the community and provide
information about community health, cultural, social support, and other programs or

Similarities Between Calgary And Makkah
Recently, I have observed that people all over the world act differently. For
example, someone from The Calgary, Canada would behave differently then
someone from Makkah, Saudi Arabia because of several reasons. Personally, I
believe that culture, geography, and climate play a major role in determining how
people act. The similarities and differences between Calgary and Makkah are very
obvious.
An essential point that affects the way people behave is, culture. Calgary is very
multicultural city, there are people from all over the world who have different
cultures and religions. On the other hand, everyone in Makkah is Muslim so
everyone there essentially has the same culture. Culture affects how people act
because of religion and clothing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Calgary, the climate is very humid and it averages daily temperatures of 16.5 В°C
in July to в€’6.8 В°C in December. In contrast, Makkah has a hot desert climate and it
maintains its warm temperature in winter, which can range from 18 В°C at night to
30 В°C in the day. Summer temperatures are extremely fiery, often being over 40
В°C during the day and 30 В°C at night. Climate, affects things such as clothing,
sports, cars, and houses. In Calgary, the climate fluctuates quite a lot, but around
summer time most people will be wearing t shirts and shorts whereas in winter they
would be covered up with a warm jacket, mittens, toque, a scarf. Furthermore, in
summer the soccer season would be played outdoors but because of the climate in
winter we have indoor soccer season. In addition to that, the cars that are on the
streets during the summer are usually sedans, but in winter people are driving huge
trucks. Also, in Calgary the houses are very insulated because it can get very cold
outside in winter, since the houses are insulated the people don t feel how cold it is
outside at all. In addition to that, the houses have double garage doors showing the
significance of a car. On the other hand, in Makkah, the temperatures remain warm
so people usually wear quite thin clothing. Sports in Makkah would be played
outside because there is no need to go inside. The cars that are on the roads in
Makkah stay the same because there is no change in the seasons besides the
temperature. The houses in Makkah are concrete and not insulated because it is
already warm. In summary, we can agree that climate affects how people
Both Sides of the Coin of Indian Immigration to America
1.Immigration
Immigration is what carves the picture of the modern world. Travelling from one
country to other for trading had been popular since historic times. Immigration
means the one way flow of the population to a specific place or country. People
move out of the native country or state for various reasons. Better employment
opportunities and a desire for a better living and future are the main driving forces.
Though, in present times there are several other reasons like immigrating for
education and/ or seeking political asylum in neutral countries etc.
Personally, my family members (including the ancestors) have never migrated to any
place other than India. My parents, grand parents, their parents and so on, have all
been living in India since their birth. Although of the family tree situated in India,
some far away individual relatives have migrated to different countries like USA and
UK, but just for work or education; without any settlement plans.
As said earlier, immigration forms the present face of the world. America is nothing
more than unison of immigrants coming from different parts of the world. Even, the
Aryans, who are the predecessors of north Indians, are believed to have migrated
from Middle Asia to India. Immigration acts in both directions of development, the
positive as well as negative. On one hand, it opens the way for talented and
professional work force from the other lands. But it also enhances the rate of
competition and struggle for
Effects Of Credit Risk On Financial Institutions
A common saying tied to many new endeavors, Without risk, there is no reward .
Financial institutions are no exception to this rule. The major risks that all financial
institutions are exposed to are credit risk, liquidity risk, operational risk, market risk,
business risk, reputational risk, systemic risk, and moral hazard (Perez, 2014). Of
these top eight scenarios, credit, market, and operational risks are the three major risk
factors that Jeanne D Arc is focused on mitigating during and following the business
service project.
Credit risk indicates a decline in the credit assets values before default that arises
from the deterioration in a financial institution s portfolio quality. Credit risk can
also represent the volatility the loss in the credit asset s value and the loss in the
current and future earnings from the credit (Perez, 2014). To prepare and
