Verbal and non verbal communication
 Verbal communication is any
communication that uses language
to convey meaning.it can include
oral communication , such as
speaking to another person over
the telephone , face-to-fae
discussion ,interviews , debates
,presentations and so on.
 It can also include written
communication , such as letter and
emails
Non verbal communication is when a
person conveys their thoughts , feeling
and mood through visual rather than
verbal cues
These visual signals include:
Facial expression
Eye contact
Subtle [and not so subtle] gestures
Tone of voice
touch
Barriers to Effective communication
 Barriers to Effective communication can result in confusion which can lead to
incorrect information being conveyed or miscommunication which can lead to loss
of business
 Following are the barriers of the communication:
 Environmental barriers
 Situational barriers
 individual barriers
- Attitudinal
- Linguistic ability
- Inattention
- Emotional state
Perspectives in communication
 Perspectives are ideas , views or fixed ways of thinking these
sometimes affect our communication
 For example:
 If you have fixed that your teacher or mother is strict , even when
they are being friendly , you may think they are scolding you even
though they are polite.
 In the other same way , others may also have fixed ideas about you
which affect whatever you say to them

 Phrase is a group of words that from a unit within a sentence but is
incomplete independently a phrase lacks both the subject and the object
 There are 5 types of phrases:
 A noun phrase
 A verb phrase
 An adjective phrase
 An adverb phrase
 A prepositional phrase
Sentences
 A group of words that makes complete sense is called a sentence
 There 4 types of sentence
 Assertive or declarative sentence [a statement]
 Imperative sentence [a command]
 Interrogative sentence [a question]
 Exclamatory sentence [an exclamation]
Parts of sentence
 Every sentence have two parts: subject and predicate
 Subject: the subject is what [or whom] the sentence is about
 Predicate: the predicate tells something about the subject contains the verb
Rules for writing a sentence
Use short sentence
Limit the sentence content
Economies on words
Arrange the sentences in a proper sequence
Design sentence to emphasis the topic

 Each word in the English language belongs to a particular class of speech

 A paragraph writing consists of
