Common mistakes is the combination of two words.
What is common?
Done by many people.
Occurring or Appearing frequently
What is Mistake?
To understand something or someone incorrectly.
To make a wrong judgment about something.
To indentify someone or something incorrectly.
 Of course not. It has a big stain on it that makes it look
bad. Grammar mistakes are like stains. they make your
writing look bad.
 Using one word repetitively in one sentence or in
the entire essay make the sentence or essay bad.
 Common words should be replaced with their
synonyms in order to enrich the overall use of
vocabulary.
 Some commonly repetitive words, which can be
replaced are:
 Ambition  Aim/Desire
 Beautiful  Lovely/Preety
 Fabulous  Wonderful/Outstanding
 Amazing  Unbelievable/Extraordinary
It’s Its
The short form of “it is” Belongs to it
It’s raining outside! The baby is looking at its mother.
Check the door to make sure it’s closed. The cat saw its reflection in the mirror.
It’s always nice to see a friend. Our tree dropped its leaves late this
year.
 If you can say “it is”, then write “it’s”.
 If you show to belong something then write “its”.
 Punctuation marks are generally used to break
sentences.
 Most of the punctuation errors come with comma
(,).
 The use of comma is done when one sentence has
two parts, and the second part has its own subject
and object.
 I was playing Cricket, when he arrived. (Incorrect)
 I was playing Cricket when he arrived. (Correct)
 Reason:
 (The sentence used has a single object and, therefore, the
use of comma is not required.)
 There is no such word as “alot”.
 It must be spelled out as two words: a lot.
 We Should to Write “A lot” instead of “Alot” . Because
both are separate words.
 I have alot of work to do. (Incorrect)
 I have a lot of work to do. (Correct)
 I want alot of respect from my friends. (Incorrect)
 I want a lot of respect from my friends. (Correct)
 Confusion between “then” and “than” probably arises
because the two look and sound similar.
 “Than” is used in comparison.
 “Then” is used to indicate something following else in
time as in step by step instruction or planning a
schedule .

We’ll go there then there She was better at it than him.
They ate dinner and then they went
home.
It was more than enough.
 Never use an apostrophe ( ’) to show a plural.
 Always use an apostrophe to show possession
Incorrect Correct
I have three pencil’s in my bag I have three pencils in my bag.
Those shoe’s are Jill’s. Those shoes are Jill’s.
I have three cousin’s. I have three cousins
 A squinting modifier is another type of problem
involving its placement in a sentence.
 Sentences with confused meanings.
 Improper arrangement of words in a sentence can
cause the issue of squinting modifier.
Confuesed man
 This can be corrected by rearranging words in a
sentence .
 To fix a misplaced modifier, revise the sentence so
that your “arrow” hits the target word.
 Confusion between “there”, “their”, and “they’re”
probably arises because the two look and sound
similar.
 Our understanding for these word should be strong
then we avoid from this error.
 There is an adverb meaning “that Location”
 Their is a pronoun that used to show possession.
 They’re is a contraction of ” They are”

 We should always capitalize these words to avoid from
this mistake:

 Non-Words are those words which has no meaning in
General English but we write. (e.g)
Girlz,Dey,gotta,Gonna.
 There’s a difference between how we speak and how
we write. There’s nothing wrong with speaking in
slang to your friends, and there’s nothing wrong with
writing text messages full of abbreviations. But, you
must remember to write in Standard English if you
want to look like you have a brain between your ears.

I’m gonna go get some milk . I’m going to get some milk.
Did you see them girlz? Dey had nice

smiles!
 A fragment is a part of something. If you would drop a
glass jar, it would break into fragments.
 Every sentence must have a subject and then the rest
of it .If one or the other is missing, you have a sentence
fragment.
 A sentence fragment is part of a sentence, but not a
complete sentence.
Example of Fragment sentence:
 Running down the street. (There’s no subject!)
 Always wants to go. (There’s no subject!)
 Juan and Steve, every Tuesday.
Lose Loose
rhymes with “goose” rhymes with “news”
It means you can’t find something
or the opposite of “win”
It means not tight
Example of Lose Example of Loose
Don’t lose your keys. Your pants are too loose.
I hope we don’t lose too much time. My wedding ring is too loose.
We will lose if we don’t practice
more
Is your phone not charging because
of a
loose connection?
 Complex Example:
 You will lose your ring if it is too loose on your finger.
 The team will lose the football game if they catch the
ball loosely.
 Our understanding for these word should be strong
then we avoid from this error.
 Lose = opposite of win
 Loose = Not tight

  • 4. Common mistakes is the combination of two words. What is common? Done by many people. Occurring or Appearing frequently What is Mistake? To understand something or someone incorrectly. To make a wrong judgment about something. To indentify someone or something incorrectly.
  • 5.  Of course not. It has a big stain on it that makes it look bad. Grammar mistakes are like stains. they make your writing look bad.
  • 6.  Using one word repetitively in one sentence or in the entire essay make the sentence or essay bad.
  • 7.  Common words should be replaced with their synonyms in order to enrich the overall use of vocabulary.
  • 8.  Some commonly repetitive words, which can be replaced are:  Ambition  Aim/Desire  Beautiful  Lovely/Preety  Fabulous  Wonderful/Outstanding  Amazing  Unbelievable/Extraordinary
  • 9. It’s Its The short form of “it is” Belongs to it It’s raining outside! The baby is looking at its mother. Check the door to make sure it’s closed. The cat saw its reflection in the mirror. It’s always nice to see a friend. Our tree dropped its leaves late this year.

  • 11.  Punctuation marks are generally used to break sentences.  Most of the punctuation errors come with comma (,).

There’s nothing wrong with speaking in slang to your friends, and there’s nothing wrong with writing text messages full of abbreviations. But, you must remember to write in Standard English if you want to look like you have a brain between your ears.

  • 35.  A fragment is a part of something. If you would drop a glass jar, it would break into fragments.  Every sentence must have a subject and then the rest of it .If one or the other is missing, you have a sentence fragment.  A sentence fragment is part of a sentence, but not a complete sentence.
  • 36. Example of Fragment sentence:  Running down the street. (There’s no subject!)  Always wants to go. (There’s no subject!)  Juan and Steve, every Tuesday.

We will lose if we don’t practice more Is your phone not charging because of a loose connection?  Complex Example:  You will lose your ring if it is too loose on your finger.  The team will lose the football game if they catch the ball loosely.