accommodate inevitable losses stemming from our business credit card Jeanne D Arc
has budgeted for a loan loss reserve to help protect the financial integrity and assets of
the credit union.
Operational risk occurs in all day to day activities in banking. As the credit union is
looking to attract a new type of member, this risk is can be caused by inadequate
internal processes, people, systems, and external events. Some examples of
operational risk include people risk, hacking of the core processing system, errors in
information processing, data transmission, data retrieval, and inaccuracy of outputs
(Perez, 2014).
Perfect Competition
Perfect Competition
In economic theory, perfect competition describes markets such that no participants
are large enough to have the market power to set the price of a homogeneous product.
Because the conditions for perfect competition are strict, there are few if any
perfectly competitive markets. Still, buyers and sellers in some auction type markets,
say for commodities or some financial assets, may approximate the concept. Perfect
competition serves as a benchmark against which to measure real life and imperfectly
competitive markets.
Generally, a perfectly competitive market exists when every participant is a price
taker , and no participant influences the price of the product it buys or sells. Specific
characteristics may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this way way it decides the market price as well as the total quantity if a
commodity supplied in the market, and therefore it is called a price maker.
Imperfect Competition
In economic theory, imperfect competition is the competitive situation in any market
where the sellers in the market sell different/dissimilar of goods, (haterogenous) that
does not meet the conditions of perfect competition. Forms of imperfect competition
include: * Monopoly, in which there is only one seller of a good. * Oligopoly, in
which there are few sellers of a good. * Monopolistic competition, in which there are
many sellers producing highly differentiated goods. * Monopsony, in which there is
only one buyer of a good. * Oligopsony, in which there are few buyers of a good. *
Information asymmetry when one competitor has the advantage of more or better
information.
There may also be imperfect competition due to a time lag in a market. An example
is the jobless recovery . There are many growth opportunities available after a
recession, but it takes time for employers to react, leading to high unemployment.
High unemployment decreases wages, which makes hiring more attractive, but it
takes time for new jobs to be created.A type of market that does not operate under the
rigid rules of perfect competition. Perfect competition implies an industry or market
in which no one supplier can influence prices, barriers to entry
Hubbardee Foods Case Study Assignment
Introduction:
A)Background/overview of Hubbard Foods Ltd.
Dick Hubbard is the well know business personality in New Zealand and is the
owner at Hubbard Foods Ltd. During his early stage he started the company by the
name of Winner Foods in 1998 and 2 years later renamed it to Hubbard s Food.
Before setting up his own company, he started his career by working as a food
technologist at tropical fruit factory. He also went on teamwork and confidence
building course called Outward Bound, which he feels has made enormous
contribution in his life. During early years the company experienced financial crunch
but the turnaround came when an oat bran muesli product was launched as an in
house supermarket brand and was very successful leading Hubbards to focus solely
on breakfast cereal market. Within no time the business started growing rapidly;
Dick hired more employees and outgrew its premises and factory in Mangere,
Auckland. Throughout this growth period and drawing from his own experiences,
Dick maintained a socially responsible perspective of the business. He believed in
the philosophy of creating employment and not replacing people with machinery
unless it was absolutely necessary. For him staff members are the vital stakeholders
in the business and are treated with respect and dignity. He was also successful in
fostering the camaraderie atmosphere among employees and management. Being, a
democratic leader he let on his employees to take a more participative role in the
decision making process. Everyone in the company is given the opportunity to
participate, ideas are exchanged freely, and discussion is encouraged.
B)Brief overview of the sector in which Hubbard Foods Ltd competes.
Hubbard Foods operate under the breakfast cereal category of FMCG sector. FMCG
used to be called the grocery industry, now it s just called FMCG. This is an
acronym for Fast Moving Consumer Goods which, translated into English, means
things you buy on a regular basis at places like your local supermarket. Things like
butter, potato chips, toothpaste, bread, breakfast cereal and other groceries are some
examples.
The FMCG industry encompasses many of New Zealand s best known companies,

The Employment Status Of Workers Essay
INTRODUCTION
It is certainly true that the current law defining the employment status of workers
is uncertain, as it is wholly inflexible to deal effectively with cases of non standard
forms of employment, atypical workers, for example: agency workers, part time
workers, fixed term workers, as required workers and homeworkers. Thus, reform is
necessary to redress the concerns of lack of legal certainty in relation to this area of
the law.
This essay will argue that the concept of worker defined under section 230 of the
Employment Rights Act ( ERA ) 1996 is board; however, due to the undefined
scope of section 230(3) of ERA 1996, employment tribunals and the courts have
adapted a rigid approach in their interpretation; that there is a high degree of legal
uncertainty as established in this area of law; that the law does not adequately deal
with non standard forms of workers ; present proposals for reform by the UK
Parliament on the interpretation and application of law at common; and finally
provide a conclusion for the arguments put forth.
THE CURRENT STATE OF THE LAW Firstly, employment tribunals and the courts
have interpreted the concept of workers too narrowly, by limiting the common law
interpretation of workers under section 230(3) of the ERA 1996 and rights
conferred on workers. Under section 230(3) ERA 1996, worker is defined as an
individual who has entered into work: under a contract of employment, or any other
contract express or implied... to do

It is said that No one is born hating another person for their skin, or his background,

Diversity means is a range of different things and adversity means difficulties or
misfortunes. Although the two have different meanings I feel that they play a
vital role in a person or a monster s life. The world is full of diversity and in order to
preserve, overcome, and meet our goals, we have to be a challenge and depending
on how we go about on being taken out of our comfort zone determines whether

Instead of lashing out and destroyin everything around him he uses his intelligence

Praying For Sheetrock Book Report
There were many things you could have learned from reading the book Praying for
Sheetrock that would be very useful to your lives. Segregation was one of those
things because in the book the white had their own community in the book and
African Americans had their own communities in the wood they both were separated
but not equal because the white were in charge of both communities. Corruptionwas
happening all through this book from the sheriffPoppell tipping the truck on the

One important thing I learned was about segregation and how it could deeply hurt
a town and that if we don t integrated that we will never be equal. I also learned how
bad corruption could affect a town like McIntosh County in a good and bad way.
Corruption could be used in a good way, for example, when the trucks were on the
road and sheriff Poppel let the poor people take what s on the truck because they
couldn t afford to buy them. Corruption could also be used in a bad way, like when
they were ticking the northerners to take their money or how it took down the
hero. The violent act of an unarmed black man being shot in the mouth and dragged
to jail with no medical attention was also a concept still happening to this day. We
should all take a lesson from this book and making sure we re integrated and were

led through habits that Covey has linked to the internal and external success of
individuals. These habits are split into categories that describe the shift from
dependence, independence, interdependence, then to maintenance and improvements.
The first stage to become an effective person involves proactivity, starting with an end
point, and putting first things first. The second part that involves working with others
focused on a win/win outcome, understanding someone before trying to be
understood, and synergizing. The last habit, sharpening the saw, is a continuous
process of learning and reflecting to become the best version of yourself. I found the

There was little hope for a political solution regarding the racial divide (Spark Note,
2005) In March King, Ralph Abernathy and other SCLC organizers set up
headquarters in a Birmingham s black neighborhood motel room, recruited
volunteers for protest rallies and gave workshops in how to use nonviolent
techniques. (Spark Note, 2005) On April 3 the campaign began with lunch counter sit

They had demonstrations each day after. Jails filled with peaceful blacks. King
negotiated with white businessmen, because their stores were losing business
because of the protests. Some of the businessmen were willing to consider
desegregating their businesses and hiring African Americans but City officials upheld
their segregationist policies. On April 10, they obtained an injunction to prohibit the

King violated the injunction by adhering to the federal laws. (Spark Note, 2005)

Although the outside of the prison was meant to conceal, the inside was meant to
illuminate; the prison was not meant merely to confine convicts, but also to keep a
watchful eye on them, to keep them separate from one another and to keep them
constantly under surveillance:
Rather than the massive, binary division between one set of people and another, it
called for multiple separations, individualizing distributions, an organization in depth
of surveillance and control, an intensification and a ramification of power. (Foucault,
Discipline 553)
Instead of merely a holding cell, the prison became an instrument of subjugation,
distinguished by the control it exerted over the inmates corporeal being. Visibility
was exercised on the prisoners themselves, ensuring that even if their mind resisted,
their bodies would be forced to obey. The separation, subjugation and surveillance of
prisoners became the device through which order was maintained; prisoners were
separated so they did not conspire, watched in case they needed medical attention,
and monitored to make sure that they were not hiding contraband or trying to escape.
The transition from spectacle to prison can be traced to a much larger trend
throughout history. With the outbreak of the plague in Europe at the end of the
seventeenth century, the need for separation and observation became

the best 8th grade quarterback in the state of Massachusetts. Pete is a wide receiver

Another thing that I analyzed them on is what their attitude is like. Nate is by far

the Renaissanceperiod in Europe in the fifteenth to sixteenth centuries. I believe the
main reason these pieces are grouped together is that they all contain a depiction of
a saint. Another reason for this arrangement is that all these paintings all represent
the survival of holy figures and the death of the evil ones. This is shown in each
piece by either a saint killing an evil creature or the birth of a holy saint. The piece
I will analyze from the previously mentioned gallery is Saint George Killing the
Dragon by Bernat Martorell which was made in 1434/35. This piece is a painting
made on a support of panel with a media of tempera and stucco. The main subject of
the painting is a man wearing armor on a whitehorse. The man on the
Asian American Stereotypes
Ambivalent Stereotypes of Asian Americans and Intergroup Emotions and Behaviors
Looking more specifically at the implications of Asian Americans ambivalent
stereotype as cold, but competent, scholars found that the model minority stereotype
is rooted in such ambivalence and further leads to negative attitudes, emotions, and
behaviors toward Asian Americans. Lin and colleagues (2005) developed the Scale of
Anti Asian AmericanStereotypes (SAAAS) based on SCM to investigate the factors
underlying anti Asian American prejudice and found that the SAAAS results are
consistent with that of SCM study findings. Asian American stereotypes of high
competence and low sociability underlie anti Asian prejudice and discrimination. As a
result, Asian Americans perceived high competence becomes not necessarily a
positive attribute, but a factor that leads the group to be targeted by resentful and
envious prejudice. Further, their perceived low sociability is interpreted as Asian
Americans inability to gain social support from the majority group and therefore,
provides justification for discriminating against a high achieving out group that is
adhering to the rules of meritocracy.
Furthermore, Asian Americans model minority stereotypeposes realistic and symbolic
threats to the ingroup and leads to their negative attitudes, emotions, and behaviors
toward Asian Americans. Cuddy et al. (2008) extends SCM to incorporate the
Behavior from Intergroup and Affect (BIAS) map to explore the
Gary Turk
The spoken word poetry, Look Up by Gary Turk, stressed how social media has
changed our lives and the negative effects of it. Besides, the author called on
people to take a break in our digital lives and lived life the real way. As far as I am
concerned, I strongly agree with some of Gary s opinion while I think some
argument is not convincing enough. Firstly, I agree with Turk s opinion that
social media can result in the social isolation. Gary Turk (2014) stated I look
around to realize the media we call social is anything but when we open our
computers, and it is our doors we shut. When we spend more time engaging in
social media platforms , we are less social in real life. What s worse, even when we
are joining an event, we are too focusing on looking at social media, which may be
costing us in social interaction. If people do not experience face to face interaction
with others, they may lose the ability to initiate a conversation with a stranger, which
can eventually lead to them isolated by the society. Additionally, social media make

I personally disagree with this idea and I think it exaggerates the negative impact
of social media. For example, Katie, 24, and Jon, 32, the couple, who work as
Christian missionaries, met on line while Katie was in San Diego and Jon was on
a mission in South Asia. Two months prior to their October 2011 meeting in Los
Angeles, Katie had sent Jon an e mail, hoping to join his mission group. Jon,
curious, had clicked through to her blog, which was replete with references to
obscure devotional writers that he also admired. That initial contact led to months
of e mails and phone calls, at last, in their decision to meet in the flesh. Today the
couple are happily married with a baby girl(Enrlich,2013). Therefore, I think the
social media cannot stop families from happening and it is possible to fall in love on
How Did Wigand Stood Up Against The Tobacco Industry
Before Wigand had come forward you had people that were whistleblowers for the
tobacco industry you had someone who had stolen those secret files that ended up on
Bergman doorstep. But Wigand was the Christopher Columbus of the tobacco, he was
the biggest person in history to have and still to this present day that has stood up
against the tobaccoindustry. Once Wigand had blown the whistle on B W other
employees didn t come forward or back Wigand up, he talks about in his interview
with Vanity Fair, that B W staff was an incestuous society at parties and dinners they
never mixed and they stayed away from each other. People were getting paid well
and getting nice benefits packages, people knew what was going on everything was

A Comprehensive Research On Anz Banking Group Ltd.
The purpose of this report is to perform a comprehensive research on ANZ Banking
Group Ltd. s International business strategy, utilizing the concepts of Global Project
Management. The information is used to understand the current capability of the
organization, and propose an ICT solution that would support the organization s
business strategy while meeting its business requirements (Tang, 2010), helping the
organization realize overall maturity. 1.2 Scope The investigation done was based on
the business structure of ANZ with the focus on value chain analysis as well as

1.6 Literature Review The proposal has been drawn on concepts such as value chain
analysis and approaches to achieve competitive advantages in an organization. It has
been stated in researches that the competitive advantages of an organization are
specific to a country and the value chain are a reflection of its history, its strategy, its
approach to implementing its strategy and the underlying economics of the activities
themselves (Porter, 1986, 1985). Since ANZ has its business located in several
countries, value configuration will be a crucial step in analysing the geographical
dispersion of activities (Schmid and Groshe, 2008) . The research on how business
reengineering is beneficial while implementing an ICT solution will help in drawing
an outline of how it will proceed (Huo et al, 2010). 2. ANZ s International Business
Strategy 2.1 Introduction International Business Strategy can be referred to as a plan
of action where the internationally scattered subsidiaries of an organization act
independently, with minimum coordination with the parent company (Twarowska,
2013). Few of the incentives (UT Arlington) that an organization achieves by
expanding international business strategy are listed below: Increased market size:
The customer base for the organization increases drastically, facilitating mergers and
joint ventures with country specific businesses. Greater returns on investments:

The Effect Of Emotion Coaching On Children And
Children...
Parent emotion coaching helps children to integrate their right brain with their left
brain for healthy development of emotion regulation. However, parents are required
to be self aware of their own emotions for positive results when emotion coaching
their children. Emotion coaching improves children s ability to self calm and label
their feelings; in addition, it fosters emotional health as parents teach their children to
express emotions especially when facing conflicting and difficult situations. Emotion
coaching programs assist both parents and children with emotion dysregulation by
breaking their negative behavioral patterns resulting in improved behavioral conduct.
Children diagnosed with ADHD and ODD experience beneficial results with parent
emotion coaching. Introduction
Emotion coaching assists parents in recognizing the significance of their children s
emotions by being receptive and accepting through spoken directives as children learn
how to appropriately express and cope with their own emotions (Dunsmore, Booker,
Ollendick, 2013). In addition, emotion coaching works when parents are equipped
with self awareness of their own emotions and that of their children (Lauw,
Havighurst, Wilson, Harley, Northam, 2014). These parents understand the
importance of spending time with their children to build the bridge of intimacy while
assisting in the development of placing names on emotions and teaching self
comforting, empathy towards others, and setting
The Most Important Contributions Of Zheng He
Zheng He
The most important contributions that he did in his lifetime are all the expeditions
that he lead over most of Asia, and eastern Africa. He went on seven voyages in
total, on all of them he would always return to China with some goods or gold, but
in some cases he had to use violence. He entered the army at a young age, which
made it the perfect choice to be his adulthood career.
When He was born his parents named him Ma He which is Chinese for Muhammad,
but when he became the commander in chief he changed his name to Zheng He. China
was reconquered by the generals, and troops of Ming dynasty in 1381, at the same
time he was ten years old.Zheng He was chosen by the emperor of china to go on a
journey called the Western Ocean which began around 1405 which later was known
as his first voyage. He left China with 27,800 men and 62 ships. Zheng He s vessels
visited Siam now Thailand, the island of Java, Malacca now Melaka, and Champa
now the southern part of Vietnam. Then through the Indian Ocean to Calicut now
Kozhikode on the Malabar Coast of India and Ceylon which now is Sri Lanka. After
Ceylon he went back the China around 1407.
For his second journey he left in 1408, he went to Calicut again, then he stopped in
Chochin which is Kocki along the cost of the south. However, during his visit in
Chochin King Alogonakkara of Ceylon attached Zhang s troops, but in the end he
defeated Alagonakkara s troops. After Zheng s troops beat Alagonakkara s troops,
they took the king of Nanjing as a prisoner of war on his return to China which was
in 1409 only one year after he left. After that expedition he went on another journey
october later that year. On his third expedition in October 1409 this time he gone
further than he ever had, he sailed to Samundra on the northern tip of Sumatra. After
he got there he collected some goods, and gotten lots of gold. He returned back to
China in 1411 from his longest and most successful expedition yet.
In 1413 Zheng He left China to take off and start his fourth journey, he went went to
the main ports of Asia like what now is Malaysia, Thailand, North Korea, and Iran.
After he visited those ports he went on to the westward of India all the way to the

My First Day At School Essay.pdf

  • 1. My First Day At School Essay Writing an essay on the topic "My First Day At School" can be both a nostalgic and challenging task. While the subject matter might evoke personal memories and emotions, articulating them in a coherent and engaging manner requires careful consideration. The difficulty lies in striking the right balance between vividly recounting the experience and maintaining a structured narrative that captures the reader's interest. One of the challenges is to avoid being overly sentimental or clichГ©d. It's essential to convey the significance of the first day at school without resorting to generic expressions. Finding the right words to describe the mixture of excitement, apprehension, and curiosity that accompanied that initial foray into the world of education can be a delicate task. Furthermore, organizing the essay in a logical and compelling sequence poses another hurdle. The narrative must flow seamlessly, allowing the reader to accompany the writer through the various stages of the first day – from the initial arrival to the classrooms, meeting new classmates, and navigating the unfamiliar surroundings. Balancing descriptive elements with reflections on personal growth can be tricky but is crucial for a well-rounded essay. Additionally, incorporating sensory details can enhance the essay's authenticity. Describing the sights, sounds, and even the scents of the school environment on that particular day can transport the reader back in time. Striking the right chord between sensory vividness and maintaining a focused narrative is a skill that adds to the complexity of the writing process. In conclusion, crafting an essay on the topic of "My First Day At School" requires careful consideration of language, structure, and emotional nuance. It demands a balance between personal expression and universal relatability, making it both a challenging and rewarding endeavor for any writer. • 3. Critical Pedagogy And The Reggio Emilia Critical pedagogy and The Reggio Emilia approach on play based learning should be merged into early childhood education as obtaining the skills to critically analyze and problem solve has the potential to change society and thus the potential to change the world. It is important individuals become aware of what critical pedagogy is. Critical pedagogy stems from the idea that there is an unequal social structure in our society which is based upon class, race and gender. It has been formulated and influenced by many psychologists and philosophers including John Dewey and Paulo Freire. Critical pedagogy is an attempt at freedom from oppression through democratic critical thinking. In critical pedagogy the knowledge learned within the classroom should correlate with and not be separated from any social structure, culture, politics, economics or any ideology taking place with society. The idea is, that in order to orchestrate change, individuals must become aware of the social, cultural, ideological, and or economic influence exerted upon society. Once the individual becomes aware of the hegemony taking place they can then analyze their situation and implement change for the greater good. John Dewey born October 20th, 1859 was an American psychologist and philosopher. He was known well for his avocation in democracy and his theories on progressive education which correlate and transition into critical pedagogy. Critically evaluate this statement, drawing on the key theories and research that describe the relationship between language and thought. Language has traditionally been characterized by Philosophers as a cognitive tool used to freely externalize ones thoughts (Green, 2010 as cited in Kaye, 2010). The relationship between language, thought, culture and reality has occupied the minds of many for centuries. Early theorists argued that language and thought were two separate systems which enter into an array of interconnected cognitive structures (Chomsky, 1983). Extreme nativists and constructivists are key proponents of innateness and argued that knowledge and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Criticisms of his theory are highlighted as complete disregard for meaning and the social aspects or environment at which a child first acquires its words. Other critiques look at evidence produced by children with a hearing impairment. Questions surround what kind of parameters they would apply when using sign language. If Chomsky s (2006) theory is to be correct then, it does not explain how children who learn two languages at once can apply parameter settings (Messer, 2000 cited in Green, 2010). Contrasting with the nativist approach, linguistic determinism argued in support for the notion that language influences or even determines how we speak. These ideas were first presented in the early 1930 s by Edward Sapir and Benjamin Lee Whorf, who studied how languages vary and proposed ways that speakers of different tongues may think differently. Due to lack of empirical evidence at the time, their ideas of determinism (Whorfian hypothesis) were rejected but later reinstated with a weaker, less controversial notion of linguistic relativism, suggesting how language influences thought rather than determines it. (Green, 2010) Firstly many of the early studies supporting Whorf s hypothesis derived from studies of colour perception and naming. Brown and Lenneberg, (1954) found cross cultural differences in the speed of colour naming and recognition, related to colour terms in different languages, though the study found correlations rather than a

However, in the search to make Pooh more marketable, drastic changes have been made to the original text in order to appeal to a wider audience. In my research, I will explore how the commercialization of Winnie the Poohaffected the original text, both in its meaning and sentimental value. Winnie the Pooh has not always been the stylized, bright yellow bear that we now see plastered on countless spin off books, movies, mugs, and shower curtains. On the contrary, the history behind the first publication of Winnie the Pooh is one of sweet and simple origins. A. A. Parents are always welcome to volunteer and help out during the day in the classroom. While these are great ways to include parents in their child s education, Joyce Epstein of Johns Hopkins University mentions 6 levels of involvement. The first level is parenting, teachers should help establish a home environment that supports learning for the child. Secondly, communicating from school to home and home to school. Some different ways to do this are phone calls, newsletters, and emails. The next level is volunteering. Teachers should not only promote but ask for family support in and out of the classroom. Learning at home is the fourth level of parent involvement. Teachers should include information about what their child is learning and how they can help with the child s reading and homework and what needs to be improved. Fifthly, teachers should include parents in school decisions and create family organizations such as PTA. Lastly, teachers should collaborate with the community and provide information about community health, cultural, social support, and other programs or services. (Weissman and Hendrick 49 50). By communicating about community cultural services, I believe that it shows that a teacher shows interest in the familys culture. Establishing a good relationship

For example, someone from The Calgary, Canada would behave differently then someone from Makkah, Saudi Arabia because of several reasons. Personally, I believe that culture, geography, and climate play a major role in determining how people act. The similarities and differences between Calgary and Makkah are very obvious. An essential point that affects the way people behave is, culture. Calgary is very multicultural city, there are people from all over the world who have different cultures and religions. On the other hand, everyone in Makkah is Muslim so everyone there essentially has the same culture. Culture affects how people act because of religion and clothing. ... In contrast, Makkah has a hot desert climate and it maintains its warm temperature in winter, which can range from 18 В°C at night to 30 В°C in the day. Summer temperatures are extremely fiery, often being over 40 В°C during the day and 30 В°C at night. Climate, affects things such as clothing, sports, cars, and houses. In Calgary, the climate fluctuates quite a lot, but around summer time most people will be wearing t shirts and shorts whereas in winter they would be covered up with a warm jacket, mittens, toque, a scarf. Furthermore, in summer the soccer season would be played outdoors but because of the climate in winter we have indoor soccer season. In addition to that, the cars that are on the streets during the summer are usually sedans, but in winter people are driving huge trucks. Also, in Calgary the houses are very insulated because it can get very cold outside in winter, since the houses are insulated the people don t feel how cold it is outside at all. In addition to that, the houses have double garage doors showing the significance of a car. On the other hand, in Makkah, the temperatures remain warm so people usually wear quite thin clothing. Sports in Makkah would be played outside because there is no need to go inside. The cars that are on the roads in Makkah stay the same because there is no change in the seasons besides the temperature. The houses in Makkah are concrete and not insulated because it is already warm. In summary, we can agree that climate affects how people

Travelling from one country to other for trading had been popular since historic times. Immigration means the one way flow of the population to a specific place or country. People move out of the native country or state for various reasons. Better employment opportunities and a desire for a better living and future are the main driving forces. Though, in present times there are several other reasons like immigrating for education and/ or seeking political asylum in neutral countries etc. Personally, my family members (including the ancestors) have never migrated to any place other than India. My parents, grand parents, their parents and so on, have all been living in India since their birth. Although of the family tree situated in India, some far away individual relatives have migrated to different countries like USA and UK, but just for work or education; without any settlement plans. As said earlier, immigration forms the present face of the world. America is nothing more than unison of immigrants coming from different parts of the world. Even, the Aryans, who are the predecessors of north Indians, are believed to have migrated from Middle Asia to India. Immigration acts in both directions of development, the positive as well as negative. On one hand, it opens the way for talented and professional work force from the other lands. But it also enhances the rate of competition and struggle for
  • 28. Effects Of Credit Risk On Financial Institutions A common saying tied to many new endeavors, Without risk, there is no reward . Financial institutions are no exception to this rule. The major risks that all financial institutions are exposed to are credit risk, liquidity risk, operational risk, market risk, business risk, reputational risk, systemic risk, and moral hazard (Perez, 2014). Of these top eight scenarios, credit, market, and operational risks are the three major risk factors that Jeanne D Arc is focused on mitigating during and following the business service project. Credit risk indicates a decline in the credit assets values before default that arises from the deterioration in a financial institution s portfolio quality. Credit risk can also represent the volatility the loss in the credit asset s value and the loss in the current and future earnings from the credit (Perez, 2014). To prepare and accommodate inevitable losses stemming from our business credit card Jeanne D Arc has budgeted for a loan loss reserve to help protect the financial integrity and assets of the credit union. Operational risk occurs in all day to day activities in banking. As the credit union is looking to attract a new type of member, this risk is can be caused by inadequate internal processes, people, systems, and external events. Some examples of operational risk include people risk, hacking of the core processing system, errors in information processing, data transmission, data retrieval, and inaccuracy of outputs (Perez, 2014).

Thus, reform is necessary to redress the concerns of lack of legal certainty in relation to this area of the law. This essay will argue that the concept of worker defined under section 230 of the Employment Rights Act ( ERA ) 1996 is board; however, due to the undefined scope of section 230(3) of ERA 1996, employment tribunals and the courts have adapted a rigid approach in their interpretation; that there is a high degree of legal uncertainty as established in this area of law; that the law does not adequately deal with non standard forms of workers ; present proposals for reform by the UK Parliament on the interpretation and application of law at common; and finally provide a conclusion for the arguments put forth. Attracting over one and a half million visitors annually, it is one of the largest art museums in the United States. The reason I chose this site is that I read that it displayed Georges Seurat s A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, and I wanted to see it in person because it is so iconic. While at the Art Institute of Chicago, I spent most of my time in The Elizabeth Hammond Stickney Gallery . There were three pieces in this gallery: Saint Michael and the Devil, The Birth of Saint John the Baptist, and Saint George Killing the Dragon. Each piece was made in the Renaissanceperiod in Europe in the fifteenth to sixteenth centuries. I believe the main reason these pieces are grouped together is that they all contain a depiction of a saint. Another reason for this arrangement is that all these paintings all represent the survival of holy figures and the death of the evil ones. This is shown in each piece by either a saint killing an evil creature or the birth of a holy saint. The piece I will analyze from the previously mentioned gallery is Saint George Killing the Dragon by Bernat Martorell which was made in 1434/35. Further, their perceived low sociability is interpreted as Asian Americans inability to gain social support from the majority group and therefore, provides justification for discriminating against a high achieving out group that is adhering to the rules of meritocracy. What s worse, even when we are joining an event, we are too focusing on looking at social media, which may be costing us in social interaction.
